[Bug 1845761] Re: battery indicator (lxqt-panel) condition dropped to 0% and stayed there (even with charger plugged in)

2019-09-27 Thread Chris Guiver
** Description changed:

- i'll write this up on a real keyboard shortly
+ Lubuntu 19.10 QA-test (2019-09-26.1)
+ on lenovo thinkpad x201 (i5-m520, 4gb, i915)
+
+ Battery health is watched during test and it looked normal (mostly had
+ power plugged in). After writing up QA-test report on another box I
+ moved back to shutdown laptop & discovered it was still streaming news -
+ but battery indicator said 0% I expected it higher than that, but sat
+ & watched for it to die.. it didn't.
+
+ I clicked on the panel battery icon & "Battery Info" opened up, but all
+ numerical values read 0 (energy full, energy now, energy rate, voltage,
+ temperature) Alas I didn't grab screen capture. I plugged back in
+ charger & values remained 0. I closed & re-opened the "Battery Info"
+ tab & it was still 0. I removed charger cable & all remained 0.
+
+ I logged out, logged in again and now Energy full read 14%, Energy Now
+ read 86%, , etc. ie. expected values.
+
+ Expected Results : Values remain consistent; not drop to 0
+
+ Simon (tsimonq2) reported issues ages back with battery; is this the
+ same as what he experienced long ago??

It seems a firmware issue and Marvell simple doesn't care. Perhaps power
of social networks can help.

[Bug 1845745] Re: Cannot change login user for SDDM under Lubuntu 18.04

2019-09-27 Thread Chris Guiver
The incomplete was because we have no details as for your `sddm`
package, nor your system (apport or ubuntu-bug type tools submit this
information, and running the command

apport-collect 1845745

on the box where you have the issue, as per my first (#1) comment will
add this information to the bug report. It's this information that the
bug report is after only. Provide it and you can change "Incomplete" to
"New"

`sddm` is a community package; and whilst not supported by Lubuntu
specifically, my testing in comment #2 found it worked fine with my
Lubuntu test using 18.04. Because we don't yet know your architecture
(`apport-collect` will provide when you run it) you may be different to
the testing I did which was on a x86/i686 box; but it worked for me with
3 users.

I suggest you run

`sudo apt update; sudo apt full-upgrade`

and your box should fully upgrade itself to the latest 18.04.3 system
(note: some methods of getting release info report the release
installed, not the current state). I would suggest doing that and trying
again.

[Bug 1845756] Re: lubuntu 19.10 strange movement of wallpaper on monitor.settings change

2019-09-27 Thread Chris Guiver
** Description changed:

- I will do more testing on this, so this currently is preliminary...
-
  Lubuntu 19.10 daily
  deb cdrom:[Lubuntu 19.10 _Eoan Ermine_ - Beta amd64 (20190926.1)]/ eoan main
multiverse restricted universe

I adjusted the monitor.settings to match my setup, also changing the
primary screen and it did exactly what I wanted, however the wallpaper
appears to have been misplaced; the top.of.wallpaper is now displayed on
my bottom monitor with my top.display having no wallpaper.

- The importance of this currently is MINIMAL-NIL - first time experienced
- and I'll explore this more (and may change my opinion)
+ The importance of this is probably MINIMAL-NIL.
+
+ I have been able to re-create it, but it only seems to occur with a
+ specific setup, and is likely linked to
+ https://github.com/lxqt/lxqt/issues/1709 or
+ https://github.com/lxqt/lxqt/issues/1704 (though upstream suspect those

Ah, that might explains it. I'm using the Lubuntu 18.04 without much
upgrade. I.e., my system being 18.04 and not fully updated might be the
cause.

After compiling Ubuntu 8.10's kernel with CONFIG_RTC_DRV_CMOS=n and
setting a wakeup time using /proc/acpi/alarm, my system woke up from S5.
That is an acceptable workaround 'til some fix will be made.

Tell me what to do next, to help fixing this problem.

I run the "check disc for defects" and found a file has errors.
I re-write the USB drive and now it's installed successfully on my

Thanks,

[Bug 1845756] [NEW] lubuntu 19.10 strange movement of wallpaper on monitor.settings change

2019-09-27 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

I will do more testing on this, so this currently is preliminary...

The importance of this currently is MINIMAL-NIL - first time experienced
and I'll explore this more (and may change my opinion)

[Bug 1845745] Re: Cannot change login user for SDDM

2019-09-27 Thread Chris Guiver
I just booted a QA-install of Xubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (final release-
candidate) and updated it, added `lubuntu-desktop` and `sddm` (sddm made
default). I used `adduser` to create another user, and rebooted.

At the sddm greeter, I could use mouse to pick my 'guiverc' user, 'qa-
user' or newly created 'garfield' user. (a xubuntu post-install QA-test
had me create 'qa-user' which is why it existed; I'd forgotten it was
there)

Because my base was Xubuntu 18.04.3 (x86), my system will have different
packages, but it was a fresh un-used system so is pretty clean (created
only for QA-test purposes pre-18.04.3 release). I could not re-create
this issue at all.

(I used x86, as `sddm` pulls in a lot of KDE/Qt packages and didn't want
to do it on a x86_64 system I use for other things).

[Bug 1811946] Re: black stripe in scans using canon lide 200 usb scanner

2019-09-27 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1731459 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731459

There are updated packages in bionic-proposed which may fix this issue;
please see bug #1731459. What remains is that somebody who has an
affected device tests those packages and confirms that the updated
packages address the issue.

So @Jaroslav, it would be great if you could verify the packages in
bionic-proposed (see the test case in the description on the other bug).

Marking this bug a duplicate.

[Bug 1840670] Re: amd64-microcode better initramfs hook

2019-09-27 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Dimitri, or anyone else affected,

Accepted amd64-microcode into bionic-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amd64-microcode/3.20181128.1~ubuntu0.18.04.1

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1845745] Re: Cannot change login user for SDDM

2019-09-27 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1845745

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Yes your explanation was clear (and I saw it last night on askubuntu
too), but your provided no detail as to package versions (esp. sddm), or
if you are using a Ubuntu repo package or one obtained from elsewhere
(Lubuntu didn't support sddm until 18.10). If you don't want to provide
full (apport-collect) details of your system, I'd request you to limit
it to package sddm (ie. `-p sddm`)

After providing the extra detail, please change the status of this bug
back to "New". Likewise if you believe I've made an error, leave a
comment stating why and you can return it to "New". Again, thank you
for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.
