[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location
The long chain of arguments from the devs that the snap folder is different just reflects what they *want* the snap folder to be, not what it actually is. I have 10 folders inside $HOME/snap. I have no idea what content is in any of them, nor do I care about that content, nor would I ever browse it as I would Documents, Downloads, etc. It is simply junk. I'm not upset that the software has this problem, but I'm upset that the devs have not treated the problem seriously. It's been over 3 years since the issue was raised. Every single person who installs Ubuntu runs into the "snap" folder and has no idea what it is. UX matters and this is a major UX failure. The devs of snap, in their responses here, completely disregard common sense UX due to (a) technical reasons, which despite being of clear importance do not adequately justify 3 years of not prioritizing this, (b) pedagogical beliefs about what the snap folder is/should be, which are just idealistic since that is not what the folder actually is. Yes, I'm happy that fixing this is on the roadmap. But no, I don't think that taking 3 years so far is excusable, and I don't think this issue has been given nearly the attention it deserves. I'm sorry but renaming a folder doesn't require 3 years of work -- no matter what idealistic idea you have for the software in the long term, just disregard that for now and rename the folder as everyone is clearly annoyed, and it's your fault for dumping junk on them that they didn't want or need. After you rename the folder you can solve your technical issues about where snap apps can store their stuff. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575053 Title: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1575053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1846398] Re: Fractional scaling has significant visible refreshes on a 4k display
I can't yet tell which issue this is, but it sounds likely to be one of https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/x11-hidpi-scaling-available-for-testing-on-disco/10293/3 If you need a fractional scale value then you should find the implementation for Wayland sessions performs better and is more complete. Because it doesn't have to deal with legacy Xorg. If you need Xorg then using whole scale values (n * 100%) works better as you mentioned, because it avoids the Xorg fractional scaling path. ** Tags added: performance -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846398 Title: Fractional scaling has significant visible refreshes on a 4k display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1846398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1846330] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846330 Title: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1846330/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

OK, this sounds like a mutter bug... unless that weirdness in your Xrandr.txt is related: eDP-1 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) ... DP-1 connected primary 2560x1440+0+0 (0x152) normal (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 600mm x 340mm This means the desktop is arranged primarily to fit your external monitor (DP-1) but the built-in screen (eDP-1) has no known position. @Jonathan, Don't use the oem-osp1 kernel. To make the internal mic work, we need to integrate UCM files, we are trying to submit the files to ubuntu 19.10, but not finished. [Bug 1624320] Re: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries
Another vote to bump up the priority on this. Just lost 2 days to this bug, mostly because the behavior is so stupidly borked that I never suspected that Ubuntu would be the cause. Can you imagine how stupid it is that the only machines on the network affected are the Ubuntu Desktops and Ubuntu Servers. Can you imagine how embarrassing it that even Windows machines follow the standards better than a Linux machine. And the absolutely mind-boggling thing is that this is affecting every release from 16.04 to 19.04 and still it is not considered important enough to fix. It is absolutely ridiculous that it would be considered more important to keep behavior that supports a few edge cases of software that wants to do their own DNS resolution in spite of the fact that it breaks the world-wide standards of DNS resolution and ignore DHCP-provided DNS addresses. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624320 Title: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1624320/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
