[Bug 1839592] Re: Open vSwitch (Version 2.9.2) goes into deadlocked state

2019-11-28 Thread Juul Spies
I just came across this bug report and would like to share my
expierence.

I've been having similar issues on 6 servers since we upgraded from 16.04 to
18.04 about 2 years ago with openvswitch.
Our biggest problem is our inabilty to reproduce it. We just see Openvswitch
hanging from time to time. Sometimes it takes a day to get stuck, sometimes it
takes months.
The only way to recover from it is to restart openvswitch.

Right now we are running with a backport of openvswitch from Disco
(2.11.0-0ubuntu2) in Bionic. With that version backported we are having
the same issues as with the previously installed 2.9.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.3
version that Bionic has.

I have gbd traces from both versions which I will attach.

Here a small portion from the ovs log and gdb trace of openvswitch
2.9.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.3:
Sun Aug 25 06:16:14

[Bug 1853818] Re: utf8 non ascii characters are not accepted in the mysql cli when launched with --default-character-set=utf8

2019-11-28 Thread Paride Legovini
Hello Pierre,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I've been able to reproduce the issue using --default-
character-set=utf8. Some more data points:

1. Reproduces in Bionic, Eoan, Focal.
2. Does NOT reproduce on Xenial (5.7.28-0ubuntu0.16.04.2).
3. Reproduces on Debian sid (5.7.26-1+b1).
4. Does NOT reproduce in Debian jessie (5.5.62-0+deb8u1).
5. Reproduces with --default-character-set=utf8mb4 (= true utf8).
6. Locale is always C.UTF-8.

I was tempted to call this an upstream bug, but given that it reproduces
on Debian with version 5.7.26-1+b1 but does not reproduce on Xenial with
version 5.7.28-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 this may not be the case. The bug
requires further investigation.

I don't see the patch queued up in Xenial/Bionic for the 4.4.0-170.199
and 4.15.0-72.81 kernels. If I can do anything to help those land (like
test more versions), please let me know.

Thank you!

[Bug 1852575] Re: Kernels 5.022 or higher booting issues

2019-11-28 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
So, can you boot from 5.3.0-23? I thought the initial report mentioned
you could not boot from 5.3.0-23.

And are you using secure boot? That would prevent testing the kernel I
gave you as it cannot be properly signed being a test kernel. If that is
the case, can you disable secure boot and test?

Thank you.
Cascardo.

[Bug 1854360] [NEW] [SRU] openvswitch 2.9.5

2019-11-28 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
This release sports mostly bug-fixes and we would like to make sure all of our
supported customers have access to these improvements.
The update contains the following package updates:

   * openvswitch 2.9.5

[Test Case]

The following SRU process was followed:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenStack/StableReleaseUpdates

In order to avoid regression of existing consumers, the OpenStack team will
run their continuous integration test against the packages that are in
-proposed. A successful run of all available tests will be required before the
proposed packages can be let into -updates.

The OpenStack team will be in charge of attaching the output summary of the
executed tests. The OpenStack team members will not mark ‘verification-done’
until
this has happened.

[Regression Potential]
In order to mitigate the regression potential, the results of the
aforementioned tests are attached to this bug.

[Bug 1099788] Re: I can't uninstall completely whoopsie

2019-11-28 Thread Andreas Nadobnik
I have a similar issue while removing whoopsie within a preseed

time.

The following packages will be REMOVED:

As you can see, the post-removal script is missing the whoopsie-id file. After
creating the dir and file, the post-removal script runs fine.

Tested under Ubuntu focal.

I downloaded and installed the files, but I could not boot from the this

not sure what that means. I booted again from 5.023.

Kind regards,

[Bug 1854355] Re: LUKS partition on LVM with two disks has wrong device name

2019-11-28 Thread Gutsy Li
** Package changed: xubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) => lvm2 (Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

Ubuntu release: Ubuntu Desktop 18.04.2 LTS
  Kernel: 5.0.0-36-generic
Storage devices: two NVMe SSDs (1TB and 512GB)
-
+
Ubuntu Desktop install – selected the options to use disk encryption and LVM
The largest disk (1TB) is used for the Ubuntu install and this has the device
name /dev/nvme0n1 in the Ubiquity installer. Install completes and upon
rebooting the operating system asks for the encryption passphrase for the LUKS
partition (nvme0n1p3_crypt) which does decrypt as expected.
- Now when logging in and running lsblk it shows the LUKS partition to be in
the wrong place. The 1TB disk now has the name nvme1n1 but the LUKS partition
on that disk has the name nvme0n1p3_crypt.
-
+ Now when logging in and running lsblk it shows the LUKS partition to be in
the wrong place. The 1TB disk now has the name nvme1n1 but the LUKS partition
on that disk has the name nvme0n1p3_crypt.
+
  Output of lsblk:
  nvme1n1 259:00 953.9G 0 disk
  ├─nvme1n1p1 259:10 512M 0 part /boot/efi

  nvme0n1 259:40 477G 0 disk
-
- The LUKS partition doesn’t appear to under nvme0n1p3 but it does on nvme1n1p3
which can be seen when running a luksDump command.
-
+
+ The LUKS partition doesn’t appear to be under nvme0n1p3 but it does on
+ nvme1n1p3 which can be seen when running a luksDump command.
+
  Output of luksDump:
  root@USERPC:~# cryptsetup luksDump /dev/nvme0n1p3 | grep -i "slot 0"
Device /dev/nvme0n1p3 doesn't exist or access denied.
  root@USERPC:~# cryptsetup luksDump /dev/nvme1n1p3 | grep -i "slot 0"
  Key Slot 0: ENABLED

The implications of this so far in my case is not being able to find the
correct LUKS partition device name via custom scripts to populate/modify
key slots (e.g. 'dmsetup ls' returns the device name nvme0n1p3_crypt).
There has not been an issue with Ubuntu decrypting the disk before the
  login screen.

[Bug 1854347] Re: Boot hang on Pi3B+ arm64 images with the latest boot.scr

2019-11-28 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Łukasz, or anyone else affected,

Accepted flash-kernel into eoan-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flash-
kernel/3.98ubuntu5.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-eoan to verification-done-eoan. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-eoan. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Re: [Bug 1852575] Missing required logs.

2019-11-28 Thread Martin Dimitrov
Dear Sir / Madam,

I tried to type in: apport-collect 1852575, in the terminal, but the output
I got was: ERROR: The python3-launchpadlib package is not installed. This
functionality is not available. Apologies if I have done something wrong,
since I am new to Linux, but it is probably not the answer you were looking
for. Could I maybe type something else so that you can have a better idea
of the error? Currently, with the kernel version 5.023.93 (I think), I can
boot normally. However, I still sometimes get annoying flickering of the
display, it is rare, but happens.

Kind regards,
Martin

[Bug 1854059] Re: [UBUNTU] kernel: cpu idle time calculation

2019-11-28 Thread Frank Heimes
Thanks Heiko, I just looked the patch(commit-ID up in the ubuntu master-
next git trees of the Ubuntu releases that are in service.

In Eoan this patch is already addressed by:
LP 1851550: Eoan update: 5.3.9 upstream stable release
Hence, adapting the status from LP 1851550 (currently Fix Committed) to the
Eoan entry here.

In Disco this patch is already addressed by:
LP 1853067: Disco update: upstream stable patchset 2019-11-18
Hence, adapting the status from LP 1853067 (currently Fix Committed) to the
Disco entry here.

In Bionic this patch is already addressed by:
LP 1852492: Bionic update: upstream stable patchset 2019-11-13
Hence, adapting the status from LP 1852492 (currently Fix Committed) to the
Bionic entry here.

In addition, the target kernel for Focus is 5.4; and the patch here got
upstream accepted with 5.4, hence changing the Focal entry here to
Confirmed.

[Bug 1854347] [NEW] Boot hang on Pi3B+ arm64 images with the latest boot.scr

2019-11-28 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

We still don't know exactly what causes the boot hang to happen on this
device, but latest eoan arm64 test images hang on the Pi3B+ when a
regular USB keyboard is attached. As we're continuing to find the root
cause, for now we decided that we'll be reverting the boot.scr changes
to not block further work.

The bug itself might be related to how ubuntu-image populates the boot
partition. Still, the boot.scr changes were not needed in eoan, so it's
safe to revert anyway.

[Test Case]

Build a test raspi3 image (armhf, arm64), flash various Pi devices and
make sure they still boot. This change will be extensively tested by
certification as well.

[Regression Potential]

As with any bootscript change, there might be subtle regressions
regarding boot-ability in various edge scenarios. We will be performing
extensive testing to make sure it does not regress. Also, this boot.scr
that we're reverting to was already in use on the eoan original images,
so it got a lot of testing on its own.

[Bug 1854346] [NEW] No choice can be made to format non-listed file type

For exanmple, in former versions (3.18) there was a menu driven
possibilty to insert a non-listed file type into a blank input field by
typing the file system's name; for ex.: "reiserfs" or "reiser4"

Now, how to input file system types not listed in the menus of 3.28 ?

Workaround ?
