[Bug 1856387] Re: Freezing on boot since kernel 4.15.0-72-generic release

2020-01-05 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Hi Anthony,

As you may have found, this commit was landed in bug 1851216 for a
possible system hang due to bug 1840239, and since it is a solution
backported from v5.3-rc1, and you also stated this can be reproduced in
v5.5-rc1, then you may probably want to either 1) try a slightly newer
v5.5-rc5 mainline kernel[1], or 2) file a upstream bug in kernel
bugzilla[2].

[Bug 1858389] [NEW] lxd won't restart a container

2020-01-05 Thread Wouter van Bommel
Public bug reported:

During the upgrade of a container from xenial to bionic, the container
stopped working after the reboot.

In an manual attempt to start the container:
# lxc start juju-3fae13-25-lxd-6
error: Monitor is hung

There are no failures reported in lxd/lxc related log files

The dmesg does give some possibly related lines:

[Bug 1855943] Re: net-snmp merge for focal (v5.8)

2020-01-05 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
For pcs (with a tiny fix allowing local snmp walks):

autopkgtest [06:09:48]: test snmp: ---]
autopkgtest [06:09:49]: test snmp: - - - - - - - - - - results - - - - - - - -
- -
snmp PASS
autopkgtest [06:09:49]: summary
status PASS
setupPASS
testsuite-ruby PASS
testsuite-python FAIL non-zero exit status 1
snmp PASS <- passes

Failures are timeout flaked tests and original autopkgtest passed:

autopkgtest [20:19:12]: test snmp: - - - - - - - - - - results - - - - - - - -
- -
snmp FAIL non-zero exit status 1
autopkgtest [20:19:12]: summary
status PASS
setupPASS
testsuite-ruby PASS
testsuite-python PASS <- passed
snmp FAIL non-zero exit status 1

So I imagine my fix is good for pcs.

[Bug 1792085] Re: MTP not working/very slow on Bionic

2020-01-05 Thread jeff
I was able to fix this on Ubuntu 18.04 (bionic), which comes with
libmtp-common=1.1.13 by installing a newer version of libmtp 1.1.16.
Now Ubuntu transfers huge numbers of songs between my phone and laptop
by simply drag-and-drop in Nautilus.

sudo apt install build-essential pkg-config wget libusb-1.0-0-dev libusb-dev

wget
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/libmtp/libmtp/1.1.16/libmtp-1.1.16.tar.gz
tar xzf libmtp-1.1.16.tar.gz
cd libmtp-1.1.16

./configure
make
sudo make install

I didn't even have to uninstall the old version, and also no need for
android-file-transfer or jmtpfs.

[Bug 1857891] Re: Authentication code required for keyboardless device

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It looks like the solution may be to add a new line to:
/usr/share/gnome-bluetooth/pin-code-database.xml

Try it for yourself, and at the same time please open a new issue at:

[Bug 1858338] Re: Keyboard unresponsive after suspend and resume (19.10)

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
When you say the trackpad still works, can you also click on things and
get them to respond?

If you get a response to the trackpad then this is probably a keyboard
bug to be assigned to the kernel. If you get no response from the
trackpad and can only move the cursor then this is probably a gnome-
shell crash under Xorg. Since you seem to have the 'wayland-session' tag
here already I will assume the former...

[Bug 1858332] Re: entire UI froze ctrl + alt +f2 no response

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The the GUI is frozen but the mouse moves then this means it is the
gnome-shell process that has frozen or crashed. The mouse can still move
because that is done by Xorg.

...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1858253] Re: Outdated package causing nvidia driver to fail.

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1858200] Re: pulseaudio produces garbage on HDMI after 19.10

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The other thing that changed in this area between 19.04 and 19.10 was
the kernel, so we need to rule that out first before pursuing
PulseAudio. Please try installing kernel 5.0.0 which is more like what
was in Ubuntu 19.04:

  https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.0/

Then run 'uname -a' to confirm the older kernel is active. Does the bug
still occur there?

[Bug 1858194] Re: lost session when hibernate (reset session)

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1858164] Re: libpulse-dev needs a rebuild for libpulse0-1:11.1-1ubuntu7.5 on bionic-updates

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It seems this is a side effect of a mistake made in the release and
subsequent withdrawal of update 1:11.1-1ubuntu7.5. So it's not a bug in
the code but is a problem people will encounter with Ubuntu updates...

This should automatically correct itself with the re-release of
1:11.1-1ubuntu7.5. In the meantime you can manually install whichever
set of packages you need from either:

1:11.1-1ubuntu7.4:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/1:11.1-1ubuntu7.4/+build/17893827

[Bug 1858120] Re: Graphical corruption Intel HD Graphics 630 when using Firefox nightly in Wayland mode

bug 1844222. But you seem to have the fix for that already (mutter

need to look at a negative boot ID. Please reproduce the freeze again
and then on the very next boot which doesn't freeze run:

[Bug 1856846] Re: Gnome Xorg sessions fail to start with LDAP users (but Wayland or local users work)

2020-01-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1858141] Re: "Advanced" tab is missing from Print dialog in Qt5 applications

2020-01-05 Thread Brett Keller
Well, thanks anyway for looking into it. It's disappointing, but I can
totally understand why this won't be backported if the patch is that
complex and touches that many other packages. I'll just use the
workaround until I get the updated Qt stack in 20.04.

Re: [Bug 1833479] Re: libjack-jackd2-0 double close on a failure to connect to jackd which causes crashes in multithreaded programs

2020-01-05 Thread Joseph Yasi
Can this package get updated to 1.9.13, or at least patched in time for
20.04? The security exploitability of this bug may be low, but the impact
on affected users is high. It causes hard to debug, random crashes of other
programs (e g. Kodi) that are scanning ALSA devices when the jack daemon
isn't even started.

[Bug 1858375] [NEW] Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 needs CONFIG_PMIC_OPREGION

2020-01-05 Thread James Buren
Public bug reported:

I recently installed Ubuntu 19.10 on this machine and I am getting
messages in dmesg like this: [drm:mipi_exec_pmic [i915]] *ERROR* Your
hardware requires CONFIG_PMIC_OPREGION and it is not set

I traced the message to drivers/gpu/drm/i915/display/intel_dsi_vbt.c and it is
because a kernel configuration option is not set. The kernel configuration for
the default kernel in 19.10 does not have this set so I am assuming this is why
I am getting this error message. I think this should be enabled on kernels from
now on to resolve the issue for other devices that require it.

I recently installed Ubuntu 19.10 on this machine and I am getting
messages in dmesg like this: [drm:mipi_exec_pmic [i915]] *ERROR* Your
hardware requires CONFIG_PMIC_OPREGION and it is not set

- should be enabled on kernels from now on to resolve the issue for other

[Bug 1858366] Re: My wireless card crashes on 5.4.8-050408-generic kernel installed via Ukuu

2020-01-05 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1858366/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1858374] [NEW] add --id=ipxe to easly identify ipxe menu entry

2020-01-05 Thread Sharon Dagan
Public bug reported:

After installing grub-ipxe_1.0.0+git-20190109.133f4c4-0ubuntu2_all.deb,
the file /etc/grub.d/20_ipxe is added. I suggest adding '--id ipxe' to
the menu entry, so it would be easy to reference that menu entry in
/etc/default/grub (i.e., 'GRUB_DEFAULT=ipxe').

diff 20_ipxe 20_ipxe_new

< menuentry "Network boot (iPXE)" --users "" --class network {

[Bug 1685754] Re: gnome-terminal unduly forces umask=0022

2020-01-05 Thread Etienne URBAH
Sven, here are the workaround steps (as root) :
1) Create the folder '/etc/systemd/user/gnome-terminal-server.service.d' (with
usual mode 755).
2) In this newly created folder, create the 'umask.conf' file with following
content :
   [Service]
   UMask=

4. I am putty'd in on machine 1 and ssh into machine 2, open nano, paste
the example and issue is still there.

5. I have not "built" a nano4-7 on the machine. But I can try tomorrow if you
still need me to do so.
Just let me know.

6. I do not have access to a 19.10 machine

Thanks.
