[Bug 1862601] [NEW] [Remove] Please remove postgresql-11 from Focal

2020-02-09 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Public bug reported:

Hi,
together with Debian we want to get rid of Postgresql-11 in future versions.
Currently most importantly in 20.04 before Feature Freeze.

This isn't as clean as we'd have liked it but let me summarize the
current case.

Most of the dependencies to postgresql-* are superseded by the new version.
For example `libpq5`, `libpq-dev' and `libecpg6` which make the bulk of the
remaining dependencies are provided by src:postgresql-12 now.

What is left is one "context" of packages:
$ reverse-depends -r focal src:postgresql-11 | grep "for postgresql-11"
* postgresql-11-cstore-fdw [amd64 arm64 armhf ppc64el s390x]  (for
postgresql-11)
* postgresql-11-pg-fact-loader [amd64 arm64 armhf ppc64el s390x]  (for
postgresql-11)
* postgresql-11-pgl-ddl-deploy [amd64 arm64 armhf ppc64el s390x]  (for
postgresql-11)
* postgresql-11-pglogical [amd64 arm64 armhf ppc64el s390x]  (for postgresql-11)
* postgresql-11-wal2json [amd64 arm64 armhf ppc64el s390x]  (for postgresql-11)
* there also is pglogical-ticker which doesn't show up here, but depends on it
?!

wal2json is still being worked on, but there the upstream replied and in
few days I expect this to work with postgresql-12 and drop the PG-11
dependency. I'll only "activate" this removal bug once wal2json is
resolved.

But the others seem neglected by upstream atm:
- postgresql-11-cstore-fdw => https://github.com/citusdata/cstore_fdw/issues/212
- postgresql-11-pg-fact-loader, postgresql-11-pgl-ddl-deploy and
pglogical-ticker all depend on postgresql-11-pglogical and that doesn't move
(see below)
- postgresql-11-pglogical => https://github.com/2ndQuadrant/pglogical/issues/223

Due to that the removal will have to hit not only src:postgresql-11 but
also these packages as they don't get updated as needed to move to
postgresql-12. Surely if they react in time before 20.04 release we can
try to ship them, but not as-is.

This already happened in Debian via:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=950734
Due to the above this request here is to remove the following from Ubuntu 20.04
(Focal):
- src:postgresql-11
- src:cstore-fdw
- src:pglogical
- src:pglogical-ticker
- src:pg-fact-loader
- src:pgl-ddl-deploy
=> and all binaries formerly built by them

commit e4ab5ccc357b978999328fadae164e098c26fa40 upstream.

This adds logic to the user_notification_basic test to set a member
of struct seccomp_notif to an invalid value to ensure that the kernel
returns EINVAL if any of the struct seccomp_notif members are set to
invalid values.

The test will pass with this patch reverted.

However as this patch ensures we have a correct return value EINVAL, so
it means this might be a kernel issue.

[Bug 1855668] Re: lockdown on power

2020-02-09 Thread Frank Heimes
The commit "a356646a56857c2e5ad875beec734d7145ecd49a" is upstream with 5.5 and
named "tracing: Do not create directories if lockdown is in affect".
Looking this up in focal master-next tells me that it was indeed picked-up, but
under commit "ce5fac3cf42b": tracing: Do not create directories if lockdown is
in affect.
It's actually in since 5.4.0-13.
Since we still have 5.4.0.12 in the focal release pocket, I can't set it to Fix
Released, yet -
need to wait until 5.4.0.14 migrates from proposed to release.

[Bug 1862531] Re: [focal] Wayland session is not available when a laptop has an Nvidia card an Intel card is in use

BTW, we don't want to remove the udev rule because removing it causes a
bigger problem for more people: bug 1705369

So a general fix like
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/merge_requests/625 would need to
exist before the udev rule can be removed.

[Bug 1862595] [NEW] Onedrive CLI client causes segmentation fault

Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or

3) What you expected to happen
I opened a new shell and typed "onedrive". It was supposed to synchronize my

[Bug 1862531] Re: [focal] Wayland session is not available when a laptop has an Nvidia card an Intel card is in use

2020-02-09 Thread Dmitrii Shcherbakov
Hi Daniel, thank you for the quick response and prior work.

I think the upstream check for the nvidia driver in 61-gdm.rules is too
broad to be useful as the nvidia driver might be loaded for other
reasons (e.g. CUDA usage or hw accelerated video encoding/decoding while
nvidia-drm.ko is blacklisted) so I believe I can come up with an issue
upstream.

[Bug 1855668] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2020-02-09 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From mranw...@us.ibm.com 2020-02-10 01:28 EDT---
I tried this out with the latest kernel in proposed. It looks like the -14
kernel picked up commit a356646a56857c2e5ad875beec734d7145ecd49a and that got
rid of the warns. I tired access to /dev/mem and got correct results.

[Bug 1862450] Re: g_type_class_add_private() deprecated

2020-02-09 Thread Jay
Hi Daniel,

I am using unlisted OS : NetBSD 8.1 Release PKGSRC2019Q4 AMD64
Application : Vala-panel-appmenu [
https://gitlab.com/vala-panel-project/vala-panel-appmenu/-/releases ]
bamf version : 0.5.4
Error : https://pastebin.com/9fUUabGF

Patch i applied :
`
SUBST_CLASSES+= fix-gtype
SUBST_STAGE.fix-gtype= pre-configure
SUBST_MESSAGE.fix-gtype=changing G_ADD_PRIVATE instead
g_type_class_add_private()
SUBST_FILES.fix-gtype+= work/*.c
SUBST_SED.fix-gtype+= -e
's,"g_type_class_add_private(),"G_ADD_PRIVATE(),g'
`
but G_ADD_PRIVATE(x) takes only one argument and older
g_type_class_add_private(x,y) took two ones.

Thanks,
Jay

[Bug 1862500] Re: Desktop icons are placed off-screen when using multiple monitors

2020-02-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I saw those. I was wondering how you know they're there if they're not
visible in the screenshot. But now I remember mutter/gnome-shell will
clip each screen so generally nothing will appear in those black
offscreen areas even in screenshots.

This issue might be caused by the absence of any screen in the usual
top-left corner (0,0). Regardless, if this is Ubuntu 18.04 then the
desktop icons are provided by nautilus-desktop, which is not being
developed any more, and not available in later Ubuntu versions :/

Note that the laptop's webcam is also not detected in the failing case

[Bug 1862584] [NEW] arcanist should depend on php-cli

2020-02-09 Thread Václav Šmilauer
Public bug reported:

After installing the arcanist package, arc replies with the following:

   PHP CONFIGURATION ERRORS

You need to install the cURL PHP extension, with 'apt-get install
php-curl'.

The message is

(1) misleading, as the suggested fix does not help; and

(2) such issue should be handled by package dependencies.

The fix is described e.g. https://davcri.github.io/posts/ubuntu-upgrade-
arcanist-fix/how-to-fix-arcanist-not-working/ and consists in installing
the php-cli package (verified bu yours truly).

Please add php-cli to arcanist Depends.

I am running bionic 18.04 LTS (up-to-date) and arcanist version is
0~git20170812-1.

[Bug 1860910] Re: ELAN Touchpad not working on Lenovo Thinkbook with Ubuntu 18.04 and 19.10

2020-02-09 Thread Nanditha Rao
Any response from this, from other than a bot?
My new Laptop Thinkbook i5 10th gen laptop's touchpad is not working. Lenovo
said that they do not support ubuntu, and cannot help here. They cannot replace
it with an older 8th gen laptop (on which the touchpad driver is available with
ubuntu).
Quick fix pls? This is urgent.

I think we should ignore the log messages after restarting and focus on
the original problem of corrupt sound. Bugs should only cover a single
issue.

[Bug 1862567] Re: [SRU][B/OEM-B] Fix multitouch support on some devices

2020-02-09 Thread AaronMa
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
Some LG touchscreens reported themselves as generic touch devices,
  actually it is multitouch devices.
Even after adding IDs in hid-multitouch, hid-generic will bind the device
still.
  multitouch features are not supported.

  [Fix]
commit e04a0442 make hid-generic work nicely with other drivers like
hid-multitouch.
If other drivers match the devices, hid-generic will step back.
This patch will benefit many devices to support their own drivers without
adding IDs.

  [Test]
Verified on LG/ELAN/RAYDIUM touchscreens with positive results.

  [Regression Potential]
  Medium.
commit e04a0442 is included by 4.16 kernel, only bionic kernel should be
applied.
This commit is based on the other 3 patches, mostly changes are moving codes
to hid-quirk.c.
+ Backports are during to the other backports patches, these changes are moved
to

[Bug 1853638] Re: BCM57416 NetXtreme-E Dual-Media 10G RDMA Ethernet device seems to be dropping data

2020-02-09 Thread Nivedita Singhvi
Hello Edwin,

Here is more information on the issue we are seeing wrt dropped
packets and other connectivity issues with this NIC.

The problem is *only* seen when the second port on the NIC is
chosen as the active interface of a active-backup configuration.

So on the "bad" system with the interfaces:

enp94s0f0 -> when chosen as active, all OK
enp94s0f1d1 -> when chosen as active, not OK

I'll see if the reporters can confirm that on the "good" systems,
there was no problem when the second interface is active.

[Bug 1862566] [NEW] Corrupt sound played

2020-02-09 Thread Jerry Quinn
Public bug reported:

Every once in a while, I get sort of static-y sound with a degree of
echo. This affects all sounds - within browser, using `play` from the
terminal, etc. I can solve it by restarting pulseaudio. However, when I
do that, I no longer get the terminal beep.

Ubuntu 18.04

It's not common, and I can't find anything wrong in the system log.

To restart, I killed the process:
  /usr/bin/pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog

It restarts itself, and audio generally seems to be working now.
However, I now see in the system log things like:

[Bug 1862563] [NEW] nvidia optimus vulkan layer is placed in the wrong directory

2020-02-09 Thread Philip Langdale
Public bug reported:

The vulkan layer file that is provided with the nvidia driver to control
which vulkan device appears as device 0 in hybrid configurations is
installed in the wrong location with the current packages, preventing it
from working.

It currently goes to: /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_layers.json

and it should go to:
/usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/nvidia_layers.json

Manually moving the file allows the layer to work.

[Bug 1856045] Re: capabilities set with setcap are not honoured

2020-02-09 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Well this is a consequence of this upstream change in iproute2:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/network/iproute2/iproute2.git/commit/?h=v4.16.0=ba2fc55b99f8363c80ce36681bc1ec97690b66f5.
Upstream discussion, such as it is, of the patch appears to be here:
https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/20180327162419.8962-1-bl...@debian.org/

Probably the next step is to email the netdev list about this. Is that
something you would be interested in doing? You are probably better able
to explain your use case than I am!

[Bug 1861070] Re: Raspberry Pi 4B: USB OTG is not working

2020-02-09 Thread Hui Wang
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ On the RPI4B board, the usb-c power port could also work as a USB
+ OTG mode, but we set the dwc2 driver to the host mode
+ unconditionally, now set it to dual_role mode, then it could work
+ in host/otg/peripheal mode.
+
+ [Fix]
+ Set USB_DWC2_DUAL_ROLE=y, USB_DWC2_HOST=n
+
+
+ [Test Case]
+ set the dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=[otg|peripheral] in the config.txt,
+ and isnmod the g_ether or g_cdc, on the host machine, we could see
+ RPI4B work as a usb device.
+
+ Because physical port limitation, could test dr_mode=host.
+
+ [Regression Risk]
+ Low, our eoan kernel choose dwc_otg driver for this port by default,
+ very very few users will choose dwc2 driver, and the dwc2 driver is
+ not enabled by default in our kernel.
+
+ And bug reporter and I already tested that the peripheral mode works
+ after this change.
+
+
I am using Raspberry Pi 4B (4GB) and want to make use of the OTG
functionality (g_ether). I cross checked with Raspbian to make sure it
is not a hardware issue. Extract from dmesg of Ubuntu 19.10.1 with
latest updates applied as of Jan 26th, 2020 via "apt-get update" and
  "apt-get full-upgrade":

  ...

I think it is that "Configuration mismatch. dr_mode forced to host" log
entry telling me that the port is acting as HOST mode instead of OTG
mode. I have try putting these in usercfg.txt

  "dtoverlay=dwc2"
  "dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=otg"
  "dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=peripheral"

and it will give the same result, no OTG functionality.

On the same hardware running Raspbian Buster, it initialise successfully.

[Bug 1410495] Re: Battery indicator goes Critical Red with more than 1 hour battery left

Same issue on Ubuntu 19.10. A red indicator with 4 hours (45%) of
battery left is counterintuitive. I find myself repeatedly clicking the
indicator when it turns red only to find out that I have several hours
left.

[Bug 1862281] Re: Repeatable hang within 5 minutes using stress-ng + sleep + usb mouse

Thanks. It sounds like the problem is either in Xorg or in the kernel.

Please log into "Ubuntu on Wayland" or install 'weston' and try that. We
need to know if the same bug occurs in a Wayland compositor without any
Xorg server running.

[Bug 1861373] Re: Random Restart Crash

Please report crash files using the 'ubuntu-bug' command only and don't
attach them to bugs. But good news: crashes in gnome-control-center are
not relevant here since that won't crash the whole system.

[Bug 1853707] Re: Whole system stopped responding because of single program's fault - no way out, had to force power off

2020-02-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I suggest the simplest solution to protecting the OS right now is to ask
the kernel to set a hard limit on individual process memory usage (e.g.
half your RAM size or something), by editing:

  /etc/security/limits.conf

or adding a new config file in:

  /etc/security/limits.d/
