[Bug 1865371] Re: Mouse Cursor or Touchpad indicator/pointer not working
I noticed something like this on my desktop system after upgrading. It only seems to affect Wayland sessions (i.e. GDM login screen and Ubuntu on Wayland). The mouse still works (i.e. desktop responds to clicks), but no cursor is drawn. Everything seems fine on my laptop though. The main differences between the two systems are: 1. Radeon graphics on the desktop vs. Intel on the laptop 2. dual monitors on the desktop 3. The desktop is using a "Thinkpad Compact USB Keyboard" as the mouse (i.e. single USB device exposing two HID interfaces). Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Was this a "System problem detected" and you were asked to submit this bug? If so please just say so. (and please just ignore the rest of my comment) If however you initiated this bug report, unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 1862706] Re: segfaults, dpkg script failures
Hello Colin, I'm not sure: - I'm now on 5.4.0-17-generic to try to debug a different issue - I believe I've fixed all the datasets that were failing to mount at boot time due to unexpected files or directories in the mountpoints - I don't know why zfs was segfaulting in the first place: it was my guess that it was handling the unmountable datasets very poorly, but that's a big guess. (A simple test of this now doesn't segfault.) I'm not confident that this been fixed; however, it's probably worth ignoring this issue for the time being. (Bug 1861359 feels far more important than this one, for example.) [Bug 1866881] Re: Autopkgtest regression triggered by Ruby 2.7
Can you identify if this is intended to be a temporary fix, or a normal fix? If it's just temporary, to test out if disabling the test is ok, then +1 to land it. However, if this is intended to be a semi-permanent fix to the problem, a couple suggestions: * Explain in whatever detail is available, what you think is causing the test failure. So when someone restores the test some day, they'll have some idea on what to check. * A link to a debian or upstream discussion/ticket about the issue would be a nice-to-have -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866881 Title: Autopkgtest regression triggered by Ruby 2.7 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puma/+bug/1866881/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1866926] Re: usb_modeswitch does not switch modems (remain visible as mass storage)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1866926/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Cloud-init should add static IP configuration for any secondary IPv4 of IPv6 addresses that a user has configured and attached to their instances so that network configuration work doesn't have to be done manually after initial system boot. To retain original behavior of stable ubuntu releases, ensure this automatic secondary IP address configuration can also be disabled. ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866930 Title: [FFe] ec2 add support for configuring secondary ipv4 and ipv6 addresses To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1866930/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The patch itself only reads hardware registers and prints the contents to the console, and does not do anything too serious. + (2) "affects an application" - changes are limited to nvme-cli only, as kernel support is already present. + + For case two: + This SRU will enable the use of Toshiba NVMe devices, while not affecting any existing NVMe devices from other manufacturers, since the subcommand is implemented alongside other manufactures subcommands, and does not modify any existing code. + + For case three: + The changes are unintrusive, again, to being limited to plugin which implements a new subcommand. The code itself is simplistic, and has not been dramatically modified since it first landed in upstream compared to the present day. The feature landed in nvme-cli version 1.6, which appears in cosmic onwards, meaning upgrading from bionic to a newer release will not cause upgrade regressions. + + I did a diff of the proposed patch to the current upstream master + branch, and the new changes are more or less cosmetic: + + https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/TBy3HbPGV6/ + + If you want to review each commit to current master branch, I have + provided them below: + + e5786ad argconfig: Remove unused paramters + 1d37bc9 nvme-cli: Code cleanup + 507ded5 nvme-vendor: fix c99 declarations in vendor plugins + f392181 Refactor plugins in a file hierarchy + + We have included one fixup commit already in this SRU, check [Other + Info] for details. + + I will ask a customer to test the package on real hardware soon, and try + and get a printout of their session. + + As such, I believe this will not introduce any regressions. If a + regression were to happen it would be limited to the "nvme toshiba" + subcommand, and not any other nvme-cli functionality. + + [Other Info] + + The commits which add support for Toshiba devices are: + + commit 3d52c76a74a5fe894d9fbfcdfc9c713958f5717f + Author: Andrew Meir + Date: Wed Mar 28 17:42:53 2018 +0200 + Subject: Add toshiba plugin code and command documentation. + Link: https://github.com/linux-nvme/nvme-cli/commit/3d52c76a74a5fe894d9fbfcdfc9c713958f5717f + + commit daf7b2d2cb53d8621444113503739b327091bec5 + Author: Andrew Meir + Date: Wed Mar 28 20:21:34 2018 +0200 + Subject: Add toshiba plugin to makefile rules. + Link: https://github.com/linux-nvme/nvme-cli/commit/daf7b2d2cb53d8621444113503739b327091bec5 + + There is also a fixup commit which is required, and is a part of this + SRU: + + commit 5e9239edb89dd753352a8e981502f42b9d7be87c + Author: Andrew Meir + Date: Fri Apr 13 14:51:17 2018 +0200

[Bug 1866925] [NEW] wrong gcc version for kernel prevents DKMS working
Public bug reported: Fresh install of minimal LUbuntu 18.04, fully updated (with new kernel). Install of NVIDIA graphics card drivers from NVIDIA script. DKMS (needed for re-compile with new kernel versions) fails as the available gcc is 7.5.0 from 18.04 and the gcc used for compiling the kernel was 7.4.0 from 18.01. The gcc for the running kernel is no longer available for installation. This mismatch is the bug. There are two alternative solutions: 1. ensure the gcc versions used to compile the available kernels are also available. 2. ensure the kernels are always compiled with the latest available gcc. The former is probably a better solution as the latter may cause unnecessary kernel recompiles as the gcc versions change. The former may require multiple installed versions of gcc, one for each installed kernel version, which would need a method of picking the gcc version which matches the kernel. It would also be useful if one of the meta-packages ensured that the installed gcc matches the installed kernel's compiler. ``` $ uname -a Linux xx 5.3.0-40-generic #32~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 3 14:05:59 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ``` ``` $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS Release:18.04 ``` ... [Bug 1866923] [NEW] Wifi connection says it's connected but this is not true after the computer goes into a sleep status
Public bug reported: The wifi is connected and working correctly when powered on, however when I close the laptop lid, which I think puts it to sleep, and then reopen it, it says it's connected according to the icon but this is not true. A workaround is turning on Airplane mode and then switching it back on again. It then reconnects and is then fine again. Unless I close the lid and then the process repeats again. I guess this is to do with the wifi driver but I don't know what package it is so I just picked network-manager, sorry - I'm trying :) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.10 Package: network-manager 1.20.4-2ubuntu2.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.3.0-18.19-generic 5.3.1 Uname: Linux 5.3.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu8.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Tue Mar 10 19:29:03 2020 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-03-09 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 19.10 "Eoan Ermine" - Release amd64 (20191017) IpRoute: default via 192.168.68.1 dev wlp1s0 proto dhcp metric 600 169.254.0.0/16 dev docker0 scope link metric 1000 linkdown 172.17.0.0/16 dev docker0 proto kernel scope link src 172.17.0.1 linkdown 192.168.68.0/24 dev wlp1s0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.68.18 metric 600 SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) nmcli-nm: RUNNING VERSION STATE STARTUP CONNECTIVITY NETWORKING WIFI-HW WIFI WWAN-HW WWAN running 1.20.4 connected started full enabled enabled enabled enabled enabled ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug eoan wifi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866923 Title: Wifi connection says it's connected but this is not true after the computer goes into a sleep status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1866923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
