Note also that choosing 'Ubuntu on Wayland' from the login screen should

[Bug 1867868] Re: Mailnag, the Sleeping Beauty

2020-03-17 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1867868

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

I'll mark this incomplete, as you've not provided any details as to
whether you are running a server, desktop, or your mention of 'mailnag'
refers to the `mailnag` package
(https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=all=names=mailnag.

When you provide extra details, or clarify your issue please change the
status to "New". Also if you believe I'm in error, please leave a
comment explaining why and the status can also be changed back to "New".
Some details (such as your release which is reuiqred) will be provided
when you run `apport-collect` as requested. Thanks again for helping
make Ubuntu better.

By running ubuntu-bug _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.0.crash I got a dialogue with a
checkbox to remember to report this error automatically. Once I checked the
box the error does not pop up with every boot anymore. I also had to manually

[Bug 1865170] Re: lid close simply turns off laptop screen

2020-03-17 Thread Colton Donnelly
Sorry for the delay, I've been rather busy. I was finally able to try a
newer build of the latest mainline tonight, so I just tried it.

I tried using v5.6-rc4 but that failed to install, and it seems like
v5.6-rc6 isn't building properly, so I went with v5.6-rc5.

The issue actually seems worse. In the dmesg output attached, you can see that
the desync is much more spread out.
~47s close laptop lid
~57s open laptop lid
~60s password entered (GNOME did lock)
~70s laptop goes to sleep
~84s I wake laptop using power button

I'm having a few additional issues with my laptop that weren't quite
happening out of the box, so I'm going to go ahead and do a full
reinstall of my system -- I suspect I may have gone digging deep into
some system configurations in my sleep.

I'll do a full system backup before the reinstall, though, so that I can
do further bug hunting, when I'm available?field.comment=Sorry for the

[Bug 1867861] [NEW] Cloudprint suddenly started crashing on startup

2020-03-17 Thread Jeff K
Public bug reported:

Cloudprint has been working reliably for more than a year on my Ubuntu 18.04
system.
Currently I have cloudprint-0.14-9 installed.
I am unaware of any recent changes to my system other than standard apt-get
updates.

All of a sudden cloudprint stopped working... it stopped printing and
https://www.google.com/cloudprint?authuser=1#printers showed my printers
offline.

Whenever I try to restart, I get the following traceback error:

[Bug 1867845] Re: Clicking "install" icon from Live desktop does nothing

2020-03-17 Thread MarkF
I had the reported behavior with today's Budgie daily image.

I tried installing today's daily image using both UEFI & CSM bios
settings. That didn't make a difference.

I have installed Xubuntu & Budgie to this laptop before. The last time
was March 3.

[Bug 1313279] Re: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint command

2020-03-17 Thread Carlo Wood
I'm running ubuntu 18.04 and have the same problems with USB 3.0.
The ONLY way to get it to work at all ever is to turn iommu off in the bios
and use iommu=soft as kernel parameter (as is described as the "solution"
on many forums) AND I need to have certain device plugged into USB and/or
something else magical that I didn't pin point.

Anyway, once USB 3 works, it keeps working until I turn off a device
(Valve Index headset), or rather when I quit steam, I get the following
dmesg:

[ 7211.963003] xhci_hcd :04:00.0: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint
command.
[ 7211.963019] xhci_hcd :04:00.0: xHCI host controller not responding,
assume dead
[ 7211.963037] xhci_hcd :04:00.0: HC died; cleaning up

[ 7212.213010] usb 10-2.3.5: USB disconnect, device number 13

which were the connected USB 3 devices.

After that those USB plugs are dead. I have no figured out how
or even if it is possible to revive them without a reboot.

[Bug 1867760] Re: zorg crashes on every time on boot

2020-03-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

Please:

1. Check for any files in /var/crash/ and if found then follow these
instructions:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment

2. Uninstall all of these extensions:

'update-extensi...@franglais125.gmail.com',

'vit...@corecoding.com', 'appindicatorsupp...@rgcjonas.gmail.com',
'zorin-appindica...@zorinos.com',
'easyscreenc...@iacopodeenosee.gmail.com'

We need to try uninstalling extensions because they are the cause of
bugs so frequently. And they need to be uninstalled and not just
disabled because a disabled extension can still interfere with the
shell.

[Bug 1867668] Re: Visual artifacts in Gnome Shell after upgrading to 20.04

2020-03-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. I can see a couple of problems with the machine now, which could
cause this bug:

1. You have the old 'intel' graphics driver enabled. That's no longer
being maintained and should not be used, especially on newer hardware
like yours. Please ensure your Xorg config files do not load the 'intel'
driver and if in doubt just uninstall it:

  sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-video-intel

You should be using the newer 'modesetting' driver which is also the
default.

2. You have a number of extensions installed:

b'org.gnome.shell' b'enabled-extensions'
b"['donotdist...@kylecorry31.github.io', 'docker-
integrat...@jan.trejbal.gmail.com', 'gsconn...@andyholmes.github.io',
'multi-monitors-add-on@spin83', 'custom-hot-corn...@janrunx.gmail.com',
'autohide-batt...@sitnik.ru', 'clipboard-indica...@tudmotu.com',
'openweather-extens...@jenslody.de', 'places-menu@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'sound-output-device-
choo...@kgshank.net']"

so if removing the intel graphics driver hasn't already fixed the bug
then please try to uninstall all of those extensions. Yes uninstall and
not just disable, because a disabled extension can still interfere with
the shell.

[Bug 1840725] Re: Microphone not working in Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS on new hp-spectre-x360-convertible-15 laptop

2020-03-17 Thread Ícaro Gonçalves Siqueira
Same issue on Dell G3-3590 i7 gtx1660, worked for 2 months and now
simply stopped, started without audio that i solved with this:

" I used to change /etc/default/grub to have this line

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="loglevel=3 quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor
acpi_osi='!Windows 2013' acpi_osi='!Windows 2012' snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0"
Then run in terminal

grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg "

I get this solution from here:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=251157

Now audio works fine, with and without headphone. But the problem now is
that the internal microphone is not detected. And when the headphone
(with dont have microphone) is connected he is detected in input devices
list as if it was a microphone.

and when I added this: options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=laptop-dmic
on: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

a internal mic appears in the input device list but still not detecting
audio, and the headphone is not detected in the input list anymore, but
audio still working...

Version 0.5.0+dfsg-2 of libcbor as packaged in focal appears to have
significant unaligned data access problems.

The version in github appears to be fixed: see eg
https://github.com/PJK/libcbor/commit/c745f6b88a739e700c6ea2baa96bcfef1d51cc0f

We need to update libcbor before we can use this library.

2020-03-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package apport - 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.22

---
apport (2.20.1-0ubuntu2.22) xenial-security; urgency=medium

  [ Michael Hudson-Doyle ]
  * SECURITY REGRESSION: fix autopkgtest failures since recent security
update (LP: #1854237)
- Fix regression in creating report for crashing setuid process by getting
kernel to tell us the executable path rather than reading
  /proc/[pid]/exe.
- Fix deletion of partially written core files.
- Fix test_get_logind_session to use new API.
- Restore add_proc_info raising ValueError for a dead process.
- Delete test_lock_symlink, no longer applicable now that the lock is
created in a directory only root can write to.

  [ Tiago Stürmer Daitx ]
  * SECURITY REGRESSION: 'module' object has no attribute 'O_PATH'
(LP: #1851806)
- apport/report.py, apport/ui.py: use file descriptors for /proc/pid
directory access only when running under python 3; prevent reading /proc
maps under python 2 as it does not provide a secure way to do so; use
io.open for better compatibility between python 2 and 3.
  * data/apport: fix number of arguments passed through socks into a container.
  * test/test_report.py: test login session with both pid and proc_pid_fd.
  * test/test_apport_valgrind.py: skip test_sandbox_cache_options if system
has little memory.
  * test/test_ui.py: modify run_crash_kernel test to account for the fact that
linux-image-$kvers-$flavor is now built from the linux-signed source
package on amd64 and ppc64el. (LP: #1766740)

[Bug 1867386] Re: Beast frontend does not allow tuning of maximum backlog of pending connections

2020-03-17 Thread Tiago Pasqualini da Silva
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
Currently, RGW has no option to configure the maximum size for the queue
of connections waiting to be accepted when using the Beast frontend.
Instead, it uses the value from
  boost::asio::socket_base::max_connections.

+ [Test Case]
+
+ Add the 'max_connection_backlog' config option to the RGW beast frontend
+ configuration and check that it is ignored and not used.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ This change has been reviewed upstream and have been passed through the
+ usual upstream ceph QA tests.
+
+ [Other info]
+
This bug is similar to 1838109, which reports the same issue but for the
  civetweb frontend.

[Bug 1712520] Re: [17.04][gnome] screen hanged after meld launched via terminal was put to sleep by C-z: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

2020-03-17 Thread aPlatypus
I am getting this message very very frequently.

   Ubuntu 19.10

from the command line. The most intersting thing is that I may have 5
or 6 bash windows open. Aftetr executiong Meld from one terminal
window. If I subsequently use meld from a Different teminal session,
these errors spray-out on that first terminal's window:

 :
   2020-03-18 11:52:47,201 CRITICAL Gtk: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion
'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
   2020-03-18 11:52:47,201 CRITICAL Gtk: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion
'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
   2020-03-18 11:52:47,201 CRITICAL Gtk: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion

   2020-03-18 11:52:47,201 CRITICAL Gtk: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion
'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

I execute meld with the following command

   nohup meld "${@}" > /dev/null 2>&1 &

Which sends output to dev/null. I am very surprised to see these
messages coming on any screen since the output is sent to null.

It looks to me like there's some kind of service involved not the
actuall meld background process

[Bug 1846718] Re: Pressing and holding the Super key should display numbers [1-9] on the dock icons before pressing any number key

2020-03-17 Thread Treviño
This is not really much possible right now from an extension without
changes to mutter.

However, the dock supports a key combination (Super+Q by default) to see
the accelerator numbers, so I hope this is enough to get what you need.

[Bug 1859754] Re: add ucm to make alsa/sof driver work under PA (variants of Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th, Dell cnl and cml machines)

2020-03-17 Thread Hui Wang
@Devin and Michael,

That is because the X1C7 has too many configs: like different cpu,
different ramsize or different disk size, each config has a unique
cardlongname. And For this SRU, we only covered the configs we need to
certify in our OEM enablement project.

LENOVO noticed this issue too, they told us the alsa-lib could find and
load the ucm by the first 3 letters of BIOS_VERSION, so I am going to
submit a new SRU with this solution soon. With that solution landed in
the alsa-lib, all x1c7 could use one ucm.

So could you please upload the output of cat
/sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/bios_version, let us see if the first 3
letters of bios_version are same or not among all x1c7 machines.

@sil2100,

Since the current SRU already covered all machines we enabled in the OEM
project and they all worked well, please release it. Then I will cover
the left machines in a new SRU.

thx.

[Bug 1867806] Re: why when i create an icon on the desktop that if goes behind the launcher

2020-03-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1867806/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
