I am thinking this might be a duplicate of some other bug, depending on
whether the system log shows an assertion failure.

[Bug 1871329] Re: No "Select Audio Device" panel when plugging headphones, and no sound output to headphones

2020-04-08 Thread Rex Tsai
This is a known issue[1][2]. This will remain as a known limitation at
the moment - headphone would be recognized as headset, and no prompt to
users to overwrite it, and Intel is still working towards a long term
fix to it.

[Bug 1870726] Re: [vboxvideo] Xorg crashes on startup using modeset with vboxvideo kernel driver

2020-04-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
** Description changed:

+ WORKAROUND:
+
+ Select "Ubuntu on Wayland" from the login screen before logging in.
+
+ ---
+
  * Ubuntu Focal Fossa 20.04 (dev)
  * xorg:
    Installed: 1:7.7+19ubuntu14
    Candidate: 1:7.7+19ubuntu1
  * VirtualBox version : 5.2.34_Ubuntu r133883 (installed via apt)

  Expected : Show desktop after login
  Happened : On login screen, when password is entered correctly, it gets into
a loop and shows the login screen again. But, it takes me to desktop properly
if Ubuntu on Wayland is selected.

  Steps to reproduce :
  1) Install Ubuntu 20 on an Oracle VirtualBox
  2) Start a live session
  3) Click the install button (Entire disk, Apply updates automatic)
  4) After reboot, try to login.

[Bug 1866537] Re: Show desktop shortcut doesnt work

2020-04-08 Thread Sean Davis
I think I figured out what's happening. xfwm4 is still adding the Ctrl +
Alt + D shortcut for new users. Try this and let me know if it works.

1. Apply the attached diff to
/etc/xdg/xdg-xubuntu/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml
2. Create a new user (Menu > Users and Groups)
3. Login as the new user
4. Test the Super + D shortcut

[Bug 1871695] Re: Bluetoothd uses 100% of a CPU thread

2020-04-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I would like to see a stack trace of the busy bluetoothd process, which
means killing it in a way that it will dump core and create a crash
report. But that won't work right now because of bug 1870060.

Intead, please attach 'gdb' (run it as root) to the busy bluetoothd
process and then run 'bt' in gdb to get a backtrace.

[Bug 1808060] Re: libmirclient causes multiarch SDL2 headers to conflict with each other

2020-04-08 Thread q4a
My steps to dirty fix:
find libmirclient-dev_*_i386.deb in /var/cache/apt/archives
I have libmirclient-dev_1.4.0-0ubuntu3_i386.deb. If you don't have - find one
in launchpad.
Then:
$ mkdir tmp
$ dpkg-deb -R libmirclient-dev_1.4.0-0ubuntu3_i386.deb tmp
// remove tmp/usr/include and tmp/usr/share (that files alredy installed by
libmirclient-dev:amd64)
// remove this lines from tmp/DEBIAN/control
Breaks: libmirclientcpp-dev
Replaces: libmirclientcpp-dev
Provides: libmirclientcpp-dev (= 1.5)
// Then back to terminal:
$ dpkg-deb -b tmp libmirclient-dev_1.4.0-0ubuntu3_FIX_i386.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i libmirclient-dev_1.4.0-0ubuntu3_FIX_i386.deb

Sorry, yes, Turning the mouse off and on also alleviates the problem,

I read up on apport (Ubuntu Wiki) and it doesn't seem to be the right
tool for the current bug, mainly because the bug doesn't seem to meet
any of these conditions: "segmentation violation, bus error, floating

[Bug 1800965] Re: Browsers don't display Devanagari script correctly

2020-04-08 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I made an attempt to address this bug via another package. The language-
selector-common package installs /etc/fonts/conf.avail/64-language-
selector-prefer.conf, and I added "Lohit Devanagari" (installed by
default) to that file.

https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/ubuntu/+source/language-
selector/commit/?id=0496ecdc

It has not been uploaded yet, and it would be great if you could confirm
that the change fixes the issue in this bug.

** Also affects: language-selector (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => Low

** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => In Progress
