[Bug 1872402] [NEW] drobo-utils out of date - "No Drobos detected" for newer models of Drobo

2020-04-12 Thread James Cuzella
Public bug reported:

drobo-utils package is out of date with upstream.

Ubuntu version: 0.6.1+repack-2
Upstream version: 0.6.2.2

This project needs to be updated to support newer Drobo models with
vendor string "Drobo". Older models have a different string "Data
Robotics". Details can be found here:

http://drobo-utils.sourceforge.net/#no-drobos-discovered

Running the following command will result in "No Drobos discovered":

$ sudo drobom  -v 16 status
examining: /dev/sdh
id: (15, 0, 0, 0, 'Drobo\x00\x00\x00')
rejected: vendor is Drobo (not from DRI)
examining: /dev/sdi
id: (15, 0, 0, 1, 'Drobo\x00\x00\x00')
rejected: vendor is Drobo (not from DRI)
returning list: []
No Drobos discovered

Updating the package to the pre-built one from SourceForge adds support for
newer models of Drobo.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/drobo-utils/files/

Confirmed working on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (bionic)!

Running same command after updating drobo-utils to latest works:

$ sudo drobom  -v 16 status

[Bug 1870184] Re: Snap store not showing ubuntu repository apt apps inthe store

2020-04-12 Thread corrado venturini
Two new installations on different hardware from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa"

After install of gnome-software, update+upgrade, snap refresh and various
reboot snap-store still ignores apt apps.
snaps are not integrated with the system, ubuntu-bug does not work so users
can't give a good feedback to developers.

[Bug 661523] Re: droboview can't retrieve diagnostics from device

2020-04-12 Thread James Cuzella
The current package version in Ubuntu 16.04 is: 0.6.1+repack-2
Unfortunately it lacks the support for newer Drobo models with vendor id:
"Drobo". Older Drobo models have vendor string "Data Robotics", which this
version of drobo-utils does not know how to identify still as of 0.6.1+repack-2
Debian package.

The upstream project has a prebuilt .deb package with version 0.6.2.2
with support for newer Drobo models:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/drobo-utils/

This project's package needs to be updated

[Bug 1507170] Re: hfsprogs in Ubuntu is very old (2009 release), please update to latest 576 release

2020-04-12 Thread James Cuzella
@hjd: Thanks for the quick response! As you pointed out, it looks like
the upstream bug report has more info and discussion here:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=765104

So far, no movement since February 2019 from the maintainer and some
offers of help from others in maintaining it. I guess we can hope that
it can be picked up by another maintainer or two that have some time to
do it.

[Bug 1840854] Re: mlx5_core reports hardware checksum error for padded packets on Mellanox NICs

2020-04-12 Thread Jens Elkner
Hi Jeff,

hmm, didn't get notified by launchpad about your answer :(((. Anyway,
tried another machine with 4.15.0-91-generic and indeed, it seems to be
fixed.

Now the problem is, that our GPU machines are running 4.15.0-58-generic
and cannot be upgraded because all the nvidia stuff is very picky and we
do not have the time to upgrade the cluster to a new kernel version.

Therefore the question: is this just a driver problem? Copying over the
kmod from a 4.15.0-91 isn't probably a problem, I guess. Or rebuilding
the kmod for 4.15.0-58 may work out of the box as well...

[Bug 905147]

2020-04-12 Thread Kevin-kofler
The issue in this bug is already resolved in upstream Qt.

Your issue is a different issue, i.e., that there is no UI to set
default margins. Any settings you make in the print dialog are not
intended to be stored as defaults.

The place where you set default settings is using the print-manager KCM,
i.e., the Printer tab in Plasma System Settings. But there is no setting
for margins there. And of course not for "Force rasterization" which is
an Okular-specific setting.

[Bug 905147]

2020-04-12 Thread 4-a-g
Sorry, it seems that the issue isn't resolved.
Okular doesn't save the margins values nor the "Force rasterization" checkbox.
If I try to set the values as default, the print tool ignores them while a
command-line lp works :
lpoptions -p Zebra -o page-bottom=0 -o page-left=0 -o page-right=0 -o
page-top=0 -o fitplot

Kubuntu 19.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0
Qt Version: 5.12.4

Quite the same as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404510 or
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383697
So I tried with Kate and the values are saved in katerc :
[Kate Print Settings][Margins]
bottom=0
left=0
right=0
top=0

Strangely I just migrated from Kubuntu 14.04 (KDE 4.13) to Kubuntu 19.04
(KDE 5.62) and I didn't face this issue on the previous computer.

[Bug 1872392] [NEW] Ubuntu Studio Installer makes a mess of Ubuntu's "Show Applications" screen

2020-04-12 Thread Ken T
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
Install Ubuntu 20.04 beta (vanilla)
Install Ubuntu Studio tools via official installer

(See screenshot)
Before installing Studio's tools, the "Show Applications" screen showed actual
applications. Now, that screen has increased from 2 pages of apps to 10 (!!!),
and is cluttered up with a bunch of things that aren't stand-alone apps, for
example:
- AT1 / Zita AT1: can be clicked on from the "Show applications" screen, but
seemingly does nothing
- lots of things that I presume are audio or video filters, or other plug-ins
for Studio applications. These plug-ins have an icon that reads "LSP" and
include Analysers, Compressors, Delay Effects, etc.

Preferred behaviour:
1) Hide filters & plug-ins from the "Show Applications" screen, & display them
separately to apps. Maybe viewable under a dedicated tab?

2) Make it easily apparent to tell which filters/plug-ins are associated
with which app or apps.

Thanks,
Ken.

[Bug 1872389] [NEW] minor usability quirk at package selection screen

2020-04-12 Thread Ken T
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
Install Ubuntu 20.04 beta
Install Ubuntu Tools on top with official installer

On the package selection screen, select whichever packages you want from
the left-hand sidebar (I'm pretty sure I selected all of them, but
possibly not the bottom one.) Then press the "enable backports PPA"
button, and all the packages you've just selected are de-selected, and
you then need to go and reselect each package before proceeding. Not
difficult, but less than optimal.

Preferred behaviour:
If enabling the backports PPA needs to occur before selecting packages, make
that step precede package selection;
OR
retain present installer workflow, but don't de-select packages when the
"enable backports PPA" is pressed.

Another improvement would see an option for "select all Ubuntu Studio
packages" (probably excluding gnome-branding), rather than having to
select each package individually. I think this might be like a "full
install / custom install" kind of option, such as seen in VLC, Libre
Office, etc.

Thanks,
Ken.

[Bug 1872386] [NEW] Minor cosmetic issues in ubuntustudio-installer

2020-04-12 Thread Ken T
Public bug reported:

1) One typo in a dialogue box, and 2) poorly-formatted text in another
dialogue box.

Steps to reproduce:
Install Ubuntu 20.04 beta (vanilla)
Install Ubuntu Studio tools on top of this, using the official installer. Both
dialogue boxes appear either near or at the end of the install process.

1) Typo:
(See screenshot) "All Ubuntu Studio packages are all ready installed" - should
be "...are already installed"

2) A dialogue box popped up at the end of the install process, saying
something like "restart computer in order to access Real-time kernel
functionality". I didn't grab a screenshot of it, but the text in this
dialogue box is poorly-formatted & in an odd, heavy font.

Thanks,
Ken.

[Bug 1872331] Re: Several packages suggest the "python" package, which doesn't exist in Focal

2020-04-12 Thread Dandromb
I have no tested patches, as I don't use these packages. Just trying to
catalog the TODOs.

I am also, perhaps more-importantly, unfamiliar with the workflow to
create patches for this, but I could get involved with trying to fix
them if I knew how.

- What source tracker is it (git, bazaar, etc) and where are the repo links for
these packages?
- Would I be able to upload my patch in my own forked code repo or just post
patches as text?
  - Where to post patches to get them seen or reviewed?
- Any docs/cheat sheets to get up to speed with this workflow?

[Bug 1872380] Re: alsa/sof: headphone can't be detected when sof driver enters rt_suspend

2020-04-12 Thread Hui Wang
** Description changed:

- this bug is for trakcing purpose
+ This patchset is already in the linux-oem-osp1 and focal, so only eoan
+ kernel needs this patchset
+
+
+ [Impact]
+ When users plug a headset/headphone into the audio jack, the driver
+ can't detect them, if users open the gnome-sound-setting, then the
+ driver could detect them.
+
+ [Fix]
+ Before driver enters runtime_suspend, need to set the WAKEEN, then
+ the plug/unplugging will trigger unsol event to the driver.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ boot the kenrel, plug/unplug the headset/headphone, run amixer contents
+ to check the "Jack Headpone" state
+
+ [Regression Risk]
+ Low, those patches come from mainline kernel, I have tested those patches
+ on Dell and Lenovo machines, they all worked well.

[Bug 1872382] [NEW] Folder Icons for 'Public' and 'Templates' aren't default in Kubuntu Focal

2020-04-12 Thread Ryan Johnson
Public bug reported:

In Kubuntu 20.04 LTS, there is a visual inconsistency present with the
default set of folders in the user's home directory. Note in the
screenshot (or in a fresh installation) how most of the folders in the
home directory have folder icons with a symbols representing the use for
that folder. The 'Public' and 'Templates' folders however, for whatever
reason, do not.

== Why does this matter? ==
Given that this release will be an LTS, it will be used by thousands of people
for at least 5 years. I believe that fixing small details like this issue will
help to increase the overall polish and professionalism of the distribution
that will last for those years to come. Other distributions, such as Ubuntu
itself, Mint, Fedora, and operating systems like macOS and Windows have
symbolic icons on all of their default folders as well, so fixing this paper
cut would help bring Kubuntu at parity.

== How trivial is this bug? How easy is this to fix? ==
Admittedly, pretty trivial. I've been resolving this issue in the past by right
clicking both folders in Dolphin, selecting 'Properties', clicking the icon,
and searching "folder- " in the search box. Then the 'folder-public' and
'folder-templates' icons can be selected.

As such, I assume that this paper cut is also super easy to patch before
the final freeze. I don't know what specific package(s) deals with
adjusting the icons on the user folders though, so if there are any
developers that can provide guidance or make a quick patch I would be
very appreciative!

Just to note. I've upgraded my system to Ubuntu 20.04 and this issue is
no longer present.

The applications now all appear correctly on the primary monitor:
https://imgur.com/a/VztCiu2

The issue seems to be specific to version 19.10

[Bug 1871129] Re: htop is blank when using in focal in wsl1

2020-04-12 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
rafaeldtinoco@wsl1:~$ sudo apt-mark hold libc6
libc6 set on hold.

rafaeldtinoco@wsl1:~$ dpkg -l libc6
hi libc6:amd642.31-0ubuntu8+lp1871129~1 amd64GNU C Library: Shared
libraries

Not sure how much time upstream will take to fix this bug, so make sure
to mark libc6 as "hold" so it does not get upgraded. The version I'm
using for the mitigation is: 2.31-0ubuntu8+lp1871129~1. It is the latest
for today but won't be if there is some stable release upgrade for glibc
(libc6) landing in the archive.

I confirm "htop" works good with this mitigation.

Thanks for the reply. To be honest I've tried to rely as much as
possible on existing code.

Thanks for the idea. I tried it further and at first glance it seems to work
pretty well - now I have shell history per terminal/tab along with the
scrollback history and all of this is restored across reboots. And this by
simply adding a small snippet to .bashrc:

PROMPT_COMMAND="history -a; history -c; history -r; $PROMPT_COMMAND"
if [ ! -z "$TAB_ID" ]; then
HISTFILE_DIR=$HOME/shell_history
HISTFILE_ARCHIVE_DIR=$HISTFILE_DIR/archive
mkdir -m 700 -p $HISTFILE_DIR
mkdir -m 700 -p $HISTFILE_ARCHIVE_DIR
HISTFILE_DEST=$HISTFILE_DIR/$TAB_ID
HISTFILE_ARCHIVE_DEST=$HISTFILE_ARCHIVE_DIR/$TAB_ID

function pop_shell_history {
if [ -f "$HISTFILE_ARCHIVE_DEST" ]; then
# revive from archive
mv $HISTFILE_ARCHIVE_DEST $HISTFILE_DEST
elif [ ! -f $HISTFILE_DEST ]; then
# combine history from all existing tabs
# or we'll start with an empty list but
# it's slightly better to have history from
# recent tabs
for hist in $(find $HISTFILE_DIR -maxdepth 1 -type f)
do
   cat $hist >> $HISTFILE_DEST
done
fi
HISTFILE=$HISTFILE_DEST
}
# peek at archive
pop_shell_history

function push_shell_history {
history -a; mv $HISTFILE_DEST $HISTFILE_ARCHIVE_DIR
}

# on exit save shell history in the archive
trap push_shell_history EXIT
fi

A rough edge is that archive are not deleted if a terminal is closed.
This may be easily adapted to other shells.
Apart from the edges it's nice to fully restore your workspace across reboots!
No engineer throws workspace at the end of the day just to start from scratch
tomorrow.

Regards

Why not tie history per terminal tab? I guess shells HISTFILE variable
could be used for that.

[Bug 1550898]

2020-04-12 Thread Jarno Suni
Boris, your patch sound good. I did not try it yet, because I am not
used to building Xfce software from source.

Another approach is that terminal has its own session management
independent of xfce session like many web browsers do, so it would
remember tabs, current directories and history for each tab. Possibly
user could save several sessions and open them. Maybe that would not
work well together with xfce session, though.

I ran boot repair info - https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/dS9XkCR9yF/
I tried boot repair with this output - https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/FtS7dyRsnK/

One thing I have determined is that disabling SGX in the bios will avoid
the second error of "cannot allocate kernel buffer", however it still
won't boot, just black screens forever. Not sure if this is a step
forward or backwards.

Hi!

WiFi infrastructure: 5x Ubiquiti UAP-AC-Pro, firmware 4.0.54.10625

With an Intel AX200 [I think also with 9000 series, but don't
nail me to this] iwlwifi is sometimes spilling my dmesg with "Unhandled alg:
0x707" on a WPA2-PSK/CCMP ESS. But only if I am connected to 5GHz.

In dmesg you see it stops if I roam to 2.4GHz, but starts again as soon
as I roam back to 5GHZ.

Throughput on 5GHz is thus limited to some little kb/s.

After 15 minutes it suddenly stopped. I tried roaming again. That led to

2020-04-12 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1872366/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

When I click the "Show Applications" button, all the applications are displayed
over on the right hand side of the primary screen. The dots to indicate which

This only happens when using a second display.

[Bug 1848771]

2020-04-12 Thread yu.c.chen
Ferry, Chris,
I thought you were trying to test hibernation. Let's switch back to
suspend to mem.
The first thing is to figure out what suspend mode you are using:
1. boot with the same kernel with TPM disabled.
2. cat /sys/power/mem_sleep,
echo 'N' > /sys/module/printk/parameters/console_suspend
echo 'Y' > /sys/module/printk/parameters/initcall_debug
and leverage pm_test mode to narrow down:

3. echo different mode to /sys/power/pm_test
start from right to left (freezer to devices to platform...)
[none] core processors platform devices freezer
check if the system could resume back within 5 seconds.

For example:
  echo freezer > /sys/power/pm_test
  echo mem > /sys/power/state

if succeed to resume back, then:
save the dmesg and launch the next test mode:
  echo devices> /sys/power/pm_test
  echo mem > /sys/power/state

and go on util you see a hang during resume.

[Bug 1872375] [NEW] AMDGPU driver crashes when resuming from sleep if a ffmpeg-vaapi encoding backend is being used

2020-04-12 Thread Luca Osvaldo Mastromatteo
Public bug reported:

Good morning, I'm writing this because is pretty much easily
reproduceable in this hardware

I discovered this when I set up an automatic permanent replay-recording
in OBS, using FFMPEG VAAPI backend

I usually put the system to sleep, and pretty much 100% of the times so
far when OBS is recording something AND is using the ffmpeg-vaapi
backend, putting the system to sleep and then waking it back, causes the
amdgpu driver to crash no matter what

Any other sleep/standby test made without recording using ffmpeg-vaapi
(even using default ffmpeg software x264 backend) has not made the
driver crash so far

My setup:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
GPU: AMD Sapphire RX 580 8GB
RAM: 12GB DDR4 (3x4GB)
System: Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa
Desktop: GNOME 3.36.1
Kernel: 5.4.0-21-generic #25-Ubuntu
Display server: X.org

Here is the system crashing logs dmesg

[Bug 1872373] Re: zfs patches needed for 5.7

2020-04-12 Thread satmandu
This is a script which can be used to update the zfs-dkms package
locally.

I imagine it doesn't make sense to update the final package until later
in the 5.7 rc series...

[Bug 1872373] [NEW] zfs patches needed for 5.7

2020-04-12 Thread satmandu
Public bug reported:

As per https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/pull/10187 there is now a patch
for Linux 5.7 compat: blk_alloc_queue(). Of course there may be more
patches for the 5.7 series.

I've hacked up the patch to backport it to work with the 0.8.x series.

It appears to work: zfs, 0.8.3, 5.7.0-050700rc1-generic, x86_64:
installed

The changes to zvol.c may be somewhat questionable.

** Affects: zfs-linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Patch added: "Patch tested with 5.7.0-050700rc1-generic &
zfs-dkms_0.8.3-1ubuntu11"

[Bug 1865962] Re: Dell XPS 13 9300 Intel 1650S wifi [34f0:1651] fails to load firmware

2020-04-12 Thread Tim Tierney
Just diagnosed my fathers brand new System 76 laptop. Same issue. Just
got GRUB to boot 5.3.0-28 by default to get him up and running again.

Sometimes it's hard to be a Linux fan. Telling him "oh yeah, just wait
until 20.04" is unacceptable quality for Ubuntu.

[Bug 1872371] [NEW] [FFe] KDE PIM 19.12.3 into Focal archive

2020-04-12 Thread Rik Mills
Public bug reported:

This bug report is a Feature Freeze Exception for the KDE PIM suite from
KDE Applications 19.12.3 (updated from 19.04.3).

The releases since KDE Applications 19.04.3 are the following:

https://kde.org/announcements/fulllog_applications-
aether.php?version=19.08.0

https://kde.org/announcements/changelog-releases.php?version=19.12.0

with intermediate bugfix updates to both.

We currently have this ready to land in

https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-
service/+archive/ubuntu/3993/+packages

This update is a move to the mature and final bugfix update for the KDE
Applications suite version 19.12 1st released in December. The stable
19.12 branch has been tracked by our CI builds in our stable CI PPA
since the beta was branched.

While there do not appear from testing to be any serious regression in
the suite, should any be discovered (PIM is a big beast) we will commit
to fixing or mitigating any that may occur as best we can before before
release, or as a post release SRU.

The PIM stack is no longer seeded by default in our ISO.

The following packages comprise the PIM stack which require updating to
19.12.3

Ack from me to land under FFe delegation.

(probably after Qt 5.12.8 has migrated)
