[Bug 1885283] Re: [MIR] nacl

2020-06-28 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Hmm,
no it was src:python-libnacl (bug 1817327) -> src:libsodium (bug 1621386).
Sounds rather similar chemically, but not the same src package :-)

Never the less I think the review stops at step I - "check for
duplicates" :-/

It really is the same thing:
src:nacl
15 Description: NaCl and CurveCP tools

 16 NaCl (pronounced "salt") is a new easy-to-use high-speed

17 software library for network communication, encryption,

18 decryption, signatures, etc. NaCl's goal is to provide

19 all of the core operations needed to build higher-level

20 cryptographic tools. Tools include basic programs to

 21 deploy CurveCP message-handling.

src:libsodium
16 Description: Network communication, cryptography and signaturing library

17 NaCl (pronounced "salt") is a new easy-to-use high-speed software library
for
18 network communication, encryption, decryption, signatures, etc.

 19 .

20 NaCl's goal is to provide all of the core operations needed to build

 21 higher-level cryptographic tools.

 22 .

23 Sodium is a portable, cross-compilable, installable, packageable fork of
NaCl,
 24 with a compatible API.

Versions speak for libsodium as well:
 nacl | 20110221-4.1 | trusty/universe | source
 nacl | 20110221-4.1 | xenial/universe | source
 nacl | 20110221-5 | bionic/universe | source
 nacl | 20110221-6.1 | disco/universe | source
 nacl | 20110221-6.1 | eoan/universe | source
 nacl | 20110221-6.1 | focal/universe | source
 nacl | 20110221-6.1 | groovy/universe | source
 libsodium | 1.0.8-5~ubuntu14.04.1 | trusty-updates | source
 libsodium | 1.0.8-5 | xenial/universe | source
 libsodium | 1.0.8-5 | xenial-updates | source
 libsodium | 1.0.16-2 | bionic | source
 libsodium | 1.0.17-1 | disco | source
 libsodium | 1.0.18-1 | eoan| source
 libsodium | 1.0.18-1 | focal | source
 libsodium | 1.0.18-1 | groovy | source

Proposed use case was:
- libssh (used for curve25519)

Per [1] that is in sodium as well.

I haven't found libssh having libsodium support yet, but it it really is
compatible it might be a small step - and then libsodium seems more
fresh and maintained.

@seb128 - would you take a look at experimenting with libsodium @ libssh
as that seems to be the better way out of this dependency for Ubuntu.

This probably isn't the same issue but your kernel log shows the CD-ROM
drive is experiencing problems. Please eject the disc (if any)...

As for the main error you are trying to report in this bug, please
attach a photo or video of the problem.

Also in case it was a crash please follow these steps:

[Bug 1874075] Re: rabbitmq-server startup timeouts differ between SysV and systemd

2020-06-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Okay, I made test packages for Bionic and Xenial based on the above:

The ppa is available here:
https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/lp1874075-test

It contains (based off of -updates):
Xenial:
rabbitmq-server 3.5.7-1ubuntu0.16.04.2+lp1874075v20200629b1
Bionic:
rabbitmq-server 3.6.10-1ubuntu0.1+lp1874075v20200629b1

Debdiffs for the above builds are:
Xenial: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/Jm8ZctJzny/
Bionic: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/j6cBPzgWMD/

On Bionic:
When you install the test packages on both nodes and reboot them, then attempt
to reproduce, the node which is attempting to rejoin the cluster will stay in
the systemd activating state, and the wrapper script terminates after 5 minutes
or 300 seconds, i.e. 10x 3000ms timeouts. When the wrapper script terminates,
it terminates with a error exit code, and systemd restarts the service. This
continues forever until the node joins the cluster, at which stage the systemd
status turns active. Problem is fixed.

On Xenial:
When you install the test packages on both nodes and reboot them, then attempt
to reproduce, the node which is attempting to rejoin the cluster will stay in
the systemd activating state, and the wrapper script terminates after 60
seconds. This is much shorter than Bionic. When the wrapper script terminates,
it terminates with a error exit code, and systemd restarts the service. This
continues forever until the node joins the cluster, at which stage the systemd
status turns active. Problem is fixed.

It seems the timeouts happen at the mercy of
mnesia_table_loading_retry_limit and mnesia_table_loading_retry_timeout
values, ignoring the -t 600 that we pass into 'rabbitmqctl wait'.
Nicolas, it seems you are right, and that if we didn't want our services
to restart every 60 (xenial) or 300 (bionic) seconds, we would need to
adjust these timeouts. The problem is, we would have to introduce new
configuration files to do this, which is normally frowned on when doing
a SRU.

Now that we have Restart=on-failure and RestartSec=10 would I add config
to change mnesia_table_loading_retry_timeout? To be honest I am happy
with leaving them as is, and just relying on Restart=on-failure to do
its job. @ddstreet do you have any strong opinions? Is a service
restarting every 60 seconds unacceptable until the node can rejoin the
cluster?

Nicolas, can you install and test these packages and double check that
you also see what I see. If everything is good, you can submit new
debdiffs for Xenial and Bionic based on my ones, and we can get some new
builds into -proposed.

Nicolas, I think you are more or less right all along, and all you were
missing is Restart=on-failure and RestartSec=10 in the service file.

[Bug 1782703] Re: Unable to download updates from "extensions.gnome.org"

2020-06-28 Thread rtimai
I began having the identical symptoms described several weeks ago.
Multiple connectivity error message windows at the *initial* startup of
GNOME-software. This occurs on waking from suspend, and not from restart
or shutdown-start. GNOME-software is attempting to update its listings
in the background before networking is restored upon awake-after-
suspend. Trivial, but an annoyance nontheless, because this was not
happening before (that I remember, anyway.)

Is there a way to time-out these error windows, to make them behave like
Notifications?

Please:

1. Run this command:

2. Open a Terminal window and run 'top'. Now reproduce the problem
again. While the problem is happening does 'top' report any process
using very high CPU?

[Bug 1872383] Re: blk_update_request error when mount nvme partition

2020-06-28 Thread Tiffany
Feedback from vendor SK Hynix:
Currently, Host send the Write Zeros CMD with NLB 0x100(0~257). But PC400 can
support Max 0xFF (0~256)
Now we suggest that Canonical try to test with 0xFF instead of 0x100.

[Bug 1874075] Re: rabbitmq-server startup timeouts differ between SysV and systemd

2020-06-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
I agree that the fixes in -proposed for Focal and Groovy are good as is,
since it works nicely with type=notify on those systems.

I spent some time testing on Bionic. I can confirm that the existence of
ExecStartPost is for the very reason that Nicolas describes, that
RabbitMQ will return 0 regardless if the server started correctly or
not.

When I removed ExecStartPost, and set

TimeoutStartSec=600
Restart=on-failure
RestartSec=10

and reproduced, once RabbitMQ did 10x 3ms timeouts, it exited 0, and
systemd assumed it was a clean and expected stop, and the service was
stopped with ExitSuccess. The result being the service dies after 5
minutes. Its an improvement over 90 seconds, but not quite 10 min gold
standard.

I then added ExecStartPost back in, and added the modification to the
wrapper script that Nicolas put forward, aka /usr/lib/rabbitmq/bin
/rabbitmq-server-wait:

/usr/lib/rabbitmq/bin/rabbitmqctl wait -t 600 $RABBITMQ_PID_FILE

I then went and reproduced. systemd now doesn't treat the service as
started until it actually joins the cluster, instead it is in the
activating state while it is waiting for the cluster leader to turn up.

I left the VM in this activating state for quite some time. Each time
the 10x 3000ms timeouts finish, the wrapper script exits with failure,
and systemd restarts the service, and we go back to another 10x 3000ms
cycle. From my testing it never stops after 2 rounds, instead, it goes
forever, likely due to Restart=on-failure and RestartSec=10 being set.

This works wonderfully, and fixes the problem. I'm sorry I ever doubted
your solution Nicolas.

While I do think the better solution is to set type=notify, on Bionic it
would require the socat dependency to actually send the notification to
systemd, and as Dan mentioned before, that is unacceptable for a SRU,
and the apt upgrade reasoning makes sense. We can enjoy perfect systemd
controlled resilience on focal onwards.

On Bionic, I think staying with type=simple is fine, and we just need to
set

TimeoutStartSec=600
Restart=on-failure
RestartSec=10

and make the below change to /usr/lib/rabbitmq/bin/rabbitmq-server-wait

/usr/lib/rabbitmq/bin/rabbitmqctl wait -t 600 $RABBITMQ_PID_FILE

I don't think we need to change the default
mnesia_table_loading_retry_limit or mnesia_table_loading_retry_timeout
values, since if we set the systemd Restart=on-failure setting, once the
wrapper script dies at the 5 minute timeout, the service will just be
restarted and we begin anew.

I'll make a test package now, and see how it goes.

[Bug 1882410] Re: GNOME Shell crashed with signal 5

which is a tiny improvement.

The fact that GInotifyFileMonitor is mentioned makes me suspect the
problem is the Desktop Icons extension. Please try disabling 'Desktop

Looking at the most recent log in comment #6 again, that was back when
you had fwupd and boltd running. I wonder if you could provide a system
log from a night where those were disabled?

  journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

I'm still particularly skeptical of fwupd because it appears that cause
a redetection of your Dell monitor at Jun 12 06:17:31, which probably
also turned the monitor on.

Hi, could you run btmon to dump bluetooth traffic data while trying to
pair with other devices?

  1. Run `sudo btmon -w btsnoop.log` in a terminal,

  2. Open GNOME Settings to scan devices and try to pair one of them,

  3. When failed, terminate btmon by Ctrl+C and attach that log file

[Bug 1885463] [NEW] display and input freeze

2020-06-28 Thread Sarah Easton
Public bug reported:

Newly installed Ubuntu on a Lenovo laptop - less than 24 hours old. Just
now, I revived laptop from sleep or hibernate and the display was frozen
and corrupted. The bottom 1/3 of display was a patchwork of small
squares of junk in green, pink, blue; top 2/3 of screen was a slightly
distorted version of the default orange/purple background and the clock.
I couldn't interact with the computer with mouse or keyboard - no mouse
pointer, no control-alt-delete, no control-backspace. I found alt-PrtSc-
reisub on google and was able to reboot from the keyboard. I'm running
18.04.4 LTS, on 2017ish Lenovo E450 with AMD Carrizo graphics card

[Bug 1885462] Re: snd_hda_intel 0000:00:0e.0: No response from codec, resetting bus:

2020-06-28 Thread Leimar
There are also some messages like "snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:
Unable to sync register 0x2b8000. -11".

** Description changed:

If I connect headphones after the system boot or if I boot the system
with headphone connected and after boot disconnect the headphone without
reproducing any sound before, the system starts flooding dmesg with
messages like "snd_hda_intel :00:0e.0: No response from codec,
- resetting bus: last cmd=0x01470500". If I boot the system and reproduce
- any sound before disconnecting headphone, everything works normally.
+ resetting bus: last cmd=0x01470500" and becomes very slow. If I boot the
+ system and reproduce any sound before disconnecting headphone,
+ everything works normally.

[Bug 1885461] [NEW] HTIX5288:00 0911:5288 Touchpad: kernel bug: received BTN_RIGHT button event on a clickpad

2020-06-28 Thread Leimar
Public bug reported:

After some time using the computer, the context menu suddenly opens and
then the touchpad left button starts acting like the right button (left
button starts opening the context menu instead of clicking). Looking at
Xorg.0.log, I can see some "kernel bug" messages related to the
touchpad. On dmesg, there is some error messages related to the touchpad
too.

[Bug 1885459] [NEW] Nautilus does not ask for ssh login credentials

2020-06-28 Thread Elias Aarnio
Public bug reported:

When trying to connect a server using ssh:// or sftp:// no user/password
information is asked and I get error saying "Access Denied".

Expected behaviour: user/password would be asked.

I tested also with 20.04 live USB - same behaviour.

Same erroneus action also when trying to use Déja-Dup over SSH: no login
information is asked -> Access Denied -message.

SSH connection to the same server using CLI works OK on both installed
system and Live session.

[Bug 1885010] Re: NULL deference in nfs4_get_valid_delegation

2020-06-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Hi Elvis, excellent to hear your long production job finishes
successfully on your test kernel and on 5.4.0-40 from -proposed.

Looking at the schedule, 5.4.0-40 should be released to -updates in the
next day or two, and it will be exactly the same package that was in
-proposed. I'll mark this bug as fixed released when the kernel is
released.

[Bug 1885159] Re: Firefox 78.0 RC hangs at startup on Ubuntu 16.04

2020-06-28 Thread Olivier Tilloy
The builds for 78.0 beta 9 in the firefox-next PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/ubuntu/firefox-
next/+build/19478520) start correctly, all subsequent builds (starting
with 78.0+build1) exhibit the hang at startup.

[Bug 1707695] Re: radeon 0000:03:00.0: ring 0 stalled for more than 10000msec

2020-06-28 Thread urnenfeld
I have the same effects as the description with the following graphics
card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
[AMD/ATI] RV630 PRO [Radeon HD 2600 PRO AGP]

- IRCC Ubuntu 16 would not spot any problems.
- Lubuntu 18.04 kernel 4.15.0-88-generic would spot the problem very seldom, at
undetermined situations. You can live with the problem...
- Lubuntu 20.04 kernel 5.4.0-39-generic the problem is reproducible
deterministacally with certain actions. Opening specific websites, or simply
open a video with VLC (you cannot live with the problem)

[Bug 1851311] Re: loopback command hangs in 2.04 under UEFI

2020-06-28 Thread IRHiggs
I also confirm this bug. I used rufus in windows to create my bootable
USB with ubuntu live server 20.04.

I also confirm the work around to "rmmod tpm" and I'm off and running.

Thank you all for making this easy to follow!

[Bug 1789059] Re: continual GUI freeze

2020-06-28 Thread Uwe Klotz
tcmalloc could even be faster than the system allocator. But as already
mentioned this is not used in any of the official builds.

Please first do a local build with the original Arch settings and try to
reproduce the deadlock with a full stacktrace. Then rebuild without
these options.

[Bug 1885456] [NEW] Ubiquity doesn't allow leaving free space available when encrypting the disk

2020-06-28 Thread Raul
Public bug reported:

It only allows full encrypt disk and this also makes way to difficult to
have a dual boot with Windows.

Fedora's Anaconda installer allows you to leave some space if you want
to create a backup partition and possibly a dual boot with Windows
easily, but I haven't tested this yet.

[Bug 1789059] Re: continual GUI freeze

2020-06-28 Thread Uwe Klotz
https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/blob/dc1b9a1e64ac48e9b926e2afd452a6651a20081d/build/features.py#L495

I have never used it myself and am unsure about the consequences or
side-effects. In the best case it results in a minor performance
regression.

Using a local build with debug infos would hopefully provide helpful
information about what function in Mixxx actually triggers the deadlock.
