[Bug 1892559] [NEW] [MIR] ccid libpam-pkcs1 libpcsc-perl opensc pcsc-tools
Public bug reported: ==> ccid <== [Availability] ccid is in universe, and builds on all architectures. [Rationale] The desktop team and security team are interested in bringing smartcard authentication to enterprise desktop environments. [Security] No CVEs for ccid are listed in our database. Doesn't appear to bind to a socket. No privileged executables, but does have udev rules. Probably needs a security review. [Quality assurance] No test suite. Does require odd hardware that we'll probably need to buy. I don't see debconf questions. ccid is well maintained in Debian by upstream author. One open wishlist bug in BTS, harmless. One open bug in launchpad, not security, but looks very frustrating for the users. The upstream author was engaged but it never reached resolution. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ccid/+bug/1175465 Has a debian/watch file. Quilt packaging. P: ccid source: no-dep5-copyright P: ccid source: package-uses-experimental-debhelper-compat-version 13 [Dependencies] Minimal dependencies, in main [Standards compliance] Appears to satisfy FHS and Debian policy [Maintenance] The desktop team will subscribe to bugs, however it is expected that the security team will assist with security-relevant questions. [Quality assurance] The package does not call pam-auth-update in its postinst #1650366 Does not ask questions during install. One Ubuntu bug claims very poor behaviour if a card isn't plugged in. No Debian bugs. Occasional updates in Debian by long-term maintainer. Does require odd hardware that we'll probably need to buy. Does not appear to run tests during build. Has scary warnings in the build logs. Has a debian/watch file. Ancient standards version; other smaller lintian messages, mostly documentation problems. Quilt packaging. [Bug 1887943] Re: [SRU] TLS is not enabled for memcached>=1.5.13
The update-maintainer is fine, that is just saying it was already updated so no extra change needed. You can ignore it. As to the info: fuzz message, if that's just a warning and debuild is successfully producing a *source.changes, that's fine, you can go ahead and put it into the PPA via: dput ppa: *source.changes If it isn't producing a *source.changes file, not sure what's happening... copy in a larger snippet of the build log and we'll go from there. Btw, I'll be out of town next week on PTO. ippusbxd has known problems and it will get replaced by ipp-usb where these problems are solved. See the MIR for ipp-usb, bug 1891157. With this replacement driverless printing will work correctly and so most modern HP printers will work without HPLIP at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878974 Title: Unable to use HP USB Printer in Ubuntu 20.04 - apear to be hplip issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1878974/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1891157] Re: [MIR] ipp-usb
The replacement of ippusbxd by ipp-usb is also important as ippusbxd sometimes causes problems which makes people end up not being able to print and scan at all. See bug 1878974 An HP printer which works with HPLIP triggers the launch of ippusbxd, because the printer also supports IPP-over-USB and driverless printing and scanning, but due to the bugs (or architectural shortcomings) of ippusbxd the communication between the printer and CUPS/SANE does not work correctly, making printing and scanning fail. On the development of ipp-usb these shortcomings were identified and fixed and according to user reports ipp-usb is reliable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1891157 Title: [MIR] ipp-usb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-github-openprinting-goipp/+bug/1891157/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1877798] Re: The "areas" click-method doesn't work with "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" on "Clevo N141ZU" laptop
I have the same problem with touchpad in laptop "Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14 with Ryzen 4700u". My Ubuntu 20.04 setting is "Tweaks => Keyboard & Mouse => Mouse Click Emulation => Area". With this setting: Three finger tap works as a middle click and two finger tap works as a right click which is actually incorrect behavior. I would like to use upper right corner for middle click. I tried to install "xserver-xorg-input-synaptics", but it doesn't fix it. The upper right corner tap worked well with my previous laptop HP Envy 13" Skylake, with installed package "xserver-xorg-input-synaptics", in Ubuntu 20.04. So the issue is HW dependent. ** Attachment added: "/proc/bus/input/devices" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-libinput/+bug/1877798/+attachment/5403559/+files/input_devices.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877798 Title: The "areas" click-method doesn't work with "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" on "Clevo N141ZU" laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-libinput/+bug/1877798/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1851518] Re: [950SBE/951SBE, Realtek ALC298, Speaker, Internal] No sound on internal speakers, very very quiet on headphones
@gannon1 I follow the concept. I tried first using vmware workstation, mostly just cause I already had it installed for another purpose, but unfortunately no luck there. Vmware abstracts the underlying hardware and windows doesn't even see it as a realtek audio device. I also shared the problem of not being able to get samsung update installed, but I used your driver download you posted and it did install, but sadly I can't get speaker sound even with the driver in wmware... So, I will see if I can find some time this weekend to get qemu going. One thought on your other thread... if you suspend or reboot the entire VM then you will see tons of traffic as it communicates with every hardware device. Perhaps instead you could just go into device manager and then disable and re-enable the audio device specifically while tracing. Seems like it would greatly reduce the search data, assuming it actually issues the needed command during a disable... just a thought... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851518 Title: [950SBE/951SBE, Realtek ALC298, Speaker, Internal] No sound on internal speakers, very very quiet on headphones To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1851518/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1892548] [NEW] Rapidly increasing memory usage of kwin_x11 while watching videos
Public bug reported: A few days ago, I upgraded from Ubuntu 19 to Ubuntu 20. Ever since then, whenever I watch a video (Youtube and Netflix in both Firefox and Chrome, people streaming their webcams in GoToMeeting in Chrome, etc), the resident memory usage of kwin_x11 climbs up at a rate of about 100MB per 5-10 seconds to the point where it takes all the ram and swap (see screenshot attached, though it goes even higher). When it has filled my ram and swap, it just stops increasing. Then, if I open a new window of whatever app (or perform some other action on the desktop), I will get a lag and memory usage will drop down to almost nothing. Letting the video play will result in memory usage increasing in the same fashion again and again. I'm not sure if it's related, but I'm also seeing some segfaults in dmesg, but I was unable to correlate the timing of the segfault with high memory usage so far: [ 1663.034397] SGI_video_sync[9193]: segfault at e6 ip 5639903c9bfd sp 7f9988a627c0 error 6 in bitwarden[56398cfb8000+5322000] [ 1663.034406] Code: 0f 46 d8 89 df e8 43 00 00 00 4c 89 f7 e8 db 01 00 00 41 8b 46 10 41 8b 4e 18 0f b6 c0 c1 e0 0c 0f b6 c9 c1 e1 14 09 c1 09 d9 01 00 81 e3 ff 0f 00 00 c6 03 00 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 bd b3 f0 01 [ 1663.692678] SGI_video_sync[9212]: segfault at e6 ip 557c749aebfd sp 7fd08c8157c0 error 6 in bitwarden[557c7159d000+5322000] [ 1663.692686] Code: 0f 46 d8 89 df e8 43 00 00 00 4c 89 f7 e8 db 01 00 00 41 8b 46 10 41 8b 4e 18 0f b6 c0 c1 e0 0c 0f b6 c9 c1 e1 14 09 c1 09 d9 01 00 81 e3 ff 0f 00 00 c6 03 00 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 bd b3 f0 01 [ 1664.212728] SGI_video_sync[9223]: segfault at e6 ip 55c73953cbfd sp 7f62d88a47c0 error 6 in bitwarden[55c73612b000+5322000] [ 1664.212737] Code: 0f 46 d8 89 df e8 43 00 00 00 4c 89 f7 e8 db 01 00 00 41 8b 46 10 41 8b 4e 18 0f b6 c0 c1 e0 0c 0f b6 c9 c1 e1 14 09 c1 09 d9 01 00 81 e3 ff 0f 00 00 c6 03 00 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 bd b3 f0 01 xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu14 nvidia 440.100-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 kwin-x11 4:5.18.5-0ubuntu0.1 Don't hesitate if you need more info. [Bug 1890903] Re: systemd-resolved.service still breaks (now 20.04, since as least 16)
I think I'll steer away from systemd-resolved 1) it does not favor my primary nameserver (after a switch it'll not switch back, but continue any failover server) 2) in the end it can even use a nameserver which I have not provided (which is set by the packagebuilder) Reading into some threads on systemd-resolved it is clear all nameservers are expected equal. This is clearly not the case with small business (or any business, if you ask me). The uncontrolled usage of the external nameserver set by the packagebuilder is also a weird choice. These choices might be OK in certain situations (e.g. a laptop to access the web for the wife), but clearly fails my needs. To change to something else, seel (e.g.): https://askubuntu.com/questions/907246/how-to-disable-systemd-resolved-in-ubuntu (probably this is the cause of some nameserver issue I reported on docker, where docker clients ended up using 8.8.8.8) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890903 Title: systemd-resolved.service still breaks (now 20.04, since as least 16) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1890903/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1892529] Re: `catkin` doesn't recognize `lint` verb
This patch reverses the dependencies, so `catkin-lint` pulls in `python3 -catkin-lint`. The Python libs are in the `python3-catkin-lint` package now. This fixes the problem for me, but I'm just a dabbler in Debian packaging, so I don't know the greater ramifications of esp. the dependency reversal. ** Patch added: "0001-Reorganize-packages-to-install-Python-under-usr-lib-.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ros-catkin-lint/+bug/1892529/+attachment/5403530/+files/0001-Reorganize-packages-to-install-Python-under-usr-lib-.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892529 Title: `catkin` doesn't recognize `lint` verb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ros-catkin-lint/+bug/1892529/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1892529] [NEW] `catkin` doesn't recognize `lint` verb
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Focal with these package versions installed: python3-catkin-tools0.5.0-1 python3-catkin-lint 1.6.6-1 The `catkin lint` command fails: $ catkin lint usage: catkin [-h] [-a] [--test-colors] [--version] [--force-color | --no-color] [build | clean | config | create | env | init | list | locate | profile] ... Error: Unknown verb 'lint' provided. The problem is that the `catkin-lint` package installs its Python package into the `/usr/share/catkin-lint/catkin_lint` directory, which is of course a non-standard location, outside of `sys.path`. Because of this, `pkg_resources` can't find the `/usr/share/catkin- lint/catkin_lint-1.6.6.egg-info/entry_points.txt` file, and `catkin` doesn't know about the `lint` verb. The `catkin lint` command works fine when installed via `pip install catkin-lint`, which puts the Python package in the expected location. Digging deeper, I see the `python3-catkin-lint` package is just a stub package that depends on `catkin-lint`, and customizes the `pybuild` configuration. I don't know how to fix that, exactly. ** Affects: ros-catkin-lint (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892529 Title: `catkin` doesn't recognize `lint` verb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ros-catkin-lint/+bug/1892529/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
