[Bug 1895781] [NEW] ~/.gnomerc is not loaded anymore at startup

2020-09-15 Thread Kentaro
Public bug reported:

I have clean-installed Focal and configured to run X.org server instead
of Wayland, and found that the ~/.gnomerc is not loaded anymore.

In /etc/X11/Xsession.d/55gnome-session_gnomerc, it tries to load
~/.gnomerc but it fails because of the change of the gnome-session's
startup process.

Let's see this part of the 55gnome-session_gnomerc:

BASESTARTUP=${STARTUP%% *}
BASESTARTUP=${BASESTARTUP##*/}
if [ "$BASESTARTUP" = x-session-manager ]; then
BASESTARTUP=$(basename $(readlink /etc/alternatives/x-session-manager))
fi
case "$BASESTARTUP" in
  gnome-session*)
GNOMERC=$HOME/.gnomerc
if [ -r "$GNOMERC" ]; then
  . "$GNOMERC"
fi

In Bionic, at the time of launching 55gnome-session_gnomerc, the value of
$STARTUP is "gnome-session" and it works properly. In Focal, however, the value
of $STARTUP is
"env GNOME_SHELL_SESSION_MODE=ubuntu /usr/bin/gnome-session --systemd
--session=ubuntu",
and $BASESTARTUP became "env", then it skips loading ~/.gnomerc.

[Bug 1895762] Re: PH-B-500 Headphone makes bluetooh loop

2020-09-15 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1895762/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1883174] Re: Some desktop icons disappear

2020-09-15 Thread Anton Kranjec
I can confirm the problem. Upgrade was from 18.04 to 20.04 and 4th
monitor added to new grophic card. Icons disappearing is happening
daily. Not all icons disappear. Suspend and wake up retruns icons to its
original place. Usually it happens when I save a Libre Writer document
and close the Writer. Let me know if I can help further and how.

Your issue is a regression of a more recent change and therefore not actionable

p.s. it's normally only necessary to report your issue once, rather than in

This actually used to work for quite a while. I was able to see a

Unfortunately it is unclear, partly because it keeps getting broken over
the years. The currently blocking bugs are all fixed. But toolkit bug
177175 is not closed.

Let's close comments so newer version users don't accidentally post

  feature set and that upgrades to the kernel version (say to 5.8) that may
  include newer AppArmor confinement features will not result in additional
  policy denials as a result (since say the existing profile did not specify

  kernel). This ensures that there will be no regressions in application

  TESTING

  This has been extensively tested by the security team - this includes

  extensive QA Regression Tests for AppArmor as well. This ensures that the
  various applications that make heavy use of AppArmor (LXD, docker, lxc,
  dbus, libvirt, snapd etc) have all been exercised and no regressions have
  been observed. All tests have passed and demonstrated both apparmor and the
  various applications that use it to be working as expected.

[Bug 1895765] [NEW] conversion to m4a fails

2020-09-15 Thread Forest
Public bug reported:

Conversion to .m4a silently fails 100% of the time.

Running the convert-2m4a.sh script manually reveals this error message
in conversion.log:

output file exists, use --overwrite option

Apparently gtkpod's conversion script is running faac on an already-
existing output file, which causes faac to fail since version 1.29.5,
when the --overwrite option was introduced.

Adding --overwrite to ENCODER_OPTS fixes the problem. (This might break
compatibility with faac versions more than three years old.) Patch
attached.

** Affects: gtkpod (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Patch added: "0002-faac_overwrite.patch"

[Bug 1895762] [NEW] PH-B-500 Headphone makes bluetooh loop

2020-09-15 Thread jeapf
Public bug reported:

Hi there, I am using Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS(Brazilian Portuguese, so, sorry
if I translated wrong some label) in a Dell Inspiron 15 series 3000 and
I am having some Bluetooth problems.

I always suffer to synchronize my Cadenza PH-B Bluetooth Headphone.
It Shows as PH-B-500 at the bluetooth devices list
What happens is:
1. I turn on the headphone
2. I go to Settings → Bluetooth
3. The Notebook entire bluetooth enters a shutdown reinitialize loop
4. It only stops when I turn off the headphone

But if I:
1. Keep the headphone off
2. go to Settings → Bluetooth
3. Click on the PH-B-500 on the list
4. Turn the headphone on and at the same time click on Conection at the
PH-B-500 Bluetooth window
it usually starts working fine.
The headphone works perfectly on my Android cell phone so I don’t believe it is
broken.

[Bug 1895526] Re: ocfs2 file system no longer write - "disk full" despite lots of free space

2020-09-15 Thread ArTaX
Similar problem here, maybe related.

TL,DR:
kernel 5.4.0-47 doesn't work
kernel 5.4.0-42 works

LONG STORY:
We installed a fresh ubuntu server 20.04, downloading updates during
installation (kernel 5.4.0-47).
We setup an ocfs2 cluster, tried to create a simple file on the new volume
(with touch), but we obtained the error "no free space on the device".
dmesg shows the following error:
"ocfs2_reserve_suballoc_bits:780 ERROR: status = -22"

After 2 days of debug of our cluster setup, we tried to install a new ubuntu
server 20.04, but this time we didn't install the updates (kernel 5.4.0-42)(it
was just to speed up the installation).
Same ocfs2 setup, now it works. So we discovered the kernel difference.

During our debug we obtained several errors and we made some considerations.
For example, if we format the volume from the machine with kernel 5.4.0-42, the
machine with kernel 5.4.0-47 works, but dmesg shows the same error:
"ocfs2_reserve_suballoc_bits:780 ERROR: status = -22".

If you need additional info/debug, please let me know.

[Bug 1891657] Re: systemd 100% cpu usage apport-autoreport.service: Failed with result 'start-limit-hit'

2020-09-15 Thread Brian Murray
I actually think this is either a bug with systemd or a change in how it
handles the services which apport-autoreport includes. I've tested this
by changing /usr/lib/systemd/system/apport-autoreport.service so that it
contains the following:

ExecStart=/usr/bin/aplay /usr/share/sounds/sound-icons/canary-long.wav

Then if I touch a .crash file in /var/crash e.g. touch
'/var/crash/canary.crash I ended up hearing the canary sound 5 times
then a pause and then the canary sound multiple times again. On Ubuntu
20.04 the same test case results in the canary sound being heard only
one time.

[Bug 1892526] Re: dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc no longer prompts for grub-pc/install_devices

2020-09-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package grub2 - 2.04-1ubuntu26.4

---
grub2 (2.04-1ubuntu26.4) focal; urgency=medium

  * grub-install: cherry-pick patch from grub-devel to make grub-install
fault tolerant. Create backup of files in /boot/grub, and restore them
on failure to complete grub-install. LP: #1891680
  * postinst.in: do not exit successfully when failing to show critical
grub-pc/install_devices_failed and grub-pc/install_devices_empty
prompts in non-interactive mode. This enables surfacing upgrade errors
to the users and/or automation. LP: #1891680
  * postinst.in: do not attempt to call grub-install upon fresh install of
grub-pc because it it a job of installers to do that after fresh
install. Fixup for the issue unmasked by above. LP: #1891680
  * grub-multi-install: fix non-interactive failures for grub-efi like it
was fixed in postinst for grub-pc. LP: #1891680
  * postinst.in: Fixup postinst.in, to attempt grub-install upon explicit
dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc. LP: #1892526

[Bug 1894824] Re: compare grub efi during build

2020-09-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package grub2-signed - 1.142.6

---
grub2-signed (1.142.6) focal; urgency=medium

  * Rebuild against grub2 2.04-1ubuntu26.4.
  * Add check to compare that signed grub, matches monolithic builds, to
avoid signing skew when copying grub2/grub2-signed to PPAs. LP:
