[Bug 1898411] Re: Crash when adding "south pole" time to world clock

2020-10-03 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1898411

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1808736] Re: Saving crash report failed

2020-10-03 Thread Robert Pearson
Here's a novel idea:

Why not actually try to fix the bugs rather than just classifying them
as "Expired".

Or why not be honest and just flag all new bugs as "Expired" so we users
won't waste our time posting bug reports.

[Bug 1891515] Re: ucf overwrites diverted configuration file breaking unattended upgrades - upstream fix available

2020-10-03 Thread Mathew Hodson
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ucf/3.0040
---

ucf (3.0040) unstable; urgency=medium

  * This is a feature add release, for the most part
  * Bug fix: "Add support for creating files with default SELinux
context", thanks to Christian Göttsche (Closes: #949314).
  * Bug fix: "please consider merge request #1 adding
ucf_helper_functions", thanks to Marc Haber (Closes: #930130).
  * Bug fix: "ucf has /bin/bash shebangs but does not depend on bash",
thanks to James Le Cuirot (Closes: #952448). It actually does not need
bash, so this was easy to do.
  * Bug fix: "should respect dpkg-divert", thanks to Timothy G Abbott
(Closes: #43).
  * Bug fix: "[INTL:nl] Dutch translation of debconf messages", thanks to
Frans Spiesschaert (Closes: #926661).

[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14

2020-10-03 Thread hvico
Hello,

I tried to apply the I2C probe from Pilot6 link above
(https://github.com/bentiss/SimplePeripheralBusProbe).

Unfortunatelly I couldn't make it work. I was able to overload my DSDT
table and compile it (using Intel iasl.exe as Microsoft's asl.exe
generated a file which produced lots of errors at compile time). And
then I even got the I2C Probe device in my Device Manager (installed the
binary inf/sys driver that you can download from the releases page, no
compilation needed). But I couldn't manage to modify the DSDT table file
for this particular device, in order to bypass the ELAN touchpad/numpad
through the I2C probe.

Maybe someone with some experience in this I2C stuff can help me to
modify that DSDT table file properly. This is the section I suppose
refers to the ELAN touchpad (the complete file has nearly 70.000 lines):

As you may see, the _CRS method is different and more complex that the
example provided in SimplePeripheralBusProbe main page, as it returns:
ConcatenateResTemplate (SBFB, SBFI). The I2cSerialBusV2 (not
I2cSerialBus) stuff is defined within the SBFB block. Tried to modify
that single block to bypass the trackpad this way:

First I defined the probe device in the same scope:

{
Device(SPB1)
{
Name(_HID, "PROBE01")
Name(_UID, 1)
Method(_CRS, 0x0, NotSerialized)

[Bug 1895131] Re: Groovy Desktop *BREAKS* the most common method of creating UEFI bootable drives for Ubuntu installation

2020-10-03 Thread Akeo
Any update on this?

As a reminder, ALL that is being asked from this bug is to duplicate the
files and directories currently found in /boot/grub/efi.img to the root
level of the ISO. That's it.

It's a very straightforward fix, and, with the beta now being out, the
need to fix this becomes slightly more urgent, lest you want to let all
the people who previously relied on the ability to simply extract the
ISO files onto a FAT32 partition to create a UEFI bootable media down.

2020-10-03 Thread Mathew Hodson
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FocalFossa/ReleaseNotes

"Systems with an nVidia graphics card: These systems boot the live
session by default with the open source video driver 'nouveau'. On some
hardware this driver may crash which results in a freeze of the
graphical session of the installer. If it happens, on the boot menu,
select a 'Safe graphics mode' entry. Then in the installer, on the
'Preparing to install ...' page, select 'Install third party software
...' and continue. This option will install the nVidia proprietary
drivers on the target system. Upon installation the proprietary drivers
for your card will be loaded and the graphical session should work
properly with optimized drivers."

[Bug 1898396] [NEW] engrampa archive manager cannot unzip .epub files

2020-10-03 Thread Robert Pearson
Public bug reported:

To quote "EPUB 3 Best Practices"

The specification for this is the Open Container Format (OCF) 3.0, and it is
literally a .zip file,
though it uses the .epub extension.

Apparently the coder decided checking the extension was easier than
actually looking in the file and recognizing that it is a zip file.

Workaround - Use command line unzip

[Bug 1898393] [NEW] Gnome Magnifier does track mouse cursor.

2020-10-03 Thread Lee Clark
Public bug reported:

The mouse tracking when using the Gnome shell magnifier doesn't work.
Text cursor and focus cursor tracking works fine.

To re-poroduce enable the magnification by pressing Super + Alt + 8.
Move the mouse around and observe the magnified view remaining in one
place. The magnified view should follow the mouse cursor.

Tested on both X and Wayland. Using a virtual machine and Dell XPS 9630.

I have this issue as well on a Lenovo T420s installing a freshly downloaded

cases?
I wanted to upload all logs but I can add only a single attachement to this

[Bug 1726548] Re: Windows resized after resume

2020-10-03 Thread Erik Steiner
I can confirm, that this bug still exists on Ubuntu 20.04. I recently
switched to Manjaro (currently 20.1.1) with the same behavior.

Set the monitor to power save after 5 minutes.
Desktop resolution is 3840x2160 with 200 % scaling.

If I come back after some time. I move the mouse and the logon screen
appears. I enter my password and I see File Manager (Files, Simple file
manager for GNOME) and Firefox are resized. For instance the File
Manager just shows the left half of the window, the other half is out of
the screen. You can not see the Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons. Firefox
looks strange as it is resized by some more factors. Want to contribute
as it is pretty reproducible.

[Bug 819748] Re: evolution html signature is not working

2020-10-03 Thread Erik Steiner
HTML-Signatures are inserted as plain text in Evolution Mail 3.36.5.

1. Go to Evolution Preferences -> Composer Preferences -> Signatures
2. Create a new signature and use HTML language like:
Greetings

Jack

It could be intended that the text is plain text there, however it is exactly
inserted in a new mail.

The same applies to adding a HTML signature as a script.

Unfortunately, your bug report does not include enough information for
us to act on it. It shows that the libpam0g package is in state 'half-
installed', but does not show why it got that way.

Please attach /var/log/apt/term.log from your system.

[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14

2020-10-03 Thread Badaoui Mohamed
It's a shame that Asus doesn't support Linux. They make great laptops that a
lot of developers use because of it.
If they continue not to support Linux, personally I will probably start to
see what its competitors offer like Huawei for example.
