[Bug 1889342] Re: Thunderbolt Dock Loses Monitors

2020-10-09 Thread rhpot1991
Took me a bit to reproduce again while logging:
1. Hit win+l to lock
2. Let monitors go to sleep (the longer the better, if I did this for a short
amount of time the system recovered)
3. Try to wake up with keyboard/mouse
4. Unlock screen is not prompted
5. Open laptop, find unlock screen there
6. Now laptop screen is working and one of the monitors. The other monitor is
inaccessible

Maybe that explains crashes with VLC since upgrade to 20.04, I recently
reported.
Shouldn't the system change it at some point? E.g. during the upgrade process?
Is that actually another bug report?

[Bug 1733292] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in point_on_screen from miPointerSetPosition from positionSprite from positionSprite from fill_pointer_events

2020-10-09 Thread DarkTrick
3 years later.
I support Wes's statement about the importance of the bug. This is a real
dealbreaker.

I cannot write any short notes, no unsaved emails, temporary documents,
draw temporary images, because I use my OS in constant fear it might
break down out of a sudden.

[Bug 1899232] [NEW] ansible fails with systemd 245.4

2020-10-09 Thread Lightstar
Public bug reported:

Ansible 2.10.2 fails when determining state of a service on systemd
245.4 in Ubuntu 20.04. It's related to this bug
[https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/16424]. This bug has been fixed
in systemd 245.7. Is there plans to release a fix with this? Without
this fix, ansible fails when attempting to manage services on Ubuntu
20.04.

Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 20.04
Package: 245.4-4ubuntu3.2 amd64

What I expected to happen
Service marked as started when it is stopped.

What happened instead
Got 'failed: [127.0.0.1] (item=ssh) => {"ansible_loop_var": "item", "changed":
false, "item": "ssh", "msg": "Service is in unknown state", "status": {}}'

Thank you.

Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed as the report has a core dump which is invalid. The
corruption may have happened on the system which the crash occurred or during
transit.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi Sebastien

Thanks for the notification. I'll send any more bugs if they occur, but so
far, pre-release Ubuntu 20.10 appears to be surprisingly stable.

[Bug 1899224] [NEW] Should ship libpipewire0.2 alongside pipewire 0.3 for chrome support?

2020-10-09 Thread Joe Barnett
Public bug reported:

Per https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PipeWire#WebRTC_screen_sharing,
it appears that chrome/chromium need pipewire 0.2 userspace libraries
installed for pipewire based screen sharing to work. (Verified that it
doesn't appear to work with manually compiled, pipewire enabled builds
of mutter/gnome-shell/xdg-desktop-portal and the chrome pipewire flag
enabled, while building firefox with the fedora pipewire patch* is able
to share screen on the same system).

[Bug 522152] Re: indicator-application does not send signals when a menu is shown/hidden

2020-10-09 Thread Andrew Zaborowski
I believe this bug is also causing nm-applet to not send scan requests
while the networks menu is open. I'm not sure how many people are still
using a GNOME desktop with nm-applet rather than gnome-shell, and which
is the current default on new installs -- aren't there still
environments without gnome-shell selectable from the login screen in the
default installation? If so that might still be affecting a large
portion of users.

None of the workarounds listed above is easily applicable to nm-applet.
At the same time it seems that on Fedora this isn't an issue. Is is
possible that Fedora uses libappindicator from a different repository,
or carries patches for this? Where even is the "upstream" for
libappindicator?

Yes, that is puzzling.

no guarantees we'll get a meaningful answer :)

Thinking it through, I am happy for us to make this change from MBR to
GPT.

- optical media don't care about the partition table, only the El-Torito
  boot image.
- BIOS boot of USB doesn't care about the partition table, only the MBR
- UEFI 2.0 requires systems to understand GPT
- pre-2.0 UEFI systems are mostly not guaranteed to work anyway.

I've made this switch now and confirmed the result at
.

I do see that the GPT has an extra partition at the end; is this required
for alignment? I haven't seen such partition entries when using MBR.

$ gdisk -l ~/devel/iso/groovy-desktop-amd64.iso
GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.5

Partition table scan:
  MBR: protective
  BSD: not present
  APM: not present
  GPT: present

Found valid GPT with protective MBR; using GPT.

[Bug 1893717] Re: Add Ubuntu Advantage service apt urls to valid mirrors

2020-10-09 Thread Chad Smith
** Description changed:

  === Begin SRU Template ===
  [Impact]
Customers with Ubuntu Advantage services enabled on Trusty/Xenial/Bionic find
APT config files disabled with comments after running `do-release-upgrade`.

  This requires either:
   1. manual intervention to uncomment and correct the apt suite for any
enabled Ubuntu Advantage service stored in
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-*.list.

   OR

   2. Providing AllowThirdParty=yes configuration override during do-
release-upgrade to force upgrades of all third party ppa apt
  configuration urls.

Adding these supported commercial URLs to mirror.cfg allows these urls to be
treated as valid Ubuntu-proper apt URLs and would automatically update the
apt config files for any enabled Ubuntu Advantage offering without
  manual intervention.

  [Test Case]

  # test procedure
for release in trusty xenial bionic; do
   1. lxc launch daily image for the given $release enabling
ubuntu-advantage-daily PPA (to allow for upgrading to viable
ubuntu-advantage-tools deb
   2. attach the machine to ua with a token and enable any available apt-based
  services
   3. Download the -proposed tarball to locally perform a
"do-release-upgrade"
   4. unzip that proposed tarball
- 5. Add ubuntu-advantage-daily PPA to mirrors.cfg # to avoid disabling on
upgrade
- 6. and run ./${upgraderelease} upgrade on the CLI
+  5. Add ubuntu-advantage-daily PPA to mirrors.cfg # to avoid disabling on
upgrade
+  6. and run ./${upgraderelease} upgrade on the CLI
   7. check contents of /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-*.list to ensure all
UA-related apt URLs are still available
   8. apt-cache policy to check that permissions to said APT repositories are
live

[Bug 1899064] Re: Decrease time_threshold for zone_purge task.

Reviewed: https://review.opendev.org/756910

https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/charm-designate/commit/?id=1aefb4c274f58bbd496d348d8accd2b668f61ae9
Submitter: Zuul
Branch:master

commit 1aefb4c274f58bbd496d348d8accd2b668f61ae9
Author: Jorge Niedbalski
Date: Thu Oct 8 15:06:21 2020 -0300

Make zone_purge time threshold configurable.

The default of one week for how old deleted zones
should be purged is too long. This patch makes
it 1 hour by default and adds a new config
option for it (zone-purge-time-threshold).
