[Bug 1880211] Re: Logwatch package points to wrong location for zfs utils
I'm running Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS 64bit and Logwatch 7.4.2. My root user has /sbin in the path and when I run zpool I don't have to prefix it with the path. Still to make this logwatch section work, I had previously edited my /usr/share/logwatch/scripts/services/zz-zfs on lines 54 and 55 to have the a different path "/sbin/zpool" and "/sbin/zfs" some time back. However recently logwatch stopped reporting the ZFS section. For some strange reason file zz-zfs lines 54 and 55 now say: my $pathto_zpool = $ENV{'pathto_zpool'} || 'zpool'; my $pathto_zfs = $ENV{'pathto_zfs'} || 'zfs'; And $pathto_zpool gets set to zpool. But the test on line 59 takes the "exit 0". This test for existence requires a path!!! So whoever changed this did this wrong! I AGAIN have changed these lines to: my $pathto_zpool = $ENV{'pathto_zpool'} || '/sbin/zpool'; my $pathto_zfs = $ENV{'pathto_zfs'} || '/sbin/zfs'; and all is working! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1880211 Title: Logwatch package points to wrong location for zfs utils To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/logwatch/+bug/1880211/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1900168] Re: touchpad motion stops responding sporadically in 20.10 mate beta
I had similar issue on my HP laptop with elantech trackpad, where trackpad would not be responsive immediately after login. The buttons would still work, external (USB) mouse would also work. In my case the fix was to remove synaptics driver and let libinput handle trackpad. sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics sudo apt install xserver-xorg-input-libinput I also created a symlink for 40-libinput.conf in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d although it may not be needed (not present in UM 20.04). sudo mkdir -p /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d sudo ln -s /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ A reboot was required for changes to take place properly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1900168 Title: touchpad motion stops responding sporadically in 20.10 mate beta To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1900168/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1900211] Re: venv creation fails: ensurepip error
** Description changed: Tested on focal with both the focal-proposed 3.9.0-1~20.04 amd64 and focal-updates 3.9.0~rc1-1~20.04 amd64 packages. Installed python3.9 (+deps) and python3.9-venv $ python3.9 -m venv venv The virtual environment was not created successfully because ensurepip is not available. On Debian/Ubuntu systems, you need to install the python3-venv package using the following command. - apt-get install python3-venv + apt-get install python3-venv You may need to use sudo with that command. After installing the python3-venv package, recreate your virtual environment. Failing command: ['/home/ziddey/test/venv/bin/python3.9', '-Im', 'ensurepip', '--upgrade', '--default-pip'] $ python3.9 -m ensurepip --version /usr/bin/python3.9: Error while finding module specification for 'ensurepip.__main__' (ImportError: cannot import name '_bundled' from partially initialized module 'ensurepip' (most likely due to a circular import) (/usr/lib/python3.9/ensurepip/__init__.py)) vs: $ python3.8 -m ensurepip --version pip 20.0.2 - - Adding --without-pip works to create the venv, but obviously without pip. + Adding --without-pip works to create the venv, but obviously without + pip. Comparing /usr/lib/python3.9/ensurepip/__init__.py with the official cpython, it looks like we don't bundle. Instead, we use common python wheels in /usr/share/python-wheels/. This means that python3.9 would end up sharing the same wheels as python3.8. By commenting out: from . import _bundled - everything seems to work fine. venv creates/activates, pip seemingly - works as expected, despite being an older version. Or at least, it works - well enough to create the venv with --upgrade-deps so that the venv will - then take on current versions instead. + everything works fine. venv creates/activates using the common wheels + made available from python 3.8 (unless the same old versions are also + being bundled with 3.9?) to create the venv with --upgrade-deps so that + it'll take on current versions instead. - Of course, this relies on having the wheels available via python3.8 and - having them be compatible, but it's a temporary fix. - + Of course, this relies on having the wheels available (didn't check if + 3.9 also includes these wheels or if they're pre-existing from 3.8) and + having them be compatible (they target py2.py3 so this should be fine). $ python3.9 -m venv --upgrade-deps venv Collecting pip - Downloading pip-20.2.3-py2.py3-none-any.whl (1.5 MB) - || 1.5 MB 2.8 MB/s + Downloading pip-20.2.3-py2.py3-none-any.whl (1.5 MB) + || 1.5 MB 2.8 MB/s Collecting setuptools - Downloading setuptools-50.3.1-py3-none-any.whl (785 kB) - || 785 kB 17.3 MB/s + Downloading setuptools-50.3.1-py3-none-any.whl (785 kB) + || 785 kB 17.3 MB/s Installing collected packages: pip, setuptools - Attempting uninstall: pip - Found existing installation: pip 20.0.2 - Uninstalling pip-20.0.2: - Successfully uninstalled pip-20.0.2 - Attempting uninstall: setuptools - Found existing installation: setuptools 44.0.0 - Uninstalling setuptools-44.0.0: - Successfully uninstalled setuptools-44.0.0 + Attempting uninstall: pip + Found existing installation: pip 20.0.2 + Uninstalling pip-20.0.2: + Successfully uninstalled pip-20.0.2 + Attempting uninstall: setuptools + Found existing installation: setuptools 44.0.0 + Uninstalling setuptools-44.0.0: + Successfully uninstalled setuptools-44.0.0 Successfully installed pip-20.2.3 setuptools-50.3.1 ziddey@laurie:~/test$ . venv/bin/activate (venv) ziddey@laurie:~/test$ pip list Package Version - --- pip 20.2.3 pkg-resources 0.0.0 setuptools50.3.1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1900211 Title: venv creation fails: ensurepip error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3.9/+bug/1900211/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1304128] Re: Both light-locker and xscreensaver enabled after upgrade
I have recently upgraded 2 systems from Xubuntu 18.04 to Xubuntu 20.04. I was using XScreenSaver on both of them. I was getting 2 "screensaver" icons in XFCE even after removing package 'light-locker', so I removed package 'xscreensaver' too. I started the installed and proceeded to the step where it reported that only 0.0B of required 8.6GB are available to install Ubuntu on. I used the "back" button to return to the first installation screen. I attached a (virtual) HDD to the SATA bus of this VM, with a total capacity of 10 GB. I opened a terminal (Ctrl-Alt-T) and ran fdisk - it did not show this disk, yet. I used apt to install the sg3-utils package, and ran the rescan-scsi-bus.sh script it provides (as root). I used fdisk to create a GPT partition table on this disk, and used parted to verify it had been created. (The installer later overwrote this with an MBR partition table.) I switched back to the active installer, and proceeded through the installation screens, reaching the same message as before, reporting that only 0B of required 8.6GB (?) are available to install Ubuntu on. [Bug 1900273] [NEW] GPA does not detect encrypted files versus public key import
Public bug reported: Receiving an *.ASC file, GPA tries to decrypt the file and crashes, if the file received is a encrypted and armored public key rather than a data file that has been encrypted and armored. The file is correctly processed via the menu IMPORT. While the import button command works, it cannot handle importing automatically, ie it needs human intervention. If IMPORT was allows on a commandline it could help determine what type of input file was being submitted. [Bug 1863255] Re: Programs installed in Snap format do not detect the keyboard
I'm on snap 2.47 and chromium does not respond to the keyboard. It is version: Version 86.0.4240.75 (Official Build) snap (64-bit) System info: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (64-bit) GNOME 3.36.3 with Wayland Why am I on Wayland...? Not sure! I thought I stuck with X... Maybe that's part of the problem. Let me know if there are any other specs that would help. In addition, I have noted many corrupt icons since switching to the snap package. For example, the close button in the upper right that should display as a simple X has some weird shaped whale looking icon attached to the left side of it. When I go to save a file, the system icons I have selected are not display, instead corrupted icons or no icons display. I'm not sure if this is related to the keyboard issue, but they both occurred after upgrading to snap. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863255 Title: Programs installed in Snap format do not detect the keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1863255/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1900265] [NEW] do-release-upgrade freezes
Public bug reported: I'm trying to upgrade from Bionic to Fossa; I've had several problems with do-release-upgrade that may all stem from the same issue. I run "sudo update-manager" at the command line. The system alerts me of a potential upgrade: "The software on this computer is up to date. However, Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS is now available (you have 18.04)." I click "Upgrade..." I pops up the release notes window, but never populates it; it stays empty, but otherwise correctly drawn, offering "Cancel" and "Upgrade". In the command-line window is: uranium@Hex:~$ sudo update-manager [sudo] password for uranium: Checking for a new Ubuntu release /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/DistUpgrade/DistUpgradeFetcher.py:23: PyGIWarning: Gtk was imported without specifying a version first. This is discouraged. If I accept the upgrade anyway, despite that, it pops up another window that appears to run do-release-upgrade and say it's downloading something, before vanishing and being replace by one with the title "Distribution Upgrade".
