[Bug 684982]

2020-12-10 Thread Me-x6
hi Kestrel, thank you for the reply.

still no luck with dynamic workspaces disabled (confirmed the setting
was correct also via "Tweaks" app, and set my static workspaces to a
larger number than what i'm actively using (using 4 out of available 6).

a few notes which may be relevant:

- i am using Gnome Shell on wayland as my window manager
- this is a laptop with an external monitor, the laptop lid is closed; monitor
is the primary/only display
- i am running Debian Bullseye with the firefox package installed from
unstable/sid.
- i am launching firefox with wayland support via `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1`
- laptop screen builtin scaling is different from monitor (2x vs. 1x
respectively)

here are my reproduction steps:

1) boot to GDM (wayland)
2) login to Gnome Shell (wayland)
3) open firefox 83.0
4) arrange windows on static workspaces (1-4 out of six total)
5) log out back to GDM
6) log in
7) ensure displays are configured as before
8) switch to workspace 1
9) launch firefox with `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1`

i have also tested replacing steps 5-7 with simply exiting firefox via
Ctrl+Q.

expected behavior: windows are restored to where they were prior to
logout

actual behavior: all windows are restored to workspace 1. sizes are
correct, but x/y positions and workspace are incorrect.

Please be aware (as noted above) that while I reported this bug under
linux-image-5.4.0-54 that's only because the latest version
linux-image-5.4.0-56 which exhibits the problem isn't stable enough to collect
information on the problematic wifi device.
lsusb says "Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:761a Ralink Technology, Corp. MT7610U
("Archer T2U" 2.4G+5G WLAN Adapter". It's marketed as TP-Link AC-600.

[Bug 1907761] Re: vanishing kernel 5.4.0-56-generic

2020-12-10 Thread Gord
I am SO angry about this idiotic state of affairs. We were all urged to
update as a matter of urgency following the discovery of several major
bugs, last week.

Now the fixed kernel has been completely withdrawn and we are left with
a choice of either vulnerable systems under the old kernels, or systems
that are inconsistent under the new and inexplicably withdrawn super-
duper-ultra-necessary new kernels.

We are now going to have to decide whether to stick with Ubuntu moving
forward, as all this manual fixing of your nonsense through the night is
not my idea of fun.

[Bug 1907764] [NEW] Wi-fi causes unstable behaviour with this kernel version

2020-12-10 Thread Jim Patterson
Public bug reported:

After a recent update to linux-image-5.4.0-56, my Ubuntu install has become
unusable. Some symptoms:
- Firefox would apparently launch but window would never appear
- Thunderbird would launch but hang shortly after displaying window
- "ip addr" would hang
- "sudo " would hang without ever prompting for password
- The "Settings" dialog would complain that NetManager was not running
Based on a bit of internet research, I removed my wi-fi USB device and
rebooted, and now the system will run. So, it seems this latest version has
some issue with the wifi support needed for my card which lsusb describes as:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:761a Ralink Technology, Corp. MT7610U ("Archer
T2U" 2.4G+5G WLAN Adapter

Note that I'm currently running under the next-to-last version installed
,linux-image-5.4.0-54, which supports this card just fine.

[Bug 1890435] Re: gcc-10 breaks on armhf (flaky): internal compiler error: Segmentation fault

2020-12-10 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
I'll give things a try in current Hirsute (gcc on 10.2.1, qemu on 5.2) building
with gcc-10.
If we are back at a level where retries work I'm ok to lower severity.
I'll let you know about these results in a few days.

But since we have had the case of it reaching 100% breakage (and then
would be e.g. un-serviceable) I'm unsure if we should - even then -
fully close it.

[Bug 1907761] [NEW] vanishing kernel 5.4.0-56-generic

2020-12-10 Thread Gord
Public bug reported:

Kernel version 5.4.0-56-generic has just vanished off the face of the
earth, after an update to that version some days ago. This was not
updated from "proposed" or anything like that, it was updated in the
normal way from "focal-updates".

I had to revert several systems to kernel version 5.4.0-54-generic,
after apt reported that my installed 5.4.0-56-generic packages were
foreign, unknown and unaccounted-for.

Have you lost your damn minds?

By all means issue a fix for this outrageous situation.

[Bug 1906627] Re: GSS-SPNEGO implementation in cyrus-sasl2 is incompatible with Active Directory, causing recent adcli regression

2020-12-10 Thread Jason Alavaliant
have tested using libsasl2-modules=2.1.27~101-g0780600+dfsg-3ubuntu2.2,
libsasl2-modules-db=2.1.27~101-g0780600+dfsg-3ubuntu2.2, libsasl2
-modules-gssapi-mit=2.1.27~101-g0780600+dfsg-3ubuntu2.2 and
adcli=0.8.2-1ubuntu1.1

Join to AD without specifying --use-ldaps seemed to run without error.
So from my perspective I'd say those combination of packages fixes the
problem.

Thanks

[Bug 1907752] [NEW] deletes content while editing

2020-12-10 Thread dragonpharaoh
Public bug reported:

I have a rather odd situation. It doesn't matter if it is a previously
saved note or a new note, while I am editing a note in Ubuntu 18.04,
Gnote will delete the most recent information that I typed into the
note. I am using Gnote 3.28.0. As you can imagine, needing to repeatedly
re-type my notegets annoying quickly.. any thoughts on how to fix this
bug?

I think the issue may be with the "autosave" , the bug seems to be timer
related. I tried to time the problem several times, once it happened
exactly one minute after I stop editing a note (the content I most
recently entered literally disappear), but the timining of the error is
not consistent...

As a workaround, I had been using " < " as a save button (though
irrlevant now, as today the problem happened even after using the "<")

At the moment, I typing notes into text editor, and copying and pasting
the stuff that I need to save permanently.

The following is the repro session running through the full testcase:

https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/Zr4C2pMbrk/

A 2 disk Raid10 array was created, LVM created and formatted ext4. I let
the consistency checks finish, and created, then deleted a file. Did
another consistency check, then performed a fstrim. After another
consistency check, we unmount and perform a fsck on each individual
disk.

[Bug 1906155] Re: USB Passthrough Fails on Start, Needs domain Reset

Sorry, bad wording on my part. The USB device I am connecting is a
Logitech Nano Receiver ... keyboard and mouse both connected to it. So
at the UEFI / Grub stage - only the keyboard, as you correctly point out
:-).

> It only matters if you have your mouse working, but then issues with
> the multitude of mouse-inputs.

Not 100% sure I follow you :-). But I do have "two" mice connected - one
on the guest (USB Passthrough), the other to virt-manager ... which is
running over X-Windows from the host to an X-Server. Not sure that makes
any difference, but just in case!

> Due to that if you use GPU passthrough (and no other virtual display)

I can disable spice if you want, go only USB Passthrough. Just let me
know. I have done that before, can try it (for this particular issue).

BTW, another thought. The VM is defined as Q35 - in fact, a few items below,
just in case they could be part of this,
hvm

Thanks!

[Bug 1907732] [NEW] Latest mouse driver broken

2020-12-10 Thread Robert Pearson
Public bug reported:

The latest update for 18.04 has broken mouse driver. I have to click the
select button 3 or 4 times before it is recognized.

Try regression testing on more than one machine before releasing
updates.

Fix the WiFi driver for 20.04 so that I can down-grade to 20.04.
