[Bug 1908770] [NEW] [pull-pkg] unnecessary crash report with ubuntutools.pullpkg.InvalidPullValueError in parse_pull(): Must specify --pull

2020-12-18 Thread Nobuto Murata
Public bug reported:

When invoking the command without `--pull`, the command tells me "Must

collection process as /var/crash/_usr_bin_pull-pkg.1000.crash and gives
unnecessary traceback as follows.

[Bug 1880211] Re: Logwatch package points to wrong location for zfs utils

2020-12-18 Thread Bert Van de Poel
I'm experiencing the same problem as comment #20 describes. Paths have
been replaced with just command names, but those won't work for the
tests performed. I'm on Ubuntu 18.04 however, so this I think the status
should also be changed for bionic. I actually expect this is broken in
all versions listed.

Hey, is there some transparency into an actual fix here? https://cloud-

has this issue. I still cannot use the cloudimg with libvirt / qemu

Hi all,

The latest kernel tree

the complete solution to fix this bug. So we can expect kernel v5.11 to
fix this issue without any additional work. Before the release of v5.11,
you are suggested to use #189 to save your touchpad.

The complete solution is three patches,
 - 47a0001436352c9853d72bf2071e85b316d688a2 ("pinctrl: amd: remove debounce
filter setting in IRQ type setting")
 - 06abe8291bc31839950f7d0362d9979edc88a666 ("pinctrl: amd: fix incorrect way
to disable debounce filter")
 - 8dcb7a15a585b6d0fee15751ce11d7a68cfedd56 ("gpiolib: acpi: Take into account
debounce settings")

The first two patches has reached the stable tree. If the last one is
also backported to LTS kernel, you won't need to install kernel 5.11.
But I don't know when this will happen.

Thanks to all who have participated in the process of bug hunting,
especially to @wangjun (biggerchina), @Mike Boruta (maridius), @Helmut
Stult (helmut-stult) and @Baq Domalaq (baq). I spent about one month of
my internship at the Linux Foundation on this bug. So I should also
thanks to the Linux Foundation for funding this work.

There is nothing wrong with this patch. As written in the commit
message, this patch depends on commit 06abe8291bc31839950f7d0362d9979edc88a666
("pinctrl: amd: fix incorrect way to disable debounce filter") and
commit 8dcb7a15a585 ("gpiolib: acpi: Take into account debounce settings")
to fix the touchpad. And the latter one hasn't been adopted by Linux
kernel v5.10.

50388 means the glitch filter has been disabled. So the patch has took
info effect. You touchpad should work now.

Since you could still access /sys/kernel/debug/gpio, it means the old
module must have been loaded. The path of the old module could be
/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/pinctrl/pinctrl-amd.ko.xz.

So when both old pinctrl-amd.ko.xz and new pinctrl-amd.ko exist, the old
module is loaded by the kernel.

[Bug 1908767] [NEW] SECURITY: Lock screen not blocking keyboard input when laptop lid is closed.

2020-12-18 Thread Max C
Public bug reported:

I am using the rolling release of Xubuntu and I have discovered that
when I lock the screen with a terminal emulator and close the lid the
screen becomes unlocked and allows me to type in commands into the
terminal even when locked. I am using a usb keyboard.

Another observation worth mentioning...
When I open the lid the unlocked screen quickly flashes on the screen before
quickly locking again.

@tjaalton. I had held off on verifying this because of a xenial update
being gated on SRU acceptance (autopkgtests failure which pre-existed
this SRU).

In order to close out on the bug in Xenial, we need approval and upload

[Bug 1792783] Re: Cannot update Identity Roles in Rocky

2020-12-18 Thread J. Greg Mackinnon
Perhaps I am dense, but this problem seems to affect me as well. I am
using a brand-spanking new openstack-dashboard install out of JAAS.ai,
and I cannot add roles using the admin user account provisioned during
"juju deploy".

I only following instructions for LDAP authentication for a new charmed
Kubernetes install, and cannot make forward progress, because the documented
setup requires that I create three roles that do not exist in an out-of-box
deployment:
https://ubuntu.com/kubernetes/docs/ldap

If a neither users in the built-in "Admin" and "member" roles cannot
create new roles, then who can? This charm seems pretty well broken as
a result of this bug.

2020-12-18 Thread udippel
Public bug reported:

Some two hours ago, I listened to audio through the extenal monitor,
also used as display. Then I upgraded to 20_04 from 18_04. Now the

any longer on my lenovo T410s.

What a bad mishap ... . And what to do now?

[Bug 1908757] [NEW] virtualbox-dkms 6.1.10-dfsg-1~ubuntu1.20.04.1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2020-12-18 Thread Alessandro candeloro
Public bug reported:

after installing virtual box: `sudo apt install virtualbox` there seemed
to be an error with my kernel: `kernel headers for this kernel does not
seem to be installed.`.

I installed the headers: `sudo apt-get install linux-
headers-5.8.0-33-generic` and wen trying to `sudo dpkg-reconfigure
virtualbox-dkms` there is an error:

```
ERROR: Cannot create report: [Errno 17] File exists:
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.8.0-33-generic (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/6.1.10/build/make.log for more information.
```

and after `sudo dpkg-reconfigure virtualbox`:

```
required by its unit configuration.
Please pick up the following commit for the next release:
commit e4d985a3c1c873f77d20fa0cd421458cc2824996
Author: Andreas Krebbel
Date:   Thu Nov 19 20:32:24 2020 +0100
IBM Z: Fix endianess problem in pid_memory_read
The cached reads lack the big endian adjustments done in the fallback
path.
Signed-off-by: Andreas Krebbel
The patch applies cleanly ontop of elfutils_0.181-1.
strace right now is not built with unwinding support for IBM Z although both
variants should work - libdw and libunwind.
Other distros use libdw from elfutils while Ubuntu on x86 appears to use
libunwind. libdw and libunwind do support IBM Z.
It would be good to build strace with unwinding support for Z.
[Bug 1551776] Re: Calendar: high cpu usage while open
2020-12-18 Thread Mitar
This is still present for me in Ubuntu 20.04, so I do not think it is
resolved.
Moreover, through time memory usage of the app grows substantially. I
suspect there is a memory leak.
[Bug 1907922] Re: Linux ubuntu 5.4.0-1025-raspi introduces cursor lag especially for tablets
2020-12-18 Thread Jonathan Gutow
A little more information that may help:
1) Same issue seen with a complete new install of ubuntu-server-20.04 for pi 4
+ Lubuntu.
2) If I do not include `dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d` in \boot\firmware\usercfg.txt
the lag goes away. However this introduces random screen flashing and other
screen update artifacts such as blank regions.
