[Bug 1872387] Re: missing lldb-mi-10

2020-12-27 Thread Kevin
Hey there,

Not only VS code, but also Eclipse LLDB debug is stuck too. Any lldb
front end which depends on lldb-mi won't work because we cannot install
it. Possible workaround is to build the bits from SRC, eg
https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-cpptools/issues/5415, which is very
tedious.

May you please provide a pkg for lldb-mi? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1901053] Re: apt preferences files do nothing re: apt-cache policy

2020-12-27 Thread Avery Freeman
Someone on askubuntu.com recommended I start the preference file with a
CR (start preference description on the 2nd line in the file), include a
trailing CR (empty line at end of file) and be very particular to not
include any extra space characters after any of the attributes. This
appears to have worked.

I have not seen this documented anywhere, or what it relates to, but it
might be something that could be clarified with an update in
documentation.

Thanks for your consideration.

[Bug 1909347] Re: Keyboard layout used in the second place breaks keymap

2020-12-27 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I have Ubuntu MATE on a VM and could reproduce your first issue there,
i.e. it's present only when Neo 2 is not first in the list of keyboard
layouts.

Consequently this is probably an xkeyboard-config issue and not specific
to gnome-control-center. And the issue is reasonably upstream in nature.

I found this open upstream issue regarding Neo 2:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xkeyboard-config/xkeyboard-
config/-/issues/14

Can't tell if it's related to your observations. If not I would
recommend you to file a new issue upstream. If you do, please post a
link to it here for tracking purposes.

[Bug 1897491] Re: greeter hang with 100% CPU with black display

2020-12-27 Thread Matinal Sun
I have encountered this problem in the armhf board too. I employed
Xubuntu 20.04 on both RK3399(aarch64) and RK3288(armhf). Then I found
that the lightdm-greater cannot work in RK3288. The log is the same as
Steve said. I attempted to avoid this problem by logging in
automatically. It's a trick to use Xubuntu with a problematic greeter
since it still goes to a black screen if I want to change users or
reactiong. Do you find any solutions to resolve this problem?

I disabled NumLock, and then it didn't behave as weirdly as it did on my
first try. On the contrary I was able to reproduce your first issue.

But it would still be valuable to know if the issues are present also on
other desktop environments.

[Bug 1909347] Re: Keyboard layout used in the second place breaks keymap

2020-12-27 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your report.

German (Neo 2) is a very special keyboard layout, and when I add it to
my list of input sources it breaks a few things on my other layouts, and
as regards Neo 2 I don't have a clue how to make sense of it.

Have you tried to use Neo 2 on other desktop environments but
Ubuntu/GNOME? If you have, and see similar issues there, it's probably
not related to gnome-control-center, and then you may want to report
your findings upstream:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xkeyboard-config/xkeyboard-
config/-/issues

OTOH, if the unexpected behavior is only seen on Ubuntu/GNOME, this bug
report is possibly a reasonable starting point.

[Bug 1909347] [NEW] Keyboard layout used in the second place breaks keymap

2020-12-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

It's hard to really summarize the issue here. If you use the Neo2 layout
somewhere, the keymap becomes garbled in a very specific way (see
below). I am not really sure if it affects other keyboard layouts or
what happens internally. I have selected gnome-control-center as the
affected package, because this is, where it all starts. There are two
issues, which are somehow connected.

Reproduction steps (first issue):

1. Open "Region & Language Settings" in gnome-control-center
2. In "Input Sources" use "German (no dead keys)" in the FIRST place and
"German (Neo 2)" in the second place (order matters!)
3. Open your favorite text editor
4. Use Super+Alt+Backspace to change to the Neo2 layout
5. Press and hold the Mod4 key (right of Left Shift) and 3.
6. You get a 3, expected would be №.

Reproduction steps (second issue):

1. Go back to the "Region & Language Settings" and now use "German (Neo 2)" in
the FIRST place and "German (no dead keys)" in the SECOND place
2. Open Chromium and open any web page (it does not work with any other
application)
3. Use Super+Alt+Backspace to change to "German (no dead keys)" layout
4. Press Ctrl+F
5. Instead of the In-Page-Search opening, you go to the search bar, which means
that the input is interpreted as Ctrl+E instead of Ctrl+F. If you press Ctrl+I
(which is Ctrl+F on Neo2), the search bar opens, which means that even though
Neo2 is selected, the old keymap is still somehow active.

Info:

1) Release: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
2) gnome-control-center: Installed: 1:3.36.4-0ubuntu2
3/4) See reproduction steps above

2020-12-27 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

I don't see mention of Balena Etcher mentioned in the official instructions;
https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/how-to-sdcard-ubuntu-server-raspberry-pi#1-overview
but the bug should likely be filed against Balena Etcher.

[Bug 1909417] Re: ubuntu server for raspberry pi 400 will not unpack to SD

2020-12-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1909417/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

apport was not installed, therefore Terminal returns command not found error.
Even installed, not sure if would work because I was entering on old kernel and
even did uninstall this malfunction kernel to enter automatically on old kernel
when booting. Sorry not being able to add the information.
Also, I forgot to mention the installer ISO image of Mint 20 Cinnamon was
modified to boot in 64bits CPU with 32bits EFI, so I could install the 64bits
version. Is the same mod as the Ubuntu for mac versions (there was still an
official build 16, but I prefer this Mint that is the last version).

[Bug 1870947] Re: SyntaxWarning with obviously buggy code

2020-12-27 Thread Tom Reynolds
https://packaging.ubuntu.com/html/fixing-a-bug.html probably still
applies.

However, expanding the version numbers for recent releases on
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dstat shows, in "Publishing details",
shows:
"Copied from debian sid in Primary Archive for Debian GNU/Linux."

So this is a direct copy from Debian - in such cases it's good to check
whether this very bug has already been fixed in Debian, in which case
another sync to Ubuntu may be in order. Or whether you can contribute
the fix to Debian, who have kindly provided the package, then have
Ubuntu sync the updated package again. See the right-hand column on
https://packages.debian.org/sid/dstat for a link to the Debian bug
tracker and additional info on the package state in Debian.

[Bug 1909410] [NEW] Kernel update to 5.4.0-58 make hardware drivers issues

2020-12-27 Thread Gustavo Jesien Pinent
Public bug reported:

After an upgrade that included 5.4.0-26 to 5.4.0-58 the GPU was set to
default only and there was an alert of driver not working, hardware
acceleration won't work. Also, WiFi was not found, only network by cable
was working.

The workaround is to choose the older kernel, and everything come back
to normal. I might uninstall this kernel and keep only the old one
during updates, so I don't have to boot holding shift and choose the
kernel. But this is a temporary solution, right?

Also, the installer is an unofficial modified version of Mint 20
Cinnamon made to boot in 64bits CPU with 32bits EFI

[Bug 1909409] [NEW] common-lisp-hyperspec-root should be file:///usr/share/doc/hyperspec/ instead

2020-12-27 Thread mr123
Public bug reported:

The current startup file contains: (setq common-lisp-hyperspec-root
"/usr/share/doc/hyperspec/").

It should be changed to (setq common-lisp-hyperspec-root
"file:///usr/share/doc/hyperspec/").

Reasons:

* When the Emacs default browser is Eww (setq browse-url-browser-
function 'eww-browse-url), having common-lisp-hyperspec-root set to
"/usr/share/doc/hyperspec/" breaks things. Eww will be looking for
http:///usr/share/doc/hyperspec/... The error message will be: "open-
network-stream: /80 Name or service not known".

Although the current value works for web browsers such as Firefox, it
may break for other browsers such as Eww. Firefox automatically converts
paths like /usr/share/doc/hyperspec/... into
file:///usr/share/doc/hyperspec/... Eww does not do this conversion.

* The documentation for the variable explicitly mentions how the
variable should be for a local copy of the HyperSpec. I quote:

The root of the Common Lisp HyperSpec URL.
If you copy the HyperSpec to your local system, set this variable to
something like "file://usr/local/doc/HyperSpec/".

How to fix the problem:

Replace (setq common-lisp-hyperspec-root "/usr/share/doc/hyperspec/")
with (setq common-lisp-hyperspec-root
"file:///usr/share/doc/hyperspec/") on lines 7 and 11 of the start up
file.

[Bug 1909407] [NEW] Mistake in Alt-Tab operation

2020-12-27 Thread Jerry Quinn
Public bug reported:

I've uncovered what I think is a bug in the way that gnome-shell
implements Alt-Tab support. First, my understanding is that the current
version of Alt-Tab is only supposed to select between windows in the
current virtual desktop.

I accidentally uncovered this as follows. I moved a Firefox window (I
have many open) from virtual desktop 2 to virtual desktop 1 using
C-S-A-Up. Then, when I use Alt-Tab, I see 3 firefox windows as part of
the 7 choices displayed. If I click on one of the other 2 firefox
windows, it takes me down to virtual desktop 2.

The window list for Alt-Tab in virtual desktop 2 doesn't include the
firefox window in virtual desktop 1, so immediately doing Alt-Tab after
the mistake doesn't reverse things.

[Bug 1906091] Re: libx264-148 libx264-152 conflict segmentation fault SIGSEGV

2020-12-27 Thread Dmitry
Rico Tzschichholz, thank you very much, you are absolutely correct. There was
OpenCV 3.3 installed on my system, it remained after update from 16.04 to 18.04
with all its 16.04 dependencies.
I removed OpenCV 3.3 and everything got fixed.
Thanks a lot for help.
The issue is fixed and may be closed.

[Bug 1909399] Re: Exception during removal of OSD blacklist entries

2020-12-27 Thread Thorbjørn
I rebuilt the package with the suggested fix (add .encode() to the
string constants "un-blacklisting" and "isn't blacklisted"), and now I
get:

Dec 27 13:29:22 ff-ceph-2 rbd-target-api[8350]: Removing blacklisted entry for
this host : 192.168.1.61:6819/1587702737

Dec 27 13:29:24 ff-ceph-2 rbd-target-api[8350]: Removing blacklisted entry for

Dec 27 13:29:25 ff-ceph-2 rbd-target-api[8350]: Successfully removed blacklist

...
So that seems to work.

[Bug 1892547] Re: [ 0.172384] ACPI Exception: Could not find/resolve named package element: OC06 (20170831/dspkginit-381) [ 0.172444] ACPI Exception: Could not find/resolve named package element: OC07

2020-12-27 Thread Witold Buczak
The ICH chips have their GPIO pins organized in 2 or 3 independent
groups of 32 GPIO pins.

It can happen that the ACPI BIOS wants to make use of pins in one group,
preventing the OS to access these.

This doesnot prevent the OS from accessing the other group(s).

This is the case for example on my Asus board.

The ACPI BIOS wants to control GPIO 18 (group 1), while I (the OS) need to
control
GPIO 52 and 53 (group 2) for SMBus multiplexing.

So instead of checking for ACPI resource conflict on the whole I/O
range, check on a per-group basis, and consider it a success if at
least one of the groups is available for the OS to use.

[Bug 1909399] Re: Exception during removal of OSD blacklist entries

2020-12-27 Thread Thorbjørn
I initially worked around this by manually un-blacklisting all the OSDs by
for i in `sudo ceph osd blacklist ls|awk '{print $1}'`; do sudo ceph osd
blacklist rm $i; done
but the next morning the cluster wouldn't start, and stopping rbd-target-api
and
rbd-target-gw fixed it, so I uninstalled ceph-iscsi for now. That is why it is
listed as not installed above.
I am currently evaluating ceph for potential use in production.

[Bug 1909399] [NEW] Exception during removal of OSD blacklist entries

2020-12-27 Thread Thorbjørn
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 20.04, official Ubuntu packages, ceph 15.2.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1,
ceph-iscsi 3.4-0ubuntu2
See stacktrace below.
Looking at the code I'm guessing this is related to
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/33054527/typeerror-a-bytes-like-object-is-required-not-str-when-writing-to-a-file-in
ie. binary vs. text
I'm not a python programmer, but from the stackoverflow article it would seem
that the output of subprocess.check_output is considered binary in python3, and
a backwards compatible fix would be do .encode() the strings constants
"un-blacklisting" and "isn't blacklisted".

[Bug 1909395] Re: Text area for failed package downloads doesn't resize with the window

2020-12-27 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1909395

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Please note: `ubuntu-bug`, `apport` & bug reporting tools are provided
with Ubuntu by default, many require manual addition for some releases
of downstream OSes based on Ubuntu (eg. Linux Mint). You should check
with your distribution first.

What I tried to fix the problem was to set the value of wifi.powersave=2 in

This didn't help.
It seems that as long as there is an active download, the connection remains
stable.

[Bug 1906131] Re: No rule to make target 'scripts/module.lds' while building out-of-tree modules

I had already reported this as bug 1906072 two days before this bug was
opened.

But I guess since this is where the activity happens, someone should
mark my bug as duplicate of this.

ppa/mainline/v5.10.3/ - using the workaround mentioned in comment #8
seems to work.
