[Bug 1912086] [NEW] install-grub failed, fatal error, on system with SSD and HHD and with Windows 10 installed

2021-01-16 Thread Simon Michelini
Public bug reported:

I am trying to install Ubuntu 20.4 alongside Windows 10. Windows is
installed on a SSD. There is also a HDD. The installer does not detect
the Windows installation. Any way I try to do it I get the same error,
that install-grub failed.

[Bug 1814012] Re: netplan type wifis needs a device option

2021-01-16 Thread stevecam
This bug affects me
tested on two different adaptors
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c /run/netplan/wpa-wlxd037453da72a.conf -iwlxd037453da72a
-Dwext
will work for me
lsusb reports 0bda:8179 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188EUS 802.11n Wireless
Network Adapter
however running
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c /run/netplan/wpa-wlxd037453da72a.conf -iwlxd037453da72a
-Dnl80211
will not work
same with
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c /run/netplan/wpa-wlxd037453da72a.conf -iwlxd037453da72a
which appears to corrospond with how netplan is attempting to initialise the
usb adapter
this option works for one adaptor that does not use nl80211 drivers

my other device will work regardless
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c /run/netplan/wpa-wlx00198611c22e.conf -iwlx00198611c22e
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c /run/netplan/wpa-wlx00198611c22e.conf -iwlx00198611c22e
-Dnl80211
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c /run/netplan/wpa-wlx00198611c22e.conf -iwlx00198611c22e
-Dwext
lsusb reports
0bda:818b Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8192EU 802.11b/g/n WLAN Adapter

It appears that there is a problem with the way wpa_supplicant/kernel drivers
are detecting hardware, I agree with Steve Langasek in that it is unclear why
the -D should be used to resolve this issue
wext is deprecated and is replaced by nl80211

[Bug 1881832] Re: Ubuntu server 20.04 fails to get IP address from DHCP server (no network connectivity)

2021-01-16 Thread Anthony Bush
@slyon, I just attempted this on one of my VM's. Modified the netplan
yaml file (only one in there, titled 000-installer-config.yaml).
Modified en1s0 to enp1s0, and rebooted the machine and it pulled an IP
correctly via DHCP.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.  Somehow when i install the desktop update icon, it
won’t delete the old kernels. So it filled up the root disk (256 MB) thereby it
won’t update due to space issues.  I noticed this problem from Ubuntu 18 and
up. So i have to delete old kernels manually on Terminal. Unfortunately, since
the root disk is full it won’t allow me to update or remove the old kernels.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

I've marked this as incomplete; as I don't see a bug, only user issues
("No space left on device").  If you believe I'm in error, please leave
a comment as to why, and you can change the status back to New.

[Bug 1902588] Re: zfs mount -a: double free / memory corruption / segfault when mountpoint of dataset is not empty

2021-01-16 Thread Mathew Hodson
This commit that introduced the segfault was applied o the 0.8-release
branch with
https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/commit/95fcb04215015950b3388ba0a6edad8e1b463415
so Focal and Groovy are affected.

That change was never applied to the 0.6.5-release or 0.7-release
branches, so Bionic and Xenial aren't affected.

[Bug 1912077] [NEW] xfce4 screensaver does not enable on Saver Timout

2021-01-16 Thread Craig Harding
Public bug reported:

xfce4-screensaver started not enabling after the 'Saver Timeout' would
be past. At some point I removed light-locker as per one of comments in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-screensaver/+bug/1875025
as I have having password unlock issues.

To give some background - I did an upgrade from 16.04 to 18.xx and then
to 20.04 LTS.

Ever since then I believe xfce4-screensaver hasn't behaved properly. My
laptop will be idle and it sometimes works (xfce4-screensaver sometimes
enables and sometimes not). I still cannot find when it works and when
it doesn't. I sometimes have to shutdown xfce4-screensaver and restart
it. When I do this and to try and debug this I have been running:

'xfce4-screensaver --no-daemon --debug 2>&1| tee
xfce4-screensaver.debug'.

Attached is that file from the last couple of days.

My xfce4-screensaver options are:
SCREENSAVER tab:
- Enables Screensaver: ON
- Activate screensaver when computer is idle: ON
- Regard the computer as idle: 2min
- Inhibit screensaver for fullscreen applications: ON
LOCK SCREEN tab:

users should use ssl.create_default_context for better/safe defaults.

[Bug 1904988] Re: [SRU] set defaults to be sslv23 not tlsv1

2021-01-16 Thread Mathew Hodson
set-defaults-to-be-tlsv1-not-sslv23.patch was dropped by python-eventlet
0.19.0-2 in Ubuntu Yakkety.

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

- python-eventlet=0.18.4-1ubuntu1 (xenial) is applying the d/p/set-
+ * python-eventlet=0.18.4-1ubuntu1 (xenial) is applying the d/p/set-
defaults-to-be-tlsv1-not-sslv23.patch to set defaults to be tlsv1 not
  sslv23

- This will prevent xenial users from using tlsv1_1 and tlsv1_2, so we
+ * This will prevent xenial users from using tlsv1_1 and tlsv1_2, so we
should set defaults to be sslv23 not tlsv1 to allow xenial users enjoy
the benefit of tlsv1_2 as well.
+
+ * set-defaults-to-be-tlsv1-not-sslv23.patch was already dropped by
+ python-eventlet 0.19.0-2 [1] in Ubuntu Yakkety.

  [Test Case]

  * Install an SSL based Spice OpenStack test env, and apply this python-
eventlet patch as well onto the nova-cloud-controller units.

  * Run the "nmap --script ssl-enum-ciphers -p 6082 " test and
  confirm whether it shows tlsv1_2

  [Regression Potential]

xenial uses openssl=1.0.2g-1ubuntu4.17, so according to page [2] after
openssl 1.0.0 an SSLv23 client would not attempt SSLv2 connections so it
just brings tlsv1_0, tlsv1_1 and tlsv1_2, it's more convenient and safer
than just having tlsv1_0. and the upstream is also using sslv23 as well
[3], and python-eventlet=0.19.0-2 started to the same thing as well.

  So no regression is expected.

  [Discussion]
The first package upload was missing the bug reference so a second package
was uploaded. The first can be rejected.

[Bug 1912075] [NEW] Ranger fails to start due to screen dependency

2021-01-16 Thread GoomerkO
Public bug reported:

In a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 install, I installed ranger package.

The first run of the ranger command fails with the following error:

ranger version: ranger 1.9.3
Python version: 3.8.5 (default, Jul 28 2020, 12:59:40) [GCC 9.3.0]

After installing the screen package everything just works, so I guest
the screen package should be in the ranger's depends list.

[Bug 1784242] Re: Totem displays a green screen on H264 videos with gstreamer1.0-vaapi

2021-01-16 Thread Philip Walden
Just installed xubuntu 20.04.

Same problem. Running sudo apt remove gstreamer1.0-vaapi and sudo apt
autoremove provided the work-around.

[Bug 1911463] Re: Can no longer successfully download Flash during postinst

2021-01-16 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
To the sponsor:

I'm asking for help with:

* A forced sync of pepperflashplugin-nonfree from unstable to hirsute

* Uploads of the SRUs as proposed in this PPA:

  https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/pepperflashplugin-
nonfree

  (please use -v1.8.7 when building)

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

Since Adobe Flash Player is officially no longer available or end of
life, they seem to have made a redirect to a link, that
pepperflashplugin-nonfree likely uses for obtaining Flash, to the 'End
of Life' page of the Flash website. This means that when installing
pepperflashplugin-nonfree from now on it'll keep trying to download the
HTML file for the end-of-life page.

The proposed uploads are plain no-change SRU backports of the dummy
package in hirsute sync'ed from Debian. With that we prevent more users
from stalling their package system by trying to install or update
  pepperflash.

  [Test Case]

  * Install pepperflashplugin-nonfree from
- {groovy,focal,bionic,xenial}-proposed
+   {groovy,focal,bionic,xenial}-proposed

  * Confirm that it installs successfully without causing any issues
- with the package system.
+   with the package system.

- * Run the update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree command and see the EOL
- notice.
+ * Run the "update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree --install" command and
+ see the EOL notice.

  [Where problems could occur]

We replace an obsolete package which creates issues with a dummy. The
upgrade removes a config file in /etc, and the download and install
functionality is not present in the new version. TBH I can't think of
  anything special.

  [Other Info]

  Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
  Newly installed pepperflashplugin-nonfree - 1.8.6ubuntu1

Someone should probably update this package to, instead of trying in
vain to download Flash, show a notice saying Flash has reached end-of-
life and so this package is no longer available. Packages like Opera
from the official Opera repository still depend on this package,
  currently.

  Output:
  Unpacking pepperflashplugin-nonfree (1.8.6ubuntu1) ...
  Setting up pepperflashplugin-nonfree (1.8.6ubuntu1) ...
