[Bug 1914100] Re: python3-heat-dashboard launch stack fails

2021-02-02 Thread Dr. Jens Harbott
This has been fixed upstream in release 1.5.1, why not simply update to
the new upstream version? The patch you attached is
https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/heat-dashboard/+/694952 , you
should at a minimum show its origin.

@Kayvee, you should be able to install linux-oem-20.04b directly without
any additional ppa on Focal: https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal-updates
/linux-oem-20.04b.

Note it's linux-oem-20.04"b", not linux-oem-20.04.

[Bug 1663645] Re: Installation hangs at 66% "Installing GRUB boot loader"

I can reproduce the issue when install 18.04 with HWE, the
workaround(Kill the dmsetup process or add GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=true
to the kernel options) can works.

Whether will build the new os-prober(1.75) for fixing this issue or
not? If yes, what is the schedule?

[Bug 1914278] Re: apt autoremove is not removing unused kernels

2021-02-02 Thread TJ
Erich, looks like that code wasn't reached or if it was the object
(list) "auto_removable" was empty.

Maybe the problem is outside this code. Does apt think those packages
are still installed?

apt list --installed 'linux-image*'

Also, what is the actual content of /boot/ ("ls -latr /boot/") ? I'm wondering
if it could be that the kernels (linux-image-*) packages have been removed but
the (space-eating) initrd, img* files have remained. Each of those can be close
to 50MB.

2021-02-02 Thread Hatsune
@vanvugt "Please choose a specific language for this bug to be about."
Tamil, Thai, Sinhala(Sinhalese), Korean, Chinese, Japanese etc.

Steps to reproduce
1. Add these languages (may not need to apply system wide)
2. Switch to eg: Japanese
3. Tap(touch) on text field then screen keyboard will be appear automatically
(Or force open screen keyboard manually)
4. You will see that, it still appear in english

(This also applicable to english characters based languages similar
Spanish. just doesn't appear its unique screen keyboard)

[Bug 1913342] Re: zfs.8 man page snapshot listing instructions are confusing

2021-02-02 Thread Paul Jackson
Filed upstream, as you suggested:

https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/11562

It's been a couple of years since I've pushed a pull request on github,
so I'll probably remain lazy and not get around to it in this case, to
avoid the extra time it would take me to recall just how to do it. A
few minutes work for someone actively familiar with the process is
likely a couple hours work for a (relapsed back to) clueless git such as
myself.

Thanks for your spot on initial response to this here bug. Keep up the
good zfs work.

[Bug 1789177] Re: RabbitMQ fails to synchronize exchanges under high load

2021-02-02 Thread Seyeong Kim
I confirmed that upgrading olso.messaging in n-ovs causes rabbitmq issue

Right after restarted n-ovs-agent, I can see a lot of errors in rabbitmq log[1]
which is the same as the error when rabbitmq failover issue ( the original
issue of this LP )

Then after I upgraded oslo.messaging in neutron-api unit and restarted
neutron-server, below errors are gone and I was able to create instance
again.

After upgrading oslo.messaging in n-ovs only, exchange they communicate didn't
match.
As changing exchanges they use depends on publisher-cosumer relation.

So I think there are two ways.
1. revert this patch for Q ( original failover problem will be there )
2. upgrade them with maintenance window

Thanks a lot

[Bug 1914288] Re: Xorg freeze

2021-02-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

1. Next time the freeze happens please reboot and then in a Terminal
window run:

   journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

2. Please also follow these steps in case the freeze is the result of
something crashing:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment

3. Please try an older kernel series if you can, like:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.4.94/ and tell us if
that avoids the problem.

I am also having similar issues. I have a XPS 13 9310, Core i7-1165g7 with 32GB

the two packages. That repository no longer has linux-headers-oem-20.04b but
has linux-headers-oem-20.04.

Here's what I have:

linux-headers-oem-20.04/groovy,now 5.8.0.42.46 amd64 [installed]

My XPS firmware (bios version) is 1.2.5.
After running fwupdmgr get-updates and fwupdmgr get-upgrades I do not see any
new updates available for my machine.

I cannot get the WiFi working. Any help is appreciated.

[Bug 1914164] Re: [nvidia] [radeon] Shell labels randomly disappear from the menu panel (top bar)

2021-02-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. It's possible there's some VT switching happening in the screen
locking/unlocking. Or just mode switching. If so then that can trigger
an annoying feature of the Nvidia driver where it will forget its
textures:

https://www.khronos.org/registry/OpenGL/extensions/NV/NV_robustness_video_memory_purge.txt

We don't yet have all the fixes we need to deal with that feature of
Nvidia, and it can't be turned off either. The other bugs associated
with this are bug 1876632 and bug 1855757.

There's also bug 1910435 which sounds most similar to this, but the
author of that bug is not responding at the moment.

Re: [Bug 1899553] Re: gcvt and qgcvt do not always provide requested precsion

I disagree with that.
The man page says:
"It produces ndigit significant digits in either printf(3) F format or E
format"

If the intention was to limit the value of "ndigit" to no more than 17,
then I believe that documentation should have (and, indeed, would have)
specified that limit.

Every double (apart from infs and nans) encapsulates a precise base 2
value. I see nothing unreasonable in wanting to see that precise base 2
value expressed exactly in base 10.
That is what the "%.*g" formatting of sprintf provides - which is,
of course, the workaround I use.

gcvt's commitment to a string containing only "significant digits" implies
that no more than 768 digits will ever be output for any double.
That is, the precise value of every finite double can be expressed exactly
in 768 (or fewer) decimal digits.

> If you deeply believe that glibc needs to be fixed in this aspect please

>
>
I do believe that gcvt and qcvt are not behaving in accordance with their
documented (nor expected) behaviours.
However, the man also says:
" Marked as LEGACY in POSIX.1-2001. POSIX.1-2008 removes the
specification of gcvt(), recommending the use of sprintf(3) instead
 (though snprintf(3) may be preferable)."

Therein lie the only excuses I can see for *not* fixing it.

I think I would at least like "upstream" to be made aware of this issue.
And the best way to achieve this would be to file a bug report.
Can you provide me with a link to the correct location for doing this ?

Thanks for responding. I appreciate the time you've taken in doing this.

Cheers,
Rob

2021-02-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1914228/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

Curtin could truncate the requested size to the greater of 1MB or size of

fakechroot_2.19-3_all.deb and libfakechroot_2.19-3_arm64.deb

on ubuntu 18.04 but they didn't fix the problem. Having installed the
packages that u have suggested have fixed the PAM problem, but now there
is another bug,as u can see.

If the target you're bootstrapping is Debian, and the failure is inside
the chroot, this wouldn't be a bug in the Ubuntu pam package. It might
be a bug in the Ubuntu version of fakechroot, which is where the Debian
bug you linked you was assigned.

[Bug 1914278] Re: apt autoremove is not removing unused kernels

2021-02-02 Thread TJ
I haven't been able to test this since the systems I have here don't
have any kernel images lying around, but wondering if this patch could
help narrow down the cause?

Apply to a (copy) of /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade - possibly put in
/usr/local/bin/ so it is called before the package-installed version
(don't forget to clear the bash hash cache ("hash -r") first)

Then:

sudo /usr/local/bin/unattended-upgrade --verbose --debug

[Bug 1826290] Re: geoclue mozilla location api key rate limited

2021-02-02 Thread Robin
@Sebastien Bacher Just doing an occasional Python GET request to the
same URL others are using:
https://location.services.mozilla.com/v1/geolocate?key=geoclue

Alternatively, calling that URL in a browser. It works occasionally, but
mostly it just returns a 403. The JSON string:
{"error":{"errors":[{"domain":"usageLimits","reason":"dailyLimitExceeded","message":"You
have exceeded your daily limit."}],"code":403,"message":"You have

Hi Manish,

Thanks for testing the Groovy 5.8 kernel in -proposed!

The Focal 5.4 / Bionic 5.4 HWE kernel will be in -proposed next week
sometime, if you are looking to verify that as well.

I will also ask our customer in common to verify the Bionic HWE kernel
when it becomes available.

Thanks for making the patch!

[Bug 1872950] Re: Nvidia 340.108 fails to install with kernels 5.5 onward

2021-02-02 Thread Butterfly
Hi Dimitri John Ledkov (@xnox),

What happens when installed driver with ubuntu-drivers is updated with
the update manager? In this case, new module that is not installed with
ubuntu-driver will not be signed? Can you share an official reference
that the Ubuntu-drivers tool automatically signs the modules? I have
never come across any information about the auto-signature capability of
the ubuntu-drivers tool and I wondering how it works.

Best regards.

2021-02-02 Thread Avital Ostromich
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Hi Matthew,

We have verified the fix with proposed kernel.
I hope that I have corrected the "tags" appropriately.

Thanks,
Manish

[Bug 1894778] Re: Cannot probe sata disk on sata controller behind VMD: ata1.00: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x4)

2021-02-02 Thread fabianbur
Aksahat:

Could something go wrong while doing this?

No, it couldn't be worse than what you already have. The OEM kernel is
tested and resolves this particular bug and others.

How long before patched kernel is released for ubuntu-20.04?

That question is for the Ubuntu development team. I dare to calculate
that between two and four weeks. Maybe less, but no more than that.

How can I be sure of my error is this same error and will be relsolved
by patch?

If you use sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04 you reboot and in grub you
select the OEM kernel and it fixes the error, that's it.

If you don't want to do that, check the detail of the error in this
thread and compare it with yours.

The command output you share says nothing more than the kernel version
you have.
