[Bug 1713490] Re: error migrating blocked on virtio-net-pci.rom

2021-02-21 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
@Norman - Not a bad idea. The content is synced from the source already,
just the size allocation is what can mismatch - it happens so early that
it is local. It was suggested like 3 times (I'm sure you could find them
on the ML-archive somewhere) or so to transfer the source-size as part
of the initial migration meta-data (that would then need a new arg to
qemu to specify the size, so it would be qemu arg + libvirt migration
data + libvirt rendering that arg accordingly + capability checks for
the same). But so far no one ever (neither upstream nor any distro)
found the time to implement this feature.

[Bug 1916243] Re: Xorg unable to select nvidia

2021-02-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

If appears the Nvidia driver is having trouble detecting your Nvidia
GPU. It also appears you have installed a version of the Nvidia driver
that is:

 (a) Not supported by Ubuntu; and
 (b) The only version supporting your GPU according to the Nvidia website.

I am not sure what to do in this case. I suggest starting by
uninstalling the driver you have manually installed and then use the
'Additional Drivers' app to search for a supported driver.

Thanks for the bug report.

Please try uninstalling the 'hidetop...@mathieu.bidon.ca' extension. If
that doesn't fix the problem then next please check for crash reports
using these instructions:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment

Finally, if there are no crash reports then next time the system returns
from a long hang (without rebooting) run this command:

  journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

2021-02-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

2021-02-21 Thread Humphrey van Polanen Petel

Thunderbird opens emails without being told to do so.

None of the opened emails as seen on the attached screenshot were opened
by me.

Of interest must be the fact that not more than those emails shown were
opened.

It has happened to me before.

[Bug 1915750] Re: Intel 9460/9560 (USB 8087:0aaa, PCI 8086:a370)) with wifi on, bluetooth speaker output sound is stuttering / garbled / jittery

Also, it appears you are using kernel version 5.3.18-050318-generic
which is not supported. Please try a newer kernel version if you can.

[Bug 1915750] Re: with wifi on, bluetooth speaker output sound is stuttering / garbled / jittery

2021-02-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

First, please try closing the Settings window and tell us if that fixes
the issue (per bug 1797002).

If that did not fix the issue then as a workaround you could try
choosing only 5GHz wifi networks as those will not interfere with
Bluetooth like 2.4GHz networks do. To find out the frequency of your
networks you can run this command in a Terminal window:

  iwlist scanning

[Bug 1915704] Re: Specific pointing device disappear/disconnect when standby

2021-02-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

Firstly, if you have 'tlp' installed then please uninstall it because it
can cause problems like this.

Secondly, you mention 'Microsoft' and 'Trust' mice in the bug
description but your logs only ever seem to show:

 * Logitech USB Optical Mouse
 * Sunplus Innovation Technology Inc. Optical Mouse

So I would like to understand which is the one you call the 'Trust'
mouse. While the 'Trust' mouse is plugged in, please run:

  lsusb > lsusb2.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

[Bug 1915382] Re: external Monitor shows »No Signal« after dpms sleep

2021-02-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please don't try "DP connected via usb" because that would introduce a
new set of potential bugs that would confuse the issue here. Or if you
do start using "DP connected via usb" then we should close this bug and
open new ones.

[Bug 1913453] Re: Xorg freeze

2021-02-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. That seems to show the gnome-shell process is freezing for many
seconds at a time. There is a hint it might be related to the fprint
(fingerprint) service. Separately there is also a kernel crash upon
resuming from sleep.

The first thing we should look into is the gnome-shell freeze. Please
run these commands to gather more info:

  apport-collect 1913453
  gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.shell > settings.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

** Summary changed:

- Xorg freeze
+ gnome-shell freeze

[Bug 1915003] Re: SRU: Always update the initramfs when changing power profile

2021-02-21 Thread Alex Tu
# suggestion:
On nvidia settings UI, there's no message saying it's building initrd after
user select on-demand mode. So, the nvidia settings looks like just hangs up
when it's building initrd.

If user have multiple kernel before selecting on-demand, user might be
confused and treat it as nvidia settings UI hangs up then force close it
or reboot machine.

[Bug 1916418] [NEW] Custom properties set with ENV{WHATEVER} in parent no longer imported with IMPORT{parent} in udev rule

2021-02-21 Thread Jonathan Kamens
Public bug reported:

DisplayLink uses these udev rules to start the displaylink service when
a displaylink device is plugged in:

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", DRIVERS=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="17e9",
IMPORT{builtin}="usb_id", ENV{DISPLAYLINK_DEVNAME}="$env{DEVNAME}",
ENV{DISPLAYLINK_DEVICE_ID}="$env{ID_BUS}-$env{BUSNUM}-$env{DEVNUM}-$env{ID_SERIAL}",
ENV{REMOVE_CMD}="/opt/displaylink/udev.sh $root
$env{DISPLAYLINK_DEVICE_ID} $env{DISPLAYLINK_DEVNAME}"

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", DRIVERS=="usb",
ATTRS{idVendor}=="17e9", ATTR{bInterfaceClass}=="ff",
ATTR{bInterfaceProtocol}=="03", IMPORT{parent}="DISPLAYLINK*",
RUN+="/opt/displaylink/udev.sh $root $env{DISPLAYLINK_DEVICE_ID}
$env{DISPLAYLINK_DEVNAME}"

The important thing to note here is that the first rule is for the
device that is the parent of the device triggers the second rule, and
the first rule sets ENV{DISPLAYLINK_DEVNAME} and
ENV{DISPLAYLINK_DEVICE_ID}, and the second rule attempts to import them
with IMPORT{parent} and then use them.

This worked fine in 20.04.

It does not work in 21.04.

When the second rule is triggered, DISPLAYLINK_DEVICE_ID and
DISPLAYLINK_DEVNAME are not set.

I have confirmed via udevadm monitor that the variables are getting set
on the parent.

I have confirmed via udevadm info --attribute-walk that the device
triggering the second rule is the child of the device triggering the
first one.

I have tried to import the variables explicitly instead of using a glob
pattern and that doesn't work either.

When I modify the rule to import DEVNAME, ID_BUS, BUSNUM, DEVNUM, and
ID_SERIAL directly, that works. The problem appears to be that these
custom properties we are setting in the parent can't be imported in the
child.

Oy. Debian's ticketing system is the most archaic and arcane I've seen

here it is, (along with my email in clear for all to spam) -

[Bug 1916412] [NEW] WiFi not working after upgrade to 21.04 on ACER Aspire One

2021-02-21 Thread alpha1
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my ACER ASPIRE ONE D270-1895 to LUbuntu 21.04 Daily
Build February 20 2021, WiFi no longer works. The adapter is detected
but it is disconnected and I cannot connect. This is a dual boot
machine, and the WiFi works on on Windows. The adapter is: Broadcom
BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)

I tried to generate a bug report using ubuntu-bug 10, but when it came
to the point where I was to select S to send, it did not work (none of
the others worked either; typing anything at that point did nothing).

I realize that this is an early release and I am prepared to live with
some problems like this one. This is not a "production" computer for me;
I thought I would try the new pre-release on a machine that is not
critical so that I could get a feel for it and also so that I could
report any bugs that I come across in the hopes that it will help the
developers improve the final release.

This is similar to #1911650, but the hardware is very different. In my
case, the ethernet adapter is working OK so I am able to connect to the
Internet OK.

[Bug 1916409] [NEW] Hifiberry ADC no longer works with jack after update

2021-02-21 Thread Pieter Bos
Public bug reported:

I have a raspberry PI configured, with a hifiberry DAC+ ADC PRO. It has
Ubuntu 20.10 installed, and worked fine, until I ran apt-get upgrade
today.

alsaloop still works, but it is impossible to get jackd to start and accept
clients. It will give errors on startup. I booted with another SD-card, and
everything ran fine. To confirm the problem was the kernel and firmware, I
booted the kernel from the old sd-card, and the OS from the other. Everything
is back to working fine again. so, there seems to be an issue with the
hifiberry overlay on a raspberry pi here.
It seems to be still possible to start at 48Khz and 512 samples buffer, but
that's not a good idea - way too much latency.

The log from the upgrade, from /var/log/apt/history.log:

Re: [Bug 1913583] Re: [plugin][k8s] Canonical Distribution of Kubernetes fixes

2021-02-21 Thread David
Hello,

Krb5 is that a good, fast and secure alternative to openldap ? Cause we
only run Linux racks and servers specialized in Linux hosting. We have
no need for skating printere or Connect such services to our servers
with Windows.

But i havent found a pretty easy and good Web GuI to control it with
like phpldap has. We only need a good auth system with master and slave
to run against our dns Also, who decides that this user Exist and do
have access to ftp and web But not Mail, another only has access to Mail
and so on.

Im new to these sort of things dough we usually always ran our own
developed web control panel with ldap with openbsd servers in front as
routers and loadbalancers and freebsd for firewalls and then debian
system behind.

But these days with powerful servers of Ubuntu it seems you can do
everything from One system.

2021-02-21 Thread Leandro Piccilli
I confirm my installation using luks + lvm is unable to boot due to the
missing lvm binary in the initramfs.
