Are you referring to the fact that the files in the list have no
thumbnails but just the generic document icon?

[Bug 1792880] Re: totalGigabytesUsed in openstack limits show indicate wrong info

2021-07-02 Thread Billy Olsen
Per upstream bug comment:

This issue is caused by lack of microversion support for Volume service
by python-openstack client. It also is unable to negotiate API
microversions with server. As a result, python-openstackclient will
always use cinder v3.0 API and will not be able to properly poll the
server.

Workaround:
cinder --os-volume-api-version 3.40 absolute-limits PROJECT-ID

[Bug 1934155] Re: fetchmail can no longer connect to underwood & gives false error msg (TLS issues)

2021-07-02 Thread Bill Yikes
I see that I overlooked the NEWS file. That's more detailed than I'm
used to seeing. As I was just now skimming through it, it was clear
that moves made to protect users from weak algorithms assumed they're on
an untunneled connection, which is not always the case. Sometimes the
SSL is just used for verification and the crypto is just redundant.

I should also mention that I struggled with the "no sslcertck" syntax.
All the options I've been using to that point were " "
format, and "no sslcertck" is an exceptional transpose of it. I first
tried "sslcertck no" because I was sure the key-value wouldn't flip.
But in fact the "keyword" really included a space. Coupled with the
inconsistency of some keywords starting with "set", I felt I couldn't
trust the man page. Adding to the confusion, some options take
arguments and some do not, but the Keyword/Option Summary table doesn't
show any BNF and it omits the token, making so we have to work
out from the wording of the "Function" column whether it's unary or
takes an argument.

Anyway, I appreciate your help and I hope my feedback helps for future
revisions.

[Bug 237941]

2021-07-02 Thread Kiwibird-2
If someone wants to point me in the right direction I can try to recode
it with my very little coding knowledge to fix this problem.

Bookmark Search Bug: Does anyone know how we can implement this fix?
There is currently no way to search for folder names in the bookmark
panel. This makes it very difficult to navigate long lists of bookmarks.
There is also no way to view the folder path of the bookmark search
results, making it difficult to organize and locate specific bookmarks.
Thank you

[Bug 237941]

2021-07-02 Thread André Pirard
If we get the "open parent folder" working again, it would be a great help in
finding the searched keyword in a bookmark, jumping to the parent folder and
reaching the list of associated bookmarks.
As a kludge, one can create a dummy bookmark with the exact name of its folder.
Thought in Wallonia.

I tried various inputs, all trigger the buffer overflow. Excerpt:

Give your character a password [up to 8 characters] ?
Enter again to verify: *** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated

[Bug 1422794] Re: lightdm-gtk-greeter crashed with SIGSEGV in cairo_surface_get_type()

2021-07-02 Thread T Mee
For me, this problem occurs in Ubuntu-18.04 and 20.04. It occurs when
dynamic hostnames are used. However, different errors seem to cause the
LightDM sessions to fail. But you can look at the logs to see how many
"new session c" sessions are logged. After a reboot and one login,
there should only be two (using a single display). The problem occurs
because lightdm starts before the hostname is changed from localhost to
the one from DNS. So all we have to do is start lightdm after that by
simply changing /lib/systemd/system/lightdm.service to add "network-
online.target" to the end of this line:

After=systemd-user-sessions.service getty@tty7.service plymouth-
quit.service

It works if the network is not plugged in too--the hostname remains
localhost.

This is my solution. Maybe an expert can review it to see if it is the
right change and hopefully backport it to Ubuntu-18.04 too.

[Bug 1768521] Re: ghost files remain after moving files

2021-07-02 Thread Kanehekili
Just installed fresh Linux Mint 20.1 XFCE. With Thunar v1.8.14 the
problem persists:

Moving a file from local to mounted smb share (two thunar windows) and then
back again works: refresh ok.
Moving a file from remote to a bookmark (e.g. Documents) will not trigger a
refresh on the mounted drive/share. (Only one Thunar instance involved)
Locally the move from "List" to "Bookmark" works

After this report, it automatically ran something like dpkg --configure

didn't do was run autoremove to remove the outdated libraries and stuff.
Rebooted into the new kernel via lilo successfully as well.

[Bug 1934529] Re: Postfix package install always fails

2021-07-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1934529/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1934542] [NEW] Open File yields colorless document list

2021-07-02 Thread John Michael Williams
Public bug reported:

I am using Shutter 0.94.3, Rev.1306.

Previously, when I opened a list of files (currently at
/home/jwill/Documents/WikiSpecies/Animalia_Plantae_8), I got colored
images in the displayed list.

Recently, all choice images are black-on-white. I have tried completely
deleting shutter and reinstalling it, but it makes no difference.

"Session - Shutter" shows a few multicolor items, and using it to open a
.png file shows the proper colors of the .png; however, the preceding
"Choose file to open" list has lost all color differences.

Is there something wrong with my software, or have you set up shutter so
it doesn't show colors in its choice list?

If it's my software, how can I correct it?

[Bug 1934414] Re: test_bpf.sh from ubuntu_kernel_selftests.net from linux ADT test failure with linux/4.15.0-149.153

2021-07-02 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
So, test_bpf is not doing either conversion and any other use on the
kernel should either be using something like sk_attach*,
bpf_prog_create*, or just using a fd that was created from
BPF_PROG_LOAD. Any user that accepts BPF programs without those checks
are up to cause issues worse than a simple div-by-zero.

So far, I could not find any such user by code inspection.

I also tested that a SO_ATTACH_FILTER (classic BPF) that does a div-by-
zero behaves the same way on 4.15.0-145, 4.15.0-147 and 4.15.0-149, that
is, the program will have an "exception", which means it returns 0. With
sockets, this means the packet is dropped. That is expected behavior.

Marking this bug priority as low as a result.
Cascardo.

[Bug 1904362] Re: [Wishlist] Disable hostname lookup by default for logwatch service sshd

2021-07-02 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
Logwatch looks up hostnames of every reported IP address, which
increases runtime (and thus increases power and network bandwidth usage)
  especially for high-traffic servers.

Secondly, the resultant URLs included in Logwatch's report emails can
  trigger spam filters.

This change adds an option to turn off ip lookup.

  [Test Case]
  1. Log into an lxc container running groovy or earlier
  2. Install logwatch
-$ sudo debconf-set-selections <<< "postfix postfix/mailname string
test.hostname.com"
-$ sudo debconf-set-selections <<< "postfix postfix/main_mailer_type string
'Local only'"
-$ sudo apt-get install -y msmtp msmtp-mta logwatch
+    $ sudo debconf-set-selections <<< "postfix postfix/mailname string
test.hostname.com"
+    $ sudo debconf-set-selections <<< "postfix postfix/main_mailer_type string
'Local only'"
+    $ sudo apt-get install -y msmtp msmtp-mta logwatch
  3. Force an initial logrotation
-$ sudo /usr/sbin/logrotate -vf /etc/logrotate.conf
+    $ sudo /usr/sbin/logrotate -vf /etc/logrotate.conf
  4. Run logwatch manually
-$ sudo logwatch --detail Med --service sshd --range "between
+    $ sudo logwatch --detail Med --service sshd --range "between

On a system with sshd exposed to the internet that has been up for some
time, this may take a considerable amount of time to run

  [Where Problems Could Occur]
- * Think about what the upload changes in the software. Imagine the change is
- wrong or breaks something else: how would this show up?
-
- * It is assumed that any SRU candidate patch is well-tested before
- upload and has a low overall risk of regression, but it's important
- to make the effort to think about what ''could'' happen in the
- event of a regression.
-
- * This must '''never''' be "None" or "Low", or entirely an argument as to why
- your upload is low risk.
-
- * This both shows the SRU team that the risks have been considered,
- and provides guidance to testers in regression-testing the SRU.
-
- [Other Info]

- * Anticipate questions from users, SRU, +1 maintenance, security teams and
the Technical Board
- and address these questions in advance
+ Since logwatch filters logs for errors pertinent to administrators,
+ standard things to watch out for are undesired changes in this filtering
+ behavior, such as flagging or failing to flag issues differently than
+ before, other than the specific messages being filtered with this
+ change. This specific change deals with how IP addresses are translated into
hostnames, so particular issues to watch for would be any logic dependent on
having textual addresses rather than numerical ones.

  [Original Report]

By default, logwatch performs a hostname lookup of every IP address
reported in SSHD logs. This has two negative consequences:

  1. If there are lots of IP addresses to lookup, this increases the run time
of logwatch significantly.
  2. If logwatch is set to email logs, some spam filters detect the hostnames
as URLs and will flag the email as spam due to the apparently large number of
links. See
https://serverfault.com/questions/977628/logwatch-emails-marked-as-spam-how-to-stop-reverse-dns-on-bot-hosts/1042679

https://sourceforge.net/p/logwatch/git/ci/88c0d675f10e425faeddd23316c061f425f39a06/

  This wishlist has two requests:
  1. Backport the patch (which is very easy to apply) to logwatch packages in
currently supported LTS versions of Ubuntu. The patch defaults to performing
the IP lookup, so this would not change the behavior of any existing
installations, but it would expose the ability to disable these lookups if
needed.
  2. For future Ubuntu distributions, set the config to disable SSHD IP lookups
by default. This could be accomplished by introducing
/usr/share/logwatch/dist.conf/services/sshd.conf with contents:
  $sshd_ip_lookup = No

[Bug 1934538] [NEW] Package linux-modules-nvidia-460-5.8.0-59-generic not included in kernel 5.8.0-59-generic upgrade

2021-07-02 Thread Curtis Schroeder
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release:20.04

  Installed: 5.8.0-59.66~20.04.1

Packages

During the upgrade to the 5.8.0-59-generic kernel in Ubuntu 20.04, apt
showed an upgrade to the NVIDIA 460 driver as withheld. Proceeding with
the 5.8.0-59-generic upgrade breaks the installed NVIDIA 460 driver and
causes the Nouveau driver to load after reboot.

Manually installing package linux-modules-nvidia-460-5.8.0-59-generic
allows the updated NVIDIA 460.80 driver to complete installation and
makes the Ubuntu 20.04 installation whole and completely up-to-date
again after a subsequent reboot.

[Bug 1934439] Re: Add Ubuntu Pro banner to Livepatch page

2021-07-02 Thread Lech Sandecki
Thanks for sharing that, Robert.

I like the idea to rename the Livepatch tab to Ubuntu Pro and this is
the design that I think is planned for 21.10. That said, the idea of
adding that banner to the 'software updates' card is worth discussing if
it's as easy to implement as the current design.

Dismissing the banner is ok and I don't think it should return. I also
don't think that we need to make it automatically disappear if you
attached your desktop. At this stage, I am not even sure if you will be
aware when a subscription got attached, but for 21.10 you will have to
know that.

The link would most probably take you to ubuntu.com/advantage.
Hopefully, it can be updated at a later stage if we see a need for a
dedicated /desktop/pro page.

By 21.10 we should have a target design ready and it will be implemented
by another SRU. I don't expect any other "non-beta" conversion to happen
between now and 21.10 therefore I don't see a need for smart beta-status
management.

hope it helps!

Me too. After the recent thunderbird update, every time I send an email
results in an extra “point” that I can seemingly get rid of only by
logging out and back in.

[Bug 1796758] Re: Because gnome-terminal-server is launched by systemd --user, logging out and back in doesn't reinit groups

2021-07-02 Thread Jonathan Kamens
This is still a problem but I'm not convinced it's enough of a problem
to warrant reopening the ticket.

I run into this because my `systemd --user` process persists between
logins because I have persistent service units running under it. For
most people `systemd --user` will exit when they log out, so for most
people, logging out and logging back in will indeed reset their groups.

Another lazy way around this is to do Alt-F2, then type in R. Might be
easier than creating a folder then deleting it.

override in the config files.

[Bug 1924604] Re: do-release-upgrade crashed with KeyError in __getitem__(): "The cache has no package named 'python-is-python2'"

2021-07-02 Thread Brian Murray
I followed the described test case and received the following dialog
after running 'do-release-upgrade -p' on an Ubuntu 18.04 system with
universe disabled and python2 packages installed.

universe component not enabled

You have the package python-minimal installed which is a python2
package. python2 has been deprecated in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and is now
available from the universe component of the Ubuntu archive. To
ensure any existing third party code you have installed continues to
work the release upgrade process would install python-is-python2 for
you. However, the universe component of the archive is not enabled on
this system. For the upgrade process to proceed you should either
enable the universe component in /etc/apt/sources.list or remove
python-minimal, libpython-stdlib

[Bug 1931958] Re: 0~git20200629+e7aa92a-8 is FTFBS

2021-07-02 Thread Heather Ellsworth
The gstreamer commit that fixes the issue is on gstreamer master on
2021-06-23:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/-/commit/b16e96dd878e0c5e7baeb8fad62ca43de1f66982

So this should be picked up in the next tag, which might be in a month
or so. Then that gstreamer needs to be picked up by debian and ubuntu
and released. But the whole time we're holding libcamera back while
waiting for the one gstreamer commit. So I wonder if the Ubuntu
gstreamer maintainers would consider pulling this commit in early.

[Bug 1891215] Re: systemd-resolved re-creates /run/systemd/resolve/*resolv.conf for every IPv6 RA received

2021-07-02 Thread Samy Mahmoudi
> whereas in truth the combination of

counterpart did not resolve it.

This statement is most probably not correct: what I meant is that the
changes made upstream did not resolve our issue.

Because the issue was fixed upstream a few months ago, I was under the
assumption that we were running a version of systemd that included the
fixes, which is clearly not the case: I realized that after Yu Watanabe
mentioned a discrepancy between the versions.

[Bug 1934155] Re: fetchmail can no longer connect to underwood & gives false error msg (TLS issues)

2021-07-02 Thread Matthias Andree
Bill,

I can sense quite a deal of frustration on your end, and am sorry for
that. I should have mentioned to also look into the NEWS file, which at
least would have told you that sslcertck is now the default.
Fetchmail's -vv verbose mode might also try to log more details on the
decisions along the way...

Your feedback as to how you find documentation confusing or incomplete
or incompletely referenced is helpful, thank you for that - although it
will take a while before improvements will make it into Ubuntu, this is
due to how software ends up for Ubuntu.

On the other hand, I must say that nobody promised that fetchmail 6.4
would be bug-for-bug-compatible with 6.3, and fetchmail has indeed
changed in the years between the 6.3.26 and 6.4.1X releases. In
particular, I was making fetchmail 6.4 protect users' credentials more
thoroughly, and this is why fetchmail finally defaults to certificate
validation, and that makes "opportunistic" encryption quite a bit more
mandatory, and the failing STARTTLS after the server hadn't offered it
was/is not helpful: In order to validate certificates, fetchmail will
try to obtain one - and on a non-SSL connection this means starttls, and
fetchmail tries it blind.

I see that it is less transparent to users than I would have hoped, so
thanks for mirroring that - the certificate validation makes TLS (or
STARTTLS in-band negotiation for that matter) less opportunistic and
more mandatory than parts of the documentation suggest.

So, "no sslcertck" is currently required to make "opportunistic" TLS
really opportunistic (your "config 2" - and not in an obscure way
mandatory), and "sslproto ''" indeed defeats TLS negotiation at all
(your config 3).

I need to think a bit more about which changes could go into 6.5, and
which will have to wait for 7.0, where the version is more of a flag to
users that reads "beware of incompatibilities".

[Bug 1934414] Re: test_bpf.sh from ubuntu_kernel_selftests.net from linux ADT test failure with linux/4.15.0-149.153

2021-07-02 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
This comes from the BPF changes done on 4.15.0-147.

i386 uses the interpreter, while other arches have JIT. The JIT cannot
be disabled on the arches that support it and have
CONFIG_BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON, which is our default.

The interpreter change that causes this has been identified. It doesn't
check that the source register is zero anymore, relying on either eBPF
fixup_bpf_calls or classic BPF bpf_convert_filter doing the job of
testing for it.

The test_bpf module, though, does not go through any of these
conversions, which leads to the test failure. Partial revert of the
interpreter changes would fix it up.

We have yet to determine if any other legitimate path for either eBPF or
cBPF will skip any of these conversions. If none do, we may leave this
for a later cycle.

Cascardo.

[Bug 1934527] Re: Window switching with Alt-Tab stops working after a while

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1934527/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

hi sergio,

my be i have a solution with selfsign.

over all i recreate the apache packages with the new verion
2.4.41-4ubuntu3.3 and use only the patch with the tow rows involved.

then i found a descripion to create a rootCA with ocsp inside

https://raymii.org/s/tutorials/OpenSSL_command_line_Root_and_Intermediate_CA_including_OCSP_CRL%20and_revocation.html

i copy and paste it straight forward and got the files

enduser-example.com.key
enduser-example.com.crt
enduser-example.com.chain

and in the cert is a ocsp uri

:~# openssl x509 -in enduser-example.com.crt -noout -ocsp_uri
http://pki.sparklingca.com/ocsp/
http://pki.backup.com/ocsp/

at that point these ocsp responders dose not exists.

[Bug 1934527] [NEW] Window switching with Alt-Tab stops working after a while

2021-07-02 Thread Florian
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 21.04,since around 01 July 2021, Alt-Tab works as usual for a
while after logging in, but then stops entirely (that is, it does
nothing; the switcher overlay fails to appear, and switching between
windows does not work). I made _no_ configuration change, and Alt-Tab
continues to be configured in the keyboard shortcuts settings as usual.

This has been described by other users here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1349544/alttab-stops-working-after-a
-while-in-ubuntu-21-04

There seems to be some possible connection to Thunderbird in particular,
and the fact that in the left-hand-side launcher (?) / favourites of the
Ubuntu desktop, the Thunderbird icon starts behaving strangely, e.g.
does not show the open Thunderbird windows when clicking on it ... while
other applications work.

unrelated to the particular bug this report is about, which, if you were
experiencing, would prevent you from ever seeing a GRUB menu.

Have you tried booting the older 5.8.0-59-generic kernel that is still
installed on your system? (Not in recovery mode) Perhaps the problem is
specific to the new kernel that was installed on your system with 21.04,
and booting the older 20.10 kernel will allow you to boot successfully
and continue debugging.

Otherwise, I think you will need to avail yourself of one of the support
options listed on , as
this bug report is not the appropriate place to continue debugging your
issue.

[Bug 1873998] Re: atril-thumbnailer fails to create .cbr thumbnails

2021-07-02 Thread Jan Wan
I've had the same problem in Ubuntu 20.04 and it turned out that the
entry in /usr/share/thumbnailers/atril.thumbnailer was wrong:
application/vnd-comicbook.rar instead of application/vnd.comicbook-rar.
I changed it and now it works.

[Bug 1934489] Re: Make Intel GPUs choose YCbCr420 encoding automatically when required for 4k 60Hz output

2021-07-02 Thread Werner Sembach
The bug still exists on 5.11.

The Patchset just got merged after the 5.13 mainline release, so in
mainline it will be in 5.14 onwards.

** Description changed:

  SRU Justification:

  Impact:
On some setups, while the monitor and the GPU support display modes with
pixel clocks of up to 600MHz, the connector might not. This prevents RGB
encoding for 4k60Hz, but YCbCr420 encoding might still be possible. However,
which color mode is used is decided before the pixel clock capabilities are
checked, causing the check to fail and discarding 4k60Hz from the list of
possible display modes.

  Fix:
This patch fixes the problem by retrying to find a display mode with YCbCr420
enforced and using it, if it is valid. It's very similar to a patch submitted
to amdgpu which fixed the same problem.

  Testcase:
Find a PC with a current Intel iGPU, but only a hdmi 1.4 output. Connect a
4k@60Hz display supporting YCbCr420 encoding to the hdmi port. Without the
patch the maximum that can be set via xrandr is 3840 × 2160 30Hz. With the
Patch 3840 × 2160 60Hz can be selected which will use YCbCr420 automatically.

[Bug 1934526] [NEW] Unable to bind hide_window key, another instance/window has it.

2021-07-02 Thread Bill Yikes
Public bug reported:

Opening a second terminal window is blocked. To reproduce from the
Ratpoison window manager, type "c-t !" to run a script that contains:

$ terminator $geometry --command="screen -S full -c $configfile"

That launches fine, but within that screen session run "sudo -iu root"
followed by:

$ terminator --command='/usr/bin/screen -c $configforroot'

It cannot open a new window. It says:

ConfigBase::load: Unable to open /etc/xdg/terminator/config ([Errno 2] No such
file or directory: '/etc/xdg/terminator/config')
Unable to connect to DBUS Server, proceeding as standalone

** (terminator:2367): WARNING **: 14:17:48.988: Binding 'a'

[Bug 1891215] Re: systemd-resolved re-creates /run/systemd/resolve/*resolv.conf for every IPv6 RA received

2021-07-02 Thread Dan Streetman
** Description changed:

  [impact]

networking changes, like RA events, can cause systemd-resolved to re-
write the resolv.conf file, even if the contents didn't change,
resulting in unnecessary increased amount of inotify events

  [test case]

1625238226 0 4096

  [regression potential]

regressions would result in incorrect or missing data in the resolv.conf
file, possibly resulting in dns failures or errors

  [scope]

this is needed for h and eralier

this is (potentially) fixed upstream by
f3e1f00d03445911ee73729219cea88c8a70c612 which in first included in
v248, so this is needed in hirsute and earlier

  [original description]

  # Issue description:

On 2 Linode VMs that are used as lxd hosts, we noticed that
  /run/systemd/resolve/*resolv.conf were re-created quite frequently (~
once per second). We noticed because of the log noise from lxd's dnsmasq
instance using inotify to watch the target of /etc/resolv.conf (which
points to the stub-resolv.conf in our case). This was (wrongly) reported
as a lxd bug (https://github.com/lxc/lxd/issues/7765) until it became
apparent it was more likely to be a problem with systemd(-resolved)?.

The log noise is the observable problem that would be nice to see
  addressed:

    root@lxd02:~# uptime
     17:55:48 up 9:52, 1 user, load average: 0.18, 0.11, 0.05
    root@lxd02:~# journalctl -b0 | grep -cF dnsmasq
    158609

Upon further investigation, it seems that systemd-resolved re-creates
the resolv.conf and stub-resolv.conf files whenever an IPv6 RA is
  received.

  1) One can observe that by setting systemd-resolved's service in debug
  mode:

  $ sudo systemctl edit systemd-resolved

and in the editor that is opened, add and save this content:

  [Service]
  Environment=SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug

then restart systemd-resolved and watch the logs scroll by with:

  $ journalctl -fu systemd-resolved

  3) In another terminal, watch the files be recreated with:

  watch -d -n 0.1 stat /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf

  3) In yet another terminal, run a packet capture and watch "ICMP6,
  router advertisement" messages come by:

  sudo tcpdump -ni eth0 icmp6

You will see that every time a RA packet comes in, resolved's journal
  will log this:

    Aug 11 17:33:55 lxd02 systemd-resolved[15368]: Sent message
  type=signal sender=n/a destination=n/a path=/org/freedesktop/resolve1
  interface=org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties member=PropertiesChanged
  cookie=244 reply_cookie=0 signature=sa{sv}as error-name=n/a error-
  message=n/a

And the stat monitoring terminal will blink to highlight the new inode
and timestamps of the freshly replaced stub-resolv.conf file.

I've also noticed that "auto" and "TLS1+" have the same meaning when
passed to --SSLPROTO. That's part of the problem. So now there is
duplication, and no way to get opportunistic crypto. If auto was
previously opportunistic, then the change to remove it should be rolled
back.
