Re: [Bug 1936769] Re: [Braswell] HDMI monitors don't work when powered off and on again
I think this might be a monitor problem. I swapped the VGA and HDMI monitors and the system now comes back up as it should BUT I have done this before and then it went bad again. I think the next thing is to see if the Lenovo monitor has a software upgrade but their website is down, so wait and see I guess. Regards, Graeme. Re: [Bug 1936769] Re: [Braswell] HDMI monitors don't work when powered off and on again
Thanks again for your reply For some reason I nearly missed your email, Google sent it to Promotions and I only found it because it came up on my phone. Cold reboot does not show the option of Wayland but logging out did but the HDMI still failed to come up. I also tried running both Bionic Beaver and Xubuntu from DVD but the problem still existed. This makes me wonder if somehow it is a computer problem; although HP is said to be maximized for Ubuntu. When it was current BB worked OK. It is only since upgrade the problem has existed. Hope you have some more thoughts on the matter. [Bug 1920836] Re: Show Extended Security Maintenence status
>> Is there a reason why the ua client doesn't do this itself internally, i.e. it gives you fresh json or returns the cached copy if it can't do the update? Currently the only "time" during which ubuntu-advantage-tools (UA client) could perform the logic to exec 'sudo ua status' is during postinst at package install upgrade time. UA client can not perform that status setup during package install for the same timeout reasons you mentioned. It is a potentially long operation. If run during a package install it could delay or prevent other package upgrades if it hits a timeout and/or error. That said, we are working on instrumenting a systemd timer service that can run config change/setup operations out of band of typical APT package installs. So, this case could be handled by that timer-based service. This SRU does represent. This changeset as-is does represent an improvement to existing cases because the Software properties UX demonstrates awareness of ESM (and contract expiry information) properly for attached machines, or unattached machines where `sudo ua status` has been run. Subsequent releases of software-properties will now be able to take advantage of reading "ua status --format=json" output directly as non- root (due to a bug-fix released in 27.2.1). The non-root user will not have to rely anymore on that json file if absent as the --format=json output will render the same JSON dict that would be present on disk for the root user. This is a fix that is under verification in the -proposed queue now for ua-tools and was not available at the time of this original software-properties PR. I'm ok with this approach as-is knowing that we can significantly improve the behavior once ubuntu-advantage- tools 27.2.1 is released to X B F and H -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1920836 Title: Show Extended Security Maintenence status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/1920836/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1932548] Re: [Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201] Video conferences constantly freeze when I am on wireless [8086:a0f0]
@skidooman Could you try the software configuration you are using in #26, but disable UFW? I am using Precision 5750 from daily basis (it utilizes the same Wi-Fi firmware as yours), but I didn't encounter the firmware crash like yours so frequently, I can finish the meeting with Wi-Fi everyday, and I am using https://www.asus.com/Networking-IoT-Servers/WiFi-Routers/ASUS-WiFi-Routers/RT-AX56U/, which is Wi-Fi 6 too. [Bug 1936847] Re: [amd] Xorg crashed on wakeup from suspend
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Tags added: amdgpu ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1936847 Title: [amd] Xorg crashed on wakeup from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1936847/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1573345]
I think I'm experiencing this bug too. In my case, each broken screen sleep leads to wallpaper change on my secondary monitor, disabling the compositor and sometimes moving certain windows around (usually code- oss). In my /var/log/Xorg.0.log I can see the the screens disconnecting, exactly as Matthew Barnes said. My testing consisted of logging output of `xrandr` in 0.1s intervals throughout different sleep cycles. I set "Switch off screens after" to 1 minute in system settings and then woke up the screens after different periods of time. I found out that if I wake up my computer after 3 or less minutes (including 1 min of waiting for the screens to switch off), it always wakes up correctly. Correct screen wake up after 3 min - everything is fine: 1562 DP-2 connected 2560x1440+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 597mm x 336mm 1562 DP-4 connected primary 2560x1440+2560+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 597mm x 336mm Broken wake up after 4 min - monitors temporarily disconnect, compositor is disabled, wallpapers change, windows are moved around (for DP-4): 2027 DP-4 connected primary 2560x1440+2560+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 597mm x 336mm 7 DP-4 disconnected primary 2560x1440+2560+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 8 DP-4 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 7 DP-4 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 54 DP-4 connected primary 2560x1440+2560+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 597mm x 336mm Interestingly, when kscreen is not running, the behavior doesn't change but the logs look a bit differently. Broken wake up after 4 min, kscreen not running (for DP-4): 1982 DP-4 connected primary 2560x1440+2560+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 597mm x 336mm 15 DP-4 disconnected primary 2560x1440+2560+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 76 DP-4 connected primary 2560x1440+2560+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 600mm x 340mm I uploaded the compressed logs to this Github repo: https://github.com/Jacajack/logs/tree/master/dual-monitor. I use `xzcat log.txt.xz | grep 'DP-2' | uniq -c` to read them. Some other observations: - "Broken" wake up always takes visibly more time than a normal one - I can reproduce this behavior on fresh Manjaro Live with or without Nvidia driver - Enabling/disabling DPMS doesn't change anything - It doesn't matter whether the lockscreen appears - "Auto input switch", "Automatic Standby" and "Smart Energy Saving" in screens' OSD menus don't affect this behavior Given that XFCE users report similar behavior and that kscreen is not necessary for this bug to happen, maybe X.Org is in fact the problem? Maybe we should think of filing a bug report there? [Bug 1936759] Re: shim-signed 1.48+15.4-0ubuntu5 does not secure boot
With shim-signed 1.48+15.4-0ubuntu5 installed and secure boot enabled, I also ran: $ sudo mokutil --set-verbosity true ... rebooted, and captured output in a video as requested. See here (attaching to this ticket failed): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TBqolT2q552pK8RnDnMI7n7nIo0q8c9K/view?usp=sharing I notice in the output there are references to "VMware", possibly relevant, I did follow steps very similar to this post (importing a self signed cert with mokutil) a while ago in order to get VMware to work: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Workstation-Player/VMMON-and-VMNET-Unable-to-install-modules-after-VMware-16-1-0/m-p/2836493/highlight/true#M36511 However, no previous signed shim version had any issues with this. Did Microsoft start signing shim's with new PKI data recently that my Dell UEFI firmware doesn't know about yet? (new secure boot keys?) [Bug 1936858] [NEW] Groovy update: upstream stable patchset 2021-07-19
Public bug reported: SRU Justification Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch.
