[Bug 1940252] Re: Merge 4.1-3 for cleanups and glibc compatibility

2021-08-17 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Now that I made the test work this leaves me stuck in proposed thanks to
systemd.
But it is really odd - update-excuses lists them as failed:

chrony (4.1-1ubuntu1 to 4.1-3ubuntu1)
autopkgtest for systemd/248.3-1ubuntu4: arm64: Regression ♻ , armhf: Regression
♻ , ppc64el: Regression ♻ , s390x: Regression ♻

But if you look at the history of those architectures, there never was a
test for chrony 4.1-3ubuntu1 ?!?

I think this asks for a restart and hopefully does not grow into
anything more complex.

Actually I think the thought process was that if we never needed to
update u-boot in hirsute then there was no need to add the postinst

[Bug 1925974] Re: Ubuntu 21.04 (Hirsute) MOTD network section is broken

2021-08-17 Thread Jon N
Hi,

The latest file shows as follows:

```
try:
fcntl.ioctl(sock, SIOCETHTOOL, packed)  # Status ioctl() call
else:
res = status_cmd.tostring()
speed, duplex = struct.unpack("12xHB28x", res)
```

However even with this, or replacing and forcing only tobytes() still produces
the following for us:

We have some our ip link has various dummy interfaces and some vrf info
in it. not sure if that would cause issues with this or not.

[Bug 1940342] Re: Update-manager crashed

2021-08-17 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

The file you mention is a 3rd party source and not a Ubuntu source, so
I've marked this bug as incomplete. If you believe I'm in error, please
leave a comment explaining why, and the status can be returned to "New"
(and an apport-collect will be requestd). I'd suggest seeking support
though instead.

[Bug 1774632] Re: The symbolic link /etc/resolv.conf points to the wrong file by default

2021-08-17 Thread Zhuokun Yang
OS: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic
Kernel: x86_64 Linux 4.19.17

For those who encounter situations otherwise, here is my case and
workarounds.

my case:
---
 /etc/resolv.conf -> ../run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf

I remove the symlink and assign a new one
 /etc/resolv.conf -> /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf
reboot, and the /etc/resolv.conf says there is NO DNS SERVER. DNS Lookup is
completeny unusable at this point.

If it points to the stub-resolv.conf variant, it seems that the
systemd-resolved is not working properly, at 127.0.0.53.
---

my solution:
---
1. remove the symlink,
2. replace it with a solid file, either empty or with a line `nameserver
8.8.8.8`
3. reboot

and what you will see is a autogenerated resolv.conf made by
NetworkManager, which changes dynaminally depending on what network you
are connected to.

using netstat -tunlp to grep the nameserver in the file, you may see
```
tcp0  0 127.0.1.1:530.0.0.0:*   LISTEN
1604/dnsmasq
udp0  0 127.0.1.1:530.0.0.0:*
1604/dnsmasq
```
which is also recommended in a lot of threads in askubuntu (i.e. google enable
dns cache in ubuntu).

[Bug 1940154] Re: Xorg freeze (nouveau/ttm use-after-free with full-screen video)

2021-08-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The nouveau driver has never been well supported. It remains buggy for
years even for old hardware so the outlook is not great there. If you
would like to debug the nouveau driver then it lives in the Linux kernel
at:

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau

The other information I've been referring to comes from these pages:

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-340
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-5.11
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3142/~/support-timeframes-for-unix-legacy-gpu-releases

Nvidia has never supported their own chips for more than a few years and
your Samsung machine appears to be 11 years old. You would have less
trouble if the machine had AMD or Intel graphics. Otherwise if you use
Nvidia you will either need newer hardware or to stay on an older OS
like Ubuntu 20.04.

[Bug 1875414] Re: Wrong liquidsoap installation, libs are missed

2021-08-17 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello HF, or anyone else affected,

Accepted liquidsoap into focal-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/liquidsoap/1.4.1-1ubuntu0.20.04.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Description changed:

  This report is related to a problem reported in IRC #ubuntu whereby

Thanks for the response. Executed the command "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" again
to follow any issues with the module install. There seamse to be some
issue with the installation related to the nvidia? Any sugestions?

[Bug 1940326] [NEW] Request Package Dislocker 0.7.3 for bionic focal LTS systems

2021-08-17 Thread Brian Warner
Public bug reported:

https://github.com/Aorimn/dislocker/issues/185

https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/commit/26f770afdc68a089f56006f107eb97a0cde7b02f

bionic focal and groovy suffer from Segmentation fault errors when
attempting to use up-to-date bitlocker drives with dislocker 0.7.1

hirsute and impish are not impacted, they already are at dislocker
0.7.3.

Please think of the LTS users.

2021-08-17 Thread sudodus
Tested the current Lubuntu Impish iso file dated

2021-08-17  17:22   "impish-desktop-amd64.iso"

Booting a cloned USB drive works [not only in BIOS mode but also] in
UEFI mode in a Dell Latitude E7240 :-)

So I can confirm that the bugfix works also to boot Lubuntu Impish in my
Dell.

[Bug 1940322] Re: autopkgtest test_system_file_used_if_not_expired failing in impish

2021-08-17 Thread William Wilson
The patch Weaken-leap-second-validity-requirement-for-tests.patch
weakens the check for expired leap-second files. However, this causes
test_system_file_used_if_not_expired to not be skipped in some cases
where it should be. The patch attached to this comment re-implements the
stricter check for deciding whether to skip
test_system_file_used_if_not_expired.
