[Bug 1949249] [NEW] zfs send --dedup with HWE kernel modules produces unreceivable stream

2021-10-29 Thread Rich
Public bug reported:

If you do zfs send -D with 0.8.x userland and 2.0.x kernel, it will
actually try to produce a deduplicated send stream (whereas 2.0.x
userland stubs out that flag and prints a "this did nothing, stop trying
to use it" note).

On the system that generated it (20.04 amd64, running 5.11.0-38-generic with
zfs-0.8.3-1ubuntu12.13 zfs-kmod-2.0.2-1ubuntu5.1):
$ dd if=/dev/urandom of=/badidea/1 bs=1M count=16
$ sudo dd if=/dev/urandom of=/badidea/1 bs=1M count=16
$ sudo cp /badidea/1 /badidea/2
$ sudo zfs snap badidea@snap1
$ sudo zfs send -RLeD badidea@snap1 > dedupstream
$ sudo zfs recv badidea/badbadidea < dedupstream
internal error: Unknown error 1037
Aborted

On my Debian 10 testbed running zfs-2.1.99-422_gb0f3f393d (and same for kmod):
cannot receive: stream has unsupported feature, feature flags = 7

This functionality was dropped in commit
196bee4cfd576fb15baa6a64ad6501c594f45497. Since it does all its voodoo
in userland, it can indeed still generate a dedup'd stream.

Might it make sense to at least print a warning if using zfs send
--dedup with 2.0.x, as well as maybe copying the warning that 2.0.x
spits out on attempting to receive such a stream, so people don't
conclude that being unable to receive a send stream they generated means
their system is broken?

cockpit-machines is version 250-1~ubuntu20.04.1 which installs but does not
show any virtual machines.

Please repackage those two to have consistent version numbers.

How to reproduce: # apt info cockpit-\* | egrep 'Package:|Version:'

[Bug 1949245] [NEW] AMD ACP 6.x DMIC Supports

2021-10-29 Thread Alex Hung
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

  AMD's Yellow carp platforms will have an updated ACP IP block (ACP 6.x)
  which will not work with existing ACP drivers.

[Fix]

  Backport the new driver that is now in linux-next (to be in 5.16)

[Test]

  This is requested by AMD.

[Where problems could occur]

  Low risk. This is a stand-alone driver that does not affect others devices
  and platforms.

2021-10-29 Thread kursataker
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS
Release:16.04

I wanted to upgrade from Xubuntu 16.04 to 18.04. I purged all PPAs.

Still kept receiving this message when sudo do-release-upgrade:

...

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

This was likely caused by:
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
Please use the tool 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge
package to remove software from a Launchpad PPA and
try the upgrade again.

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.If
you want to investigate this yourself the log files in
'/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade.
Specifically, look at 'main.log' and 'apt.log'.

[Bug 1949241] [NEW] unattended-upgrades conflicts with kubernetes gracefullshutdown

2021-10-29 Thread Piotr Maksymiuk
Public bug reported:

Kubernetes 1.22 brings GracefullNodeShutdown into beta, by leveraging
systemd-inhibit. It tries to detect the current InhibitDelayMaxSec, and
if it's less than the requested, will place a 99-kubelet.conf in
/etc/systemd/logind.conf.d

However, this doesn't work as systemd-analyze cat-config
systemd/logind.conf would show that
/usr/lib/systemd/logind.conf.d/unattended-upgrades-logind-maxdelay.conf
comes last, and overwrites any requested maxium down to 30 seconds.

This file should either be customizable, or renamed to something like
10-unattended-upgrades-logind-maxdelay.conf so that it would be
evaluated earlier

This is on a cloud image of Ubuntu 21.10

to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
impish to verification-done-impish. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-impish. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at

[Bug 1948587] Re: Not able to upgrade to ubuntu 21.04

[Bug 1948933] Re: [SRU] libreoffice 7.1.7 for hirsute

2021-10-29 Thread Rico Tzschichholz
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

   * LibreOffice 7.1.7 is in its sixth bugfix release of the 7.1 line:
   https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/7.1#7.1.7_release

   * Version 7.1.6 is currently released in hirsute. For a list of fixed bugs
compared to 7.1.6 see the list of bugs fixed in the release candidates of 7.1.7
(that's a total of ?? bugs):
   https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.1.7/RC1#List_of_fixed_bugs
   https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.1.7/RC2#List_of_fixed_bugs

   * Given the nature of the project, the complexity of the codebase and
  the high level of quality assurance upstream, it is preferable to SRU a
  minor release rather than cherry-pick selected bug fixes.

  [Testing]

   * Upstream testing. Bugs fixed upstream typically include
  unit/regression tests, and the release itself is extensively exercised
  (both in an automated manner and manually).

    * A recent set of upstream's automated jenkins testing can be found here:
  https://ci.libreoffice.org/job/gerrit_71/1460/

    * More information about the upstream QA testing can be found here:

  * Feature tests

run and verified as passing.

   * General smoke testing of all the applications in the office suite
  were carried out by going through the manual testplan as documented by:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/libreoffice

  [Regression Potential]

   * A minor release with a total of ?? bug fixes always carries the
  potential for introducing regressions, even though it is a bugfix-only
  release, meaning that no new features were added, and no existing
  features were removed.

   * A combination of autopkgtests and careful smoke testing as described
  above should provide reasonable confidence that no regressions sneaked
  in.

[Bug 1903548] Re: nauty-biplabg gives "sorry, this program doesn't support digraphs yet"

2021-10-29 Thread Doug Torrance
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  Running nauty-biplabg in focal always results in an error. In particular, it
always complains that a digraph has been input even if this is not the case.

  This is due to the following code in nauty:

  int
  main(int argc, char *argv[])
  {
- char *infilename,*outfilename;
- FILE *infile,*outfile;
- boolean badargs,quiet;
-   int j,m,n,argnum;
-   int codetype,outcode;
-   graph *g;
-   nauty_counter nin,nout;
- char *arg,sw;
-   double t;
+ char *infilename,*outfilename;
+ FILE *infile,*outfile;
+ boolean badargs,quiet;
+  int j,m,n,argnum;
+  int codetype,outcode;
+  graph *g;
+  nauty_counter nin,nout;
+ char *arg,sw;
+  double t;

  [...snip...]

- NODIGRAPHSYET(codetype);
+  NODIGRAPHSYET(codetype);

-   if (infilename && infilename[0] == '-') infilename = NULL;
-   infile = opengraphfile(infilename,,FALSE,1);
-   if (!infile) exit(1);
-   if (!infilename) infilename = "stdin";
+  if (infilename && infilename[0] == '-') infilename = NULL;
+  infile = opengraphfile(infilename,,FALSE,1);
+  if (!infile) exit(1);
+  if (!infilename) infilename = "stdin";

  The NODIGRAPHSYET macro is defined in a header file and is responsible
  for our error message:

  #define NODIGRAPHSYET(code) if (((code))) \
-   gt_abort(">E Sorry, this program doesn't support digraphs yet.\n")
+   gt_abort(">E Sorry, this program doesn't support digraphs yet.\n")

  The variable codetype is not initialized until the call to
  opengraphfile, so if we're unlucky, it might find that DIGRAPH6 bit in
  whatever piece of memory it's pointing to at the time.

  This bug results in build failures when building the computer algebra
  software Macaulay2 in focal, as one of its packages calls nauty-biplabg
  when building examples and running tests. See
  https://github.com/Macaulay2/M2/issues/1408.

  This has been fixed in nauty version 2.7 (which is in groovy and hirsute
  already) by moving the call to NODIGRAPHSYET a few lines lower. See the
  attached patch.

  [Test Case]
- (focal-amd64)root@nimmie:~# nauty-biplabg
- >A biplabg
+
+ * Before:
+ $ echo 'ES\o' > foo
+ $ nauty-biplabg -q foo
  >E Sorry, this program doesn't support digraphs yet.
+
+ * After:
+ $ echo 'ES\o' > foo
+ $ nauty-biplabg -q foo
+ EBz_

  [Where problems could occur]
  None known. The attached patch is very small.

[Bug 1948939] Re: chromium browser deb to snap switch kills dist-upgrade

2021-10-29 Thread Robert
Thank you for trying; it's rather puzzling this one. I ran the snap
command on the upgraded machine and got:

robert@samhain:~$ sudo snap install hello-world
[sudo] password for robert:
hello-world 6.4 from Canonical✓ installed
robert@samhain:~$ hello-world
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libgtk3-nocsd.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded
(failed to map segment from shared object): ignored.
Hello World!
robert@samhain:~$

So not entirely smooth, but it looks like the snap store was accessible.

[Bug 1934414] Re: test_bpf.sh from ubuntu_kernel_selftests.net from linux ADT test failure with linux/4.15.0-149.153 i386 (Segmentation fault)

2021-10-29 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Backporting everything necessary would be up to many potential
regressions. That would include support for BPF calls and the change to
make unknown opcode handling more robust.

The former would be commit cc8b0b92a1699bc32f7fec71daa2bfc90de43a4d
"bpf: introduce function calls (function boundaries)", which would open
a big can of worms we don't want to do.

The latter is commit 5e581dad4fec0e6d062740dc35b8dc248b39d224 "bpf: make
unknown opcode handling more robust". Though it might add more
robustness, it changes the table in the interpreter, so I decided not to
backport it now, and fixup the error messages in test_verifier, instead.

By the way, commit 21ccaf21497b72f42133182716a42dbf573d314b "bpf: add
further test cases around div/mod and others" should have been 3, at
least 2, different commits. As it only changes tests, I am find simply
doing a partial backport of it.

I have it ready and tested, will send a patchset to the list.

Cascardo.

[Bug 1948939] Re: chromium browser deb to snap switch kills dist-upgrade

2021-10-29 Thread Olivier Tilloy
> I am now testing this by dist-upgrading a 18.04 VM with
> chromium-browser installed to 20.04.

Well the dist upgrade went well. I didn't get any warnings about
connecting to the snap store. I did get a debconf dialog to warn of the
deb->snap transition as expected, and the one glitch I observed is that
the dialog didn't go away after accepting, until installing the snap was
complete. That's not great UX, but the upgrade process went fine
nevertheless.

[Bug 1896251] Re: rsync --delete-missing-args fails with "error: protocol incompatibility"

2021-10-29 Thread Lena Voytek
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ Rsync crashes when using --delete-missing-args on a file with a missing
+ parent folder.
+
+ Backporting this fix will allow users to delete missing source args when
+ some files in the list have missing parent folders without interruption.
+
+ This is fixed by patching in an upstream commit that allows files with
+ missing parent folders to be handled without aborting.
+
+ [Test Plan]
+
+ # lxc launch images:ubuntu/focal builder
+ # lxc exec builder bash
+ # apt update
+ # apt dist-upgrade
+ # apt install -y rsync
+ # mkdir -p a/1 b/1; echo "/1/2/3" > list
+ # rsync --dry-run --stats -Pav --delete-missing-args --files-from=list a b
+
+ * This should crash with exit code 2 after printing the following:
+
+ building file list ...
+  0 files...
+ file has vanished: "/root/a/1/2"
+ 2 files to consider
+ ABORTING due to invalid path from sender: 1/2/3
+ rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at generator.c(1278)
[generator=3.1.3]
+
+ [Where problems could occur]
+
+ Since the remove operation will now continue when files in the list have
+ missing parent folders, other errors and warnings with different
+ behaviors could arise instead.
+
+ A warning that may arise the most often in these situations is the
+ following:
+
+ warning: some files vanished before they could be transferred (code 24)
+ at main.c(1207) [sender=3.1.3]
+
+ This appears at the end of the above test case with the new code. The
+ behavior is expected, but it may cause regressions due to changes in the
+ output of certain use cases.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
  Running

 rsync --delete-missing-args --files-from=...

  fails with error message like

  ABORTING due to invalid path from sender: dir1/dir2/dir3
  rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at generator.c(1271)
[generator=3.1.2]

  if the listed directories are trying to delete full subtree of files.

  According to https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12569 this has
  been fixed in version 3.2.2.

  See also: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=863334

  Could you update the rsync package or backport the fix?

[Bug 1945707] Re: BCM57800 SRIOV bug causes interfaces to disappear

2021-10-29 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Hey, Andre.

As we talked, this is applied to 5.4 kernels as well, 5.4.0-90 should
have it.

Can you test that it fixes the problem?

Thanks.
Cascardo.

[Bug 1452089] Re: package libnuma1:amd64 2.0.9~rc5-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration

2021-10-29 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Hi, sorry about the huge delay in replying.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

I don't know if you still have access to the machine or can reproduce
the problem, but after looking at the logs I don't see anything that
catches my attention and helps me determine what went wrong. The
package has obviously changed quite a lot since you reported this bug,
but if you can still reproduce it it would be good to have more
information on what exactly you did that led to the errors reported
here. Also, I think it would be interesting to know whether you've
changed any configuration files from numactl.

Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to
differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I
am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would:
provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you
believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your
system, and then change the bug status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

[Bug 1949215] Re: Launching Pitivi repeatedly crashes user session and takes me back to login screen

2021-10-29 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
It seems to also be doing something to my sound. I use a Plantronics
headset (bluetooth, but with a dongle so it looks on the system like an
analogue in and analogue out). When pitivi crashes and logs me out, my
headset no longer works once I log back in. Switching the sound settings
to use the headset input/output again and restarting seems to fix it.
Just adding this in case it helps narrow down the issue.

[Bug 1945741]

2021-10-29 Thread 9-henry
I'm changing the title to distinguish this from bug 1698140 (this is for
PDF attachments that should be opened internally in Thunderbird, and the
other bug is for PDF attachments being treated as a HTML when they are
opened externally).

This title change is a bit verbose, but I couldn't think of a better
one.
