[Bug 1953587] [NEW] Fix sanity checker and cleanup metadata

2021-12-07 Thread Juerg Haefliger
Public bug reported:

The repo contains a checker script check_whence.py that checks WHENCE
data against present firmware files and flags missing files and missing
WHENCE entries. It currently doesn't parse the downstream WHENCE.ubuntu
file. Fix that and cleanup any errors flagged by the checker.

[Bug 1949579] Re: [MIR] postgresql-14

2021-12-07 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Status update:
- Both removals got resolved

- sqlalchemy-i18n still has issues, but seems to be a flaky heisenbug
(any debug I add makes it work fine)

- next to resolve is glom, it still has a dependency to postgresql-13 but it
  FTBFS right now.
In Debian [1] it worked to pick up PG-14, both Distros had just rebuilds [2]
  for quite some time
In sbuild I see crashes like:

PASS: tests/translations_po/test_document_import_po
./test-driver: line 112: 2368870 Aborted (core dumped) "$@" >>
"$log_file" 2>&1
FAIL: tests/python/test_python_execute_func

After that the build hangs, Debian also had some fails in the most
recent build, but no segfaults AFAICS. I need to check if a build on LP
is any different and started a PPA for that.

[Bug 1953586] [NEW] Gnome control center Bluetooth toggle not update immediately when turn off BT

2021-12-07 Thread Andy Chi
Public bug reported:

[Summary]
Bluetooth toggle in gnome-settings-daemon does not turn off when disabling
Bluetooth from top right menu

[Reproduce Steps]
1. Boot to OS and make sure BT enable
2. Turn BT off via Gnome system tray
3. Gnome control center still shows the toggle in the "on" state, but BT
actually disabled

[Bug 1953572] [NEW] Broken links in the View Trends and the View Histogram menu

2021-12-07 Thread Tim Lourey
Public bug reported:

The links for the following are broken in the Service Information or the Host
Information menus for the following links.
View Trends For This Service
View Alert Histogram For This Service
View Trends For This Host

Maybe similar to
https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7=42728
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1428111

the legacy links seem to work (.cgi) if you manually type them in.

[Bug 1871975] Re: network configuration is disabled by default in cloud-init for ubuntu live server beta

2021-12-07 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Yes, I agree with Chad that things are working as designed here: the
live server installs a system as configured during the install and not
one that is expected to be configured in the future using cloud-init.

In general, the concept of an "installer" for VMs is a bit redundant,
the expectation is that you will clone a cloud image to provision a new
VM.

If vsphere needs the concept of an install step to operate nicely, we
should think how we can serve that use case well. It probably won't
involve subiquity well.

[Bug 1938065] Re: systemd 248.3-1ubuntu2 fails to install (when upgrading 21.04->21.10)

2021-12-07 Thread DarkTrick
I set it to new. I had the same problem. I feel this should be
universally solved.

Related question: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1379811/usrmerge-of-
bin-sbin-lib-how-is-the-system-supposed-to-be

Perhaps related bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=945582

- Is `/usr/lib/usrmerge/convert-usrmerge` really the solution users are
supposed to run?
- Some systems have the whole directory /bin linked to /usr/bin, this is not
what convert-usrmerge appears to do. This inconsistence should be explained and
the "right" solution should be announced.

I worked around my failing upgrade via
- edit `/var/lib/dpkg/info/systemd.postinst` by hand
- find the line `systemd-machine-id-setup`
- comment it out
- run `sudo dpkg --configure -a` again

[Bug 1953547] Re: Screen lock doesn't work

2021-12-07 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1953547

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1943816] Re: "ubuntu-drivers install" needs to be used when installing nvidia-driver if enabling "third-party packages"

2021-12-07 Thread Dirk Su
Tested with iso built from live-build and import ubuntu-drivers-common
from focal-proposed. After installation finished, check
/var/log/installer/syslog can see error log as attachment. It says
"ubiquity: chroot: failed to run command ‘prime-select’: No such file or
directory", because 31ubuntu_driver_packages is called by target config
hook which is run before target install stage. Also tested with 21.10
iso file and will got same error message in log.

[Bug 1953524] Re: Upgrade 20.04 to 21.10

2021-12-07 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1953524

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

(are you sure you were upgrading from 20.04 to 21.10? The current procedure
will upgrade you from 20.04 to 21.04 (ie. next supported release) which matches
the package you mention, ie. `npm | 7.5.2+ds-1 | hirsute/universe
 | source, all`)

I've marked this incomplete as no details were provided; you can change
status back to "New" after running apport-collect.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

[Bug 1953560] [NEW] icingaweb2-module-director.service: Failed to determine user credentials: No such process

2021-12-07 Thread Philippe Clérié
Public bug reported:

release: 21.10
version: 1.8.1-1

The systemd service that start the appropriate daemon fails with the
above message. I found the following discrepancies in the package:

- The systemd user defined for this process, *icingadirector*, does not exist.
- The user defined in the package is *_director*.
- Either user should be in group *icingaweb2* to read the configuration
directory.

Work around:

- Change user in systemd unit icingaweb2-module-director.service to *_director*.
- Add user *_director* to group *icingaweb2*.

Best regards
Philippe

[Bug 1863392] Re: marco crashed with SIGSEGV in INT_cairo_region_num_rectangles()

2021-12-07 Thread Bert Driehuis
I also still get the occasional Marco crash with a backtrace pointing to
cairo_region_num_rectangles. If I can do something to assist tracking
this down I'm all ears. I can confirm I'm running Marco built off
sources that contain the fix, i.e. marco 1.24.0-1ubuntu1. My stacktrace
looks identical to the one in comment #8. The SegvAnalysis looks the
same as in the original report.

I cannot tell from my backtrace what the offending code path is:
apply_cairo_region_to_window(), meta_frames_draw() or
cairo_region_to_xserver_region(). I have installed dbgsyms for marco and
libcairo2 and will report back if I can get a handle on the issue.
