[Bug 1939347] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 freeze since kernel 5.11
I'm currently on Kubuntu 21.10 with kernel 5.13.0-22 and I have noticed that no freezes occur when in a Wayland session. I can use my laptop normally, both in battery / charged, connected to an external monitor or not. Running for two days now, with some reboots in between. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939347 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 freeze since kernel 5.11 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1939347/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The mirror (TDS Telecom) you're using does not provide support for jammy (22.04). I'd suggest switching to an official Ubuntu mirror - ie. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors or the main archive. The error message was I felt appropriate, ie. you mentioned "This may be because you have no official mirrors listed in your software sources" I've changed status to 'incomplete'; if you believe I'm in error, please leave a comment and the status can be returned to 'new;. ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955918 Title: Triyng to update to 22.04 fails due to missing 'ubuntu-minimal' package. [Bug 1875163] Re: rdiff-backup crashes when running backup
Had same problem. Got newer rdiff-backup which handles filesystem problem gracefully and then fixed said filesystem problem. I discovered that my root cron backup script which uses rdiff-backup had been failing for months for the same worrysome reason that rdiff-backup had a problem with a directory it was backing up as root. Confirmed running manually: ... File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/rdiff_backup/rpath.py", line 386, in make_file_dict statblock = os.lstat(filename) PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: b'/home/robert/.cache/doc' During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/rdiff-backup", line 32, in rdiff_backup.Main.error_check_Main(sys.argv[1:]) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/rdiff_backup/Main.py", line 390, in error_check_Main .. I could not remove the empty directory as the owner or as root. As a workaround, I got a later version of rdiff-backup which continues "gracefully" after encountering the above problem. sudo apt -y install python3-pip python3-setuptools python3-pylibacl python3-pyxattr rdiff-backup --version sudo apt -y remove rdiff-backup sudo pip3 install rdiff-backup rdiff-backup --version rdiff-backup above is in /usr/local/bin After a few reboots + a manual fsck -V -f on the partition of interest (/home) which found nothing, rdiff-backup ran clean and I was finally able to remove the offending directory. I was expecting fsck to have run on the partition of concern at boot and fixed something but there is no evidence it ran. Only keeps last boot? more /run/initramfs/fsck.log Log of fsck -C -a -T -t ext4 /dev/sdd5 Tue Dec 28 15:30:07 2021 /dev/sdd5: clean, 349494/4276224 files, 5482131/17089536 blocks Tue Dec 28 15:30:07 2021 GUI Disk utility says disk is ok probably via smartmon. The 5.15.11 version seems to include your commit "xhci: Remove CONFIG_USB_DEFAULT_PERSIST to prevent xHCI from runtime suspending", and the (previously) problematic part in drivers/usb/core/hub.h: if (!hub->hdev->parent) /* root hub */ return delay; else /* Wait at least 100 msec for power to become stable */ return max(delay, 100U); So, this could fix the problem, but I guess I have to wait until the Ubuntu version of the 5.4.x kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953223 Title: USB device is not detected during boot, again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1953223/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1955901] [NEW] Romanian Keymap for German Keyboards is still using Cedillas for Romanian Characters instead of Commas
Public bug reported: Description of problem: gnome-keyboard-properties for Romanian language in German keyboards "Romanian (Germany)" and "Romanian (Germany without Accents)" is still using the incorrect characters for ș, ț, Ș and Ț. Instead of a comma underneath the character, they use a cedilla. The Romanian standard keyboard layout does this correctly since 2008 (See Bug #108057) For more precise information as to the why the cedillas are incorrect: http://www.secarica.ro/html/s-uri_si_t-uri.html (in Romanian): Steps to reproduce: 1. Run Ubuntu 21.10 in German Language 2. Klick the Dash Button 3. Type "Einstellungen" to go to Settings and click the icon. 4. Select Tastatur > Eingabequellen 5. Select Layouts 6. Click on "+" to add a new layout 7. Search & Select "Rumänisch (Deutschland)" or "Rumänisch (Deutschland ohne Akzenttasten)" 8. Select "Rumänisch (Deutschland)" or "Rumänisch (Deutschland ohne Akzenttasten)", and move it to the top of the list. 9. Close 10. Start "Textbearbeitung" App or any other text editor or teminal window. 11. Using a German keyboard(physical keyboard), press the key combination ALT+s, ALT+t, SHIFT+ALT+s, SHIFT+ALT+t Actual results: ş, ţ, Ş and Ţ appear with cedillas. [Bug 1946660] Re: Ubuntu port of v4l2loopback doesn't behave the same as official port (v0.12.5)

[Bug 1938964] Re: icmp_redirect from selftests fails on F/kvm (unary operator expected)
** Description changed: + [Impact] + If any sub-test in this icmp_redirect.sh is failing but not expected + to fail. The script will complain: + ./icmp_redirect.sh: line 72: [: 1: unary operator expected + + This is because when the sub-test is not expected to fail, we won't + pass any value for the xfail local variable in log_test() and thus + it's empty. Fix this by passing 0 as the 4th variable to log_test() + for non-xfail cases. + + This issue can be found on our KVM kernel with SRU tests, they're + failing because of missing some kernel configs. + + [Fix] + * 39d8622c72 "selftests: icmp_redirect: pass xfail=0 to log_test()" + + This patch can be cherry-picked into all of the affected kernels. + + [Test Plan] + Run the patched icmp_redirect.sh script with a KVM kernel (e.g. F/kvm), and this "unary operator expected" error message should no longer exist. + + [Where problems could occur] + Change limited to test script, it won't have any impact to real kernel function. And this issue is most likely specific to KVM kernels. + + + == Original Bug Report == icmp_redirect from selftect is failing on F/kvm 5.4.0-1045.47 - # selftests: net: icmp_redirect.sh - # - # ### - # Legacy routing - # ### - # - # TEST: IPv4: redirect exception [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: redirect exception [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv4: redirect exception plus mtu [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: redirect exception plus mtu [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv4: routing reset [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: routing reset [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv4: mtu exception [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: mtu exception [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv4: mtu exception plus redirect [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: mtu exception plus redirect [XFAIL] - # - # ### - # Legacy routing with VRF - # ### - # - # Error: Unknown device type. - # Cannot find device "red" - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # Cannot find device "red" - # Cannot find device "red" - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Not a valid VRF name - # - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # ./icmp_redirect.sh: line 71: [: 1: unary operator expected - # TEST: IPv4: redirect exception [FAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # TEST: IPv6: redirect exception [XFAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # ./icmp_redirect.sh: line 71: [: 1: unary operator expected - # TEST: IPv4: redirect exception plus mtu [FAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # TEST: IPv6: redirect exception plus mtu [XFAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # ./icmp_redirect.sh: line 71: [: 1: unary operator expected - # TEST: IPv4: routing reset [FAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # TEST: IPv6: routing reset [XFAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # ./icmp_redirect.sh: line 71: [: 1: unary operator expected - # TEST: IPv4: mtu exception [FAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # TEST: IPv6: mtu exception [XFAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # ./icmp_redirect.sh: line 71: [: 1: unary operator expected - # TEST: IPv4: mtu exception plus redirect [FAIL] - # Error: argument "red" is wrong: Invalid VRF - # - # TEST: IPv6: mtu exception plus redirect [XFAIL] - # - # ### - # Routing with nexthop objects - # ### - # - # TEST: IPv4: redirect exception [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: redirect exception [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv4: redirect exception plus mtu [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: redirect exception plus mtu [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv4: routing reset [ OK ] - # TEST: IPv6: routing reset
