[Bug 1956117] Re: The fonts-dejavu fonts no longer serve a purpose on a default installation
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one in Debian and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance. N.B. For future reference, Ubuntu packages that aren't directly sync'd from Debian and have Ubuntu-specific changes, have a -XubuntuX suffix (e.g. -0ubuntu1). Packages that lack this suffix, or have a -XbuildX suffix (e.g. -1build2) are directly sync'd from Debian. ** Changed in: fonts-dejavu (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956117 Title: The fonts-dejavu fonts no longer serve a purpose on a default installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-dejavu/+bug/1956117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1956122] [NEW] Horizontal application menu scrolling and placement ruined usability options and intuitive usage
Public bug reported: Previously, vertical scrolling was in place. The benefit was familiarity for people coming from other platforms. The horizontal swipe also is less natural in comparison to up and down for a seek. Using the mouse wheel, you now scroll in the opposite way you see the screen move. [Bug 1956121] [NEW] Default workspace selector is using too much screen real estate
Public bug reported: By being implemented horizontally, the workspace selector is highly inefficient in pixel usage. The default of two is using an incredible amount of real estate given the amount of default applications. If it were vertical and on the right hand side, it would use far less total pixels for the same size viewport. [Bug 1955760] [NEW] Kernel fails to recognize touchpad, also no wifi
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After working perfectly for over a year the touchpad and wifi on my HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2020 (MACHC-WAE9LP) suddenly stopped working (no response at all from touchpad). ``cat proc/version`` gives: Linux version 5.13.0-21-generic (buildd@lgw01-amd64-043) (gcc (Ubuntu 9.3.0-17ubuntu1~20.04) 9.3.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.34) #21-20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 26 15:49:20 UTC 2021 This problem first occured the 6. of December, after not using ubuntu for a couple of days (I have both windows and ubuntu in dual boot). Both the touchpad and wifi works fine in windows. When following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#generalinfo, I found that ``cat /proc/bus/input/devices`` does not include a touchpad. According to the wiki this is because the kernel fails to recognize the touchpad. I also noticed some status messages printed to the screen during booting, which has not been the case before the problem occured. It consists of a lot of these messages: | OK | Started ...some process... | OK | Finished ...some process... And ends with: /dev/nvme0n1p2: clean: 136/38523392 files, 18658438/122878312 blocks I have not done much research on the wifi issue yet. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernel fails to recognize touchpad, also no wifi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955760 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1956029] Re: ufw remains inactive at boot time
Sorted out the issue. I've got systemd to also wait for ufw to load when starting fail2ban. Fail2ban issues a many iptables commands in rapid succession and then it's database of banned IPs is large it takes a considerable amount of time for the firewall to be initialised. In the meanwhile anything issuing iptables commands quite likely fail as is it not possible to have more than one instance of iptables active at any one time. ufw script completes its tasks quickly so makes sense to force that service to start before the fail2ban service. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956029 Title: ufw remains inactive at boot time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ufw/+bug/1956029/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I *have* edited the configuration file, but the "deborphan" default has just caused a lot of damage on multiple systems where I use "upgrade-system" it appears to have overwritten my edited config files during a recent upgrade and, as I reported, "deborphan" removed a large number of packages from five of my servers where I have installed "med-bio" and "med-bio-dev" from the Debian-Med project. I edited the config file after initially running "upgrade-system" precisely because of this. I'm surprised that nobody else has been bitten by this bug! [Bug 1956093] Re: Some Fn+F* and dot keys on keyboard stop working after resume from suspend mode
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1956093/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1824650] Re: Ubuntu freezes when AC 430 WiFi Dongle is plugged in
Hello everyone, I'll add the DMESG file so you can see how the dongle should ideally be loaded. I also saw in the boot log of Windows that the driver fwlanusb6 is addressed, maybe this information is helpful for troubleshooting.. It seems to me that the stick checks if the operating system is Windows. If it is, it grants access to the EEPROM of the stick. If the operating system is not Windows, EEPROM access is denied. This could also explain why it only works for a restart, but not for a "cold start". However, it may just be a guess. ** Attachment added: "dmesg.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1824650/+attachment/5550470/+files/dmesg.txt ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1824650 Title: Ubuntu freezes when AC 430 WiFi Dongle is plugged in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1824650/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1907881] Re: cpuset package missing dependency in focal
Thanks for reporting. I found a corresponding bug report in Debian, and the extra dependency has been added in the version available in Ubuntu 21.04, so newer releases are fixed at least. However, 20.04 is still affected, so I'll try to prepare a debdeff for a Stable Release Update. (From my testing 18.04 was not affected. Presumably this uses an older version before cpuset started using python3-future) As a workaround in the meantime, manually install python3-future. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #981227 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=981227 ** Also affects: cpuset (Debian) via https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=981227 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1907881 Title: cpuset package missing dependency in focal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpuset/+bug/1907881/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1956090] [NEW] Not possible to choose which admin should enter password
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Environment Ubuntu 20.04 fully upgraded. Pretty low likelihood but if a system has more than one admin, when a user (admin or not) needs to perform an action that require administration permission a pop up cames on and require a password for a specific admin user, usually the first historically created, and it's not possible to choose another admin, a couple of examples. 1 - I would like to create a new admin and get rid of the old one, see attachment I downloaded a pre-cooked ubuntu version to test it - as osboxes.org I created user Luca (admin) - logout and login as Luca - open settings and get rid of osboxes.org Expected: the window should ask password for my user, since I'm admin, or should let me choose which admin should enter the password to confirm Actual: the window ask me for osboxes.org password, no chance to change user 2 - Use case see in office - A computer has 1 normal account and 2 admins account This person have not admin priviledges so that to make some actions is require to enter admin password. Two admins are me (Luca) and an other one (Ale) Sometimes happens that if system ask for a specific user, and user is not in the office is not possible to proceed this way. Of course no issue in acting via command line for every action, but it's a bad UX and somtimes could happen in a worst situation. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: administrator gnome password settings ux -- Not possible to choose which admin should enter password https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956090 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
