It doesn't scroll to the folder the first time I hit the letter, so I
don't see which folder got selected.

When I hit the letter a second time, it scrolls the view, but also jumps
to the second candidate for this letter.

This is a minor glitch, but it's kinda annoying...

But since I didn't sasy it for a far too long time: Using Dolphin is a
great experience! Thank you very much for writing it!

using r902024, I've found two different behaviour:

1) if one icon is already selected and you type the first chars of an
icon which is outside the current view, dolphin select the new icon and
it scrolls to the right icon.

2) if no icon are selected, the new icon is selected, but dolphin
doesn't scroll.

I tried to reproduce it in the icons view and the details view, no item
has been selected and I pressed a letter from an invisible item. Could
you give me a hint what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

I'm using r905373 with Qt 4.4.3.

1) start dolphin (when you start it, it should be selected any file)
2) switch to icon view (if not yet active)
3) resize the window in order to have the vertical scrollbar
4) click between two icons to be sure that no file are selected
5) click on the small green "+" on the first file (so you've only one file
selected)
6) type the first char of a hidden icon

If the first char identify univocally a file, the file will selected
(you can read it on the status bar) but the view doesn't scroll. If the
first char is shared by more filenames, pressing twice it will select
the second file (of all the files which starts with it) and the view
will be scrolled.

SVN commit 906179 by ppenz:

QAbstractItemView::scrollTo() may get called by
QListView::keyPressEvent(), so m_enableScrollTo (which is checked in
DolphinIconsView::scrollTo()) must be enabled before. This fixes the
issue that the autoscrolling does not work if exactly one item is
selected and an invisible item should get focused because of a key
press.

[Bug 1956401] Re: amdgpu hangs for 90 seconds at a time in 5.13.0-23, but 5.13.0-22 works

2022-01-07 Thread Alex.Nedel
@Dietmar (smiddy67): I also get some form of breakage:

No video after leaving the PC unused overnight:
with monitor turned on, got blank screen with backlighting visible in the
morning.
I rebooted to get it working, the reboot was fast and OK.

But I'm NOT sure that standby worked for me in 5.13.0-22.
I remember a similar problem with 5.13.0-22 after suspend.

So the specific problem that I had with 5.13.0-23.23 seems fixed in
5.13.0-24.

Thank you all!

[Bug 935713] Re: Can no longer drop tabs onto tabs area in Chromium

2022-01-07 Thread Stuart Denyer
Same issues as drexlock and mmichalowicz. Started a day or two ago.

Kubuntu 21.10
Chrome Version 97.0.4692.71 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Kernel 5.13.0-23-generic
Intel i5-3470T and onboard graphics on a ThinkCentre M92p using X.org

I've just tried installing the latest Chrome build (same version as
above) on a current Kubuntu LiveCD session in VirtualBox, and the same
with a Mint Xfce 20.2 ISO I'd previously downloaded and an ISO of Fedora
from early 2021. Dragging tabs to reorder them worked in the Xfce and
Gnome sessions. If it's something to do with a recent Plasma component
update that's probably got more chance of being fixed quickly than if
it's purely a Chrome bug.

[Bug 1947697] Re: no longer works after upgrade to 21.10 (raspberry pi 4)

2022-01-07 Thread Robert E. Novak
This also worked for me. I placed an automatic apt install as part of
my github repository for the systemd-zram script for installation. It
took me a long time to find this solution. I hope that any other
repositories that install zram will take heed of this.

I have found that this makes Ubuntu practical for running on a Raspberry
Pi 4 with 8 GB or RAM. It prevents hanging when running a large number
of processes or having many open tabs in a browser. I now have 2 of my
3 PI4s with 8GB running Ubuntu 21.10. For inexplicable reasons
(firmware) the first PI 4 with 8GB will run Ubuntu 20.10, but will not
successfully upgrade or boot after a fresh install of the 21.04 or 21.10
OS. Any suggestions welcome (Yes, I need to post this as a separate
question).

[Bug 1956390] Re: User profile picture color not selected until you unlock and click on the letter.

2022-01-07 Thread wontfix
Steps to reproduce

1. Install Ubuntu
2. Notice blank colorless human outline on first login profile and privilege
elevation GUI textboxes.
3. Go to settings.
4. Click Users.
5. Click icon next to username but don't click on any profile picture or even
the letter with color itself.
6. Go back to login through lock or other method. Also look at the icon in
privilege elevation popup. It is now colored with the first letter of your
username.

SRU Justification

Impact:
   The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar

   a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
   stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

[Bug 1956769] Re: Add full test-suite run to autopkgtests

2022-01-07 Thread Dave Jones
Aha, autopkgtest was building the source package before running the
tests, hence why automake was "leaking" into the env. However, the tests
require a configured source tree, and it seems the simplest way to
achieve that "properly" is to add the build-needed restriction (and
duplicate much of Build-Depends to the test Depends as this isn't
guaranteed).

Attaching a revised patch.

[Bug 1935665] Re: open-vm-tools builds without fuse support when built with libfuse3-dev

2022-01-07 Thread John Wolfe
Hi Christen,

> $ modinfo fuse3

> So that should not change.

Thanks for catching that error in the open-vm-tools-desktop.postinst
file.

> Furthermore in all situations where configure can auto-detect one or
the other it is wise to hard-select the one you want, so in the config
stage I added --with-fuse=fuse3.

I agree. Auto-defect is fine for experimentation at the configure
level, selecting the specific configuration is necessary to coordinate
with the packaging.

Thanks.

[Bug 1956793] [NEW] linux-azure-cvm: Avoid leaking guest memory when communicating with the host

2022-01-07 Thread Marcelo Cerri
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

Initialize memory of request offers message to be sent to the host so
padding or uninitialized fields do not leak guest memory contents.

Patch:

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/hyperv/linux.git/commit/?h=hyperv-
next

[Test case]

Testing the information leakage to the host is not viable, but since the
patch the vmbus layer that affects all the hyper-v drivers, a boot test
on Hyper-V and on Azure should be enough to validate the patch,
considering how small the change is.

[Potential regression]

The change is very restricted, but on an eventual regression it might
affect any of the hyperv guest drivers.

I set up samba inside a Focal container here, created a test share and
also added your configuration excerpt to smb.conf. After restarting the
service, I can see the error message being generated inside one of the
log files (under /var/log/samba/):

(Bear in mind that this is a list of the messages the were generated
after I restarted the service many times; that's why you see so many).

As you can verify, the behaviour doesn't seem to have changed with
unknown opnames. Maybe you were looking in the wrong log file?

[Bug 1956642] Re: convert crash during operation leaving partial output file

2022-01-07 Thread Bob Friesenhahn
FYI, the software you are using is ImageMagick and not GraphicsMagick,
yet you filed the bug against GraphicsMagick.

You are likely running into a configured resources limit, which is much
lower than what the system can handle, and in my opinion defaulted (by
Debian/Ubuntu) to quite low limits. Limits can be adjusted by the user.
Use 'convert -list resource' to see the current resource limits like:

```
% convert -list resource
Resource limits:
  Width: 16KP
  Height: 16KP
  List length: 18.446744EP
  Area: 128MP
  Memory: 256MiB
  Map: 512MiB
  Disk: 1GiB
  File: 768
  Thread: 8
  Throttle: 0
  Time: unlimited
Also, "lslocks" on the server shows no locks associated with lockd,
though there are locks associated with nfsd. (nfsd would be locks from
this was apparently
[committed](https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/2027)
Re: [Bug 1955347] Re: rsync works bad with encfs now
2022-01-07 Thread Micouin Claude
Hi Christian and thank you for answer.
As you said --ignore-errors could work, but il would be very very
dangerous.
I had tried  --exclude=PATTERN (more precisely
--filter "- /home/claude/Documents_chiffres/") and it seemed to work
better because there's not more the "IO error encountered -- skipping
file deletion" error.
rsync did not save the virtual directory corresponding to the encrypted
directory but that's no matter because the user's script does it.
It could be good BUT because of the --delete-excluded option,
rsync deletes the backup of the existing virtual directory
corresponding to the encrypted directory.
I've found a way modifying my backup's script : first it moves the
backup of the virtual directory to a safe place before rsync acts and
after it moves it back to the previous place.
It works but it could be better I think.
Best regards.
Claude MICOUIN
[Bug 1956787] [NEW] nfs v3 locking fails
2022-01-07 Thread Charles Hedrick
Public bug reported:
We just upgraded our nfs servers from 5.4.0-72 to 5.4.0-92.
We are using NFS v3 in a large computer science department, with several
hundred clients.
Lots of applications are now failing because locks don't work.
/var/log/syslog on the client reports lockd not responding. tcpdump
shows that the client tries to connect to lockd but there is no response
to the TCP SYN.
netstat on the server shows some connections open, with lots of bytes in
the receive queue.
The problem probably occurs only with lots of clients. I believe any
typical test would work fine.
The problem is new. That is, it didn't happen in 5.4.0-72.
[Bug 1956212] Re: No Diodon applet in the Notification Zone
2022-01-07 Thread Oliver Sauder
Diodon uses Ayantana Indicators
https://github.com/AyatanaIndicators/libayatana-appindicator. I've never
had to debug indicators as it always worked so not sure how to go about
this.
This said it seems Mate makes some configuration changes in terms of
indicator. I have found this https://github.com/ubuntu-mate/ubuntu-mate-
settings/blob/master/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/30_ubuntu-
mate.gschema.override#L46
Maybe comparing those settings between the two MATE desktop you have
might reveal where the problem is.
[Bug 1812892] Re: Use high ram memory by the gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect
2022-01-07 Thread Erich Eickmeyer 
If that's the case, let's target to series since the issue is not likely
to be fixed in non-LTS releases and, by default, the current development
version is what the bug is about. However, I'm not sure it's been
verified in Jammy, and haven't experienced it myself. Therefore, we're
confirming this for Focal, still New for Jammy, and we won't fix for
Hirsute since it reaches EOL at the end of this month, and this type of
thing isn't likely to make it in Impish since that's not an LTS.
Additionally, I can probably update to the latest version for Jammy for
compatibility reasons, but it's not likely to get an SRU.
Argh, there's always something I forget ... update-maintainer in this
case. I'll give the autopkgtest a whirl under lxd, it worked for me
locally under a jammy schroot though so I'm a bit confused that it's
failing for you.
[Bug 1956771] Re: zfs dataset mountpoints moved to /var/lib/snapd/hostfs
2022-01-07 Thread Kai Groner
I initially thought this was a snapd issue (hey, snapd stole my zfs
mounts!), but I think those are supposed to be bind mounts.
I also looked at the zfsutils-linux changelog and recent patches but
didn't see anything that seemed suspicious to me.
[Bug 1956780] [NEW] 5.15 stuck at boot on c4.large
2022-01-07 Thread Andrea Righi
Public bug reported:
[Impact]
c4.large instances are stuck at boot with kernel 5.15.0-15.15.
[Test case]
Simply deploy a c4.large instance and install the latest jammy kernel
(5.15.0-15.15).
[Fix]
It looks like the offending commit is the following:
 02c70033b98b ("PCI/MSI: Mask MSI-X vectors only on success")
Reverting the commit fixes the problem.
[Regression potential]
It looks like the commit was fixing a potential breakage with broken
Marvell NVME devices, so we may see crashes in presence of these
devices. However, reverting the commit we are simply restoring the
previous behavior, so potential regressions should be limited to these
broken devices.
[Bug 1956771] Re: zfs dataset mountpoints moved to /var/lib/snapd/hostfs
2022-01-07 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.  It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general.  It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it.  You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.
To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1956771/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.
[This is an automated message.  I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
