[Bug 1960291] [NEW] 8.0.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.3 Breaks SSL Connectivity to MySQL < 5.7

2022-02-07 Thread Daniel Morante
Public bug reported:

The MySQL client packages were automatically upgraded from
`8.0.27-0ubuntu0.20.04.1` to `8.0.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.3`.

```
Start-Date: 2022-02-05  06:00:06
Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade
Upgrade: libmysqlclient-dev:amd64 (8.0.27-0ubuntu0.20.04.1,
8.0.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.3), libmysqlclient21:amd64 (8.0.27-0ubuntu0.20.04.1,
8.0.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.3)
End-Date: 2022-02-05  06:00:08
```

This broke the workaround that is currently in place as suggested by
comment #36 and #37 on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1872541

```
The impact was significant (in my case), in that it prevented Postfix
from processing mail, causing all sorts of grief.
```
Feb  8 06:32:35 mail.outbound.redacted.tld postfix/smtpd[1911139]: warning:
connect to mysql server database.server.internal.tld: SSL connection error:
error:1425F102:SSL routines:ssl_choose_client_version:unsupported protocol
```
I had to locate, download, and install the older packages from
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-
proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/22330183
There is a plan to upgrade MySQL/AWS RDS to a newer version but this was
an unexpected change for an LTS version of the OS.  Is the workaround
mentioned no longer feasible?
[Bug 1940545] Re: Update Mesa to mesa-21.1.7 on Ubuntu 20.04
2022-02-07 Thread Maniraj D
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1956915 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956915
Hi Timo,
From https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1956915, I
understood that Mesa 21.2.6 is backported to ubuntu0.1~20.04.1 and that
is currently under 'focal-proposed', when we can expect that to be part
of 'focal-updates' ?
I tried upgrading it with "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/display
&& sudo apt upgrade" for now as mentioned in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1956915. But the
mesa package is not upgraded in my system.
[Bug 1960254] Re: [Intel Nuc] Realtek ALC700 S/PDIF audio output not found
2022-02-07 Thread Sami Siltala
** Summary changed:
- Intel Nuc Realtek SLC700 S/PDIF audio output not found
+ [Intel Nuc] Realtek ALC700 S/PDIF audio output not found
** Description changed:
  I have installed Ubuntu 21.10 on my Intel NUC8I7HVK.
  I can't figure out how to configure my SPDIF to connect to my speaker
  system. I have the correct mini-Toslink to standard cable and I can see
  the laser light coming from the PC, so it is not likely a hardware
  problem.
- The NUC audio is Realtek SLC700.
+ The NUC audio is Realtek ALC700.
  Can anyone help me properly configure my audio to recognize my SPDIF
  digital output and support the 5.1 Dolby surround?
  -
  In pavucontrol i don't see any SPDIF output, headphones work fine.
[Bug 1951683] Re: Freeze
2022-02-07 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can't see any crashes around the time before 12:50:17 but also if
you're using LXQt then I wouldn't know what programs to look for...
I suggest repeating the steps in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment
in case the freeze is caused by something crashing. Failing that, please
attach more syslogs from future crashes in case the cause of the issue
becomes clearer.
[Bug 1806396] Re: lis3lv02d: unknown sensor type 0x0 in HP x360 machines
2022-02-07 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks.
Yes it sounds like you had an old proposed kernel, in between the
current 'updates' and 'proposed' versions. But no matter, if the bug is
fixed in "5.13.0-28-generic #31" then great!
I am on the proposed-channel. I don't know how I got that version but I
switched to "normal". Output of uname -a
... 5.13.0-28-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP ...
Seems to be the one you mentioned.
[Bug 1960287] [NEW] Blutooth mouse loses connection with the 1022 several times after login, not with the 1005.
2022-02-07 Thread Manfred Hoffmann
Public bug reported:
To be more precise, after logging in I normally press a button on the
mouse, then the Blutooth icon shows me the connection as active in the
bar. After 5-10 seconds it is gone again. The mouse no longer reacts. It
takes about 20 seconds, then I have a connection again for about 5-10
seconds.
The whole thing happens 2-4 times. After that it remains stable.
I will set the timeout to 0.
I did not notice this under 1005
[Bug 1951683] Re: Freeze
2022-02-07 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks again.
The log file in comment #9 appears to be older than where the log in
comment #6 ended. So comment #9 is from the wrong boot. Try using a
different number in the journalctl command.
Also _usr_bin_qlipper.1000.crash is probably not relevant here. We're
only interested in gnome-shell or Xorg crashes really.
Thanks. Please attach the full system log of the freeze, not truncated.
If it's the previous boot then:
  journalctl -b-1 > syslog.txt
or if it was the boot before that then:
  journalctl -b-2 > syslog.txt
Please also check for crashes by following these instructions:
[Bug 1806396] Re: lis3lv02d: unknown sensor type 0x0 in HP x360 machines
2022-02-07 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Interesting because I thought you were using Ubuntu 21.10 but that's not
a listed kernel version for 21.10:
  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/impish/+source/linux
If you can verify the fix is in a version that's in Ubuntu then we can
mark the bug as fixed.
[Bug 1960094] Re: lxc/1:4.0.6-0ubuntu1~20.04.1 undefined symbol: strlcat in Focal
2022-02-07 Thread Stéphane Graber
I think the strlcat thing is a red herring or an indication that the
test environment is somehow in a bad shape. This could be explained if
there was two versions of liblxc on the system for example.
Outside of that, I'm also seeing:
```
  lxc-start tmp.KEpxw2rh0e 20220205081512.354 ERRORutils -
utils.c:__safe_mount_beneath_at:1106 - Function not implemented - Failed to
open 30(full)
```
Which isn't a test issue but an actual failure. It could once again come
from a bad test environment with mismatching library/binary somehow, but
if the test environment isn't the issue, then you have a kernel
regression on your hands as that's not one of those transient test
failures.
[Bug 1944018] Re: ath11k_pci sometimes crashes on suspend/resume on Dell XPS 13 9310
2022-02-07 Thread Nigini
Matt, double-thank you for pointing out the OEM kernel versioning system
I had no idea existed. Plus, I have been testing the C kernel for two
weeks now and had no issues with the WIFI waking up.
(I had, though, an issue with the Bluetooth not reconnecting my devices
correctly a couple of times -- a different issue that may be related to
the current patch(?) -- but it can be solved with turning BT off and on
again.)
Noah,
I'm not completely opposed to that but I would rather not. Which
projects are affected? Can we put some pressure on them to rebuild?
It'll be well over 6 months from this becoming an issue to the release
release of whatever electron series a project uses...
[Bug 1959683] Re: Please remove pike8.0 from jammy
2022-02-07 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:
  pike8.0 appears to have no reverse dependencies in Ubuntu.
  It has been unbuildable in Debian for 5 months and was removed from
- unstable there. We'd have to tinker with the package's autoconf build
+ Testing there. We'd have to tinker with the package's autoconf build
  system to get it building again.
[Bug 1953671] Re: 5.15 and 5.16 arm64 kernels fail to boot in VMWare Fusion
2022-02-07 Thread Anders Östling
Any news on this one? I can boot the Ubuntu Jammy desktop using acpi=force and
install the desktop.
However, on subsequent boots it hangs with the same error in spite of the
changed grub config.
Also, shutdown does not work at all. Ubuntu just hangs silently.
This is on VMware Fusion (latest tech preview) on a Mac Mini 2020 M1.
[Bug 1956849] Re: Almost all USB ports suddenly stopped working; unbootable
2022-02-07 Thread Peter Maffter
I am experiencing the same problem with a brandnew brother DS-740D scanner,
when connecting the scanner to a USB3.0 port on a MSI GE63 7RD laptop
with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, mouse and keyboard connected to USB are dead afterwards.
touchpad and keyboard directly on the machine are still working.
On Win10 the scanner works.
So having a brandnew scanner and not getting it to work because of Ubuntu is
quite a new experience.
+ [Where problems could occur]
+
+ The upstream fix is quite straightforward but if a problem would occur
+ Since keepalived is widely used in HA, this might be reflected in some
+ specific setups using keepalived.
  The upstream has already fixed in a patch release 2.0.20
as far as I can see `fish_add_path` is still called from
data/env/snapd.fish on master (see
https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/master/data/env/snapd.fish.in#L3
for reference) and the mentioned bug and corresponding PR/fix only
affect the setting of XDG_DATA_DIRS and not the invalid call to this
non-existent function on fish <3.2
