I don't know what is so special about our corporate DNS. Since I could validate the fix on my side, will this land in an official jammy package update before the official release of jammy in april ? [Bug 1965521] Re: named.service starts too early: Unable to fetch DNSKEY set '.': failure
I discovered that above workaround isn't ideal when the server has multiple network interfaces because the systemd-networkd-wait-online command above will wait for all interfaces to reach routable status. This may cause systemd-networkd-wait-online to timeout (after 10 seconds as per --timeout argument), and if you then run "systemctl status named.service", it shows a failed status for the ExecStartPre command, which isn't ideal. I experimented with including "--any" in the systemd-networkd-wait- online arguments, but found this wasn't 100% reliable and TBH I'm not entirely sure why. But for now I've resorted to including the interface name in the above command instead, such as: ExecStartPre=-/lib/systemd/systemd-networkd-wait-online --interface=eno1:routable --timeout=10 --quiet Obviously the interface name is machine-specific, which makes it impractical to include this command as a general purpose fix in the repo version of named.service. So I've now come to the conclusion that the best way to fix this issue is to implement a change to BIND itself (i.e. /usr/sbin/named), to make it retry a few times before logging the error message above? (FYI This is outside of the realm of my skill set so I guess I'm asking for the maintainer of BIND to determine the feasibility of this request?) [Bug 1965601] [NEW] livefs build of ubuntukylin is not possible
Public bug reported: livefs builds of Ubuntu Kylin have been failing since 2022-03-02. Here's one build log: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/591375839/buildlog_ubuntu_jammy_amd64_ubuntukylin_BUILDING.txt.gz The relevant portion can be seen here: The following packages have unmet dependencies: ukui-settings-daemon : Conflicts: kylin-display-switch but 3.0.14-1 is to be installed ukui-settings-daemon added a conflict to kylin-display-switch but there are additional changes that need to be made. kylin-display-switch needs to be removed from the seed (I did that). https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntukylin-members/ubuntu- seeds/+git/ubuntukylin/commit/?id=ae5104b98bc9da94e9ce507ab5d85a5d14021c84 Then other items which depend on kylin-display-switch need to have those dependencies dropped. A cursory inspection indicates that the following binary packages also need fixing: ubuntukylin-desktop ukui-desktop-environment Until these issues are addressed the daily builds will continue to fail and subsequently UbuntuKylin is untestable. ** Affects: ubuntukylin-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntukylin-meta (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => ubuntu-22.04-beta -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1965601 Title: livefs build of ubuntukylin is not possible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntukylin-meta/+bug/1965601/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1892369] Re: Impossible to skip integrity test for ubuntu-server 20.04.1 iso
Issues reproducible with ubuntu-20.04.4-live-server-amd64.iso. Apparently, ctrl-c does not stop the integrity check anymore because casper-md5check runs as systemd service/disconnected from plymouth. Per [1], iiuic. -- Well, this is _not_ a bug. So, fsck.mode=skip is the only option available. However, there's a bug in casper-md5check that ignores that _if_ it is the last option in /proc/cmdline (likely, if the user adds it after '---' or deletes '---' to insert it.) Workaround: make sure to add fsck.mode=skip before '---'. Patch proposed [2], with technical details and testing. You can find it here: https://launchpad.net/~sergiodj/+archive/ubuntu/bind9-lp1964686 Let me know if this solves the problem for you. Although it would be nice to be able to reproduce this locally, I will rely on your test results to move forward with an MP for this bug (which also seems to fix https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9/+bug/1964400, btw). [Bug 1964400] Re: host crashes with SIGABRT in isc_assertion_failed()
Upstream has merged the fix for this bug: https://gitlab.isc.org/isc- projects/bind9/-/commit/da0d85d7483437e110111025399ec7fc9bf6ff30 I've been trying to reproduce it using a Jammy container, but so far I haven't been able to. I'm running the "host -v" command in a loop, but it never seems to crash. Anyway, I've talked to Athos and reassigned the bug to myself. I will prepare an MP for it soon, but I'd like to be able to reproduce the bug first. I will keep investigating here. ** Changed in: bind9 (Ubuntu) Assignee: Athos Ribeiro (athos-ribeiro) => Sergio Durigan Junior (sergiodj) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1964400 Title: host crashes with SIGABRT in isc_assertion_failed() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9/+bug/1964400/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1965562] Re: Bad password when unlocking disk (cryptsetup failed)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1965562/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1965535] Re: Stop recommending snap
It's also worth pointing out how snap does not offer feature parity. VA- API and native-component extensions are broken to this day with Chromium snap, for four years now. The latter meaning that entire countries can not use chromium snap if they wish to use their national authentication and signature system on the web. [Bug 1964636] Re: Incorrect handling of apparmor `bpf` capability
@maciek-borzecki the parser can change its behavior based on a few things. 1. the kernel its built against. This would not change behavior when run in a container vs at system level. 2. If a feature-file is specified, via --features-file, --policy- features, or --kernel-features. This allows overriding the normal policy and kernel examination that the parser does when compiling policy. 3. If /sys/kernel/security/apparmor/features is not available. The parser will fallback to an old set of features available in a kernel before the kernel module started exporting what the kernel module supports on the running kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1964636 Title: Incorrect handling of apparmor `bpf` capability To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1964636/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1965535] Re: Stop recommending snap
+1 For the record, Snap being forced upon users for critical packages is the primary reason why I recently dropped Ubuntu and stopped recommending the distro to others, after using it for over 15 years. Container-based packaging has its place. Snap has some interesting features compared to FlatPak and AppImage. However, none of them are suitable replacements for deb & apt, and this is really driven home when they're used for core packages like the web browser. Snap in particular has multiple fundamental design and implementation problems that make it intolerable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1965535 Title: Stop recommending snap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/1965535/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1964636] Re: Incorrect handling of apparmor `bpf` capability
The warning message: """ Warning from stdin (line 1): apparmor_parser: Warning capping number of jobs to 0 * # of cpus == '16' """ Is caused by a LXCFS bug which we've since fixed. Systems still showing this message are in need of a snap refresh and host reboot. It's quite likely that the warning is somehow causing apparmor_parser to exit non-zero which would be the core of the issue here.

[Bug 1964442] Re: [jammy Regression] signing a changes file in gnome-terminal sends keys to the terminal
I experienced a similar issue today. I ran `snap install app` in my terminal. It popped up a PolicyKit login window and my terminal started filling with empty input lines. Around the same time, I had this in my journal log repeatedly: gnome-shell: Object 0x5614373df110 of type IBusText has been finalized while it was still owned by gjs, this is due to invalid memory management. Therefore, I'm reassigning to gnome-shell and ibus. I don't think this issue is specific to gnome-terminal. You might eventually see it with a different terminal. I am using the default Ubuntu session on Wayland. ** Package changed: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Also affects: ibus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1964442 Title: [jammy Regression] signing a changes file in gnome-terminal sends keys to the terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1964442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
