[Bug 1967843] Re: cheese display corrupted under Ubuntu 22.04

2022-04-26 Thread Matthew Ruffell
I built the patch Jan provided into a test package, available in the
below ppa:

https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/lp1967843-test

When I install it, the testcase is fixed, shown in the attachment, and
cheese works as normal.

Jeremy, shall we submit the patch to Debian, and SRU to Ubuntu? It seems
the upstream clutter-gst project is now archived and not accepting new
patches.

** Also affects: clutter-gst-3.0 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1967843] Re: cheese display corrupted under Ubuntu 22.04

2022-04-26 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Jan also added a testcase to the upstream bug, that calls clutter-gst
directly and does not require cheese:

$ gst-launch-1.0 videotestsrc ! jpegenc ! jpegdec ! clutterautovideosink

Attached is a picture running the testcase with clutter-gst-3.0
3.0.27-2build2, showing distorted picture.

[Bug 1964527] Re: Enable CONFIG_UNICODE for linux-gcp

2022-04-26 Thread Khaled El Mously
The change for this bug has been committed to the gcp kernel. The next
focal/linux-gcp kernel release (5.4.0-1073 or later) should contain the
updated configuration. The bionic/linux-gcp-5.4 kernel will receive the
update as well.

Thanks for reporting the issue, @lhaley, and thanks for your patience!

Interesting your system appears to use 'amdgpu' (from bug 1969351). I

[Bug 1970043] Re: [amdgpu] freeze occurs when wayland is connected to a second monitor

Thanks, though you don't need the evdi driver if there is no
dock/adapter box. A monitor connected directly to a USB-C port is just a
native DisplayPort connection.

2022-04-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. It looks like a problem with errors.ubuntu.com itself, which is
not uncommon. The crash report exists but it failed to get a stack trace
and so errors.ubuntu.com can't categorise/group the crash reports.

This bug is still open at least, but it does mean we don't get a feel
for how common the crash is. It looks like it may only happen at logout
or during monitor config rearrangement.

Pradeep, if you are experiencing a similar bug with a different root

you open a new bug of your own by running:

  ubuntu-bug gnome-shell

thank you for this feedback. So it's just that Tuxedo does not provide non-lts

upstream. I would keep this ticket open until I was able to try an upgrade with

[Bug 1970520] [NEW] [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH, playback] Auto-Mute Status keeps Changing on Cirrus Logic CS4213 Chip

2022-04-26 Thread Sachin Arun Borkar
Public bug reported:

I am using Dell Inspiron 3520. It having Cirrus Logic CS4213 as chip.
Problems I face:

Whenever I connect headphones, sound comes from both speaker/headphones.
I have to change Auto-Mute status every time when I connect headphones.
It automatically changes it's status from Enable to disable after headphone
disconnect.

What I tried Yet:

I changed file /var/lib/alsa/asound.state Auto_Mute state "Enable" from that
was "disable" before.
But still facing same issue.

[Bug 1958267] Re: "Connection failed" for WPA Enterprise network (e.g. eduroam)

2022-04-26 Thread Victor Hugo Schulz
I was also affected by this issue when updating from 21.10 to 22.04, not on
eduroam but on my university's network.
Workaround from post #22 worked for me, but I simply modified the original file
(/etc/ssl/openssl.cnf).
After reading other comments, I got confused. Is this a bug on Ubuntu's
wpasupplicant or a problem with the university's infrastructure using old
vulnerable authentication methods?
If the latter, how should I report it to university's sysadmin?

1) yes, ISO was mounted for sure, this issue can be reproducible 100%
2) NFS mount via the XCC be OK, as we tested.

[Bug 1970408] Re: brltty package disconnecting ttyUSB0 used for Arduino

2022-04-26 Thread Batwam
that's a nice workaround. I still think that there is something odd
going on with the brltty package though as it shouldn't be disconnecting
connections like this.

to Comment 19: please see the pic just attached, the issue we encountered using

connecting...
waiting for cloud-init...
An error occurred. Press enter to start a shell

[Bug 1970072] Re: Frequent GPU Resets (and GUI Freeze) by gsd-media-keys

2022-04-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the attachments. It looks like the Nvidia kernel driver
encountered problems, which then caused problems in the Nvidia Xorg
driver, and then Xorg crashed.

I would suggest the first thing to do is to remove the kernel parameter
'nvidia-drm.modeset=1' because that wasn't a mature supported option
back in Ubuntu 20.04 (but it is in 22.04).

[Bug 1970292] Re: ubuntu failed upgrade from 21.10 to 22.04

2022-04-26 Thread James Cobban
Thank you. I do not know which exact mirror my system used because
"Software & Updates" merely identified it as in Canada. When I google
"how do i tell which mirror is used" all I get back is how to get the
fastest mirror. If I have a problem with a mirror how do I know WHICH
mirror I had a problem with? Why is there no message as part of the
output of do-release-upgrade which identifies the mirror, especially
when reporting that there is a problem communicating with the mirror?

The error message: Connection timed out [IP: 91.189.91.38 80]
nslookup 91.189.91.38
38.91.189.91.in-addr.arpa name = banjo.canonical.com.

I am puzzled because that is not a Canadian address, yet I specifically
requested a Canadian mirror.

If I can identify the mirror how do I determine to whom I should
communicate the fact that I had a problem?

As soon as I selected the "Main mirror" "Software & Updates" detected
that the system was out of date and refreshed, and apt required that I
update and upgrade my software. It is entirely reasonable that some
mirrors are not up to the very latest levels right now as demand will be
low until the automatic upgrade is enable. My main interest in
installing 22.04 on this one of my three computers is that it is a
recent laptop from System 76 and therefore has some unique hardware and
microcode requirements including very recent drivers which required that
I upgrade to 21.10. My other computers were all still on 20.04 and can
therefore wait until the dot release comes out.

Yes, managing the configurations for the huge variety of cryptography
toolkits on a Linux system is definitely something of a chore. It would
be nice to give people one command they could use to return to unsafe-
but-compatible cryptography -- or enforce only modern cryptography.

Our friends at Red Hat have prepared https://gitlab.com/redhat-
crypto/fedora-crypto-policies -- while a version of this is packaged:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/crypto-policies -- I don't believe
it actually works on Ubuntu:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/crypto-policies/+bug/1926664

Maybe someday.

Thanks

You might be commenting on the wrong bug now. We're still getting zero

Can you provide a stack trace of the most recent crash and confirm that

[Bug 1963834] Re: openssl 3.0 - SSL: UNSAFE_LEGACY_RENEGOTIATION_DISABLED]

2022-04-26 Thread Matthew Geier
It's a bit of an 'own goal' if this gets marked as 'won't fix'. As students
upgrade to 22.04 where I work they will find they can't connect to the
institutions or research centre wireless network. They won't care that the SSL
change is protecting them from an old SSL bug, they will just come back 'it
works in windows but not Ubuntu'.
Central IT services who run the wireless will just shrug and say 'Linux not
supported'.
Need to make it easier to find how to turn on the Legacy insecure mode.
