[Bug 1741074] Re: [snap] chrome-gnome-shell extension fails to detect native host connector

2022-05-01 Thread Georg Jung
Similar problems exist with for example expressVPN (which recommends to
uninstall the snap version and install a ppa-version of firefox instead:
https://www.expressvpn.com/de/support/vpn-setup/app-for-linux/#software-
center) and with the video-download-helper extension
(https://www.downloadhelper.net/).

Same thing: native manifest.

[Bug 1970898] Re: unable to use nfs client to mount nfs in Ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-01 Thread John Steele Scott
I was also unable to use NFS mounts since upgrading my client to 22.04.
My server is a QNAP running version 5.0.0.1986.

Enabling NFSv4 on the server did not solve the issue.

Adding vers=3 as a mount option on the client lets NFS mounts work again
for me.

[Bug 1971117] [NEW] 2nd display crashed

2022-05-01 Thread Jonas Gamao
Public bug reported:

My display stopped displaying anything.

When I try to re-enable. It wouldn't work.

My laptop is connected to an HDMI KVM and I had to turn off-and-on the
dock to make it work again. And when I did, it didn't restore the
output on my 2nd display. I had to re-enable it.

[Bug 1969097] Re: connecting interfaces with a udev rule triggers return to gdm login screen

2022-05-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The upstream fix was
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/-/merge_requests/175

Although Jeremy put the fix in gdm3 version 42.0-1ubuntu3, most people
would not have got it till 42.0-1ubuntu6.

No worries, and thanks for getting back to (not just) me. In fact, this

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make

not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/

coordinating with upstream and posting a debdiff for this issue. When a

[Bug 1971113] [NEW] "List" vs "Icon" views switch seems to mess up the listing of parent folder

2022-05-01 Thread Daniel LaSalle
Public bug reported:

I have had this problem for many releases already but I am very unsure
on what is the main cause but I suspect this:

My main listing setting for caja is "List view". Except under Pictures
which is "Icon view". When I access sub-folders (in "List view" mode)
and then come back(..) the sorting is sometimes messed up/unworkable.
Pressing F5 fixes this.

See screenshots.

[Bug 1971114] [NEW] Ubuntu 22.04 python3-grpcio causes some apps to use 100% of the CPU

2022-05-01 Thread Gustavo Iñiguez Goya
Public bug reported:

Hi!

After the latest Ubuntu release 22.04, we've realized that the package
python3-grpcio 1.30.2-3build6 causes [0] opensnitch to use 100% of the
CPU [1].

This problem has never occurred before, it has worked fine on previous
versions, even with python3-grpcio 1.30.2-3 from 21.04.

If I install grpcio via pip, it works fine, with latest version 1.44.x
(>= 1.16.x and <= 1.44.0).

I've tried to debug it (GRPC_VERBOSITY=debug,
GRPC_TRACE=tcp,http,api...), but it prints nothing. Analyzing it with
strace shows some activity, but nothing like printing continuously logs
like it would be stucked on some operation.

On a normal execution grpc.server.start() is executed and the app
continues with other tasks, but on this case it never passes start().

In fact, the basic example from the grpcio website doesn't work either,
it also consumes 100% of the CPU:
http://grpc.io/docs/languages/python/basics/

I'm running out of ideas on how to debug this problem. Can someone help
to identify the reason of this problem?

[1] - https://github.com/evilsocket/opensnitch/issues/647

--

lsb_release -rd:

  Description: Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish (development branch)
  Release: 22.04

apt-cache policy python3-grpcio:

  Candidate: 1.30.2-3build6
  Version table:
 1.30.2-3build6 500

--

Steps to reproduce the problem:

 0. sudo apt install python3-grpcio

 1. clone grpcio basic example (  http://grpc.io/docs/languages/python/basics/ )
 $ git clone -b v1.45.0 --depth 1 --shallow-submodules
https://github.com/grpc/grpc

 2. $ cd grpc/examples/python/route_guide

 3. on one terminal: $python3 route_guide_server.py
 Observe that the script is taking up 100% of the CPU

4. On another terminal launch the client and observe that it does nothing: $
python3 route_guide_client.py

The workaround installing grpcio via pip:

  $ sudo apt install python3-pip
  $ pip3 install --ignore-installed grpcio
  $ python3 route_guide_server.py
  (open another terminal)
  $ python3 route_guide_client.py

Observe that now the client is able to connect to the server and the CPU
is not at 100%

[Bug 1970984] Re: Can't save files in a Folder in a Folder 22.04

Checking https://askubuntu.com/questions/1405901/ubuntu-22-04-ui-issues-

that it's possible to work around this bug if edit the name of the file
to be saved, just adding any character to the filename and it will be

[Bug 1971109] [NEW] [BPO] Backport opencpn 5.6.2 from Kinetic

2022-05-01 Thread Alec Leamas
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

The current release misses several important bugfixes available in the
Kinetic 5.6.2 package. Thus it forces users to the PPA at
https://launchpad.net/~opencpn/+archive/ubuntu/opencpn. While more
recent, this not properly packaged and reviewed, lacking a source
package etc.

[Scope]

This is about backporting opencpn 5.6.2 from Kinetic to Jammy/22.04

[Other Info]

5.6.2+dfsg is in Debian Testing/Bookworm. The Bullseye backport is
currently awaiting review on mentors.debian.net

Package sources: https://gitlab.com/leamas/opencpn/-/tree/jammy-
backports

- Package is already backported and should be eligible for a regular update
like this.
- Openpcn is a leaf package, no reverse dependencies.

[Bug 1970124] Re: duplicity backup fails with obscure error message Ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-01 Thread Steve Cohen
Kenneth:

First, thank you!

I don't run duplicity via the command line. I run it using the Ubuntu
GUI app "Backups" which I believe is just a gui-name for deja-dup. In
that setup I have a saved Preferences which governs how the Backup is
done, which files/directories to back up, which to exclude, where to
send the backup, etc.

Trying duplicity -v9 fails with
$ duplicity -v9
Command line error: Expected 2 args, got 0
Enter 'duplicity --help' for help screen.

Evidently, the deja-dup app is saving this information in a config file
somewhere and then building a command line to send to duplicity. I
don't see how to invoke duplicity so as to use these config files, whose
location I don't know either.

So, next step is to try to invoke the debugging via a deja-dup command
line.

I try this (per deja-dup --help):

$deja-dup --gtk-debug=9 > log

and it starts the GUI, producing the same failure message; however
nothing is appended to the log file, so evidently --gtk-debug=9 in
deja-dup is not equivalent to duplicity -v9.

Finally, using the Google, I find that the way to turn logging on for
deja-dup is

DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup

Redirecting this to log does indeed produce a massive file.
Hopefully, this is what you are looking for. If not please let me know
how to
1) run duplicity so that my deja-dup preferences are used or
2) run deja-dup to produce the input you want.

log head and tail will be attached.
