[Bug 1973477] Re: unable to upgrade to xubuntu
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 You've reported your issue relates to installation (ubiquity is the installer), yet your system was installed 24 days ago? You can convert this bug report into a question which is geared at support. I've marked this report as "incomplete" as it doesn't fit an installation (ubiquity) issue & appears you're after support. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Package changed: ubiquity (Ubuntu) => linux-firmware (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973477 Title: unable to upgrade to xubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1973477/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for the bug report. 1. Please open the Extensions app (from package gnome-shell-extension- prefs) and ensure you only have the three Ubuntu extensions loaded. 2. Please run these commands in a Terminal to remove any locally- installed extensions you might have: cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/ rm -rf extensions 3. Log in again and tell us if the problem returns. 4. If the problem does return then it might be related to the flood of 'unable to update icon for multiload' messages in your log. To test that theory please disable 'Ubuntu AppIndicators' in the Extensions app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973403 Title: gnome-shell is using over 13GB of ram after 5 days To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1973403/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1973485] [NEW] upgrade to 22.04 on raspberry pi can leave ethernet interface unreachable if vlans are used
Public bug reported: The 8021q kernel module was moved from the linux-modules package to the linux-modules-extras package for the Raspberry Pi. This means that vlans cannot be configured if the linux-modules-extras package is not installed. The release notes mention that some modules have been moved and to install the linux-modules-extra package if your application doesn't work. This would be adequate warning except for one issue. Systemd-networkd will fail to configure an ip address for the raspberry pi's ethernet interface when the vlans cannot be configured leaving headless systems inaccessible. I suffered this exact scenario upon upgrading since my netplan file included vlans assigned to the Pi's ethernet interface. I would recommend either updating the release notes to specifically call out this scenario or move the 8021q module back to the linux-modules package. ** Affects: linux-raspi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: raspberrypi vlans -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973485 Title: upgrade to 22.04 on raspberry pi can leave ethernet interface unreachable if vlans are used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1973485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1973434] Re: massive performance issues since 22.04 upgrade
Hi Henning, Just a thought, could you try booting with IOMMU disabled? Edit /etc/default/grub, and append "intel_iommu=off" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. Then save, and run "sudo update-grub" and reboot. Between 21.10 and 22.04 we enabled CONFIG_INTEL_IOMMU_DEFAULT_ON=y, and it has caused all sorts of odd issues, including performance related ones, so its worth a shot. We will be reverting the change to CONFIG_INTEL_IOMMU_DEFAULT_ON, and turning it off again in a kernel update in the near future. If "intel_iommu=off" doesn't help, then a make oldconfig with the 22.04 config and 5.17.7 would be interesting to see. Sync'd. Setting to fix committed since this will hang in proposed until LP: #1973382 is fixed for postgresql-common. [Bug 1971313] Re: Merge postgresql-14 from Debian unstable for kinetic
This bug was fixed in the package postgresql-14 - 14.3-1 --- postgresql-14 (14.3-1) unstable; urgency=medium * New upstream release. * Confine additional operations within security restricted operation sandboxes (Sergey Shinderuk, Noah Misch) Autovacuum, CLUSTER, CREATE INDEX, REINDEX, REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW, and pg_amcheck activated the security restricted operation protection mechanism too late, or even not at all in some code paths. A user having permission to create non-temporary objects within a database could define an object that would execute arbitrary SQL code with superuser permissions the next time that autovacuum processed the object, or that some superuser ran one of the affected commands against it. The PostgreSQL Project thanks Alexander Lakhin for reporting this problem. (CVE-2022-1552) * Fix default signature length for gist_ltree_ops indexes (Tomas Vondra, Alexander Korotkov) The default signature length (hash size) for GiST indexes on ltree columns was accidentally changed while upgrading that operator class to support operator class parameters. If any operations had been done on such an index without first upgrading the ltree extension to version 1.2, they were done assuming that the signature length was 28 bytes rather than the intended 8. This means it is very likely that such indexes are now corrupt. For safety we recommend re-indexing all GiST indexes on ltree columns after installing this update. (Note that GiST indexes on ltree[] columns, that is arrays of ltree, are not affected.) -- Christoph Berg Tue, 10 May 2022 10:34:28 +0200 ** Changed in: postgresql-14 (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Released ** CVE added: https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=2022-1552 ** Changed in: postgresql-14 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971313 Title: Merge postgresql-14 from Debian unstable for kinetic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-14/+bug/1971313/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm describing below an other test with the same physical host and virtual guest. I installed the xfce desktop environment (via tasksel) and I uninstalled all lxqt packages. I disabled the snap user service start (from the xfce session configuration panel). Then, the cold start of the deb package application is down in less than 2 seconds (better). Maybe de xfce desktop environment already loaded a few libraries (libgtk-3-0, ...). In addition, I measured the used memory (free -k) by comparing the "used" memory field before launch and a few seconds after the window appeared. With deb package application : 266 MB. With snap package application : 397 MB (+49%). It seems the deb package application saves memory because it is sharing the libraries with the other applications of the desktop. Note that I didn't count the used memory by the snap machinery (in case you wouldn't install snapd with a deb package application). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970989 Title: missing a tightly integrated deb package without snap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/1970989/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Created attachment 9276133 File pickers comparison 1 I've spun up a fresh 22.04 install in a VM, then run the snap version of ff 100 (on the right) and ff 100 from linux binaries (on the left). The file picker is different between the two versions; the binaries version shows fewer network share aliases, and this binaries version can successfully read and write to network shares. The snap version's file picker shows aliases for network shares (and a printer) and will navigate into those folders and show files, but when a file is chosen to open, ff does not read the file and does not display an error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971168 Title: [snap] Files on local network shares are not opened / written To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/1971168/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1973156] Re: Strange graphical glitch during Ubuntu installation when clicking "Install Now" after inputting disk encryption details
I'm attaching two videos. One is the full installation procedure (including making the VM and logging into the new install), the other is a snippet out of the first video containing just the part of the installation that glitches out. I'm using the newest ISO from the QA tracker. Launchpad doesn't seem to be accepting my full install video (it's 16.2 MB, maybe it's too big?), so I uploaded the videos to YouTube. [Bug 1898383] Re: tcsh filename pattern matching fails
Ubuntu Maintainers, please fix that nasty bug ASAP. It is a serious bug, easily leading to, e.g. accidental, unwanted deleting of files. For an unknown reason, Ubuntu keeps distributing this buggy tcsh 6.21 version although it was fixed already in 6.22 released in November 2019. There is now version 6.24.1 and Ubuntu 22.04 still ships with 6.21. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1898383 Title: tcsh filename pattern matching fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tcsh/+bug/1898383/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
