[Bug 2037004] Re: warnings in terminal with software-properties-gtk
Booting the just released ISO of Ubuntu 22.04 Desktop, ubuntu-drivers list and the Software & Updates/Additional Drivers tab are missing the Nvidia drivers 545 and 550, but the above warning(error?) is repeated 6 times. The apt pkgnmames will list the 545 and 550 drivers. sudo apt install nvidia-driver-550 will have the lsmod show nvidia in the modules list, but nvidia-settings does not show the expected output for an nvidia driver. Software & updates/Additional will show nouveau running, and all the nvidia drivers greyed out. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2037004 Title: warnings in terminal with software-properties-gtk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-drivers-common/+bug/2037004/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2056627] Re: PHPStorm crashes when opening a project
Its not just that app images don't have a default path, we can handle that as well. It is that user namespaces have become a privileged operation, and the user must take some privileged action to allow applications to use them. That can be any of - moving the application into a well known privileged location that has a profile already associated with it. - creating a profile for the application where it is installed in their unprivileged location. This is currently allowed but problematic in that unprivileged code code potentially write to it and we are not currently restricting unprivileged applications from writing these locations. But that will come - tagging the application with the correct security label. The important part is the user must take a privileged action to allow applications that are using user namespaces to gain privilege. Note, applications that use user namespaces that don't require privilege are allowed, its only applications that require privilege within the user namespace. Unfortunately appimages that use use namespaces need the user to take one of the above privileged actions. And unfortunately Ubuntu can not "fix" this without disabling the protection. There are plans to improve the user experience and make this easier for users to do, but atm it is a manual process. The instructions provided by Seth will enable you to get the appimage running. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056627 Title: PHPStorm crashes when opening a project To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/2056627/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2062972] Re: ntfs partition does not mount
I've been experiencing a similar issue since performing a fresh install of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS yesterday. While my external NTFS USB hard drive is recognized upon plugging it in, trying to mount it or access its contents gives me the 'wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock' error. I was able to get the external hard drive to mount via Terminal with the help of an article... https://linovox.com/how-to-fix-failed-to-mount-wrong-fs-type-bad-option-bad-superblock-on-linux/ ...however, its files are only accessible by navigating to my newly created /mnt/Media folder. The drive is not visible in Nautilus, but I can see it in the Disks app (which is also how I unmount it). I get an error when trying to access its contents with the Steam app, specifically when I attempt to use the Restore Game Backup feature. My external hard drive had been working fine with Ubuntu 22.04 a few hours earlier, and running a disk check said it was healthy. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2062972 Title: ntfs partition does not mount To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntfs-3g/+bug/2062972/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2058742]
Ignore the previous comment. With -fstack-check and -mbackchain we have for trace 2 an incoming edge from trace 1 (fallthrough) where cur_trace->end_true_args_size == 48 and from further incoming edges as e.g. from trace 7 where cur_trace->end_true_args_size == 0 which is why the args_size is supposed to be undefined. Interestingly, trace 2 resides in the function body whereas trace 7 resides in the epilogue, i.e., we have a jump from the epilogue into the function body: (note 597 810 634 NOTE_INSN_PROLOGUE_END) ... [Bug 2063895] Re: Multiple plymouth themes display wrong keyboard layout for decryption due to outdated keymap-render.png
** Description changed: [ Impact ] During the 24.04 cycle, an update was made to Plymouth. This update - apparently mandated the includsion of a lot more keyboard layouts into + apparently mandated the inclusion of a lot more keyboard layouts into the `keymap-render.png` file for each Plymouth theme, which is used by Plymouth to display what keyboard layout the user should type in when providing a disk decryption passphrase. The changes made to Plymouth are not compatible with the older `keymap-render.png` files, meaning that if a user installs with FDE enabled, the keyboard layout shown to them on the Plymouth screen will **not** be the keyboard layout actually in use. For instance, if you install a system using the US English keyboard layout, you will be told you should type in Norse (layout `no`) to decrypt the disk, despite the fact that the layout actually in use is indeed `us`. While the `spinner` Plymouth theme in use by Ubuntu got the needed update, and Kubuntu and Ubuntu Cinnamon both got the needed updates, many if not all of the remaining Plymouth themes were not updated, meaning FDE users are being shown confusing keyboard layout information every time they boot their system. The solution is to copy the `keymap-render.png` file from the `spinner` Plymouth theme into the Plymouth themes for each affected flavor. So far Lubuntu and Ubuntu Unity are known to be affected. It is likely that other flavors are as well. [ Test Plan ] * For each flavor, do an encrypted installation and observe whether the wrong keyboard layout is shown on the decryption screen. Ideally, do each installation with a different keyboard layout selected. * For each affected flavor, install a Plymouth theme package that has the updated keymap-render.png file, then reboot the system. * Observe the decryption screen and ensure the proper keyboard layout is shown. [ Where problems could occur ] If the keymap-render.png file from `spinner` is also wrong in some way (which I have not seen yet), then applying updates in this way will result in everyone's decryption keyboard layout indicator being broken in the same way. Doing each installation with a different keyboard layout should detect if the image is obviously broken and only just so happens to work with the couple of keyboard layouts I've already tried. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063895 Title: Multiple plymouth themes display wrong keyboard layout for decryption due to outdated keymap-render.png To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-artwork/+bug/2063895/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2063899] [NEW] Dummy audio device running on new installs
Public bug reported: [Impact] Ubiquity and Calamares used to have a facility to make the first configured user part of the `audio` group by default. Unfortunately, with `ubuntu-desktop-bootstrap`, we lost this ability in Ubuntu Studio and making sure that the users had the proper configuration (memory limits for the audio group) was an oversight. Fortunately, the ubuntustudio-installer application, and its included ubuntustudio-audio-config application, have the facility to do that, although the script needed a little bit of work and the entire package was missing a runtime dependency on `polkitd-pkla` to make the whole system work as expected. [Test Case] * Run Ardour * Ardour will complain about limited memory (see screenshot attached) Expected: No complaints from Ardour [What could go wrong] The only thing I expect could go wrong is that the systemd user service fails to launch. The backup for this is to run ubuntustudio-audio-config from the launcher, which would run everything as expected (setting the memory limits, adding the user to the `audio` group, and rebooting the system). ** Affects: ubuntustudio-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Erich Eickmeyer (eeickmeyer) Status: In Progress ** Attachment added: "Screenshot_20240426_163412.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063899/+attachment/5771168/+files/Screenshot_20240426_163412.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063899 Title: Dummy audio device running on new installs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntustudio-installer/+bug/2063899/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2063895] [NEW] Multiple plymouth themes display wrong keyboard layout for decryption due to outdated keymap-render.png
Public bug reported: [ Impact ] During the 24.04 cycle, an update was made to Plymouth. This update apparently mandated the includsion of a lot more keyboard layouts into the `keymap-render.png` file for each Plymouth theme, which is used by Plymouth to display what keyboard layout the user should type in when providing a disk decryption passphrase. ** Affects: lubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: plymouth-theme-ubuntu-unity (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: lubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: plymouth-theme-ubuntu-unity (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: High Status: New ** Also affects: plymouth-theme-ubuntu-unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: lubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: plymouth-theme-ubuntu-unity (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: lubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: plymouth-theme-ubuntu-unity (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063895 Title: Multiple plymouth themes display wrong keyboard layout for decryption due to outdated keymap-render.png To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-artwork/+bug/2063895/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1958019]
> Kindly follow Comment 872 to force tas2781 to work I had been using 6.7.9 for the last week with no issues. I upgrade to 6.8.7, and within 3 minutes audio broken. I save your script and run it -- su root -- ./tas2781-2dev-on.sh Sound works again, however: - sound is notably louder compared to 6.7.9 - right inside / right speaker? (not sure if there's 1 or 2) is louder than on 6.8.7 with your script. After a few minutes, once again audio will break again, until I re-run your script. Interestingly, after second run of script the audio balance is fixed. Both left/right speakers sound correct instead of being right-side balanced. Unfortunately, breaks soon after. For me audio never lasts more than ~3min. I also notice that the audio levels will oscillate occasionally on 6.8.x kernels, where this does not occur on 6.7.9. If there is anything more I can do to help, please advise. I can try any combination of kernel/patches if needed. I just want to resolve this issue without beings stuck on 6.7.9 kernel. Again for my posts, model is: Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (Gen 8, 2023) - and alsamixer shows ALC287 under system info. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958019 Title: [Lenovo Legion7 16ACHg6 82N6, Realtek ALC287, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/sound-2.6/+bug/1958019/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
