[Bug 2064077] [NEW] Overridding Left and Right do not work

2024-04-28 Thread Fabrice
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I just installed Ubuntu 24.4 and set my favourite keyboard shortcuts.
I want to use Super+Left and Super+Right to navigate between workspaces. I
disabled the "split view left" and "split view right" which I don't like at
all, and set "Move to workspace left" to Super+Left and "Move to workspace
right" to Super+Right.

I rebooted the computer. Despite all of that, Super+Left still does the
"split view left" thing, and ditto for Super+Right.

How can I get those keyboard shortcuts to do what I want?

Thank you,

  Fabrice

[Bug 2063983] Re: 24.04 Upgrade/Fresh Install results in black screen on reboot on AMDGPU system

2024-04-28 Thread twelfth
** Description changed:

- Config: Ryzen 5 5600X with Radeon 6800 XT GPU, a Navi21 card.
+ Config: Ryzen 5 5600X with Radeon 6700 XT GPU, a Navi21 card.

  Using xUbuntu.

  I had been daily driving the 24.04 nightly iso since March. About a week
  ago, I took a kernel update via apt and rebooted. The result was that
  the system would hard freeze to a black screen after the initial kernel
  messages cleared from the screen. Ctrl-Alt-Del did nothing, switching
  terminals (ctrl-alt-f#) did nothing, had to hard power off to regain
  control of the system.

  I tried various fixes, none of which permanently stuck. This includes
  nomodeset in grub, rebooting into safe mode, checking for proprietary
  drivers. Safe mode allowed me to reboot once more into desktop, but then
  any subsequent reboots would result in a black screen lockup.

  Suspending while able to use the desktop before reboot would cause a
  black screen lockup did not seem to cause any issues.

  3 days before 24.04 was officially released, I reflashed the most recent
  installer iso to my thumbdrive, copied my home folder to my RAID and did
  a full wipe and fresh install.

  First reboot after installation always went to the desktop. Subsequent
  reboots always resulted in a black screen lockup.

  Memtest cleared without errors.

  Again tried various fixes, nomodeset, safe mode, drivers. The only
  consistency was that regardless of what I could do to regain control or
  what I did differently when doing a wipe and reinstall, I would always
  reboot to a black screen.

  Once 24.04 was officially released, I again did a full wipe and
  reinstall and encountered all of the above same issues as before.

  After mentioning this in #ubuntu on libera, someone suggested a kernel
  downgrade.

  24.04 as installed was using 6.8.0-31.31

  Using Mainline, I downgraded to the next minor version below 6.8 that
  was considered stable. 6.7.10

  Problem went away. No more black screen on boot, no more hard power offs
  required to be able to use my system again, no suspend issues. Was not
  necessary for me to do anything else to maintain a consistent successful
  reboot to desktop.

  Did yet another full wipe and fresh install of 24.04, only installing
  Mainline upon first reboot to install 6.7.10, using Grub Customizer to
  edit the default grub option to boot the 6.7.10 kernel instead.

  No issues.

  I apologise that I did not collect logs during this process.

[Bug 2064073] [NEW] gnome-terminal display lags on keypresses

2024-04-28 Thread John Broadhead
Public bug reported:

For a few weeks now my terminal has had an odd hang of up to nearly a second.
Usually on the first character I type in a line. I'd say it happens on at least
one out of 5 times. At first I thought that maybe it was something that bash
was doing in the background, but I went to a bare Linux VT (Ctrl+Alt+F5) and
there is never any hangup there.
I also installed and tried stterm, and that doesn't appear to have the same
problem at all either.

I tried using the X.org display driver, rather than the Nvidia one (I
have an RTX 2770) and that seemed to make the problem go away in gnome-
terminal. But oddly, there aren't any similar hangs in games or anything
else, just gnome-terminal. Although I think I also experienced something
similar in the Ubuntu settings app in text input fields. So maybe
there's something in common between those apps?

[Bug 2040137] Re: exposing the EFI shell in Secure Boot mode can lead to security bypass

2024-04-28 Thread Mark Esler
This has been addressed in the LXD snaps 5.21/stable
(https://github.com/canonical/lxd-pkg-snap/commit/764ee08b) and 5.0/edge
(https://github.com/canonical/lxd-pkg-snap/commit/bfe4270e).

All LXD software before version 4 are not affected.

Jammy, Mantic, and Noble do not have debs. Focal's deb is a snap
installer. If LP is meant to track affected debs, all tagged LXD
releases are invalid.

[Bug 2064068] [NEW] Display manager fails needing pci rescan with thunderbolt eGPU

2024-04-28 Thread Con Kolivas
Public bug reported:

1.
No LSB modules are available.
Description:Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Release:24.04

2.
udev:
  Installed: 255.4-1ubuntu8
  Candidate: 255.4-1ubuntu8
  Version table:
 *** 255.4-1ubuntu8 500
500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3.
Xorg should init via sddm, gd3m, or lightdm

4.
Display manager fails to init, remaining at console.

I have an eGPU device connected via thunderbolt
 ● Razer Core X
   ├─ type:  peripheral
   ├─ name:  Core X
   ├─ vendor:Razer
   ├─ uuid:  00c998e0-6fea-2701--
   ├─ generation:Thunderbolt 3

It is mounted onto MSI MS-7E06 motherboard with a thunderbolt card. The
card is correctly detected and enabled on bootup.

I have a NVIDIA 4070GTX installed on the eGPU device

VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation AD104 [GeForce RTX 4070]
(rev a1)

I have installed the NVIDIA 550 drivers associated with this device

However, the presence of a GPU in an eGPU is not correctly detected
after bootup. The various NVIDIA services at startup all present failure
on bootup.

Sddm fails to start after multiple retries. Switching display manager to
gdm3 or lightdm results in the same failure.

An `lspci` fails to show the device on the console.

I manually added a systemd daemon to scan the PCI bus before the display
manager begins with:
echo "1" | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/rescan > /dev/null

This then correctly identifies the device in the PCI bus, and then the
display manager proceeds to start appropriately. eGPU functionality is
limited to compute unless I manually insert xorg.conf.d rules, but that
is an unrelated issue to do with limited eGPU support currently with
xorg/wayland.

I believe the PCI bus needs to be scanned with udev rules when a
thunderbolt device is detected/inserted.

[Bug 1778322] Re: gvfs-smb-browse can't browse samba/smb tree

2024-04-28 Thread BloodyIron
CAN WE PLEASE GET THIS FIXED ALREADY? I have to deal with this EVERY DAY
and this is an extremely easy fix in code to make. But I do not have any
approval for code commitment or anything like that.

THIS PROBLEM IS NOW 6 YEARS OLD and could probably be fixed in HALF AN
HOUR.

I am fed up having to BEG for this to get
fixed

[Bug 2063962] Re: 24.04 UEFI install fails, BIOS install succeeds

2024-04-28 Thread Mike Perrin
This seems to be unique to the Q1900M board. I cobbled together another
system with an ASRock 970 Extreme 3 motherboard, Athlon II CPU and 8GB
RAM and the MATE UEFI install succeeded. Conversely a UEFI install of
Lubuntu, which uses the Calamares installer also failed on the Q1900M
system. So I don't know what the problem is but I know some things it is
not. It is not the hard disk because the install failed with a different
one. It is not memory size because it failed when I borrowed a memory
stick from another machine to get 8GB on the Q1900M.

After making two backups of my home directory and the disk image of my
target machine (An ASRock J5040-ITX board) I worked up the courage to
try 24.04 MATE there and it succeeded. It appears this is a peculiar
problem with my Q1900M test box (which had no problems with previous
Ubuntu releases). If no one else is experiencing a similar problem I
suggest we chalk this one up to no-see-ums and forget it.

[Bug 2008958] Re: please backport 0.21 to jammy

2024-04-28 Thread Mario Limonciello
I've tested the jammy upload against two AMD Phoenix laptops and
everything is working as I would expect.

However; I don't think it's appropriate to add the verification-done-
jammy tag until we have some information from people on Intel machines
to ensure we didn't cause any unintended side effects.

[Bug 2061079] Re: GTK-ngl (new default backend) rendering issues with the nvidia 470 driver

2024-04-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

  When the Nvidia 470 driver is used GTK 4 fails to render most text
  labels.

  [ Workaround ]

  Install a newer Nvidia driver using the 'Additional Drivers' app if you
- can. Otherwise add GSK_RENDERER=gl to /etc/environment and reboot.
+ can. Otherwise add GSK_RENDERER=gl (or GSK_RENDERER=vulkan) to
+ /etc/environment and reboot.

  [ Test Plan ]

  1. Install the Nvidia 470 driver on a system that supports it, being
  careful to ensure that Nvidia is the PRIMARY GPU of the system. So
  usually a desktop.

  2. Open the Settings app and verify that all the icons in the side menu
  are visible.

  3. Open Nautilus and verify that no file icons are missing their text
  labels.

  [ Where problems could occur ]

  Anywhere else in the rendering of GTK 4 apps.

  [ Additional information ]

  With nvidia driver, all GTK4 applications have label rendering issues.

  They are not refresh until passing the cursor over them, giving blank
  windows. The corner are white and not themed. Passing from one app scren
  to another one reproduces the issue.

  gnome-control-center or files, for instance, are blank by default.

  As suggested by seb128, exporting GSK_RENDERER=gl fixes the issue.

2024-04-28 Thread AceLan Kao
@Jess,

Does the "iwlwifi :e4:00.0: WRT: Invalid buffer destination" error affect
the wifi stability?
Could you provde a dmesg log after you upgraded to 24.04?

BTW, could you also check your wifi AP(router), try rebooting it or
check if there is a new firmware for it, thanks.

[Bug 2036467] Re: Resizing cloud-images occasionally fails due to superblock checksum mismatch in resize2fs

2024-04-28 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Hi Krister,

Thanks for the heads up about 1.47.1 upstream, it does indeed look like
a release is coming soon.

It seems Debian unstable already has 1.7.1-rc1:
https://packages.debian.org/sid/e2fsprogs

When the Ubuntu archive opens for OO, we will merge 1.47.1~rc1-1 from
debian unstable, and then submit the patches for SRU to noble, mantic,
jammy and focal. Should be a few days.

Thanks,
Matthew

[Bug 2063892] Re: How to « star » an item in Nautilus 46 / Ubuntu 24.04 ?

2024-04-28 Thread Coeur Noir
What ?

Ok now it's buried one click further, therefore almost invisible.

That may not be a bug but a counter-intuitive « new » way.

So is there a method to add back an entry for « starring an item » into the (
right-click ) context-menu ?
That would make this feature « faster » reachable.

[Bug 2040483] Re: AppArmor denies crun sending signals to containers (stop, kill)

2024-04-28 Thread Tomáš Virtus
** Description changed:

- Mantic's system podman containers are completely broken due to bug
- 2040082. However, after fixing that (rebuilding with the patch, or a
- *shht don't try this at home* hack [1]), the AppArmor policy still
- causes bugs:
+ [ Impact ]
+
+ * On mantic and noble, when run as root, podman cannot stop any
+ container running in background because crun is being run with a new
+ profile introduced in AppArmor v4.0.0 that doesn't have corresponding
+ signal receive rule container's profile.
+
+ * Without the fix, users would have to resort to figuring out
+ container's PID 1 and killing it as root or by other privileged and
+ unconfined process. This is a regression from basic podman
+ functionality.
+
+ * The fix adds signal receive rules for currently confined OCI runtimes
+ in AppArmor v4.0.0 (runc and crun) to the profile used by podman.
+
+ [ Test Plan ]
+
+ All commands must be invoked as root.
+
+ Start container in background and then stop it:
+
+   # Run container in background (-d)
+   podman run -d --name foo docker.io/library/nginx:latest
+   # Stop the container
+   podman stop foo
+
+ On success, the last command should print the container name and the
+ container running in background should be stopped (verify with "podman
+ ps").
+
+ Additional tests:
+
+ Verify that container running in foreground TTY can be stopped.
+
+   # Terminal 1:
+ # Run container on this TTY
+ podman run -it --name bar --rm docker.io/library/ubuntu:22.04
+
+   # Terminal 2:
+   # Stop the container
+   podman stop foo
+
+ On success, the last command should print the container name, the
+ process running in terminal 1 should stop, and the container should be
+ removed (verify with "podman ps -a").
+
+ Verify that container running with dumb init can be killed.
+
+ # Run container in background (-d) with dumb init
+ podman run -d --name bar --rm --init ubuntu:22.04 sleep infinity
+   # Stop the container
+   podman stop foo
+
+ On success, the last command should print the container name and the
+ container running in background should be stopped and removed (verify
+ with "podman ps -a").
+
+ Verify container processes can signal each other
+
+ # Run container in foreground with processes sending signals between
themselves
+   podman run ubuntu:22.04 sh -c 'sleep inf & sleep 1 ; kill $!'
+
+
+ On success, the last command should exit after cca 1 second with exit status
0.
+
+ [ Where problems could occur ]
+
+ * The fix requires a rebuild of podman that will pull in any other
+ changes in the archive since the last build, which could potentially
+ break some functionality.
+
+
+ [ Original report ]
+
+
+ Mantic's system podman containers are completely broken due to bug 2040082.
However, after fixing that (rebuilding with the patch, or a *shht don't try
this at home* hack [1]), the AppArmor policy still causes bugs:

[Bug 2064039] Re: TB Snap fails to import/display large mbox-file completely

2024-04-28 Thread sverris
** Description changed:

  I use TB 115.10.1 (snap) since today, after a system upgrade of Lubuntu
  23.10 to 24.04 via terminal. All was fine before the update. I use Pop,
  no Imap. Transition to TB snap seemed fine but one the various mbox-
  files were not properly imported/displayed. All attempts to properly
  import it by hand failed. The mbox-file is ~2.4 GB containing a large
  archive of e-mails from 2013 on, yet just ~1.4GB are displayed. When I
  try to import the file, it seems to start but then no e-mails are
  actually imported. So I see not all e-mails in my inbox (the last 3
  years are missing). All my other mbox-files are much smaller - and
  they're all fine.
+
+ Addition: I just tried TB as a flatpak-installation in Lubuntu, and
+ there I can import all data/mbox-files from my existing TB 115.10.1.
+ (snap) just fine. Maybe that helps...

[Bug 2050850] Re: Selected encoding not taken into account when saving

including:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-text-editor/+bug/2064024
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-text-editor/+bug/2064025

A viable solution could be for the Canonical staff to update the package
to the latest version, as these bugs have been addressed in the most
recent upstream release.

2024-04-28 Thread Sudip Mukherjee
modified debdiff for Noble attached (modifed version).

** Summary changed:

- html_formfu_dumpconf.pl fails to run
+ [SRU] html_formfu_dumpconf.pl fails to run

** Description changed:

+ [ Impact ]
+
  html_formfu_dumpconf.pl fails to run with the error:

- $ html_formfu_dumpconf.pl
+ $ html_formfu_dumpconf.pl

+ BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/html_formfu_dumpconf.pl line 7.
+
+ [ Test Plan ]
+
+ 1. install libhtml-formfu-perl
+ 2. execute html_formfu_dumpconf.pl to check if the error is fixed.
+ 3. For a complete test, use the conf file from example.
+
+ html_formfu_dumpconf.pl /usr/share/doc/libhtml-formfu-
+ perl/examples/unicode/root/forms/view.conf
+
+ [ Where problems could occur ]
+
+ There is no change in code and it only fixes the runtime dependency so
+ that html_formfu_dumpconf.pl find everything it needs. And, so the
+ chances of a regression is very less for this change.
+
+ [ Other Info ]
+
+ It has been fixed in Debian so the next development version will be
+ fixed when its synced with Debian.

[Bug 2023630] Re: cups-browsed - AppArmor profile missing rights for "/run/systemd/resolve/io.systemd.Resolve"

2024-04-28 Thread Mike Vastola
I was able to get around this by running the following

$ sudo mkdir /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/nss-systemd.d
$ echo -e '# vim:syntax=apparmor\n\n  abi ,\n
@{run}/systemd/resolve/io.systemd.Resolve rw,' | sudo tee
/etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/nss-systemd.d/resolver
$ sudo systemctl reload apparmor

There may very well be better ways to do this, but this seems to work.

NB: FWIW, I believe this gives many applications the ability to use
systemd-resolved to resolve hostnames, but I can't imagine that being a
security issue.

[Bug 2064037] Re: GDM session crashes after returning from a screen-off.

2024-04-28 Thread Jon Crall
On the matrix chat Nils mentioned that "im on nvidia 550 atm and on
wayland. i had some X11 crashes in the past and wayland does a much
better job so far"

So, I changed my session type to Wayland by logging out and using the
gear by my username to select wayland. Doing that seems to have an issue
with "Settings", clicking the setting gear or running `gnome-control-
center` resulted in a segfault. I did some googling, and saw that this
might be a nvidia driver issue, so I upgraded my drivers from `nvidia-
driver-350` to `nvidia-driver-550`.

After a reboot the segfault in `gnome-control-center` went away, and the
logout crash also seems to be gone as well. I tested it by letting the
screen dim, waiting 10 minutes, and then pressing a few keys. Instead of
crashing it went right back to my session.

Of course it would be nice if crashes didn't occur in the out-of-the-box
Ubuntu 24.04 install, but in this case there seems to be a simple
solution: Use Wayland and 550 drivers.

[Bug 2064037] Re: GDM session crashes after returning from a screen-off.

2024-04-28 Thread Jon Crall
Also attaching the results of `sudo journalctl --dmesg --priority
warning > journalctl_dmsg_warnings.log` it does seem to have some nvidia
errors and tracebacks. It doesn't mean much to me, but perhaps it has
useful information in it.

[Bug 2064037] Re: GDM session crashes after returning from a screen-off.

2024-04-28 Thread Jon Crall
I'm also experiencing intermittent crashes of the window manager -
either gnome-shell or gdm3, not 100% sure. What I am sure of is that I'm
getting forcibly logged out.

I just experienced a crash when discussion this issue in matrix chat.
There were a few things going on at the time. I did have steam and
starcraft 2 open (running through steam's experimental proton). But that
was in the background. In the foreground I was just moving a gvim window
that had journalctl logs in it that I was going to copy into my chrome
browser.

I'm attaching the journalctl logs from that crash here as well, as perhaps
these issues are related.

[Bug 2064037] [NEW] GDM session crashes after returning from a screen-off.

2024-04-28 Thread Jon Crall
Public bug reported:

I've written an AskUbuntu question about this:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1511958/screen-lock-keeps-occuring-
on-24-04-even-though-i-believe-ive-disabled-it/1512075#1512075

Originally I thought it was gnome not respecting my setting to prevent
locking the screen after idling, but after discussing the issue on
matrix (https://matrix.to/#/!EJhpCQHHqqcNicfiql:xentonix.net/$kPbn-
fqDZgoG4s6PyQfki8tcSKJUpGH9QrXZSSV_vKY?via=decred.org=matrix.org=ubuntu.com)
I think it is actually just a gdm or gnome-shell crash that happens when
the PC idles, the screen turns off, and then I wake it.

To summarize the symptom. I have the PC set to disable the screen after
being idle for 5 minutes. I also set it such that it should not lock the
session when this happens. (I want to turn on the screen and get right
back to where I was without password overhead). What I've observed is
that when I give the idle PC keyboard input, it wakes to a login screen,
and when I login my windows from the previous session are completely
gone (although tmux sessions are still alive).

I've attached a relevant section of `journalctl --user` from around the
time when I last tried to interact with the idle PC. I believe the
"wake" event happens at `Apr 28 13:42:43` at which point we start seeing
whoopsie messages:

```
Apr 28 13:42:44 toothbrush systemd[1]: Started whoopsie.service - crash report
submission.
```

And then what looks like logs indicating that I was logged out and the
previous session was ended:

```
Apr 28 13:42:56 toothbrush systemd[1]: run-user-1000-gvfs.mount: Deactivated
successfully.
Apr 28 13:42:57 toothbrush gdm-password][60731]:
pam_unix(gdm-password:session): session closed for user joncrall
Apr 28 13:42:57 toothbrush systemd[1]: session-61.scope: Deactivated
successfully.
Apr 28 13:42:57 toothbrush systemd[1]: session-61.scope: Consumed 12min 9.467s
CPU time.
Apr 28 13:42:57 toothbrush systemd-logind[1790]: Session 61 logged out. Waiting
for processes to exit.
Apr 28 13:42:57 toothbrush systemd-logind[1790]: Removed session 61.
```

The time from `13:42:44` to `13:43:07` where I get:

```
Apr 28 13:43:07 toothbrush systemd-logind[1790]: New session 221 of user
joncrall.
Apr 28 13:43:07 toothbrush systemd[1]: Started session-221.scope - Session 221
of User joncrall.
```

seems about right, because it takes a few seconds to go from de-idling
the machine to seeing any sort of display.

[Bug 2064023] Re: Installer should detect small ESP in a dual boot

2024-04-28 Thread Mario Limonciello
And so it's clear how this size is determined by fwupd it's based on the
size of the payload the system will be using (IE the SPI size):

https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/blob/9713cead62e79da26d4c5637dd9682b21a9f0b21/plugins/uefi-
capsule/fu-uefi-device.c#L635

The size is doubled because often the firmware updater will make a
backup of the SPI to the ESP or will extract the payload while updating.

I think a reasonable default would be to ensure that there is 128MB of
free space available to cover up to a 64Mb SPI part and a backup.

[Bug 2064034] [NEW] Boot takes a long time due to "plymouth-quit-wait"

2024-04-28 Thread Michal Hečko
Public bug reported:

Fresh install of Ubuntu 24.04. Boot takes too long. Everything seems
corrent, plymount's loading screen disapears after a while (few seconds)
and black screen happends. This is the time when GDM3 should shows up. I
have to wait few minutes and then after changing TTY by pressing i.e.
CTRL+ALT+F2 and then immediately switch back by CTRL+ALT+F1 GDM3 shows
up.

I figured out, that "plymouth-quit-wait.service" took too much (4+ minutes).

[Bug 2061747] Re: obsolete out-of-tree ivsc dkms in favor of in-tree one

2024-04-28 Thread Martin D. Weinberg
I did the followings steps:
- Added the noble-proposed repo
- Installed the driver(s) using: `sudo apt install
intel-ipu6-dkms/noble-proposed`
- Confirmed that the correct package was installed:
```
$ apt policy intel-ipu6-dkms
intel-ipu6-dkms:
  Installed: 0~git202404110253.97c94720-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0~git202404110253.97c94720-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0~git202404110253.97c94720-0ubuntu1 100
100 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble-proposed/universe amd64
Packages
 0~git202311240921.07f0612e-0ubuntu2 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble/universe amd64 Packages
```
- Rebooted

I see no evidence that a ipu6 device was detected. E.g. nothing in
kern.log from intel-ipu6 after the new driver package installed.
Perhaps I'm I missed something important here? LMK if there's another
test I can perform.

[Bug 2064030] [NEW] Byobu 6.5+ autostart broken with fish shell

2024-04-28 Thread David Mehren
Public bug reported:

Since byobu 6.5, the shell spawned by byobu-shell is started as a login
shell using -l
(https://github.com/dustinkirkland/byobu/commit/4a2ebccb627055e3605e39d300c6cf23d12939a1).
This breaks byobu autostart with fish, as the autostart code in
config.fish uses status --is-login to determine if fish runs inside
byobu already. The autostart code only executes byobu-launcher if fish
is a login shell (and interactive, but that doesn't seem relevant here).
As byobu then starts fish again as a login shell, byobu starts again,
which leads to tmux refusing to work with "sessions should be nested
with care, unset $TMUX to force" and everything quits.

I now cannot SSH into my server with byobu 6.5+ and autostart enabled,
as byobu immediately quits.

This has also been experienced by another user in
https://github.com/dustinkirkland/byobu/commit/4a2ebccb627055e3605e39d300c6cf23d12939a1#commitcomment-140698811

[Bug 2051595] Re: Reapplying a layout with mapped applications makes the app unresponsive

2024-04-28 Thread Angel D. Segarra
I can reproduce this much more easily and consistently when tiling
chrome and vscode both running under xwayland.

e.g.
1. Tile vscode to the right (super+right)
2. Tile chrome to the left (super+left)
3. both apps are unresponsive to input, chrome can be seen flickering as in OPs
video with gnome-text.

[Bug 2061079] Re: GTK-ngl (new default backend) rendering issues with the nvidia 470 driver

The proposed workaround works for me for the 470 using gt710 card, but I
feel that it slows the windows rendering while moving them (like a slow

[Bug 1876486] Re: systemd breaks due to old libsecomp libs left on the system

2024-04-28 Thread Jeremy Akers
I just ran into this same issue. I have a server that started out on
16.04. I just did "do-release-upgrade -m server" to upgrade to 18.04 and
then again to 20.04. After the 20.04 upgrade finished the server would
no longer boot with the exact same error described here:

/sbin/init: symbol lookup error: /lib/systemd/libsystemd-shared-245.so:
undefined symbol: seccomp_api_get

I do not understand why bugs like this cannot get fixed even years after
several people have reported the same issue and the repro steps are
clear: Start with 16.04 upgrade to 18.04 and then 20.04. Clearly the
upgrade tool is not properly cleaning up these files.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060390

If you encounter the "No Camera Found" issue while using GNOME Snapshot, here's
how you can address it:
- Close the App: First, close the GNOME Snapshot app if it's open.
- Restart Pipewire: Open a terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T. Then, restart
Pipewire by running the following command:

systemctl --user restart pipewire

- Launch GNOME Snapshot: After restarting Pipewire, run the following
command to start the camera app from the command line:

snapshot

[Bug 2064023] [NEW] Installer should detect small ESP in a dual boot

2024-04-28 Thread Mario Limonciello
Public bug reported:

If someone sets up Windows before Ubuntu, Windows will create an EFI
system partition that gets reused by Ubuntu.

This is generally fine, but a major problem is that the EFI system
partition is also where firmware updates are staged during a BIOS
update.

If the ESP is too small, then the update won't be able to run. The
command line fwupdmgr tool will show this type of message:

/boot/efi does not have sufficient space, required 93.2 MB, got 66.8 MB

This is a situation that should be handled at install time. If the ESP
is too small to support updates later it should be resized or a new one
created for Ubuntu to use.

[Bug 2062911] Re: Something went worng screen after changing cursor

New version of gnome tweaks should be here soon, i guess they will fix it.
When you get something went wrong screen try clicking ctrl+alt+t and terminal
should open, after that type gnome-tweaks in terminal. Tweaks gui should open
and then just change everything to default and reboot.
