May 23 06:32:55 blofecn2 pacemaker-schedulerd[7828]: warning: Cluster node
blofecn-node2 will be fenced: nfs_daemon failed there

After that i looked at the mounts a little closer.
My issue seems to be the following:
/dev/mapper/DCSS_VG-nfs_infodir on /export_root/nfs_infodir type ext4
(rw,relatime)
/dev/mapper/DCSS_VG-nfs_infodir on /var/lib/nfs type ext4 (rw,relatime)
sunrpc on /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw,relatime)
sunrpc on /export_root/nfs_infodir/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw,relatime)

rpc_pipefs is mounted twice, becaufe i originally set the
nfs_shared_infodir to /export_root/nfs_infodir an mounted the Filesystem
there, a bind mount to /var/lib/nfs also creates a second pipefs mount.

I now switched my nfs_shared_infodir directly to /var/lib/nfs by updating the
resources.
Now i have only one pipefs mount:

/dev/mapper/DCSS_VG-nfs_infodir on /var/lib/nfs type ext4 (rw,relatime)
sunrpc on /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw,relatime)

Since i can only test on Thursday i'll report back after 6th of june if
this is working

Best wishes
Jacob

[Bug 934371] Re: Unresolvable problem message does not help users and results in less useful bug reports

2024-05-22 Thread Muhammad Adnan Ahmed
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This was likely caused by:
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
Please use the tool 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge
package to remove software from a Launchpad PPA and
try the upgrade again.

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to
investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will
contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and
'apt.log'.

[Bug 1801942] Re: Open containing folder in context menu not working

2024-05-22 Thread Fernando
Current workaround and context:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1033093/why-has-gnome-search-tool-gone

Marked as invalid, because tool is deprecated and a different tool must
be used

When using mate, mate-search-tool.desktop must have: to be able to pin
it.

[Bug 2062951] Re: Random flickering with Intel i915 on Linux 6.8 (Ubuntu 24.04)

2024-05-22 Thread Kenneth W Green
Hi, OK I have tried both temporary and permanent grub boot changes with
modified intel_idle.max_cstate=2 and 4 and on all occasions after grub
update and reboot the boot splash page is steady the login page flickers
badly and the desktop settles but still flickers.

Tks for the help but unfortunately workaround does not work on the Dell
Insperion 955 Intel i7 64/16Gb 1tb Radeon GPU. Ive include a snap shot
of my patched grub boot file.

[Bug 2066066] Re: cloud-init startup failure with Python 3.9.5, Ubuntu Focal

2024-05-22 Thread James Falcon
The version of Python that is shipped with Ubuntu is what is supported
for the system. In the case of Focal, that is 3.8. It is fine to install
and use Python 3.9 for user applications, but when you run `update-
alternatives` to replace the default version of Python, you are now
forcing packages that were expecting to use Python 3.8 to instead use
Python 3.9.

[Bug 2064189] Re: Screen flickers after installing Ubuntu 24.04

2024-05-22 Thread Kenneth W Green
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2062951 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2062951

I have reverted and re-installed 24.04 upgrade on two occasions both
times,, same issue,

This work round only slows the occurrences of flickering, it does not
fix the issue for me on my Dell Insperion 9555 Intel i7 64/16Gb 1Tb
Radeon GPU.

[Bug 2063841] Re: [SRU] virtualbox crash on network traffic

2024-05-22 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Gianfranco, or anyone else affected,

Accepted virtualbox-hwe into noble-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox-
hwe/7.0.16-dfsg-2ubuntu1.24.04.2 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
noble to verification-done-noble. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-noble. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 2062951] Re: Random flickering with Intel i915 on Linux 6.8 (Ubuntu 24.04)

2024-05-22 Thread Eugene San
Proper fix might come in future releases of Linux kernel.

For now adding "intel_idle.max_cstate=4" to the kernel command line should work
at expense of a minor power consumption.
See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParameters#Permanently_Add_a_Kernel_Boot_Parameter
 for instructions.

[Bug 2066516] Re: fractional scaling corrupts the monitors.xml file

2024-05-22 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2066516/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 2066483] Re: lock screen

2024-05-22 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

You've reported this as a documentation issue, but haven't provided details of
which address/page where the documentation needs correcting. ie. Was it a page
viewed after https://help.ubuntu.com/ and if so which page in ubuntu-docs needs
correcting? and what exactly is the issue.

Are you seeking support? If so I suggest a support site, this question
can be converted into a question which will change the emphasis to
support (instead of current focus on fixing an issues with ubuntu-docs
or documentation).

[Bug 2066157] Re: cpio 2.13+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4 breaks zfs build (alien command fails)

2024-05-22 Thread paulcd2000
I can confirm this issue, I have a cpio archive generated by extracting
the rpm from the ZFS build that errors on a system with
2.13+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4, and work on a system with 2.13+dfsg-2ubuntu0.3.

Given that the difference beteeen both 2ubuntu0.3 and 2ubuntu0.4 AND
7ubuntu and 7ubuntu0.1 is the fix for CVE-2023-7207, my guess is that
that fix is broken in some way.

[Bug 2063983] Re: 24.04 Upgrade/Fresh Install results in black screen on reboot on AMDGPU system

2024-05-22 Thread Kim Botherway
Confirmed that after an upgrade from 23.10 to 24.04 Kubuntu on an AMD
GPU removing "quite splash" from the Grub config allows X windows to
start. On attempts with splash in the config, X server would stop
around the point of loading "vesa" - no further messages would be logged
in the Xorg.0.log

[Bug 2066534] [NEW] kernel segfault reported on inserting any USB device

2024-05-22 Thread Gordon Lack
Public bug reported:

Everytime a new device is found on the USB bus a message like this is
reported in dmesg and syslog.

2024-05-22T22:50:05.835993+01:00 gmllaptop kernel: w[4942]: segfault at
4c ip 5e15d21dce73 sp 7fff3a087a20 error 4 in
w[5e15d21dc000+3000] likely on CPU 2 (core 2, socket 0)

It doesn't appear to cause a problem, but then I don't know what it is
trying to do when it segfaults.

NOTE: Using the ubuntu-bug -p linux suggestions fails.
Running it as me, nothing happens.
Running it as root it collects a report, but never opens a browser window.

[Bug 1876716] Re: Error transferring track: "could not open resource for writing" when copying tracks to library

2024-05-22 Thread Michael Smith-Sardior
I am currently having this problem ...again. It is with a single disk I am
trying to extract.
Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
RhythmBox 3.4.4

There is no other instance of the files anywhere in the directories I am
attempting to send the extraction. The file names are all within the
legal characters (which I have had problems with in the past). I have
1.x TB of space on the drive. I can play the CD with RhythmBox, but it
won't extract. I have been extracting files all morning till I hit this
one CD. I will continue extracting files if the program will permit with
'other' CD's.

Is this a problem if the CD has DRM protection on it? I don't think this
CD does, but sometimes one never knows. And, if so, is there a way to
find out?

[Bug 2066526] [NEW] Filezilla crashes when uploading files

2024-05-22 Thread Josh
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04, I am no longer able to
upload files using filezilla. The program leaves a zero-sized
placeholder on the remote server, then crashes with a generic core dump
message.

See also: https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=58592

As reported there, the latest pre-built upstream release works as
expected, but that is only really relevant insofar as it provides
affected users with a viable/temporary workaround.

[Bug 2063821] Re: Ubuntu 22.04 server installer doesn't boot on Xen server as domU in PVH mode

2024-05-22 Thread Neil du Preez
Thank you for your reply.

My main goal was to raise awareness since it wasn't clear to me whether
anyone was aware of this issue. As I mentioned previously, it would be
great to be able to install in PVH mode since it is "the best" mode
currently available as I understand it based on this page:

https://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Understanding_the_Virtualization_Spectrum

I have (subsequently to submitting this report) encountered similar
behaviour with a Debian 12 installer, so it is not Ubuntu-specific.

Unfortunately I don't have time to dig much deeper into this, and the
workaround I mentioned works well. I have / will mention it again on
Debian channels as well.

It seems that accessibility might be at fault. Would it be possible to
try the following workaround.

Add

export NO_AT_BRIDGE=1

globally (/etc/profile.d) and relogin?

[Bug 2066516] [NEW] fractional scaling corrupts the monitors.xml file

2024-05-22 Thread dln949
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 22.04.4, gnome shell 42.9, wayland (per the "About" screen under
Ubuntu settings).

I have two monitors, I set the fractional scaling on each to be 125%. Each has
a resolution of 1920 X 1080.
On the left monitor, I have an icon on the desktop appearing in the middle of
the monitor. I can move it around on that monitor, but: Something strange
happens if I try to move it to one of the three rightmost "columns" of that
left monitor. If I try to move it to one of those three rightmost columns on
the left monitor, it ends up in one of the three leftmost columns of the right
monitor. (But: Attempting to place an icon in one of the three leftmost columns
of the right monitor does NOT place it in one of the three rightmost columns of
the left monitor - In this case the icon stays on the right monitor where I
intend for it to be.) Don't have this problem when the resolution is set at the
default of 100% on each monitor.

I have the resolution on each monitor to be 1920 X 1080. When I leave
the fractional scaling - under the Ubuntu settings display option - at
the default of 100%, in the monitors.xml file the x,y coordinates for
the two monitors are exactly as I'd expect them to be: viz., 0,0 for the
left monitor, and 1920,0 for the right monitor. However, when I change
that fractional scaling setting from 100% to 125% on each monitor, and
leave the resolution on each monitor at 1920 X 1080, the x,y coordinates
automatically get changed to 0,0 and 1536,0. My simplistic understanding
is that this change effectively makes the left monitor get cutoff at
1536 instead of at 1920, basically moving the rightmost 20% of that
monitor's x dimension to be treated as part of the right monitor's x
dimension. If I manually fix the x,y coordinates in the monitors.xml
file, then at next reboot the fractional scaling is automatically reset
to 100% on each monitor. I obviously do not understand the relationship
between fractional scaling and monitor dimensions in the monitors.xml
file. (Incidentally, in gnome tweaks under the font setting I have
throughout all this left the scaling option at the default of 1.0. Don't
know how, if at all, that interacts with the fractional scaling in the
Ubuntu settings.)

Why is this happening?

How do I fix this problem?

[Bug 2066503] [NEW] held packages cause release upgrade to be skipped silently

2024-05-22 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

I have a held package on my system (because the newer upstream version
available in newer Ubuntu releases is unusably broken). As a result,
update-manager presents me the option to upgrade:

The software on this computer is up to date.
However, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is now available (you have 23.10).

If I choose to 'upgrade', the dialog disappears, and nothing else
happens.

If I run update-manager from a terminal, I see the following output:

Checking for a new Ubuntu release
Please install all available updates for your release before upgrading.

But update-manager is a graphical application. This information should
be shown in the GUI, not on the terminal which is normally not visible
to the user.

[Bug 2045055] Re: link in default index.html should be HTTPS

2024-05-22 Thread Bryce Harrington
We already maintain index.html due to branding, and fixing the https
link adds little to that. I agree this should go to Debian since the
same issue affects them as well, but meanwhile it makes sense to me to
fix in Ubuntu.

[Bug 1994521] Fix merged to cinder (stable/2023.1)

Branch:stable/2023.1

commit af040f92537928401ccb167943d1edb6da80ad4e

3PAR: Error out if vol cannot be converted to base

Consider volume and snapshots as below:

v1
|
`-- s1
|
`-- v2
|
`-- s2

User initiated deletion of snapshot s1.
It failed with some vague message.

Initially, it was suspected that ...
While copying volume v2 (sometimes an intermediate step to break
volume dependency), we send a request to clone the volume v2 to new
base volume; and the exception [1] isn't handled properly.

[1] Conflict (HTTP 409) 32 - volume has a child

However, on further investigation it was found that ...
after a new volume v2 (omv-) is created and
when we try to delete old volume v2 (osv-),
at this point the exception [1] is thrown as error.

This is now handled gracefully. Appropriate error is thrown
if the volume (v2) has snapshot (s2).

[Bug 2066407] [NEW] Waking from suspend takes over 20 seconds each time

2024-05-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a Dell XPS 9315. I just upgraded from 23.10 to 24.04.

I have an issue with waking up from suspend. When I try to resume from
suspend (e.g., opening the laptop lid or pressing a key on the
keyboard), it takes 10+ seconds for it to wake up (to the lock screen).

I attached the output of sudo journalctl --since="-1 minutes"

[Bug 2066408] [NEW] window cannot be resized when using nvidia drivers

2024-05-22 Thread Timur Shaidulin
Public bug reported:

1)$ lsb_release -rd
No LSB modules are available.
Description:Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Release:24.04
2) software-properties-gtk/noble,now 0.99.48 all

This bug is not software-properties-gtk only. I observe the same behaviour in
other apps, like Unity3d Editor, SweetHome3D, apache jmeter.
Everything is working as intended if using nouveau video driver.
I tried nvidia-driver-535 and nvidia-driver-550. Both show this bug.
