I now switched my nfs_shared_infodir directly to /var/lib/nfs by updating the resources. [Bug 934371] Re: Unresolvable problem message does not help users and results in less useful bug reports
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This was likely caused by: * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu Please use the tool 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge package to remove software from a Launchpad PPA and try the upgrade again. If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade. [Bug 2062951] Re: Random flickering with Intel i915 on Linux 6.8 (Ubuntu 24.04)
Proper fix might come in future releases of Linux kernel. For now adding "intel_idle.max_cstate=4" to the kernel command line should work at expense of a minor power consumption. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParameters#Permanently_Add_a_Kernel_Boot_Parameter for instructions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2062951 Title: Random flickering with Intel i915 on Linux 6.8 (Ubuntu 24.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2062951/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2066516] Re: fractional scaling corrupts the monitors.xml file
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2066516/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 2066483] Re: lock screen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 You've reported this as a documentation issue, but haven't provided details of which address/page where the documentation needs correcting. ie. Was it a page viewed after https://help.ubuntu.com/ and if so which page in ubuntu-docs needs correcting? and what exactly is the issue. Are you seeking support? If so I suggest a support site, this question can be converted into a question which will change the emphasis to support (instead of current focus on fixing an issues with ubuntu-docs or documentation). ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066483 Title: lock screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/2066483/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2066157] Re: cpio 2.13+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4 breaks zfs build (alien command fails)
I can confirm this issue, I have a cpio archive generated by extracting the rpm from the ZFS build that errors on a system with 2.13+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4, and work on a system with 2.13+dfsg-2ubuntu0.3. Given that the difference beteeen both 2ubuntu0.3 and 2ubuntu0.4 AND 7ubuntu and 7ubuntu0.1 is the fix for CVE-2023-7207, my guess is that that fix is broken in some way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066157 Title: cpio 2.13+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4 breaks zfs build (alien command fails) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpio/+bug/2066157/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1876716] Re: Error transferring track: "could not open resource for writing" when copying tracks to library
I am currently having this problem ...again. It is with a single disk I am trying to extract. Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS RhythmBox 3.4.4 There is no other instance of the files anywhere in the directories I am attempting to send the extraction. The file names are all within the legal characters (which I have had problems with in the past). I have 1.x TB of space on the drive. I can play the CD with RhythmBox, but it won't extract. I have been extracting files all morning till I hit this one CD. I will continue extracting files if the program will permit with 'other' CD's. Is this a problem if the CD has DRM protection on it? I don't think this CD does, but sometimes one never knows. [Bug 2063821] Re: Ubuntu 22.04 server installer doesn't boot on Xen server as domU in PVH mode
Thank you for your reply. My main goal was to raise awareness since it wasn't clear to me whether anyone was aware of this issue. As I mentioned previously, it would be great to be able to install in PVH mode since it is "the best" mode currently available as I understand it based on this page: https://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Understanding_the_Virtualization_Spectrum I have (subsequently to submitting this report) encountered similar behaviour with a Debian 12 installer, so it is not Ubuntu-specific. Unfortunately I don't have time to dig much deeper into this, and the workaround I mentioned works well. I have / will mention it again on Debian channels as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063821 Title: Ubuntu 22.04 server installer doesn't boot on Xen server as domU in PVH mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xen/+bug/2063821/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2066516] [NEW] fractional scaling corrupts the monitors.xml file
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 22.04.4, gnome shell 42.9, wayland (per the "About" screen under Ubuntu settings). I have two monitors, I set the fractional scaling on each to be 125%. Each has a resolution of 1920 X 1080. On the left monitor, I have an icon on the desktop appearing in the middle of the monitor. I can move it around on that monitor, but: Something strange happens if I try to move it to one of the three rightmost "columns" of that left monitor. If I try to move it to one of those three rightmost columns on the left monitor, it ends up in one of the three leftmost columns of the right monitor. (But: Attempting to place an icon in one of the three leftmost columns of the right monitor does NOT place it in one of the three rightmost columns of the left monitor - In this case the icon stays on the right monitor where I intend for it to be.) Don't have this problem when the resolution is set at the default of 100% on each monitor. I have the resolution on each monitor to be 1920 X 1080. When I leave the fractional scaling - under the Ubuntu settings display option - at the default of 100%, in the monitors.xml file the x,y coordinates for the two monitors are exactly as I'd expect them to be: viz., 0,0 for the left monitor, and 1920,0 for the right monitor. However, when I change that fractional scaling setting from 100% to 125% on each monitor, and leave the resolution on each monitor at 1920 X 1080, the x,y coordinates automatically get changed to 0,0 and 1536,0. My simplistic understanding is that this change effectively makes the left monitor get cutoff at 1536 instead of at 1920, basically moving the rightmost 20% of that monitor's x dimension to be treated as part of the right monitor's x dimension. If I manually fix the x,y coordinates in the monitors.xml file, then at next reboot the fractional scaling is automatically reset to 100% on each monitor. I obviously do not understand the relationship between fractional scaling and monitor dimensions in the monitors.xml file. (Incidentally, in gnome tweaks under the font setting I have throughout all this left the scaling option at the default of 1.0. Don't know how, if at all, that interacts with the fractional scaling in the Ubuntu settings.) Why is this happening? How do I fix this problem? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066516 Title: fractional scaling corrupts the monitors.xml file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2066516/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Interestingly enough, there was a new image that was released yesterday - ami-03e9149278a6f457c (Date 20240521) root@ip-IP-MASKED:~# apt-cache search python3.9 python3-distutils - distutils package for Python 3.x python3-gdbm - GNU dbm database support for Python 3.x python3-lib2to3 - Interactive high-level object-oriented language (lib2to3) python3-tk - Tkinter - Writing Tk applications with Python 3.x idle-python3.9 - IDE for Python (v3.9) using Tkinter libpython3.9 - Shared Python runtime library (version 3.9) libpython3.9-dbg - Debug Build of the Python Interpreter (version 3.9) libpython3.9-dev - Header files and a static library for Python (v3.9) libpython3.9-minimal - Minimal subset of the Python language (version 3.9) libpython3.9-stdlib - Interactive high-level object-oriented language (standard library, version 3.9) libpython3.9-testsuite - Testsuite for the Python standard library (v3.9) python3.9 - Interactive high-level object-oriented language (version 3.9) python3.9-dbg - Debug Build of the Python Interpreter (version 3.9) python3.9-dev - Header files and a static library for Python (v3.9) python3.9-doc - Documentation for the high-level object-oriented language Python (v3.9) python3.9-examples - Examples for the Python language (v3.9) python3.9-full - Python Interpreter with complete class library (version 3.9) python3.9-minimal - Minimal subset of the Python language (version 3.9) python3.9-venv - Interactive high-level object-oriented language (pyvenv binary, version 3.9) root@ip-IP-MASKED:~# systemctl status cloud-init ● cloud-init.service - Initial cloud-init job (metadata service crawler) Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/cloud-init.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (exited) since Wed 2024-05-22 15:52:27 UTC; 3min 58s ago Main PID: 433 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Tasks: 0 (limit: 4618) Memory: 0B CGroup: /system.slice/cloud-init.service May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED cloud-init[437]: | . . +| May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED cloud-init[437]: | . .So.. o+o| May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED cloud-init[437]: | + o+..o o+o| May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED cloud-init[437]: | o oB.+o o+=.| May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED cloud-init[437]: | =ooX*..oo+=| May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED cloud-init[437]: | =@O. oo.=| May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED cloud-init[437]: +[SHA256]-+ May 22 15:52:27 ip-IP-MASKED systemd[1]: Finished Initial cloud-init job (metadata service crawler).
