I don't use gnome so haven't tested it, but with 11-9 the performance is muuuch better for me on KDE - with the exceptions of 4 lockups (xserver segfaults) in 1 hour --> downgrading to 11.8 for now. Sandra, i have a PPA with latest strigi (from git): ppa:hrvojes/kde4.7; you can download the sources and recompile it yourself.
