[Bug 969489] Re: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?

2014-01-11 Thread 323232
Seems that the bug occurs more often after an update and reboot (with
new profiling) although it also occurs less often without any
updates..

[Bug 969489] Re: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?

2014-01-06 Thread 323232
Also tried the workaround #95;

quote
On the kernel i turned removed: splash quiet and noticed that the events
proceeding starting lightdm were quite a bit shorter for the failed machines.

When I turned on more debugging features, all the machines boot-up fine with no
errors! So my hack/solution:
* kernel boot options remove: splash quiet
* kernel boot options add: verbose init=/sbin/init --verbose
* /etc/default/rcS
 VERBOSE=yes
unquote
Seems to work. After more then one week no meer black screens-.!
Thanx

time mostly does not appear when the laptop is on battery power,
sometimes the session indicator does not appear (and time is appearing)
Log in/out (with cntrl alt del) restores the indicators.
Both problems on two fresh Saucy installs on different laptops
The main question remains; Whats teh source package related ti the bug?

Thanx for your response!
testing with linux image / linux image extra 3.4.0-5.11 from the quantal repos.
3.5 is not as stable yet as I want on this machine for daily use.
No freezes untill today. So 90 % change that this is a kernel-fixed-upstream
one.
Keep on testing next week and if by that time there are still no freezes i will
add the fuxed upstream tag.

[Bug 524454] Re: Networking is disabled on boot

2010-04-25 Thread 323232
had the same thing.

After I had drained my laptop battery to the max the laptod hibernated for the
first time in Lucid
after putting it to the adapter i rebooted
then network manager was disbled. This hs not been the case before i hibernated
the /var/lib/NetworkManager/ file had the mentioned falses, i deleted it, i
rebooted.
The wireless network was not disabled but did not see any networks
The wired network was working perfectly
tried a few things and rebooted a few time
finaly i put a noresume in grub, rebooted and the wireless got working again.

[Bug 539300] Re: [Lucid] Network Manager Applet Wi-Fi icon always shows red exclamation mark

2010-04-18 Thread 323232
My router had wireless settings for the B+G+N Network at 2.4 Ghz. The speed
varied from 2 to 54 mbps.
My broadcom adapter is expected to be N capable.
Changed the router settings to G only at 2.4. Ghz

The network manager applet is working as it should be with the G only setting.
The icon without an exclamation sign doesn't disappear when I logout en login
to the same of an other user
The network is mentioned under wireless networks
The speed looks stable at 54 mbps

So: al problems disappeared when i changed the routersetting to G only

I also tried N only; It worked but all aboved mentioned problems
remained the same. So the problems might be related to wireless N
Networking

2010-04-18 Thread 323232
A little bit to enthousiastic:
disappearing nm applet icon is still an issue
when
+ boot
+ login account a
+ icon is there
+ logout account a
+ login account b
+ icon is there
+ logout account b
+ login account a
+ no more applet
+ logout account a
+ login account b
+ no more nm applet

so. if you login an account for the second time during a session the nm
applet account dusappears

[Bug 554737] Re: ply_boot_client_flush() does not read replies (plymouth stuck during/after filesystem check or error)

2010-04-14 Thread 323232
Thanx for the efforts!
did a sudo touch /forcefsck and restarted witout the splash option; everything
seemed to work and the /forcefsck was removed

did a second test with different results
did a sudo touch /forcefsck, and restarted with splash
GDM is shown when Plymouth still says 1 of 2 partitions, at 70%. logged in and
rebooted with splash
Fsck was done again; GDM is shown when Plymouth still says 1 of 2 partitions,
at 70%. Logged in and rebooted without splash
did see fscheck messages (some messages and the black screen before gdm);
rebooted with splash
GDM is shown when Plymouth still says 1 of 2 partitions, at 70%: logged in: the
forcefsck was still there; removed it and rebooted with splash
Saw the blink line for a second that the disk were checked without the
percentage

So; the freezes stopped but there are still some thing not as they should be
Hope thos helps

2010-04-12 Thread 323232
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: udisks

Digital Camera
Error initializing camera: -60: Could not lock the device

Camera is usable
the two mountpoints are different:
one is mounted as store_00020001 and contains a file called DDISCVRY.DPS
The other is mounted as store_00010001 and contains the normal dcim and misc
directories such as they should be on the sd card of my camera. I can do
everything i want on both disks.

[Bug 539300] Re: [Lucid] Network Manager Applet Wi-Fi icon always shows red exclamation mark

2010-04-12 Thread 323232
Still the same with a fully updated 64 bit system and broadcom sta
± exclamation in nm applet during a good connection
+ connection not mentioned under wireless networks (nm applet popop -
upperfields
+ There might also be a little typo in the nm applat popup; It shows Wired
Network / disconnected Wireless Network / Disconnect
+ Performance stabilty issues - possibly WPA related (see above)

I am not sure if this is a networkmanager or broadcom sta driver issue
(or both)

I would be a pleasure if the importance of the bug got determined
(possibly medium give the fact that this issue might be an issue for
many Dell laptops / Notebooks..)

2010-03-28 Thread 323232
Also typical:
Have defined in nmanager that eth0 (Cable) and eth1 (wireless) both connect
automaticly.
Booting with the wired cable shows after loggin in the wireless search icon.
After getting te message that the wireless connection is establihed the wired
icon shows up. Both are active but after clicking on the nmanager icon only te
auto ethernet is mentioned at te top of the popup. Auto eth1 is not mentioned
at the top of the pop up.

Looks like al subscriders have the broadcom sta driver and have both 32

[Bug 539300] Re: [Lucid] Network Manager Applet Wi-Fi icon always shows red exclamation mark

2010-03-26 Thread 323232
To be more precize

After login the network icon has a red exclamation sign,
After two seconds the ico starts the wave (trying to conect)
After 15 seconds the popup comes up stating that it has connected to my
wireless network (enabled for all users in the networkmanager settings)
The the red exclamition shows up again in the icon.
The wireless connection is the only connection possible. The connection is OK
(Im filling this in right now with the icon with the red exclamation in it)
Clikking on the ico a popup shows uo staing that the Wired Network and the
Wireless Networ are disconnected.
Tried also previously to remove network and work with static ip/wpa etc in
interfaces. This worked now and then. Mostly I had to restart
/init.d/networking etc. Tried also a sleep command, although I am not hindered
by any technical knowlodge it lookes like the interfaces and the association to
a network are not right timed while booting.
Working on a fully updated Lucid by the way.

[Bug 427629] Re: When i remove the AC power cable from my laptop, the computer goes to sleep.

2009-11-29 Thread 323232
I think a have a related problem;
When starting my vaio k415b on battery power the boot hangs on the splash
screen (no futher activity)
On AC power everything works perfect.
Found als a similar post on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1308026
This looks like a broader bug and not gnome related... (did not file a
seperate one (yet))

[Bug 423694] Re: session active, not inhibited, screen idle message

2009-11-13 Thread 323232
I don't know if there is a relation but..

When I play Solitaire the memory use of Xorg grows and grows (see bug
469172).

This bug (the blanking of the screen) mostly happens when Solitaire is
started or sometimes afterwards. (the memoryuse of Xorg remains high
after closing solitaire)

Could be that those two things are not related but it is remarkeble

[Bug 469172] [NEW] Gnome games - sol / Aislerot Solitaire has a huge memory leak

2009-11-01 Thread 323232
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

When starting to play Aislorot Solitaire the mmory use of sol and xorg
becomes higher and higher. In the middle stage the xorg memory use is
over 100 mb. At a later stage everyrhing becomes sluggish. When you are
lucky you can stop sol in time and memoryuse decreases. When you're
unlucky everything freezes.

Using a fully updated Karmic laptop with an ati open source driver.

[Bug 423694] Re: session active, not inhibited, screen idle message

2009-10-04 Thread 323232
On a fully updated Karmic install the message is shown now and then.
Between 30 to 60 minutes after boot the screen flickers to black an to normal.
At the same time the square icon with the message appears in the
notification area.
So the problem is not solved.
Got the normal ubuntu Xorg packages: 1.7.4+3ubuntu5. System uses open source
radeon driver (working fine).

I'm not 100 % sure but i thing the foloowing messages in the Xorg.conf
are related:
