[Bug 1749961] Re: xhci_hcd: TRB DMA errors reported with ASMedia ASM1142 USB 3.1 Controller
I am having the same exact error with `USB controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1142 USB 3.1 Host Controller` and a `Logitech StreamCam`. I tried updating my kernel from `4.15.0-112` to `5.4.0-42` but that didn't helped. I brought a "dodocool DC26 SuperSpeed USB 3.1 PCI-Express Card with Dual Type-C Ports", which was supposed to work with Linux, but it only works for slow speed connections, if I try to use a high speed connection it does not work. The problem is not on the device I'm connecting. If I use an "Adaptor Usb-C 3.1 Type-c Female to Usb-a 3.0 Male" in the onboard USB 3.0, it works fine. I just have issues with the ASM1142. If I keep trying to connect, I run into a error that totally disable the ASM1142 . These are the dmesg logs when I connect the high speed device: ``` [ 2229.576801] usb 6-1: new SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd [ 2229.604832] usb 6-1: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=0893, bcdDevice= 3.17 [ 2229.604837] usb 6-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [ 2229.604841] usb 6-1: Product: Logitech StreamCam [ 2229.604844] usb 6-1: SerialNumber: 5085D605 [ 2229.609976] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Logitech StreamCam (046d:0893) [ 2229.626309] uvcvideo 6-1:1.0: Entity type for entity Processing 3 was not initialized! Re: [Bug 11334] Re: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste
Dear @skabbedabbeda We like linux, we believe in an open source future, where open source is the best. We want all to be perfect, we dont want Mac. 2012/1/26 skabbedabbeda 11...@bugs.launchpad.net: @matteo sisti sette (matteosistisette): Reported by Arandonohue on 2004-12-20. That's indeed more than 6 years, but it's even more than 7 years. Besides that, it's been more than 7 years the bug was reported on Ubuntu's Launchpad, but this bug is way older. Even before Ubuntu existed, this bug already existed and was to be found in Linux distributions which existed 10 years ago. Don't expect this bug to be fixed, because developers just don't care about this bug. If you want to get rid of this bug, then there's only one solution: Don't use this crap anymore. Install Windows or buy a Mac (or try to install Mac OS X on a regular PC). That's the only solution. My advice is to buy a Mac. I know they aren't cheap, but I did so and it works great. It's just absolutely gorgeous. Everything just works as it's supposed to. Just get rid of Linux completely. Using another distribution isn't an option, because it's all the same crap. Linux is only good for servers which run without a GUI, it's just not designed for desktops. For your desktop there are only two operatings systems which really work: Windows and Mac OS X (although I'm so sure about the first one, but it's way better than any Linux distribution available.) -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/11334 Title: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste Status in AbiWord: Confirmed Status in ChmSee: Unknown Status in Chromium Browser: Unknown Status in Eclipse: Unknown Status in Chat app, and Telepathy user interface: Unknown Status in Epiphany - Clone of BoulderDash Game: New Status in gnome-utils - GNOME Desktop Utilities: New Status in GnuCash - Finance manager: Confirmed Status in GTK+ GUI Toolkit: Confirmed Status in Inkscape: A Vector Drawing Tool: Confirmed Status in The OpenOffice.org Suite: Confirmed Status in Tomboy: New Status in Webkit Direct Port: Fix Released Status in X.Org X server: Invalid Status in Xournal: New Status in XUL + XPCOM application runner: Fix Released Status in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: ===+++ _ ! Since gnome-panel freeze but does not crash, I can't create a backtrace. This bug is due to the fact that when the gnome-panel is more than 30 pixels, icons are shown for each windows in the panel. When Gnome has 7 windows, icons are stretched and there's no place for another window. At that moment, if 8th window is open, the windows list panel panic and gnome-panel freeze. [Bug 657523] Re: USC is extremely slow at loading/navigating/installing
Installing software is now painful. I really liked the new interface, but I prefer the old software center, since it was much faster. I am in a desktop computer. When I click to install, the Software Center gets really slow, and it keeps showing the install button. In addition all animations are slow, and even the install process is really slow, and takes a lot of time. When I am reading the description, and I press install, it never shows that it finished installing, and when I go back one level, it keeps the install button, untils I reselect it. Im attaching the output of my lshw. Something is really wrong with this program. I've never experiencied this bug in karmic. If I add another indicator-applet-session, an intersting behavior: it appears just the power button. To workaround I need to remove the buggeds applets, and add them again. Some simmilar issue with the indicator-applet also happen once, where just that 'separator' 3 horizontal lines were visible, to fix it also removing and adding it back. Its very annoying. Re: [Bug 11334] Re: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste
There sould be a type of clipboard that references de opened program itself, to keep also the old style, since some programs like programs suite (i.e. adobe creative suite) have many types of data that it can be copy and pasted as objects that one program grabs directally from other (i.e. copy a photoshop layer to illustrator, the layers may be there in illustrator, since it just got the same memory reference to the same generic data object) By default, the XServer threats the good sense way for all programs that just didnt care about the clipboard managing. I like selection, I just wish I could reselect other text and drop the selection over it (maybe a special modifier key?) [Bug 489041] Re: Acer Aspire 5738 cannot change brightness at all
Hello, I have the same notebook model, and this is a problem. Ubuntu idenfies the commands in keyboard to change brightness and it try to change it.. The brightness tooltip comes in the right top corner, but it have just a few steps (6 steps), and it does not change a thing. Is intersting that the fadeout that heppens when its going to screensaver happens, and it automatically turn off the monitor too. Adding the parameter acpi_backlight=vendor to the kernel in grub makes the brightness change, but it have too much steps, and it works very buggy (changes automatticaly very crazy, when lighting up it goes all dark, and comes back to where you was... very annoying), so I prefer not using this workaround, since its worst then not having the adjust brightness option. In Fedora 11 the brightness works perfectly in Acer 5738. I didnt tested the Fedora 12 yet. Sorry, I just retested the acpi_backlight=vendor parameter in grub, and with the latest updates its working perfect.. The last time I've tested was in jaunty. This really fixed and works perfect. I've just updated my /etc/default/grub with that option and the changed line its just like this: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nomodeset i8042.nomux acpi_backlight=vendor Just to explain: - nomodeset: makes something show up in the screen (fix the videodriver) - i8042.nomux: makes the touchpad button work. - acpi_backlight=vendor: fix the brightness problem. In addtion, I got ghosts ttyACMs, when the unstability happens. ls /dev/ttyACM* /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/ttyACM1 /dev/ttyACM2 /dev/ttyACM3 (note, there should be NO ttyACMs, this are all ghosts and this command was ran when the device was not connected) Reconnecting the USB cable seems to make it work again, but the ghosts ttyACM still there, and a restart is need to clean up. In this case, the device will appear in /dev/ttyACM4, and I will be able to connect to it by just this tty. I made a logfile analyze, in order to help in the correction of this bug.. I attached the file named logfile_analyze.log, where I compiled all logfiles in one file, keeping the important stuff just (you will like it). Just a summary I wrote (you can check this on logfile): Oct 31 00:57:53 Normally plugged on USB (ttyACM0) Oct 31 01:04:34 First unwanted disconnect. (ttyACM0) Oct 31 01:04:47 Autommatically reidentified (ttyACM0) Oct 31 01:05:49 Second unwanted disconnect. (ttyACM0) Oct 31 01:05:50 Autommatically reidentified (ttyACM0) Oct 31 01:05:53 Third unwanted disconnect. (ttyACM0) Oct 31 01:05:54 Autommatically reidentified (ttyACM0) Oct 31 01:05:54 Duplicated auto reidentified (ttyACM1) Oct 31 01:06:00 Duplicated auto reidentified (ttyACM2) Oct 31 01:06:01 Duplicated auto reidentified (ttyACM3) Oct 31 01:06:02 Duplicated auto reidentified (ttyACM4) Oct 31 01:06:10 Removed device (ttyACM4) All this happens randomically, but always happen with the device on usb, some times imediattly, sometimes take longer... Sometimes it just disconnects and disappears (need to replug USB)... I really need this fixed to work in the development of my software, so if you need any more information, feel free to contact me. [Bug 465853] Re: Gnome panel freezes and start consuming all machine resources
** Summary changed: - The gnome-panel stops answering (responding) frequently with no reason. At panel, just gnome-system-monitor keeps running, and can be accessed by cliking it, the rest all stoped. Very annoying. + Gnome panel freezes and start consuming all machine resources -- Gnome panel freezes and start consuming all machine resources https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/465853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 465853] Re: Gnome panel freezes and start consuming all machine resources
This problem comes from nothing. Killing gnome panel sometimes solves the problem, but sometimes it cames freezed, and notting works. A restart is need. Looks like it starts entering in an eternal looping and keeps loading resources infinitaly in a deadlock. ** Attachment added: Screenshot of gnome-system-manager showing gnome-panel http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34745177/Captura_de_tela.png -- Gnome panel freezes and start consuming all machine resources https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/465853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
