[Bug 2046844] Re: AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP

2024-05-23 Thread Marcos Alano
I'm having a similar problem, but I don't know if it's related: I'm using
Ubuntu 24.04, Firefox from Mozilla PPA (so no Snap), and I get this error in
the journalctl -b:
mai 23 15:39:24 glados firefox.desktop[8963]: [Parent 8963, IPC I/O Parent]
WARNING: process 47676 is a zombie: file
/builds/worker/checkouts/gecko/ipc/chromium/src/base/process_util_posix.cc:245
It freezes all my session, not just the Firefox, and I need to long press the
power button to turn off the machine.

[Bug 2066971] [NEW] Update from 23.10 to 24.04 failed

2024-05-23 Thread Citro
Public bug reported:

There was a problem when updating, the installed showed me some red
warnings telling me that it's not able to perform the update, and I
looked in the terminal and said that it had to do with Thunderbird. You
will find in attachment a screenshot of one of the errors. I rebooted
and it now says that I'm on 24.04.

[Bug 2062951] Re: Random flickering with Intel i915 on Linux 6.8 (Ubuntu 24.04)

2024-05-23 Thread Eugene San
@vartee

This bug is Intel i915 specific.

I am afraid you are experiencing AMDGPU related issue and should look
for related open bug or open one by your self.

P.S.
I remember having similar flickering issues with AMDGPU and adding
"amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10" helped. Note, it was completely different hardware
and kernel.

[Bug 2039957] Re: rmlint 2.9.0-2.5 fails to build: test_stdin.test_stdin_read hangs

2024-05-23 Thread Benjamin Drung
It looks like the called binary is hanging. Since `Popen.communicate()`
is called without `timeout` set, it will wait forever to exit. Upstream
has a fix for a hanging case: https://github.com/sahib/rmlint/pull/557

I am currently testing if that will fix the hang in our case.

[Bug 2065141] Re: AMD CPU type 0x70f40 (ext family 0xa) unknown

2024-05-23 Thread Treviño
> I'm wondering if the mantic and jammy patches aren't missing the
change to src/counters-test/counters.c

When doing the patch I did grep on those trees for similar contents, and
there's not.

The file was added on 5.6.0 (https://github.com/rr-
debugger/rr/commit/de389f73cecaedb9e3f8f593bec00db80183993f) so not in
jammy for sure, while it was present in mantic (I had missed the rename
there it seems), but as the file states it's just a standalone test that
was nice to have but not fully required to get the fix landed.

[Bug 2066920] Re: Exceptions raised if UA_CONFIG_FILE is bad

2024-05-23 Thread Renan Rodrigo
Hello Nathan, thanks for raising this issue.

tl;dr yes docs are wrong.

The thing it should express is that this endpoint raises no *specific*
exceptions, but at any time unexpected exceptions may happen and will be
raised as UbuntuProError instances.

There is ongoing work to update this on the docs as part of [1]. More
specifically, there will be a message like [2] for all endpoints, which
reflects the truth.

[Bug 2066945] [NEW] Scrolling page with arrow keys no longer works

2024-05-23 Thread Flack
Public bug reported:

I have updated Kubuntu to 24.04 yesterday and since then, I can't scroll
webpages with Arrow up/down anymore. Normally, pressing those keys would
just move the page up and down, now the arrow keys for some reason
behave like the tab key, i.e. the jump from one link (or clickable
element) to the next.

I also have a strange mouse issue since the update: When I scroll down a
page, occasionally it automatically scrolls back up. But I'm not 100%
sure that is specific to Firefox, it may have happened in an electron
app, too. I just thought I'd mention it here because I currently have no
reliable way of scrolling a page in Firefox (scrolling with the spacebar
works, but it's not so user friendly, since it scrolls very far each
time)

[Bug 2066926] [NEW] docker3-python=5.0.3-1ubuntu1 is useless

2024-05-23 Thread Jitender kumar
Public bug reported:

`docker3-python=5.0.3-1ubuntu1` is useless because of the issue
described [here](https://github.com/docker/docker-py/issues/3113) and
fixed in version [6.1.0](https://github.com/docker/docker-
py/releases/tag/6.1.0) with PR [3116](https://github.com/docker/docker-
py/pull/3116).

as `Ubuntu 24.04` have following versions of `python3-requests`,
`python3-urllib3` and `python3-docker` packages:

```
$ apt list --installed | grep python3-urllib3
python3-urllib3/noble,now 2.0.7-1 all [installed,automatic]
$ apt list --installed | grep python3-requests
python3-requests/noble,now 2.31.0+dfsg-1ubuntu1 all [installed,automatic]
intel@gramine2404:~/docker-7.0.0$  apt list --installed | grep python3-docker
python3-docker/noble,now 5.0.3-1ubuntu1 all [installed]
$ lsb_release -a
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Release:24.04
Codename:   noble
```

Installing `docker` using `pip` is not the option on `Ubuntu 24.04`:
```
$ pip3 install docker
error: externally-managed-environment
× This environment is externally managed
╰─> To install Python packages system-wide, try apt install
python3-xyz, where xyz is the package you are trying to
install.
If you wish to install a non-Debian-packaged Python package,
create a virtual environment using python3 -m venv path/to/venv.
Then use path/to/venv/bin/python and path/to/venv/bin/pip. Make
sure you have python3-full installed.
If you wish to install a non-Debian packaged Python application,
it may be easiest to use pipx install xyz, which will manage a
virtual environment for you. Make sure you have pipx installed.
See /usr/share/doc/python3.12/README.venv for more information.
note: If you believe this is a mistake, please contact your Python installation
or OS distribution provider. You can override this, at the risk of breaking
your Python installation or OS, by passing --break-system-packages.
hint: See PEP 668 for the detailed specification.
```

Hence Ubuntu 24.04 must upgrade `python3-docker=5.0.3` to
`python3-docker>=6.1.0` where the compatibility issue with `requests`
and `urllib3` is fixed.

first usage of `python3-docker package is to connect to the docker
service using below code lines

$ python3
>>> import docker;

last line reports the issue described in the bug report.

[Bug 2066898] Re: HP LaserJet CP1025 prints black text as blue in LibreOffice writer

2024-05-23 Thread mrvanes
Some more testing:
Printing black text in Inkscape comes out as pitch black. Printing a pdf with
black text, generated in LibreOffice Writer (different computer, same version
of LO) prints as black.

A pdf generated on the failing system using LO writer, prints pitch
black on another computer/printer combi.

So there's something weird going on with the specific LO->printer
installation?

[Bug 2064211] Re: /usr/bin/update-manager:AttributeError::available:start_available:refresh_cache:_get_ua_security_status

2024-05-23 Thread Nathan Teodosio
** Description changed:

+ Impact
+ --
+
+ This bug was is a regression of the bug fix LP:2058133; It held back the
+ phasing of the package.
+
+ The symptom is that update-manager crashes right at start, doesn't
+ launch.
+
+ The ua.updates() and current_news() end-points are documented to throw
+ no exceptions, but actually they might, in which case this bug is
+ encountered. As such, the proposed fix tries the API but ignores
+ exceptions raised by it, causing update-manager to still work, even if
+ the Pro packages end up being classified as normal packages or if Pro
+ news aren't displayed.
+
+ Test plan
+ -
+
+ Run 'UA_CONFIG_FILE=/ update-manager --no-update', update-manager should
+ launch, not crash.
+
+ Where problems could occur
+ --
+
+ If the API end-points are working, ensure that classifying Pro packages
+ as such and displaying possible Pro news continues to work.

[Bug 2061017] Re: lxd-installer: permission error not handled and lxd snap not installed

2024-05-23 Thread Simon Déziel
As noted by @tomparrott, `unminimize` should not be triggering `lxd-
installer` as even full Noble images don't have LXD seeded, just the
`lxd-installer` wrapper. This is being tracked in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/2066905

@philroche, I'm assuming you want the other bug(s) to be fix released
before removing the block-proposed-noble tag from here, right?

[Bug 2066187] Re: org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.XSettings.service fails to restart properly after GPU reset event

Probably xwayland as my setup does not involve running xorg. Or gnome: why is
org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.XSettings.service needed on Wayland? Gnome does not
use xwayland to run itself, it runs on wayland natively.

[Bug 2066187] Re: org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.XSettings.service fails to restart properly after GPU reset event

2024-05-23 Thread Jozef Behran
When I think about it now, I started to suspect that the Wayland
compositor in Gnome went wacko when the GPU reset occured.
Unfortunately, I can't replicate this as I have no idea how to easily
trigger a GPU reset. Generally submitting a GPU load that overloads it
should do the trick but constructing such a load is currently beyond my
abilities.

[Bug 2066914] [NEW] tmux 3.4 stalls during active pane zoom

2024-05-23 Thread Dom Del Nano
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu noble, I've noticed that the tmux server
stalls when zooming the active pane (prefix + z). Using top -p
${tmux_server_pid} its easy to see that the server will sometimes
consume as high as 60% CPU when servicing this zoom pane operation.

Rebuilding tmux from upstream the current 3.4 tag doesn't seem to experience
this issue:

[Bug 2065349] Re: [SRU] Default user created by cloud-init confuses WSLg

2024-05-23 Thread Carlos Nihelton
Your question means that I didn't clarify enough the test I followed and
how it related to the original test plan proposed. The gap in
understanding is more due WSL specifics than cloud-init itself.

The fundamental difference between what is proposed in the bug report
and what I applied manually is: the availability of the Ubuntu-24.04
Windows application with the latest rootfs containing the patched
version of this package (wsl-setup), which drastically simplifies the
test setup. Of course that can only happen once this patch is merged and
a new build of both the rootfs image and the Windows application
submitted to the MS Store. So, the proposed test plan is complete and
correct, but requires artifacts not available by the time this SRU bug
is processed. It's rather applicable as a quality gate prior to the
release of Windows app itself and a means of detecting future regression
(our CI is capable of performing exactly that test case to detect
regressions).

The test I reported in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wsl-
setup/+bug/2065349/comments/6 is a manual workflow that behaves as if we
had such up-to-date Windows app.

It can be described in a high level structure as:

1. Set up a rootfs containing the latest version of this package (wsl-setup):
- We create a new instance, update wsl-setup and export a snapshot with the
minimum changes possible. Thus, cloud-init must be disabled (otherwise it would
run automatically - as a systemd service - and cause more changes to the
instance). Also. no other users are created as part of that set up.

2. Import that rootfs image emulating the behavior the Windows application
would have (i.e. as if we run `ubuntu2404.exe`)
- All the steps related to ensuring there is no cloud-init user-data files
to be found, `wsl --import`, `adduser` and wait on cloud-init steps. Also the
instance shutdown is needed to make the changes in `/etc/wsl.conf` to take
effect.

3. Finally, perform the actual test, which is: ensure there is no
`ubuntu` user pre-created and Wayland apps work.

I'll edit that comment to clarify that structure, so others, not
familiar with WSL specifics, may reason about what that procedure
actually achieves.

[Bug 2066908] [NEW] [SRU] ovn 24.03.2 point release

2024-05-23 Thread Frode Nordahl
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
This release sports mostly bug-fixes and we would like to make sure all of our
supported customers have access to these improvements.
The update contains the following package updates:

   * ovn 24.03.2

[Test Case]

The following SRU process was followed:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenStack/StableReleaseUpdates

In order to avoid regression of existing consumers, the OpenStack team will
run their continuous integration test against the packages that are in
-proposed. A successful run of all available tests will be required before the
proposed packages can be let into -updates.

The OpenStack team will be in charge of attaching the output summary of the
executed tests. The OpenStack team members will not mark ‘verification-done’
until
this has happened.

[Regression Potential]
In order to mitigate the regression potential, the results of the
aforementioned tests are attached to this bug.

[Bug 2065349] Re: [SRU] Default user created by cloud-init confuses WSLg

2024-05-23 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Hi cnihelton,

I'm not familiar with the WSL interaction with cloud-init, so pardon my
question.

Your test plan execution seems to have deviated quite a lot from the
proposed test plan in the bug description. Any particular reason for
this deviation? Is the proposed test plan incomplete, or incorrect?

[Bug 2066670] Re: Could not understand duplicity version.

2024-05-23 Thread Michael Terry
Interesting… that usually means that duplicity crashed on us or had some
other odd error when we asked it for its version.

But when you do it on the terminal, it’s fine…

Are you using the standard Ubuntu distro version of deja Dup (vs flatpak
or snap releases?)

[Bug 2066902] [NEW] Night Light occasionally gets stuck

2024-05-23 Thread Kevin Keijzer
Public bug reported:

Since installing Ubuntu 24.04, every now and then Night Light gets stuck
when my screen is locked at night and I unlock it in the morning. The
screen is then very orange (more so than normally is the case with Night
Light), and disabling it with the button in in the top bar menu does
nothing.

The only ways to restore the screen to normal are disabling and enabling
the colour profile or running `gdbus call -e -o
/org/gnome/SettingsDaemon/Color -d org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Color -m
org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Color.NightLightPreview 1`

I have never been able to find anything remotely relevant in any system
logs regarding this issue. It also does not happen every day, but
probably once every seven to ten days or so.

My PC has an AMD RX550 GPU using the amdgpu driver. I'm not sure if it
makes a difference, but so far I've not seen this problem on my other
machines with Intel IGPs.

[Bug 2066898] Re: HP LaserJet CP1025 prints black text as blue in LibreOffice writer

2024-05-23 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2066898/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 2065677] Re: package systemd-resolved 253.5-1ubuntu6.1 failed to install/upgrade: 已安装 systemd-resolved 软件包 post-installation 脚本 子进程返回错误状态 1

2024-05-23 Thread chendong
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2047975 ***

This problem has been solved, at that time, this error was reported, and
installing any apt software prompted that the package was severely
corrupted. Through searching, I saw others say apt full-upgrade can be
solved, I tried it did solve.
