[Bug 2059738] Re: Kernel 6.8 - Shutdown/Reboot hangs on Noble 24.04
Still happens on my Lenovo Thinkpad P50. When shutting down, I have to hold down the power button for five seconds to get it to shut down completely, even though the external red LED (the dot of the "i" in "Thinkpad" on the lid) has turned off. I cannot restart the machine, same story as when trying to shut it down. If I close the lid, the power button will start pulsing after opening again. However, nothing can make it wake up again. Pressing keys, mouse or even the power button does nothing. The only thing that works is holding down the power button for five seconds to shut it down completely. As far as I can tell, this happens 100% of the time. [Bug 2070084] [NEW] Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS Wayland regression from Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Public bug reported: I apologize if this is in the wrong category. I reported this bug to NVidia, but thought I should report it with you guys too, as the Wayland version in Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS has changed. $ lsb_release -rd No LSB modules are available. Description:Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Release:24.04 I have been testing Wayland on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS successfully with NVidia drivers and this setup: libnvidia-cfg1-535:amd64install libnvidia-common-535install libnvidia-compute-535:amd64 install libnvidia-compute-535:i386 install libnvidia-decode-535:amd64 install libnvidia-decode-535:i386 install libnvidia-encode-535:amd64 install libnvidia-encode-535:i386 install libnvidia-extra-535:amd64 install libnvidia-fbc1-535:amd64install libnvidia-fbc1-535:i386 install libnvidia-gl-535:amd64 install libnvidia-gl-535:i386 install together with: libnvidia-egl-wayland1:amd64 taken from the Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS repository. Except for some minor issues with Google Chrome's title bar, it worked very well. My OpenGL application would work fine. Now, with Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, and the latest NVidia drivers: libnvidia-cfg1-555:amd64install libnvidia-common-555install libnvidia-compute-555:amd64 install libnvidia-decode-555:amd64 install libnvidia-egl-wayland1:amd64install libnvidia-encode-555:amd64 install libnvidia-extra-555:amd64 install libnvidia-fbc1-555:amd64install libnvidia-gl-555:amd64 install OpenGL applications that use textures don't work (hang) or report errors. Also, Google Chrome's window did not show up when reporting the bug (I had to log in as X11). To test it quickly, you can use my open source OpenGL video player (compiled on Rocky Linux 8.10 for compatibility so you'll get some warnings), which can be downloaded from: https://github.com/ggarra13/mrv2/releases If you are afraid of binary releases, here are two tests (a quick FLTK only test): sudo apt install make \ libpango1.0-dev \ libwayland-dev \ wayland-protocols \ libxkbcommon-dev \ libxinerama-dev \ libdbus-1-dev \ libglew-dev \ cmake \ libgtk-3-dev git clone https://github.com/fltk/fltk mkdir build cd build cmake .. -D FLTK_BUILD_EXAMPLES=ON make cd bin/test export FLTK_BACKEND=x11 ./cube # works fine export FLTK_BACKEND=wayland ./cube # hangs cd - cd bin/examples ./OpenGL3test # to verify driver version and OpenGL setup and my own viewer (a longer test, in the quickest compile option -- takes about 8 mins to compile): I can have you compile my program with minimal functionality so that you can test it too. Tested on Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS under amd64. $ git clone https://github.com/ggarra13/mrv2 Install dependencies: $ sudo apt update $ sudo apt -y install curl build-essential perl git cmake ninja-build \ libpango1.0-dev \ xorg-dev libx11-dev libxcursor-dev libxinerama-dev \ libxss-dev gettext libasound2-dev \ libpulse-dev libssl-dev libffi-dev \ libwayland-dev wayland-protocols libdbus-1-dev \ libxkbcommon-dev libegl-dev libgtk-3-dev rpm \ doxygen tk-dev libxt-dev libnvidia-egl-wayland1 $ mkdir -p $HOME/bin $ export PATH=$HOME/bin:$PATH $ cd mrv2 $ bin/runme_ffmpeg_exr.sh # All runme* scripts can run in "debug" mode by appending debug to them. (say y to the prompt) Once it is done, it should create a symlink from BUILD-Linux- amd64/Release/install/bin/mrv2.sh to $HOME/bin/mrv2 Test it with: $ mrv2 /path/to/a/movie.mp4 You will get all sort of texture warnings and no playback under Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS but should work fine under Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS. What I expect to happen. OpenGL applications should not hang nor should they report errors under Wayland. [Bug 2070079] Re: Latest kernel makes usb 4 run as 3.0
I read on that link that mainline 6.9.3 is fine. So there is some bad backport. Can you handle building a kernel? If so; it would probably be best to find the cause by bisecting [1]. You would clone the Ubuntu kernel tree [2] that has these tags and use them for your start and end. [Bug 2067810] Re: Apparmor denial on /var/lib/dpkg/arch
For bionic I had to change the script a bit to be able to launch a lxd bionic VM. In bionic I also didn't always get an apparmor DENIED with the dpkg --print-foreign-architectures, but I did get it when I logged in interactively. Since the other checks produced a DENIED message, and later with the update did not, I decided it was not worth debugging further. Same with xenial. # Testing series bionic ### Creating bionic-2067810 Device config added to bionic-2067810 Waiting for container IP Waiting for container ssh Connection to 10.0.102.136 22 port [tcp/ssh] succeeded! [Bug 2069598] Re: rpi400 & rpicm4l wifi connections fail with WPA used
A bug was found and fixed with a recent update to the checkbox test for this that was causing some formatting problems in the netplan yaml. While we're waiting for the packages to update, we reran these tests on rpi400 and cm4l with the previous good version of checkbox and all but the wpa 802.11n failure went away. However the 802.11n one is still very reproducible. I sshed into one of the failing devices after it was done and was able to get a working wifi connection to that wpa 802.11n AP that we have in the lab manually on one attempt, then removed the config and I was able to get the checkbox test to pass in isolation one time. After that though, I wasn't able to make it pass again so the passes seem to be a fluke. Checking dmesg after the failed runs, I found a lot of warning traces that seem to be related to the wifi driver: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/5XbRdGP4Cf/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2069598 Title: rpi400 & rpicm4l wifi connections fail with WPA used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-kernel-snaps/+bug/2069598/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2070079] [NEW] Latest kernel makes usb 4 run as 3.0
Public bug reported: When my kernel was updated from 6.5.0-35-generic to 6.5.0-41-generic my monitors connected via a thunderbolt 3 dock stopped working. It seemed I did not have the bandwidth anymore. The logs showed I only had v3.0 bandwidth despite it being a v4.0 port. When I went back to 6.5.0-35-generic it worked again. It also worked when I switched to 6.5.0-060500-generic --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu82.5 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: zorin:GNOME DistroRelease: Zorin OS 17 InstallationDate: Installed on 2024-04-21 (61 days ago) InstallationMedia: Zorin-OS 17.1 Core 64bit MachineType: Framework Laptop 16 (AMD Ryzen 7040 Series) Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 amdgpudrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-6.5.0-41-generic root=/dev/mapper/vgzorin-root ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.5.0-41.41~22.04.2-generic 6.5.13 RebootRequiredPkgs: Error: path contained symlinks. Hey Jeremy, I opened a new bug, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-remote-desktop/+bug/2067519 Would you give me any tips to try to debug this further ? The error is coming from this section of the code: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/blob/master/src/grd-settings.c#L303 And from the message it seems that it is some credential file misisng, or corrupted. Maybe this could be something simple ? I already tried to find information on the web but I can't find anything related to this. [Bug 2069941] Re: sosreport does not collect maas status when using --all-logs
We have discovered this is due to the fact the command being run is writing to a file directly and strict confinement of snaps not able to write the file is the problem. We were able to reproduce the problem with the following python snippet from subprocess import Popen, PIPE, STDOUT command = ['timeout', '300s', 'maas', 'status'] file = open("my_file", mode="w+") p = Popen(command,shell=False,stdout=file,stderr=STDOUT,bufsize=-1,close_fds=True) p.wait(300) print(p.returncode) print(file.readlines()) file.close() logs from the reporter Jun 20 17:54:39 cyberfarm kernel: [1077437.438930] audit: type=1400 audit(1718895279.617:227878): apparmor="DENIED" operation="file_inherit" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-maas_" profile="/snap/snapd/21759/usr/lib/snapd/snap-confine" name="/tmp/sos/my_file" pid=3168174 comm="snap-confine" requested_mask="wr" denied_mask="wr" fsuid=100 ouid=100 Jun 20 17:54:39 cyberfarm kernel: [1077437.438938] audit: type=1400 audit(1718895279.617:227879): apparmor="DENIED" operation="file_inherit" class="file" namespace="root//lxd-maas_" profile="/snap/snapd/21759/usr/lib/snapd/snap-confine" name="/tmp/sos/my_file" pid=3168174 comm="snap-confine" requested_mask="wr" denied_mask="wr" fsuid=100 ouid=100 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2069941 Title: sosreport does not collect maas status when using --all-logs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sosreport/+bug/2069941/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2070070] [NEW] Support for Ubuntu Core tegra-igx images in jammy
Public bug reported: This bug is to track changes needed to be able to build jammy Ubuntu Core images for arm64+tegra-igx to support hardware based on NVIDIA Tegra SoCs. NB some initial support had already been backported; see LP #2015644. [ Impact ] * This allows building missing image flavors for the NVIDIA Tegra families of hardware, notably Ubuntu Core images for the tegra-igx subarch. * This should also allow building of classic ISO installer images for tegra-igx, albeit that's a lesser priority. [ Test Plan ] * Changes to livecd-rootfs were tested locally and can be tested from the -proposed package by building a Core image for tegra-igx as follows: sudo apt install livecd-rootfs mkdir build cd build rm -rf auto local config rm -f livecd.*.model-assertion mkdir -p auto for s in config build clean; do ln -s /usr/share/livecd-rootfs/live-build/auto/$s auto/; done lb clean --purge export PROJECT=ubuntu-core ARCH=arm64 SUBARCH=tegra-igx SUITE=jammy IMAGEFORMAT=ubuntu-image CHANNEL=edge lb config sudo -E lb build [ Where problems could occur ] * Changes are relatively light, but in the case of a regression for instance due to broken logic, this could break existing image builds, in which case an older livecd-rootfs could be reuploaded. [ Other Info ] * These images are still being developed and its possible further changes are needed as we iterate through the maturity of the image. ** Affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: Fix Released ** Affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Medium Status: In Progress ** Also affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2070070 Title: Support for Ubuntu Core tegra-igx images in jammy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/2070070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
