[Bug 1161952] [NEW] package myspell-st 20070206-4 failed to install/upgrade: Unterprozess installiertes post-installation-Skript gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück

2013-03-29 Thread A3lyphe
Public bug reported:

tried to activate ALL languages in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal; any
provided updates (standard settings) have been installed before.

Several tries followed (changing to main-source, activating proposed,
restarts, apt-get via terminal, etc.) but no success, it hangs.

I remember some dependencies in oneiric that were not satisfied, as long
as the language-selector alternatives were not activates, but that's
just pointing into darkened areas of my memory.

Sorry, no more infos ...

[Bug 470383] Re: gedit crashes when opening files by dragging file icon over gedit application

2011-11-20 Thread A3lyphe
Same here, too; but even more drastically:

Systems: Ubuntu (10.04/10.10/11.04/11.10||Gnome2|Gnome3|Unity) AS ALSO
Fedora 15/16 AND Debian 6 with Gnome //GEdit 2|3

ANYTIME i drag files it is the same: The whole window crashes, but no
crash-report, because the gedit process is running still in the background;
only exception: under Fedora 15 with Gnome 2 GEdit hangs and tries to load the
file, but by killing the window, the window itself comes back, just stopping
the loading, but after ca. 1 minute GEdit crashes, though it was fully
functional again the meanwhile; under Gnome 3 in Fedora 15 the window hangs,
too but can not be killed; if file(s) have been dragged into a new tab, the
whole system halts, otherwise other applications are not part of the problem.
In Ubuntu, all versions independent if Gnome 2 or 3 used, GEdit crashes
completely, but process is running. Kill has no effect. Just a full reboot
helps.

Another issue under Ubuntu is, that if you use auto-save, the backups
become corrupted sometimes and a never before dropped file on GEdit
times gets completely corrupted, not restorable.

Due to the fact, that it has none to do with the system or the version,
to me it looks like there is a general failure in GEdit relating to some
dependency (any library).

What is obvious is, that it has to do in some way with the drag-drop-
functionality itself, because under all given systems, you can see, in
intervals of ca. 90 to 120 seconds, that the pictograms of the files
dropped, are animated moving the way you did with your mouse AND the
same issue happens sometimes with latest firefox builds. (Any identical
dependencies).

Hope one of you core developers is able to look for the error like a
pro. If you just want to response to this bug-addition by giving me
tasks like 'give us tech-specs without them we can't do anything' you're
just creepers.

Real developers find errors by thinking, not by using coded test-cases;
Bugs can not be found if the program does not know the bug.

Sorry, if i was too harsh, but the experience with most self-called
developers under launchpad, especially those that handle GNOME and
UBUNTU are most worst; Sorry but you guys should make a step-back and
get back near perfect applications like GEdit back under full control,
not just relying on 'if the system don't report an error, there is no
error'-humbug.

Even if you feel yourself attacked, you feel like that because i am
right in my statement; You should leave this comment alive, to see if
anyone has to propose similar issues and to prove that i am wrong and
you are right.

However, thanks for your interest in my writing.

Good luck brothers.

P.s.: This bug is reproducable,
i ran into the same issue on an old Athlon 1200 XP Nvidia GeForce AGP system,
just because i wanted to know if can happen on another system and if so it
seems it is a distribution wide bug, because Athlon XP is x86 The HP (laptop i
ran into it first) is dual-core Turion x86-64;

See why i think it is not just an issue?

[Bug 501669] Re: Ubuntu.LucidLynx.x64::UpdateManager; After partially upgrade the main menu shows doubled items/shortcuts

2010-01-06 Thread A3lyphe
I can see why you think it is (as i originally marked) no security
vulnaribility, but that opens the need for an exact definition of what
security issues are.

Let me explain (you might have overseen it): I have to coldshut the
system, means i have to drop the power and retart to get access back.
And this, due to massive caching of any Linux Distribution is for sure a
security issue.

You might want to say, Ubuntu Lucid Lynx is in Alpha stage so it is not
useful to treat such a bug as a sec issue. But what for are people like
me then?

If you (engineers of the distribution) would be able to automatically
test and simulate any user experience in virtual, then there would be no
need to announce these bugs.

Instead of sorting anything out to lower levels you should avoid these
tactics, because a problem (a full freeze of the system is a problem)
has to have a top priority; Imagine, what if network connections are
open, but only the ui isn't reacting, what about shared data? Can you
ensure that this behaviour does not allow access to the machine from the
outside? Or do you mind that any user having such an issue should stop
any router (wifi access) or unplug from the network? What if that leads
to a mo' massive problem because of lost packets, which might be harming
much more while updating system.

However, i'm not into internals, but you might take the catch and try to
step away from this 'let us work less, because it seems to be a
philosophical problem'

I'm very annoyed of people who state themselves pro's but aren't pro
enough to find solutions to conflicts, instead sort things out and let
them hang there for a while. You're right it might be better, to wait
until thousands and more have issued this problem.

Thanks for your patience.
