[Bug 207065] Re: Bad Compiz Bindings Bug

2010-05-03 Thread AbtZ
Hello, I tried applying the patch and got it to work. I'm on Ubuntu
10.04 Lucid Lynx 64-bit.

Here's what I had to install to get it working:

$ sudo apt-get install compiz-dev libcompizconfig0-dev build-essential
git-core autoconf libglib2.0-dev intltool libgconf2-dev

Please note, I added the ampersand () after the --replace commands.
Failing to do so locks the terminal, at least for me. Thus:

$ git clone
git://anongit.compiz.org/fusion/compizconfig/compizconfig-backend-gconf
$ cd compizconfig-backend-gconf/settings-backend/
$ wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/39947363/resize-with-right-button.patch
$ patch  resize-with-right-button.patch

$ cd ..
$ ./autogen.sh
$ make
$ metacity --replace
$ for file in /usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/libgconf.* ; do sudo mv $file
$file.backup ; done
$ sudo cp settings-backend/.libs/libgconf.* /usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/
$ compiz --replace

It -is- a bug, specifically having to do with the gnome compatibility

report:

Metacity's resize_with_right_button works fine ONLY if Compiz is off or
Compiz' Gnome Compatibility setting is disabled.

[Bug 495135] [NEW] Alt+right click window resize with compiz enabled does not work with Enable integration into the desktop environment on

2009-12-10 Thread AbtZ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Not long ago, the feature to resize windows with an alternative binding,
alt+right click, was added to the Gnome Desktop Environment. It is
superior to the older binding, alt+middle click, especially on laptops
who generally don't have a middle mouse button for the track pad.

However, with Compiz enabled reconfiguring window resizing still does
not work, if Enable integration into the desktop environment under
Preferences is on. Why is the integration setting overriding custom key
bindings?

How to reproduce:
1. Start Compiz configuration manager.
2. Go to Resize window and change settings for Initiate Window Resize from the
default Alt+middle click.
3. Try resizing with the new binding, notice how it doesn't work.
4. Go to Preferences, and disable Enable integration into the desktop
environment, notice how your new binding actually works.

[Bug 208548] Re: en_SE locale needed to get correct weekdays in Sweden

2009-06-28 Thread AbtZ
If you boil it down, the most glaring issue here is the fact that the
Gnome Panel development team decided to remove the possibility to set
the first day of the week from the Calendar preferences. Why they did so
is anyone's guess, it is a desirable feature and removing is a pretty
stupid idea. Then again, dumbing things down too much has always been
one of the greater problems with Gnome.

If anyone could point me to a place where this can be discussed with the
developers, I would appreciate it greatly.

In the general case, I hope the GUI tool discussed above will be in Karmic,
because this is an issue that affects a lot more people than one would think.

[Bug 349847] Re: no sound in amarok

2009-06-06 Thread AbtZ
I tested removing phonon-backen-xine and libxine1-ffmpeg and
uninstalling/reinstalling Amarok.

Reinstalling Amarok got me the package phonon-backend-xine, but not
libxine1-ffmpeg. Consequently, the sound was not working and Amarok was
just skipping through my playlist. After installing libxine1-ffmpeg
sound started working again.

I don't know why, but apparently libxine1-ffmpeg is needed (for me, at
least) to be able to playback audio, and should be included as a
dependency when installing Amarok.

I'm attaching the terminal output for when I tried running a freshly
installed instance of Amarok.

[Bug 221698] Re: Cannot resize window taller than screen.

2009-01-28 Thread AbtZ
I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 with compiz 0.7.8.

One possible solution could be NOT having constrain y toggled by default
(easier). Another solution could be to change the way the constrain y code
works -- that is, impose the constraint not only on the title bar itself, but
on the whole window. That way, you wont be able to resize the window down below
the bottom panel.

[Bug 180854] Re: Cannot install flash in Ubuntu Hardy 64 bit

2008-01-07 Thread AbtZ
I saw the other thread before reporting this bug -- I did not find that
the problem was the same, considering that a. it was for Gutsy, not
Hardy and b. Synaptic would not download ia32-libs v2.1, hence you had
to do it manually.

The problem here is that the next version of ia32-libs (2.2, which comes
with the current version of Hardy) breaks flash compatibility.

Two different bugs, same solution: Download version 2.1 from
http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/i/ia32-libs/ia32-libs_2.1ubuntu3_amd64.deb

Should the bug information be updated that it affects ia32-libs instead
of flashplugin-nonfree?
