Actually last night I tried few more solutions on internet and after shutting down the system and then restarting it (not restart), suddenly the TOUCHPAD WORKED. And it Worked fine till today's noon. But I ran few commands in terminal (not related to touchpad or its drivers), and after rebooting the system it STOPPED WORKING again. However when it was working /proc/bus/input/devices command, detected Synaptics Touchpad. But now when I run the same command it doesn't show any touchpad. I am surprised and worried. [Bug 1391732] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.4 problem
Public bug reported: My touchpad is not working ever since I installed ubuntu 14.4 . However connecting mouse works. On running the command cat /proc/bus/input/devices , touchpad is not shown up too.
