As I stated previously using smbclient //SERVER_NAME/SHARE_NAME worked. The issue is with the GUI interface to Samba Shares. Yes the suspend/hibernate functions work. The last log statements are: Will now halt md: stopping all md devices. Shutdown:hda Power down. Then nothing. Further testing has shown that Samba hangs on trying to resolve the hosts file. Eliminating hosts from the resolve order allows smbclient to do name resolution. In Konqueror using the Samba Shares link is still a bust. However entering //hostname/servicename directly does work. Also using Add a Network Folder to create a network folder works.
