[Bug 152810] GDM faces not showing in Ubuntu Gutsy (LIVE-CD)

2007-10-14 Thread Agent-X
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I've reported this problem in the past, and it seems to have never been
fixed. The problem exists inside of the LIVE-CD version. I'm emphasizing
that it occurs with the Live-CD.

At the moment, I'm using Ubuntu Gusty. I can't remember the exact version, so
here is what the ISO says:
ubuntu-7.10-beta-desktop-i386

Here's what I did:

1. Add a new desktop user
2. Login to the desktop user
3. Give the user a face avatar: Chess piece avatar
4. Logged out
5. Logged in with user ubuntu
6. Changed the GDM to Happy GNOME with Browser
7. Applied changes
8. Logged out

I looked at the GDM browser, and it still showed the MSN-like /
marshmallow-type avatar for the new desktop user.
It shouldn't. For the new desktop user, I gave it the chess piece avatar.
However, the avatar is not showing up.
The chess piece avatar should be showing.

I did this same thing for LIVE-CD Ubuntu 7.04.
Inside of Live-CD 7.04, the face avatar didn't show up.
I already filed a complaint on this long ago, and it seems no one took care of
the problem.
The problem still exists.

[Bug 152810] Re: GDM faces not showing in Ubuntu Gutsy (LIVE-CD)

2007-10-14 Thread Agent-X
When I say I filed a complaint long ago, I filed it for Ubuntu 7.04. In
other words, the problem wasn't taken into consideration as something to
fix for Ubuntu 7.10. Other than that, for 7.04 it did work WHEN
installed it on the hard drive. But it did not work with the Live-CD.
Also, I wasn't able to find the bug I reported long ago. It's still the
same problem, though. I think the users/mods/admins brushed it off like
fools. Stupid...

[Bug 129879] login picture doesn't show up

2007-08-02 Thread Agent-X
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Problem: Login picture of new user does not show up in login screen.

Details:
1. Live-CD version of Ubuntu Feisty (7.04).

Steps for reproducibility:

Boot from the CD.

System - Administration - Login Window

Local - Happy Gnome with Browser - Close

System - Administration - Users and Groups

Add User - created Desktop user with the name user1

CTRL+ALT+Backspace

Login to user1

System - Preferences - About me

Chose baseball.png from /usr/share/pixmaps/faces/

Logged out.

Picture did not show up.

Possible reasons:

I read in some various places of the web, including Redhat and fedora
areas, that this is a bug with gdm. It seems like people tried fixing it
then upgrading the version, but I've noticed that users persist to have
this problem with the updated version. Maybe I'm one of them.

Addition comments on possible reasons:

I've also read it has to do with permissions and the way files are
handled throughout the process. However, I'm not too knowledgeable about
those topics.
