[Bug 524437] Re: missing status icon

2012-08-01 Thread Aiman Baharna
Changing the icon theme worked for me. I was using a theme which for
some reason had broken icon. Also there is a Blueman plugin for
customizing the icon that is displayed.

[Bug 990839] Re: xfce4 diskperf colors are nearly equal to panel color

2012-07-22 Thread Aiman Baharna
I am seeing the same issue on Xubuntu 11.10. It has the same version of
xfce4-diskperf-plugin (2.3.0-2). The plugin display area is always grey,
its background color, even though the tooltip shows that IO is actually
taking place. The colors set in the plugin configuration don't have any
affect.

However, unlike @Carsten, I can right click the applet in the panel just
fine.

[Bug 1018367] Re: Unable to remove unattended-upgrades

2012-07-02 Thread Aiman Baharna
I think it is a bug, because I did not create the file
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/20auto-upgrades. It seems to appear on a fresh
install.

More importantly, because of the existence of this file, I cannot change
the policy of automatic upgrades in the Software Sources window, because
the option is disabled.

Removing the file fixes the issue. But it doesn't solve why the file is
there in the first place. What is to stop it reappearing?

[Bug 1018367] [NEW] Unable to remove unattended-upgrades

2012-06-27 Thread Aiman Baharna
Public bug reported:

The presence of /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/20auto-upgrades (in package
unattended-upgrades) prevents editing the option for deciding how
security updates should be handled in Software Sources dialog (Software
Sources -> Updates -> When there are security updates). In fact, the
combo box for this option is disabled.

However, I cannot remove unattended-upgrades. Because attempting to do so

[Bug 1000346] Re: Compiz starts with no active plugins on Xubuntu 12.04

2012-05-16 Thread Aiman Baharna
** Description changed:

On Xubuntu 12.04, Compiz starts for the first time without any of the
plugins enabled. This even includes all the General plugins such as
  Composite and OpenGL.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Log in as a new user (no existing ccsm settings)
  2. Install compiz:
  sudo apt-get install compiz compiz-gnome compizconfig-settings-manager
  3. Start compiz:
  compiz --replace ccp
  4. In CCSM: note that none of the plugins are active

  Notes:
  - the $DESKTOP_SESSION is "xubuntu"
  - there is no "xubuntu" entry in /etc/compizconfig/config

  Versions:
  libcompizconfig0: 0.9.7.0~bzr428-0ubuntu6
  compiz: 1:0.9.7.6-0ubuntu1
-
- One solution might be to add a xubuntu profile under
- /etc/compizconfig/config, with the backend set to ini. The profile
- should ideally be a sane set of plugins. Perhaps even using the "unity"
- profile would be a sensible default.

[Bug 1000255] [NEW] Logitech wireless keyboard & mouse stop working

2012-05-16 Thread Aiman Baharna
Public bug reported:

This problem relates to support for Logitech Unifying Receiver, a USB
dongle that communicate with one or more wireless devices. In this case,
the devices consist of a keyboard and a mouse.

This bug appears in two contexts:

1) Ubuntu Precise alternate-installer. Firstly the boot menu appears. At
this point, the keyboard is fully functioning and allows selecting the
language. After "Install Ubuntu" is selected from the menu, the text
installer appears prompting for the keyboard. At this point the system
no longer responds to key presses on the keyboard. Plugging in a USB
keyboard allows use of the newly attached keyboard, but not the existing
wireless one. In addition, the newly attached USB keyboard often stops
responding at some point during the installation procedure.

2) Ubuntu Precise encrypted LVM password prompt. After booting up a
system that has been installed with LVM encryption, Plymouth appears and
asks for the password. At this point the system no longer responds to
key presses on the keyboard. Plugging in a USB keyboard allows use of
the newly attached keyboard, but not the existing wireless one. When the
login screen appears, the wireless keyboards works again.

This issue did not arise in Ubuntu Oneiric, which uses the Linux v3.0
kernel.

So I suspected it might be a kernel issue. I have tested several different
kernels in a Precise system from the kernel-ppa with the following findings:
v3.0-oneiric: OK
v3.1.5-precise: OK
v3.1.10-precise: OK
v3.2-precise: NO
v3.4-rc4-precise: NO

I have tested this on three different machines with both Oneiric and
Precise with the same results.
