[Bug 749817] Re: natty regression: screen goes black when external monitor is connected
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 745112 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745112 I have a Samsung qx310 and I have been affected by the exact same behaviour - always a black screen in the dock and while connecting the monitor directly with the laptop. I installed the kernel suggested in comment #45 but when I rebooted I got the failed to get i915 symbol error Then I swapped back to the old 2.6.35-29-generic kernel to understand if by any chance unity would work on top of it. The answer is: kid of. It works perfectly until you plug in the hdmi connector, then the monitor is recognized but work in mirror mode only. Picking any other monitor configuration (either side by side or external monitor only) leads to refresh problems and/or part of the window(s) that are not properly drawn. At the end I tried to launch an ubuntu classic session and within it, everything got back to normal. So I'm assuming that the issue is due to both some kind of regression bug in the 2.6.38 kernel and to how unity uses draws the windows when it comes to external monitors. I can reproduce it anytime, so if it would be of any interest/use I can post my xorg logs -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749817 Title: natty regression: screen goes black when external monitor is connected -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

R: [Bug 178038] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV
I totally agree, the alpha 64 bits version seems to me much more stable than any combination of 32bit+nspluginwrapper. I installed the 64bit version in jaunty and I hadn't any problem ever since Alberto Aresca Il giorno 21 feb, 2010 1:31 p., Mossroy moss...@flaht.eu ha scritto: I faced the same problem on 10.04 alpha 2. I installed the alpha 64 bits version with the following commands : sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sevenmachines/flash sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install flashplugin64-installer I did not experience any crash since that installation : it looks more stable to me than with the nspluginwrapper. I'll try as soon as i get back home! I'm pretty sure that the suspension to ram is not an issue anymore. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest Karmic 9.10 release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal) while running Karmic. Re: [Bug 108911] Re: Problem with deskbar (no correctly initialized)
My problem actually is that I have 2 shortcut for deskbar-applet on my gnome panel: one is working fine while the other is transparent and lead to failure on gnome loading (suggesting me to signal the bug). I didn't found any method to delete the non working applet. I also tried to delete the panel and to create it again from scratch but when I rebooted my system the second applet was again there giving me the same problem. What I have to do to fix it?
