[Bug 1898693] [NEW] Devhelp index trims function names for python docs making them unsearchable
Public bug reported: The devhelp index for Python 3.8 docs (Ubuntu 20.04) trims method and attribute names from the index items, leaving only the "(<...> method|attribute)" part. Effectively that makes most of the items there unsearchable through devehelp interface. For instance, the index shows: (str method) (str static method) (struct.Struct attribute) instead of expected: capitalize (str method) maketrans (str static method) size (struct.Struct attribute) Attached a screenshot. ** Affects: devhelp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of trimmed index items" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1898693/+attachment/5418253/+files/2020-10-06_10-18.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1898693 Title: Devhelp index trims function names for python docs making them unsearchable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/devhelp/+bug/1898693/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1809536] [NEW] Empty desktop background after screen unlock - only dock with app icons and top panel, cannot see any app
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce (intermittently, ~1 per 10 times): 1. Leave the computer until the screen is blank - two monitors, no multimonitor plugin 2. Move the mouse to unblank the screen 3. Drag lock screen to top + enter password Actual results - Ubuntu dock is visible (with app icons) - Top panel is visible, but with limited options (e.g. no "Sleep" button, no app indicators) - Empty desktop background - Clicking the app icon does nothing - there is some animation effect, but it looks like the application would be 'behind' the background - Clicking "Applications" menu animates but then disappear as well Partial workaround: 1. Ctrl-Alt-F1 2. Choose the same user and enter password 3. You'll come back to the "empty desktop". But in a few seconds applications appear with a few limitations: a) Top panel features are still limited (no sleep/power off buttons in menu, no app indicators) b) Ubuntu dock shows different set of apps on each 1st and 2nd monitor Might be related to one of the stack traces in journalctl -first is probably when the screen was locked, second when unclodked gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: == Stack trace for context 0x55b45f34c210 == gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #0 7ffd0163ba40 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/overrides/GObject.js:468 (7f054eccc040 @ 25) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #1 7ffd0163bae0 b /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/theming.js:416 (7f051f315790 @ 20) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #2 7ffd0163bbd0 b self-hosted:261 (7f054ecc1dc0 @ 223) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #3 7ffd0163bc90 b /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/theming.js:415 (7f051f315700 @ 172) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #4 7ffd0163c910 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/_legacy.js:82 (7f054ecb0b80 @ 71) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #5 55b46572a1c0 i /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/theming.js:424 (7f051f315820 @ 17) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #6 7ffd0163d880 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/_legacy.js:82 (7f054ecb0b80 @ 71) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #7 55b46572a140 i /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/theming.js:89 (7f051f310ee0 @ 42) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #8 7ffd0163e7f0 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/_legacy.js:82 (7f054ecb0b80 @ 71) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #9 55b46572a0b8 i /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/docking.js:456 (7f05237fbd30 @ 82) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #10 7ffd0163f760 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/_legacy.js:82 (7f054ecb0b80 @ 71) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #11 55b46572a020 i /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/docking.js:1784 (7f051f30c160 @ 116) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #12 7ffd016406d0 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/_legacy.js:82 (7f054ecb0b80 @ 71) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #13 55b4647f2360 i /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/docking.js:1903 (7f051f30c550 @ 37) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #14 7ffd01641640 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/_legacy.js:82 (7f054ecb0b80 @ 71) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #15 55b4647f22e0 i /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ubuntu-d...@ubuntu.com/extension.js:31 (7f05237fb4c0 @ 12) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #16 55b4647f2220 i resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/extensionSystem.js:83 (7f054e85a040 @ 436) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #17 55b4647f21a0 i resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/extensionSystem.js:354 (7f054e85ab80 @ 13) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #18 7ffd016427b0 b self-hosted:261 (7f054ecc1dc0 @ 223) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #19 55b4647f2120 i resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/extensionSystem.js:353 (7f054e85aaf0 @ 64) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook gnome-shell[4475]: ../../../../gobject/gsignal.c:2641: instance '0x55b465d2fb20' has no handler with id '2417542' gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #20 55b4647f20a0 i resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/extensionSystem.js:371 (7f054e85ac10 @ 87) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #21 7ffd016438f0 b resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/signals.js:128 (7f054ecc18b0 @ 386) gru 22 10:23:59 alex-notebook org.gnome.Shell.desktop[4475]: #22 7ffd01644510 b

[Bug 920118] [NEW] Samba File Server shared folders doen't work after reboot - (Ubuntu 10.04)
Public bug reported: I banged on various tutorials trying to get my shared folders to work after rebooting. If I did a fresh install, or re-install of Samba, my folders would share fine. Once I rebooted, nothing. The Samba File Server documentation page clued me in as it was the only page that I found that brough up the nmdb Samba service. It turns out that the Samba installation doesn't configure nmdb to autostart at boot. This means people will go through the tutorial, and it will work, but once they reboot, their shared foldrs disappear. To get it working for now, after a reboot, I am just typing: sudo nmdb That gets file sharing going for me. It would be nice if this tutorial showed us all how to enable the nmdb service at boot. ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/920118 Title: Samba File Server shared folders doen't work after reboot - (Ubuntu 10.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/920118/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 98684] Re: Switching users (switch user) blank screen on fglrx (ATI driver)
I confirm on Radeon 3200 with fglrx and compiz on Jaunty. Switching user after longer time of computer inactivity sometimes (30% reproducibility?) renders screen black. There is a slight difference because I can see the mouse cursor and I can switch to text console and kill -9 compiz.real process. [Bug 135670] linux-image-2.6.22-10-generic suspend to ram (S3) issue (Samsung Q1 ultra)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22 On Samsung Q1 ultra, the linux-image-2.6.22-10-generic S3 (suspend to ram) has a very interesting phenomenon: it seems lose OS timer interrupts and needs external interrupts to keep kernel running. I installed pm-utils and vbetool, used: pm-suspend --quirk-vbestate- restore to enter S3, after that, system went sleep, after triggered power button, system seemed to recovery, but I needed keep pressing Q1's keyboard to trigger system scheduling. For example, ran a top program in the console, the top would keep idle until I press anykey, and the manner would be press one time, top run one time. Even for ls -al, I needed to press key extra times to let it go. Beside key pressing, other events like plug in/out power adaptor could trigger system too. In one short sentence, the world was now triggered by external interrupts. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- linux-image-2.6.22-10-generic suspend to ram (S3) issue (Samsung Q1 ultra) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135670 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 133557] Re: usplash could not run on Ubuntu UME flavored kernel
Matthew and Amit, Updates from my test, I guess this issue was root caused: After one half day tracing and testing, I found actually this issue was caused by another config option CONFIG_VM86 not setting. usplash source code ~/svgalib/src/lrmi.c (Linux real mode interface) with entry function line 587:run_vm86() need this kernel option to call 16bit VGA bios code to initialize video cards. Without this option, the video card will not be set to desired mode through VGA bios. I also tested, when remove CONFIG_VM86, Moblin kernel fell in same case of UME kernel. My apology for the previous FB_VESA misleading. -- usplash could not run on Ubuntu UME flavored kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133557 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 134626] Intel Poulsbo hda driver was not correctly built
Public bug reported: The Intel Poulsbo HDA patches were pulled in Ubuntu gutsy kernel tree already, while the snd-hda-intel module was not created their, instead, linux-ubuntu-modules did the creation job. But the intel HDA kernel driver inside was not patched with Poulsbo HDA patches at all. So current HDA does not work if install linux-image-ume and linux-ubuntu- modules-ume on Crown-beach or Poulsbo VV platform.
